I'll start by saying that my experience was a 100% nightmare. The guys were friendly enough and showed up at a decent time, so those are about the only positives I can mention. The movers were extremely unprofessional when it came to handling my belongings. They didn't seem to work well together, and they often carried more than they could safely manage. As a result, several items were dropped or damaged. One example was a file cabinet that was damaged so badly that it is no longer usable. They also damaged my $2,000 leather couch. They wrapped it with probably $100 worth of packing materials--which I had to pay for--yet they still left a significant portion of the couch exposed and unprotected. If you don't purchase full-value protection, you quickly find out that you have very little coverage for damaged belongings. But the damage wasn't the worst part. After the movers left, I realized that some of my belongings were missing. I had a couple of random boxes containing various items from my house that I had packed at the last minute. Both boxes were gone. I checked my old house and my new house, and they were nowhere to be found. Some valuable items were in those boxes, and unfortunately, I have no way to recover them. Everyone involved simply says, "I don't know. I didn't see anything." When I contacted management, I was essentially told that it was a legal matter and that I should call the police. At that point, there wasn't much I could realistically do. I ended up taking the loss and moving on. However, I want to warn anyone considering using this company: these movers were extremely unprofessional, and I would not recommend them. We had an awesome experience with Two Men And A Truck. The scheduling process with Sarah was easy; she asked all the pertinent questions pertaining to the type and size of the furniture to be moved. The crew; Gary, Keith, Michael, and Robert arrived on time and immediately requested to give them a quick walkthrough to ascertain the size and location of the furniture to be loaded. They then proceeded with protecting and carefully wrapping all furniture in plastic. Everyone was very careful moving about as to not cause any damage to the furniture, walls, or doors. At our new home they were very meticulous as to not cause any damage to the low ceiling while moving a 4-poster bed and accompanying Queen Mattress and Boxspring up the stair. I helped a friend move into her new condo and she hired Two Men and a Truck for the big items that we weren't able to handle. The 2 movers, Jay and Kenny, were great. They wrapped everything neatly and caringly with plastic wrap before moving it. They worked quickly and in fact finished a hour sooner than the estimated time. I decided to use this company because my partner recently did and had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, I did not. The movers took an hour longer than my estimate, so it was $200 more than I anticipated. I received a $40 refund because of this, but $40 is nowhere close to $200. I also had a couple of my items damaged. While I did receive $160, one of the items was vintage and previously in great condition. I SPECIFICALLY asked that they ONLY contact by email because I am not interested in being spammed or speak to anyone on the phone unless we decided on their service after reading an estimate. What did they do? Well, so far I've received phone calls and several TEXTS, which I never approved of or asked for, spamming me about their service. Unbelievable, and a huge invasion of privacy. The final text referred me to some movers in Yorktown?? I don't live anywhere near Yorktown. I have scratches on my furniture and things are broken. Mattress was dirty even with a mattress protector on it. I hired this company to move me from an apartment to a condo 15 minutes away from each other with 3 men helping and it took 4 hours. I have never had a move take that long. I barely had any furniture (dining table, chairs, shelves) (all broken down and wrapped) and mostly boxes. The actual men moving me were incompetent and slow. The flow of the move was a disaster. I had to give them direction on how to move stuff around efficiently. I will NEVER HIRE this company again. They took an hour off but the guy on the phone was very condescending telling me because they took an hour off they won't be responsible for any damage. They wanted to charge me almost $600. I booked my move a month in advance. I was told I'd receive 2 follow up calls PRIOR to the move, just to solidify details. I received ONE call. When the movers did arrive, they were 1.5 hours late. I had to call the office just to figure out where the movers were -- no one proactively contacted me. When the driver finally did reach out, he said they'd be about 15 minutes. 45 minutes later, they showed. All of my things were neatly packed in Hefty plastic, clear storage containers. Other things were in their original boxes. The TV was bubble wrapped, and the couch was freshly cleaned. Still, any home that has been consistently lived in for a decade will have dust, random pieces of trash to be swept up, and things scattered about. But, it was by no means filthy. Still, I suppose the two finicky movers thought otherwise. I lived in an old, drafty Church Hill house that was not well cared for. The landlord allowed holes in the laundry room floor. The place was poorly sealed. Periodically, a waterbug would get in -- maybe once a month. A gross annoyance, but by no means an infestation. I guess the guys found a dead one in the corner or something. So,they come to me, say they're going to get paperwork from the truck, and will be back for me to sign. About 15 minutes pass and I look outside -- the truck is gone! I call the company, and the person in the office says, "Oh yeah. I was just about to call you. The guys didn't feel safe doing the move. They said everything was dirty and there were a bunch of roaches" Of course, I lost it. It was my moving day, and I know that if I hadn't called, no one would have contacted me. I ended up having to send the office pictures and video to prove that their guys were completely full of crap. After a few minutes, I finally get a call back from the office, "We'll go ahead and do the move for you. I have another guy coming in, and we'll be there in an hour" The new guys showed up when they said they would, and followed instructions to come to the back porch (unlike the first pair). One had a serious attitude when he walked in -- like he wasn't used to even the mildest physical labor, and didn't want to be bothered. The other guy w/ the glasses was pleasant and helpful, and didn't whine at all. The labor-shy one started going on about how he didn't know whether the couch could get out of the house, and that he didn't want to move it! Like....what??? Wtf kind of mover complains about moving a couch??? If the couch made it into the house, it would surely make it out. He literally looked at me and said he didn't feel like he wanted to try getting it off the back porch. His non-whiny partner, with the glasses, looked at him like he was crazy. Of course. Labor-Shy proceeded to complain about how the boxes were heavy. I mean, come on. I am a person with a disability and chronic back pain and arthritic knees. If I can pick up the box and move it downstairs, what is this burly, able-bodied guy crying about??? Once we got to the new place, Labor-Shy had adjusted his attitude, but he'd already left a bad taste in my mouth from the earlier interactions. The fact that I'd just paid for two hours of labor and STILL DIDN'T HAVE MY COUCH -- I was not pleased. I tipped them anyway, because they did move a lot of the stuff. But, now I have to beg a couple of friends to move a couch. It completely defeated the purpose of hiring movers. My experience with this company was wretched. The only reason they got one star is because the guy with glasses was really nice, and didn't seem scared to do work. I feel bad writing this review because he was so nice, and doesn't deserve any bad reviews associated with his work. Too bad the guys before him, and the guy who tagged along with him, were all basically the worst. Also, Two Men, if your drivers want to bail on a move, maybe have them call the office, hand the customer the phone and let us speak to management directly. My experience was HORRIBLE they broke my lamp, scratched several pieces of my furniture, broke an antique dresser and to make matters worse they stole valuable jewelry from my nightstand, which I witnessed with my own eyes but before I realized what he was doing he wrapped the nightstand and put it on the truck. I reported it to his boss when we realized the jewelry was missing and damages were done, but I was told the employees go through a background check and they don't have any complaints with stealing. I was reimbursed for the damages $200, but as for the jewelry it's gone. Yes, I did report it to the police, however, the officer dragged the investigation out for a month and a half so I wasn't able to pick out the suspect and of course no one confessed; CASE CLOSED! While the men that did my move worked very hard, they were not professionals. They damaged my property (Both homes) in the process. Two were seasoned professionals, Two were high school kids. We had internals on a antique grandfather clock that were apparently damaged during transport. Clock still works. Chimed until they picked it up, doesn't chime any longer. Reached out to them, initial response was we will get it fixed, then radio silence, then "sorry if there is no external damage, its not our problem" Please see attached T&C that explains we aren't responsible for anything that we break. Will be getting it fixed and taking them to court. They can spend their time and money on legal representation and time in small claims court then, that's fine with me. Normally I use another company, but they turned out to have had a Covid case and had to wait another 10 days to take any jobs. I needed someone sooner, so I began hunting. Out of all the companies, this was the only one I called that, while it appears small and local, they actually may be larger, as they had a professional answering system that allowed me to talk to a human being and set up the move. I learned they are a decent sized company, and insured. That was important to me, as it should be anyone, who is trusting others to move their items. For the record; I called about 4 other listings of Yelp before these guys. None of them answered the phone, and they all had answering machines, many informing you to text them if you needed to speak sooner. Clearly, they were these folks personal or work cell phones--and not a large company. My concern was that these many be folks with a pick up truck who can lift and move items--and if damaged or broken, it's doubtful they would be insured and could replace a anything damaged or broken. I was actually surprised that, day of, the company called and asked to begin SOONER! So we did that. The original quote, compared to the company I usually use, was less! I didn't have much to move and while a two hour minimum is required, they will tell you a price estimate that includes ANOTHER two hours on top. They also have insurance; I opted for it, because I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Like the other company, not with the same name, two men arrived in a truck. I had a lot of glass desks to move, so one wrapped these all while the other moved and placed them on the truck. They cleared out at 8 by 10 foot room in 40 min. They drove to, unloaded, and moved everything into my new location in about also 40 min. Everything was done in under two hours, so we were charged just the minimum, the insurance, and asked to not include gratuity into the total, but to separately pay them. We made sure to have cash on hand for a tip, but I wanted to tip twice as much--I was just THAT impressed! The worst thing that happened was simply a wooden shelf at the bottom of my desk--which I hadn't secured properly when assembling the desk--fell off and hit the pavement as it was placed into the truck. I don't know that it suffered any damage and being that cheap, pressed, "wood", I wasn't worried about it. I know it only feel off because I never actually screwed the board down--I placed it there as I just never use the shelving anyway. I highly recommend these guys; Speedy, reliable, and honest--they will warn you if an object seems to delicate for them to move (This almost was an issue with my printer, which is unusually large, so be aware that electronics are something you need to be sure to inform them of--including if they are not the typical, as I had mentioned the printer, but they expected a typical one and honestly told me that it may be too delicate to move.) However, they offered to prepare it for me to move it--but in the end, they were able to pack and move it! Hire these guys--you won't regret it! read more

I was actually very nervous moving during this time (COVID) but the whole team was on point in spite of working remotely and having no in house evaluation. Tons of antiques, fragile items, and a super heavy commercial grade elliptical machine. Antwon and Jamar were amazing (ask for them...wink wink). Professional, friendly, and experienced. They also were great at communicating and worked almost constantly. Two Men and a Truck had fresh new equipment, blankets, and trucks which was nice and provided peace of mind. I will say this to any potential customer, the better prepared you are the smoother, more secure, and more affordable your move will be. I have moved a bunch of times both local and long distance. The office team were nice and noted the job description: number of floors, rooms, item amount, the whole thing (and we have the receipt to prove it). The movers showed up with a rude attitude, reeking of marijuana, and complaining about the particulars of the job. When they made their first round to the new home, it was only then they stated that they will not be returning to move the remainder of items (the move between houses is exactly 3 blocks apart), they blocked our driveway and refused to leave until they receive payment in full and the office was unreachable at this time...I was at the hospital at the time and my wife was forced to hire another company to finish the job. This is not the first time working with this company. When my wife and I first moved in together, they refused to move her bed, stating that they were unable to move a particular bolt. We were very pleased from beginning to end with the service provided by Two Men and a Truck for our recent move. We asked the 3 man delivery crew to place some very heavy, bulky furniture pieces in bedrooms on the 2nd floor of our new home. While challenging, the crew did not give up and finally figured out ways to "defy physics" to get the pieces placed where we wanted them. I had also informed the crew that the house was newly painted, requesting they be as careful as possible to not damage the pristine walls. They were mindful of this and no major damage occurred. There was one damage incident to a dresser mirror and the wall where it was placed, but Two Men and a Truck contacted me immediately and arrangements were made to reimburse us for the repairs needed. They handle everything with great care. They were very friendly and had me moved within 7 hours. This would've taken me a week to do alone. Very respectful. Classic bait-and-switch. I hired this company to merely unload my boxes from a U-Pack trailer sitting on my driveway into my new home. The representative quoted an hourly rate, but failed to mention that Two Men & a Truck also charges for travel time--even though they did not transport my stuff anywhere. To extract extra money for time spent by the moving guys to commute to the job, this added nearly $200 to the entire cost! The representative also failed to mention a $75 "valuation" fee--not sure what for. The first time I learned of either fee was after the move had already occurred. The movers did a solid job, and I have no complaints against their work. But, even they were embarrassed by how this all went down--because they see this happen to customers over and over and over again. Do not hire. In fact, I'm reporting them to the Better Business Bureau for classic moving industry bait-and-switch tactics. read more

Very disappointed with the moving team including their lack of covid policy compliance and lack of professionalism. I watched a drawer fall 6 feet and break in the corner because they were lazy and didn't wrap the dresser correctly. They didn't take one of the desks apart even though it was only 5 screws and scuffed new paint. One mover even told me he was in a lazy mood and didn't want to deal with taking it apart. They knocked off a plastic light fixture, remarked that at least it didn't break and didn't think to go get it/fix the light. Additionally, they ended up bringing a shovel. When I said it wasn't mine they realized it was from the last delivery and made no effort to return it. read more

They left boxes on the truck, forgot my items next to my storage shed. The storage shed manager called me to let me know. Plus they didn't move everything as planned. The worst moving experience I have ever had. It's currently 11 PM, the movers came at 2:15, and our total bill was over twice to eight times the original quote. I say this because the movers were slated to arrive between 1 and 3 and the end time was supposed to be 4. We were given a price of $150/hour with three men moving. Over the course of the day, one of the guys left which obviously makes things slower but we were still charged the same rate, plus more. Honestly this gave my family nightmares, as the reason we hired a moving company this time around was because my dad has seriously injured his leg in an accident and was recovering, so having to helplessly deal w their incompetency and the exorbitant, unjustified bill was traumatic. read more

April edit: Lowered to two stars given how things have been handled after the move. NOTE: Between packing and moving, we paid this company just over $10,400. That doesn't count the hundreds in dollars we paid the movers in tips or in buying them multiple meals/snacks. This was an expensive move. For the price of the $250 Xbox and a straightforward furniture repair, they are handling it in a way that is leaving a bad taste in our mouth. We have a large house and they recently completed part 2 of our move. The staff was very friendly during the day of the move, though I did get tired of one person telling me about giving them a good tip. We had some wood furniture damaged. This is to be expected on a move and we seem to be working through their process. Our move is now over a month over so I wish we would have gotten this resolved by now. We had an Xbox that we are pretty sure was clearly stolen. The only missing item. Because our kids were going nuts without it, we went ahead and replaced it. Rather than just pay for this missing item that one of their employees stole, we were told to file a police report. Jumped through that hoop and now we're told they will pay a depreciated amount if we submit a copy of our purchase of that old xbox. It's a hassle and they know it's as hassle in my opinion. Rather than preserve their reputation over a $250 purchase, we were told to file a police report, and then send in a receipt for the original purchased Xbox. We are moving on (which I think is the point) and we noted we would update the review. If something changes, we'll update the review. Further update: It is possible for a company to both compensate me for the loss of our property and let the police investigate it. They have chosen not to do that. Furniture repair: Their employees tore off the leg of a Chippendale type table that is over 100 years old. The furniture repair company showed up today and told us they were told to do as little as possible to "make it look good" defined as staining the damaged part. That is not the definition of repairing a damaged table. Still working through this repair process to get a true repair done. I had a very good experience with the first part of our move. I'm disappointed with the second part of the move, especially with how this part is being handled. read more

I was a bit disappointed as to how they stored my furniture on the truck. I was expecting things to be covered so dirt or dust wouldn't be an issue later. 2 of the 3 gentleman were very respectful but, when you have cloth furniture you don't want to find wet spots from the movers sweating on my things. On one of my chairs that had pillows in them was soaked ; along with the arms on the chair. I helped the gentleman out with the next one so it would be wet and also softened him something to wipe him off so, he wouldn't mess up anymore of my things. I wouldn't use them again! read more
