Stumbled into Twisted Root while meeting a friend at the apartments next door and was so surprised by this place! I've been a fan of Triple D for years, totally shocked to find one of the featured restaurants practically in my back yard. Ranch pickles? Absolutely insane. My husband and I came here tonight and we were pleasantly surprised how good the food was! We had never been here before and didn't know how anything worked and felt like it wasn't clear to seat yourself and then when your ready to order you go through the door that says "in" and they will give you a card with a silly name (mine was Betty Rubble) and you wait to be called by that name to go pick up your food which I thought was pretty clever. The burgers were a little pricier than I was expecting it to be but totally worth it. We ordered "the ranch hand" added cheese and fries and the "sexy Hawaiian" with fried green tomatoes and pork skin came out to 25. I think it's 4. More if you get some of the exotic meats which I would like to come back and try. They have a variety of flavored pickles to dr up your burger with, ranch pickles wasn't too shabby. We went to the bar for some 5. Rita's! The bartender was super nice and friendly and made our drinks fast. She told us her name (which I forgot) but she told us what days she worked which I'm assuming she had lots of regulars. The margaritas were strong and delish!! I was not expecting that for such cheap drinks! During happy hour you can get a dollar off. I will keep that in mind for next time! First time to a Twisted Root. Super cool and fun atmosphere and concept. The food was very good and the bacon I added to the burger was sooo crispy and delicious. They have a few 'pre made' options or you can build your own. I went with a wagyu beef mushroom Swiss burger and added a fried egg and bacon. It was hot, juicy and tasty! Get the napkins ready! They have a pickle bar with a good variety of pickles. The staff was helpful and friendly and help guide me through the process. They also see to be environmentally conscious with their disposable trays, cups, etc. - most of which had markings indicating the use of recycled material. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the price. Once you customize a couple things and add $4 for the wagyu it gets a bit pricey. It won't keep me from going back, though! read more

Went to TRB in Carrollton last night based upon the Yelp reviews. The food blew me away, the decor is really cool (in a casual-funky way) and the staff (including the GM who stopped by each table to make sure everything was great) were friendly and helpful. The place was spotless. Overall a super experience. And the burgers (I had the "Sexy Hawaiian" with kangaroo meat)? OMG, I think they may be the best I have ever eaten. Up until yesterday my #1 burger place was Liberty Burger, but sorry Liberty, you have been dropped to #2 by TRB. Any place with burgers called: "The Spicy Goat", "The Lost Mexican", "Frito Bandito" and "Sexy Hawaiian" has to be good. This is my favorite burger place, I used to be here once a week until I decided to go to school full time. My usual is the western, tried the spicy goat a couple of days ago, it was also lovely. I always get fries and fried green tomatoes on the side. I'll make an arnie with whatever flavor lemonade they have at the time and the watermelon tea, the tea is my favorite drink out of anywhere. I have high standards for food, this place meets them. No complaints service wise. One time they gave me a boatload of fries because they were late outta the fryer. This place is DELICIOUS. The food is awesome, the atmosphere is great and I would go as far to say that it's one of the best burgers around. The Southern Comfort comes with a bourbon glaze with fried green tomatoes on it, YES PLEASE. The sweet potato chips leave you craving more. You must make it a point to eat here. Not only is the food good but the staff makes the trip worth while. The manager, Russell, is so awesome and checks on you to make sure you have a good experience. The create your own fries with 2 additional toppings is wonderful too. The crowd was great for families, dates or just a fun group outing. My favorite drink is the twisted mule. I love this locaation as well as all the other. I have been many times with many types of burgers. Only had one issue where they didnt cook the burger well done and they remade it but otherwise no major issues. The bottom bun is always incredibly soggy no matter what type of burger I get so I get an extra bun (no charge). I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. I've never heard of a Twisted Root place before, but reading the reviews apparently it's a chain of some sort. Anyway, our order was wrong, the food was a little bit overpriced for what it is and the burgers were so well done they were nearing burned. The pretzel bun was small and pathetic looking, like they were end pieces in a loaf, they didn't even fit the patty half way across. You won't get the variety of this place, but some fast food chains have burgers better than this place. read more
