I was promised a repair but the company has ignored my repeated emails and calls to get that arranged. To start off, one of the movers made inappropriate remarks to me, starting with "I broke up with my girlfriend yesterday" as he inquired as to my relationship status within TEN minutes (cannot make this stuff up). The driver then got their moving van STUCK in my driveway for more than 3 hours. They arranged a tow truck to free the van and they allowed my stuff to be towed to an unknown tow yard. Abdo was unable to get the truck that day, so my items say somewhere overnight in a tow yard. They promised me a refund of 200.00 for an inconvenience fee. Instead, they had the NERVE to charge an additional 459.00 for the day they unloaded. My favorite part: They attempted to charge my credit card more than 20 times for their additional charges! They kept trying different amounts to get every possible dime out of my account: 25.00, 50.00, 20.00, 100.00....they were successful at maxing out my card. If I could share a screenshot I would! Per the moving contract, they will erase the credit card info on file per request. So, of course, I did request that once I realized what they were doing. Lo and behold, they have still tried charging my card TODAY. I have now had to freeze the card and request a new one. Do NOT use this company. In the moving contract, they specifically state they can basically use your credit card anytime for fees they believe you might owe. They just sent me another invoice this morning.

Johnny and his team, Travis and James, showed up on time and were both personable and very efficient with their work. They were careful with all the pieces (there were some older pieces of furniture that needed to be handled with care). In one case a bolt & washer unscrewed from the stand they had been on, but they found them on the truck for us. They were also very fast with both the loading and unloading of the truck which was great since we all had to drive back to the Triangle from Charlotte. Overall it was a pleasure working with Johnny, Travis & James. I would highly recommend them if anyone is looking for a moving company in the Triangle.

Travis is an absolute professional and strategic in placing items in the truck to maximize usage. Bruce is a joy and charming as charming can be. We chose Safe & Sound because of the company's stellar Yelp reviews and its average Yelp rating when compared to other moving companies in the Triangle. Safe & Sound seemed like a safe bet and I'm happy to report that it was. We moved from a two-bedroom apartment to a two-bedroom condo. We added on: (1) a stop to drop off furniture at my parents' house in High Point, North Carolina and (2) haul-away of some items in Atlanta. The total cost for everything was $4,075, broken down as follows: * 2 movers + equipment, loading in Chapel Hill (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * 2 movers + equipment, loading in Chapel Hill (0.5 hour, additional time required) - $77.50 * 2 movers + equipment, unloading in High Point (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * 2 movers + equipment, unloading in Atlanta (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * Deposit for travel and truck - $50 * Haul-away (junk removal) of double mattress, double box spring, bed frame, one standard dining room chair, and torchiere floor lamp - $125 * Remainder of balance for travel - $2,875 * Additional cost/payment - $182.50 * Tip for mover 1 - $150 * Tip for mover 2 - $150 A $485 total deposit was due upfront to secure the reservation. We asked for the movers to show up at a specific date and time. We paid the $485 total deposit 26 days in advance with a credit card. The rest ($3,590) was paid via multiple Zelle transactions after we arrived in Atlanta. In hindsight, I think I may have overpaid $50 because the $50 deposit for the travel and truck was included in our $485 total deposit. I believe that same $50 was included in the remainder of the balance for travel. In other words, I think the $2,875 above should have been $2,825, but I could be wrong. Also, in my stress and exhaustion from the move, I forgot what the additional cost/payment of $182.50 was for. It made sense at the time, when I signed the form ("Uniform Household Goods Bill of Lading - 35 Miles or Less") after the move was complete. I was just happy it was over and that my wife, the movers, and I all made it safely to Atlanta in three separate vehicles on moving day. I do think all of the costs could have been communicated more clearly in writing for our understanding. Money aside, as for the move itself, it generally went well. We scheduled a 9:00-10:00am arrival window for the movers. This was on a Wednesday. We were packed and ready to go at 9am. Unfortunately, the movers were delayed and showed up around 10:45am. They arrived in a 26-foot white Penske truck. It's my understanding they rented it that morning. While it was overkill for the amount of stuff we had, I believe it was the best available truck at the time. It looked new. The movers were Hamza (lead) and Sula. They were great. Very kind and polite. These were young guys in their early 20s. They both wore Safe & Sound T-shirts. They worked hard, quickly and carefully wrapping and protecting our queen mattress and furniture with stretch wrap and blankets, and moving all sorts of heavy boxes and miscellaneous items (e.g., my awkward and heavy standing desk system, computer monitor, office chair mat, torchiere floor lamp, vacuum cleaner) from our third-floor apartment with no elevator on a hot summer day. At the loading site, we treated them to cold Gatorades. It took them about 1.5 hours to do the load in Chapel Hill. We left Chapel Hill around roughly 12:30pm. Hamza ran the show. We made it clear which items were to be dropped off first in High Point and which items were going all the way to Atlanta. No issues there. My parents were very happy with Hamza and Sula's work at the unload in High Point. The two made it to Atlanta around 10:00pm and the unload in Atlanta took less than an hour. Long day. My wife and I made it to Atlanta earlier - around 7:30pm. Unlike Hamza and Sula, we did not stop in High Point. We wanted to get to Atlanta before them so we could get the condo ready for the unload. It worked out. Hamza told me they were going to try and drive back to Raleigh/Cary that night! Only one of our items, a shoe rack, was damaged. All things considered, not a big deal so I didn't bring it up. I can remember three other moves I did with three other moving companies and one item was damaged in each move. It happens. For the haul-away, I only mentioned the mattress and box spring. I added on the other items when I saw them in Atlanta. They didn't charge me extra for that, which I appreciate and must mention here. I sent the tips directly and individually to Hamza and Sula for a job well done. As for scheduling and payment, my wife and I communicated with Jaber (a.k.a. As far as the actual moving goes, yes, they can lift and move your belongings just fine. My issue was with furniture assembly. Before the move, I specifically spoke with them over the phone and explained that some furniture had been disassembled by my movers in Tucson and would need to be assembled at the destination. They said that was fine. Then, during the move, they suddenly threw in the possibility that they wouldn't assemble some of it because they didn't want to take on the liability. That was frustrating. If you've discussed the requirement beforehand and the company has agreed to it, bringing up a new limitation once the move is already underway puts the customer in a difficult position. The whole reason for discussing these things upfront is to avoid exactly that kind of surprise. To their credit, they did ultimately assemble the furniture, so it worked out. But I'd strongly recommend getting confirmation about assembly beforehand--and preferably in writing. And keep your own tab on the time.

Worst moving experience of our lives. Sales guy (no longer with the company after just a few…read moremonths) didn't communicate to the Operations guy, who didn't relay anything to the crew lead. The sales guy "with over 20 years of experience" grossly underestimated how much packing materials we'd need (only to gouge us later), and ridiculously overestimated how quickly our move would take (they were at our new home past 1 AM on move day). The moving crew was great, expect for the guy who thought it was perfectly reasonable to snack on sunflower seeds and proceed to spit his shells all over our new home. I'd list the crew by name expect I don't want to ruin their chances of getting a new gig somewhere else. They were one of several local moving companies recommended by our realtors who have since removed them from their reference list. The only bright spot, Tabitha, their scheduler (assuming she's still working there).

There's a saying that when hiring a service, you can usually choose two out of three: fast, cheap, or good. Unfortunately, this company delivered none of those. From the beginning there were red flags that we should have recognized alerting us to the disaster ahead. We never received a formal written quote or a contract, and the owner, Ken, handled all communication through unprofessional text messages. On moving day, we had to send multiple texts just to get confirmation that they were actually coming and time. Once they arrived, Ken and one other mover took nearly 10 hours to move a fully packed and wrapped two-bedroom apartment--with no appliances! Everything was organized and ready to go before they arrived. Prior to the move we had also provided a detailed inventory list yet they showed up with a truck that was too small for the job. As a result, they had to make multiple trips, significantly increasing the time and cost of the move. By the end of the day, it felt like they took advantage of our desperation and effectively extorted our family. What should have been a straightforward move became an unnecessarily stressful and expensive experience. I would strongly encourage other families to avoid this company and look elsewhere. I would not recommend them to anyone.

I live in rolesville but the house I was getting furniture from was in Louisburg. I had planned for about 2 hrs of labor. They showed up right when they said, the truck was huge and packed with the essentials of moving (blankets, tie downs, etc.) they wasted no time, got everything loaded, unloaded a majority of it in THE POURING RAIN in Rolesville and then unloaded the remainder at my storage facility .The guys, Daniel or maybe Brandon (I think that was his name) and DJ, were fast, friendly, strong and did a great job. For those reviews that say the truck is small, see photo. I did not feel like it was small at all! Also, I thought these guys were fast, friendly, polite and pretty much anything you'd want a small moving company to be.

During my move, two drawers on my dresser were broken. My couch was placed on the grass in front of the wrong house, where it was hit by a sprinkler and got wet. The couch was also damaged internally, including damage to the frame. And unfortunately, those examples represent only a small portion of the broken items, damage, and mishandling I witnessed throughout the move. Beyond the physical damage, very little care was taken with where my belongings were placed in my new home. Boxes and furniture ended up on the wrong floors. My bed and mattresses were left on the main floor even though all of the bedrooms are on the third floor. The crew ultimately stopped for the day without completing the move properly, leaving me with damaged belongings, heavy items in the wrong places, and a significant amount of work to sort out on my own. To their credit, the company did attempt to address some of the problems afterward. Unfortunately, in my view, that effort did not come close to making me whole. Some damage simply cannot be undone, and I did not feel their response reflected the extent of the damage or the condition in which my belongings were left. One of my biggest concerns was how little protection I felt I had once things went wrong. I was not offered additional insurance coverage by Scooby during the process, and the compensation offered afterward did not come close to covering what I believe was the actual damage. I am now left with a couch that cost approximately $2,000, was exposed to water, suffered internal damage, and is not even paid off yet. I would not recommend Scooby Moving based on my experience. I am sharing this because I wish I had better understood the risk beforehand. A move requires trusting people with your home and your belongings, and in my case, that trust was not handled with the level of care, professionalism, or accountability I expected.
