Terrible service and terrible flowers! I don't know how Debi gets such great reviews after the experience I had. Apparently she doesn't know how to deal with complaints. My brother in Florida sent me flowers for my birthday. They were delivered on a Thursday and by Tuesday the following week, they were dead. I called Debi's Designs and it went to voicemail twice. So I left a message late Tuesday afternoon. I called her again Wednesday afternoon since she didn't return my call. She said she got my message and reviewed my order. She didn't say why she didn't call and I didn't ask and I wondered if she even planned on calling me back. But she said one of the flowers (I don't recall the name of it) only lasts a few days. That was a surprise to me because I've never had flowers last only a few days. Why would anyone sell flowers that only last a few days? She also said that Asiatic lilies and roses only last about 5 days, which isn't true. I've had roses last more than a week and have had lilies last about 2 weeks from other florists. Maybe hers only last 5 days. If that's the case I don't know why she doesn't get more complaints and bad reviews. She said if I would've called the day after I received them, then she would've replaced them. Why would I call the next day when they didn't start wilting or dying until a few days later? I also told her that I work too and have a hard time making calls during the day since she closes before I get off work. She said that's not an excuse and repeated it several times and talked over me. I mentioned that I bought flowers from Jewel a week and a half ago and they were still thriving and she told me she was offended by that comment. I told her the only reason I brought it up is because I take care of flowers by trimming the stems and changing the water. So the reason for her flowers dying wasn't because I wasn't taking care of them. And I told her I was disappointed that flowers that came from a florist died so quickly. I thought they would've lasted longer than flowers from Jewel. She told me she gets great reviews from all her customers. Then she became very rude and loud. I told her she was horrible. She said I was horrible and told me to never call her again and hung up. I've never had that bad of an experience with any other business. I wasn't yelling or angry or swearing. I was very calm until she raised her voice. I've never had flowers die on me that quickly and wanted her to know. But I guess she doesn't care if any customers are unhappy because she has enough customers that give her great reviews. Terrible way to run a business! I give 5 stars for the flowers I ordered, but 0 stars for customer service. I'm not sure how she stays in business when she's ridiculously difficult to reach on the phone. Out of 5 calls, she answered once, on the 3rd call, when she took my order (after not returning the voicemail from my first call from several hours earlier or my second call). I was about to go elsewhere thinking she must not want the business. This was for a $100 arrangement and 2 balloons...not a cheap order. I've called twice since then to request the receipt I asked for last week, and no answer or callback. It shouldn't be this difficult to do business. Next time, I'll go elsewhere. read more

My friend ordered flowers for my mom, who was in the hospital. The flowers were sent to the house, but no one was there to receive them. I got a call from the delivery driver and immediately called Debi at the shop to see if it'd be possible to redirect them to the hospital. Debi was extremely kind and understanding and immediately reached out to her driver. Even though it was a little late in the day, they made sure that my mom was able to get the flowers. I was already so impressed with the level of customer service that I received, but the flowers themselves were fresh and beautiful. My mom loves them and they helped to brighten her day. I made the mistake of ordering from 1-800-FLOWERS for my mother-in-law's funeral last weekend and they were NEVER delivered. I would have ordered them from Debi's but because the funeral was in Belvidere I didn't think she would deliver that far away. Next time I'll call Debi first. Dependability and trust in my book are key factors!
