On the way back from the Tidewater area I was seeking a place for some good, local grub and saw the reviews for Two Drummers and came here. The parking was packed on a weekday around 1PM and when I went inside, they were really busy, but there was plenty of seating at the bar, so I chose that. My server was great! Very friendly and helpful with the menu. She said one of her favs for lunch was their smoked meatloaf, so I chose that. I got it with a side of mac & cheese. It came out pretty quickly and looked and smelled really good. It tasted great! I love a good smoked meatloaf and this one definitely fit the bill! The mac & cheese was decent. The mashed potatoes and gravy that the meatloaf was sitting on were also really good. I have to say, I wasn't too impressed with their spicier BBQ sauce, it didn't seem spicy to me, almost tasted just like the regular BBQ sauce (wonder if someone filled the bottle with the wrong stuff?), but their mustard based sauce was excellent and I used it primarily. Overall, a great visit, I'd definitely return and would recommend stopping in! The other nice thing is they're right on Rt60, so I didn't have to get back on that horrible 64 when done, I took 60 back to 295, which is less stressful than 64 - so it was a win win!!

Smoke pork plate with coleslaw and hush puppies. Served with cornbread.

Great food and service. Time to receive food was slower due to Father's Day crowd, but worth the wait. The Bama sauce was yummy! Had the pork plate and other in the party had the brisket French dip. Both were great. Cornbread is sweet and moist. Hush puppies were yummy served with honey. Quaint location popular with locals.

She got the 3 little bigs, hush puppies, and 3 cheese macaroni I got the iron clad burger with fries

Doesn't look like much from the outside but that's the best you can hope for!!! We knew it was going to be good when you could smell the brisket from outside. I wasn't even hungry before we walked inside, ate the whole 7oz burger and fries. I'm from like Arizona - Texas so I know a good smokehouse, give them your love!!!! It's so worth it and pretty cheap.

Brisket Burnt Ends

We stopped in as we traveled from Richmond to Williamsburg. Service was excellent. My husband ordered a plate that included ribs and brisket, and I had the brisket burnt ends. My burnt ends came with a different sauce than what they offer on the table, and it was our favorite sauce. I also had a side of fried green tomatoes that were great! The decor is fun with various drum themed items.

Our friends and neighbors have been telling us about Two Drummers, so we had to try it ourselves. We had so much fun going for an early dinner. We walked in around 5:15 pm, and while the bar was pretty full, there were lots of tables open, and one booth. We asked to be seated at the booth. After we sat down, more and more diners arrived. We started with their Mel-garita (a traditional margarita named after one of their bartenders). It was bright and tasty. We also enjoyed their sweet tea. They had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, and we couldn't resist. They were perfectly done--the tomatoes were juicy and crisp, and the breading was light. We dipped them in a yummy tomato ranch. For dinner we ordered the pulled pork sandwich, topped with cole slaw. We also got a side of collards -- so good -- especially with their traditional bbq sauce. We also ordered the brisket entree, with cole slaw and hushpuppies. We enjoyed the tangy vinegar sauce with the brisket. We had so much food, we took half home to enjoy later. The restaurant is casual and laid back. They also have outdoor dining under a tent. Bands play music outside on Thursdays, and we were advised to make reservations for those nights. They may have music other days too. I'm not sure. They take reservations, except day-of, so plan ahead--at least by one day. Now, after writing this review, I'm ready for more Two Drummers BBQ!

He was so welcoming and so sweet to our daughter, while taking our order he asked her what she wanted which I thought was sweet that he included her and joked with her. Pulease, tell me why everyone is giving this restaurant 5-star reviews…read more I was recently looking for a restaurant with BBQ beef ribs and came across 'Smoke'. I looked at the reviews and knew I had to give it a try. When we arrived, my wife and I were quickly seated by the Host. And then we waited. And waited. About 10 min later, I told the Host that we had not seen a waitress yet. He was apologetic and promised to find them for us. A few minutes later, the Waiter showed up and took our orders. I fully planned to order the beef ribs, but the cost of $38 was so far outside the norm that I just couldn't do it. (They actually have a sampler platter that costs $66!!) I ended up ordering the half BBQ chicken, BBQ beans and potato salad. My wife ordered the pulled pork platter, sweet potato fries and Mac & Cheese. Both orders came out quickly, but the first thing I noticed about my dinner was that I was having to 'saw' my chicken to eat it. Most BBQ chicken I have ordered at other restaurants is tender to falling apart. But this one definitely fought back, and though the flavor was not bad, I kept having to add the table-side BBQ sauce (which was good) to flavor it. The beans were nothing special- they were BBQ beans. Frankly the best part of my order was the potato salad which was quite good - a bit more mayonnaisey than normal potato salad, but I found that I actually liked that aspect of it. A couple of times during the meal, the waiter stopped by to see if we needed anything which was good to see. My wife said her pulled pork was okay but also needed supplemental BBQ sauce. She said the Mac and cheese was good, but that the sweet potato fries were overcooked. She ended up not eating them which is very unusual for her. Towards the end of the meal, I ran out of tea and started looking for the waiter. When he did show up, I asked for a refill. He disappeared for an interminable amount of time and then finally returned with our bill. I was still sitting there with an unfinished meal and an empty glass, and still had to remind him that I still needed a refill, and had been waiting for it for a while. He admitted that he had forgotten it, but then actually sat down next to us, seeming to have problems entering our bill in their handheld 'point of sale' device. I asked him again if he could get my drink first. He finally handed me the device to pay the bill and dashed off. He was gone a while again, with me still waiting on my drink. I finally just gave up finishing the meal without something to wash it down with. The Waiter finally came back with a 'tea to go' for me. Though I had planned to order desert for the two of us, we just paid the bill and left, checking off one more restaurant that does not understand that they are in the food AND customer service business. So again, someone tell me why everyone is giving this restaurant 5-stars.

The smell of smoke hits you as soon as you step out of the car--which is always a great sign. We were greeted and seated quickly, and our waitress was attentive from the start. She walked us through the highlights and shared a few of her personal favorites, which was a nice touch. We kicked things off with the Oyster Rockefeller. The oysters themselves were nearly perfect, though the dish leaned a bit salty. Still, a solid start. The crab soup was good as well--also slightly on the salty side, which could just come down to personal preference. Now to the burnt ends--one of my go-to orders anywhere. I'm happy to say these didn't disappoint. Like others have mentioned, the brisket was a touch dry but still impressively tender and full of flavor. The BBQ nachos were messy in the best way and packed with flavor--definitely a hit, especially with my son. As for the slaw, we were told it would be "wet," but it's actually on the drier side, so keep that in mind depending on your preference. Overall, a really enjoyable stop with good food and friendly service. We'd definitely come back again.

I have been here several times to pick up food, but this was my first time actually going inside to order. The line was long around lunchtime, but it moved quickly. It is fast casual style, so you walk down the line choosing what you want and then pay at the register. I honestly had no idea that was how it worked before, so I was prepared to wait a while. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient everything was. I was in and out much faster than expected. While putting my order together, the man helping me handed me a sample rib over the counter. I am a very socially awkward person and do not handle unexpected moments very gracefully, so I probably reacted a little awkwardly. That part was on me. The rib was GOOD though. He was very kind about my reaction and even handed me a napkin. The whole staff was friendly, asking how my week was going and checking in to make sure everyone was happy. Even though it was busy, they clearly care about customer service. The food was great. The garlic and green onion sausage had so much flavor, and the bananamisu was the perfect sweet finish. I originally went in hoping to order the BBQ oxtail, but they were sold out within two hours of opening, which honestly says a lot about how good they must be. I had also gone the day before around 7 PM and they had already closed because they were sold out for the day. Just a heads up that they do close early if they run out of food. Overall, great food, friendly staff, and quick service. I will definitely be back and hopefully I will finally catch the oxtail next time.

If they had they would have heard about missing beer menus, dirty/greasy salt grinders, dead flies littering the window sills next to the tables, slow and disinterested service and a seeming lack of interest of the staff in anything but chatting with each other. County Grill in Yorktown has always been one of our go-to restaurants but unfortunately is fell very short today. We got in early, before the afternoon rush, around 3:45 pm. We were seated quickly in a booth along the front windows and our waitress came over and got us started with cornbread muffins and took our drink order. I did ask for the paper beer list that they always have due to their extensive taps but none were available, a first for me. Neither our waitress or the hostess could explain why they didn't have the normal beer list. I ordered a beer and when asked if I also wanted water like my wife, I said yes. My wife's water showed up almost immediately, mine must have been forgotten but thankfully my beer showed up a short time later. We ordered our dinner, a brisket platter with coleslaw and baked beans and my wife ordered pulled pork. We were one of only two tables in the entire main dining room when we ordered and throughout our meal but waited a surprisingly long time for our food to arrive. When it did arrive, the food looked, smelled and tasted great. The brisket I received was from the tail end of the brisket and was very thin compared to slices from the other end of the brisket I've usually received. I still received the same exact number of smaller slices I usually receive from the bigger end. Not all brisket slices are created equal and today's fell short. My wife used the salt grinder on the table and it was dirty and greasy to the point she had to excuse herself to go wash her hands. While she was gone I noticed the collection of dead flies on the window sill along our booth. Things were just dirty, makes you wonder about cleanliness in areas you can't see as a customer. Although there were a lot of staff in the kitchen and in front of the kitchen none seemed interested in anything but chatting with each other. The exception to that would be our waitress who was very interested in talking to the one other occupied table in the dining room. We had finished dinner and were waiting to pay our bill and get a to-go box for some of the coleslaw. Our waitress was deeply involved in a conversation with the other table and we waited an extended period of time. The multitude of other servers in front of the kitchen had no interest in breaking free to see if we needed anything. Finally our waitress made it back over to our table with the electronic payment machine out, handed it off to me and headed off to find a to-go container, even that seemed to take longer than it should have. Maybe Q-Daddy's is worth a try, maybe they still care and want to prove they want your business and not just ride on prior reputation.
