Great but very price. Movers were very polite and helpful. If they were moving us long distance might be worth it

I am writing this as a public service announcement: Do not hire New Chapters Moving Company. What…read morestarted as a $579 quote turned into a $1,200+ disaster that left my belongings broken, my apartment half-empty, and my storage unit a dangerous mess. 1. Property Damage & Negligence The most devastating part of this move was the complete disregard for my electronics. I provided professional TV boxes with foam corners; instead, they shoved my TVs into two-piece boxes with the screens exposed. Now, both TVs are ruined. One screen is visibly shattered, and neither unit will even power on. They took "professional" equipment and treated it like trash. 2. Price Gouging & Bait-and-Switch This company practices predatory pricing. I was quoted $579. Once they had my items on their truck overnight, the owner demanded $1,260. I felt completely extorted. He offered a measly 10% "discount" when I complained, but the final price was still double the estimate for a job that wasn't even finished. 3. Chronic Unprofessionalism The movers arrived 1.5 hours late and spent the first 30 minutes on the phone with their boss. Despite having a reserved freight elevator and a storage unit only 4 miles away, they moved at a snail's pace. They went "radio silent" for over an hour while I waited for them at the storage facility, later claiming their phones "died." 4. Incomplete Work & Reckless Packing * Abandoned Items: They left numerous boxed-up items sitting right by my apartment door, forcing me to deal with the move myself after paying them over $1,100. * Storage Disaster: They packed my unit so poorly that I can only open the door six inches before items begin falling out. Sentimental items were crushed and broken because they lacked basic stacking skills. 5. Zero Accountability When I sent the owner photos of the damage, he spent 30 minutes on the phone defending his "professionalism" rather than offering a refund for the damaged TVs or the unfinished work. He is a smooth talker who takes no responsibility for his crew's incompetence. I had to hire another company to fix the mess he made. Save your money and your sanity. This company is dishonest, overpriced, and will break your expensive belongings.

Let me begin by saying that I am probably one of the most difficult clients out there. I'm picky,…read morehave way too much stuff, and never have as much help as I need. I despise the entire process of moving. From packing to storage, it is the worst experience I can imagine. That being said, I can only sing the praises of New Chapters Moving Company and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR TEAM!!! From my first encounter with Bridget and constant organized follow-up from Emily, I knew that I'd made the right choice. After so many nightmare companies and irresponsible, rude and uncooperative movers, I was prepared to revisit the moving nightmares of my past. What an incredible surprise when I was graced with THE BEST movers that I'd ever encountered. David, Brandon, Everett and Greg were absolutely the friendliest, most helpful, patient, kind hearted, easy going, FAST AS "F", organized, efficient, movers that I have EVER had the pleasure of using!!! I had everything put in to storage and the packing job they did was EXEMPLARY! The owner George, was extremely generous and offered a discount on the final costs (thank the heavens) and to assure all was going to plan, was in constant communication with me throughout the entire move. He even came out at the end to introduce himself and make sure that I was OK with everything. I haven't a single complaint with New Chapters and if you are contemplating moving and looking for a company that you can trust and afford, I STRONGLY recommend using them!!! They are not part of a chain or franchise, but locally owned and operated!!! Thank you New Movers for making the chaos of moving bearable! 5 Stars!!!

From the beginning, communication was inconsistent and misleading. When we first spoke with a…read morerepresentative, I clearly explained that in addition to our large furniture items, we also had clothes, decorations, and other household belongings that would be packed in boxes. The person provided us with a quote based on that information. A second representative called closer to the move date and did not express any confusion about the scope of our move. However, just a day or two before moving, Justin contacted us and only referenced the large furniture items. When I again mentioned boxes and smaller items, Justin seemed confused and then increased our quote. On moving day, the crew arrived late, and one of the movers smelled strongly of marijuana. The main guy said he was "a little" worried about all of our belongings fitting on the truck, that then somehow lead to about a third to a half of our belongings being left behind. After loading, they told us they would unload the truck the next morning instead of that same day. The lead mover even made a comment along the lines of, "If I was feeling like a cowboy today, we'd unload, but we'll just do it tomorrow." This raised serious concerns about whether they had simply chosen not to finish the job. We later overheard him on the phone with the company falsely stating that we had agreed to next-day unloading, which we absolutely had not. They only unloaded that night after I called and complained to their logistics department. To make matters worse, we were told they needed to make additional stops (including going out of the way to drop off a crew member and get a gas card), and it felt like they treated those delays as if they were our responsibility. I had to drive ahead to Florida to meet the movers, while my mother-in-law and wife, both of whom have physical medical issues, were left to handle the situation. They had to quickly move everything off carpeted areas for a scheduled carpet cleaning, carry remaining items downstairs, and finish cleaning the rest of the house themselves. Later that night, my wife had to drive to Florida to help with things there. Then we had to rent our own truck (at an additional cost), drive back to Savannah, load the remaining items ourselves with the help of a friend, and return to Florida again, late at night. We (my wife, mother-in-law, and I) had to then unload the truck (at 2 am), to be able to return it to avoid further rental charges. When we contacted Justin about the situation, the only solution offered was for us to pay an additional $2,000 for another crew to retrieve the items they left behind, which is why we ended up renting a truck. When we declined, he seemed surprised. He was also rude and condescending throughout our conversations. He lied multiple times.. First saying it was up to the movers whether to load and unload, then claiming it was a mutual decision between us and them, then when he was called out on another lie, he hung up. The movers caused property damage by repeatedly slamming their dolly onto the brick area in front of our house, breaking several bricks. They only put down protective padding after we asked them to. They also left behind trash, including tape and wrapping materials, and caused scuff marks on our walls, leaving us with even more cleanup. Overall, this experience was stressful, unprofessional, and extremely costly, not just financially, but physically and emotionally. I would strongly advise anyone considering this company to look elsewhere.

On the phone, they told me all packing materials and blankets were included. The Movers didn't show up until 3:30 in the afternoon and they didn't wrap or pack anything in blankets. They broke the door completely off of an armoire and broke the hinges on a drop leaf table, leaving one of the leaves hanging by a single screw. Two of the three guys were on the phone most of the time they were moving. There was not a basic standard of care whatsoever. They tried to up-sell me damage insurance on the day of the move and it almost seems like they broke things on purpose because I didn't buy the damage insurance on top of the $560 for 2 hours. I absolutely would not recommend All My Sons moving company.
