    Furniture and rugs thrown into storage unit.

    The only reason I rate this moving company with 1 star is because a 0 star is not an option. This is the ABSOLUTE worse moving company and is completely UNETHICAL. They sent 5 movers of which 2 had some knowledge about moving the other 3 were pick up day laborer that they called 'trainees' with clearly no experience in moving household furnishing. I stopped them from laying the furniture down on the side and sliding it down the stairs. The stairs are not damaged. I walked through every room and gave them an exact inventory, informed them I would be moving into storage and that I needed to drop a few items at my new address. The 1st day they were still moving at 1:00 am, they informed me I needed to pay that night because they had a number of clients who refused to pay after the furniture was unloaded...what a LIE. The next day a guy who claimed to be a manager came to the storage facility and threatened me - they would keep my furniture - unless I paid the invoice that was almost twice as much as the original estimate. Claimed they had no knowledge of the additional stop, didn't take into consideration the walk or elevator time associated with a move into storage BUT he would go back to the office, listen to the recording and come back to me. I have phoned repeatedly to follow up on the excessive charge and to repair my damaged stairs, there is always some excuse why no one is available. I do plan to file a claim with the BBB, Michigan Consumer Affairs, the TV investigative reporters and any other avenue I can pursue to avoid other consumers being taken by these UNSCRUPULOUS, LYING, INCOMPETENT, BAIT and SWITCH CON ARTIST. I also plan to file a claim that this group of SCAM ARTISTS are in violation of the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.

    Our move from St. Louis to Ypsilanti, MI in August 2025 was a mixed bag. Hard to say if I would…read morerecommend them. We did 90% of the packing ourselves. The positives include: 1. A thorough review of the contents to be moved versus the cursory review by competitors. 2.A competitive price. 3.Our things were moved in dedicated trucks and not mixed in with other people's stuff. 4. Honestly about damages: a table literally fell apart during packing and the crew pointed it out to me rather than concealing it. 5. No high pressure sales tactics. 6. The guys were patient with my wife repositioning furniture at the destination. 7. Nothing was broken although we had quite a few minor dings in furniture. 8. Crews showed up on time at both ends of the trip. Negatives include: 1.No formal acknowledgement of payment. They were almost offensively anxious to get the final payment even though the third and final truck had not arrived. 2. Loss of focus at the end of the day: We did a walkthrough at the end of the loading process. Every time we found something that needed to go into the truck, the guy leading the walkthrough took it out, chatted with the guys on the truck, and then we would lose our place. This resulted in a few things being left behind. At delivery, the guys took down a door to get furniture into the basement but never put it up again. They also left a moving blanket and personal items belonging to one of the guys. The items were eventually restored to their owner. 3. Not mentioning messes or problems. After the truck left I found that one of our toilets was plugged with toilet paper, paper towels, and human waste from someone that was apparently ill. Fortunately, I found the problem and was able to unplug the toilet and clean things up so this mess was not left for our cleaning crew. I think I would have responded calmly to this if I had been told about it. I can appreciate that it would have been embarrassing to report this to me. I'm human too.

The broke numerous items, one of the four movers quit midway through the first day and wasn't replaced, adding to the total hours. Two of them were on their first day and had no idea how to pack. A single saucer had two feet of paper wrapping. They added things from different rooms to boxes, so a toaster in the box with the bedding, etc. They broke two things, gouged the stairs, stole a bottle of pain killers, asked if they could have one of our personal items, and left a bunch of stuff at the old house we had to hire a separate hauler to move. Do not hire them--it was a complete disaster and mismanaged from beginning to end.

    I'm a single senior citizen moving for the first time in 25 years, with no help. I explained all…read moreof this when I called Fordson, and they were super accommodating and friendly. Two guys showed up with a huge truck; took about 2 hours to load and drove the 60+ miles to my new home. I explained that I would have to leave before they finished, so I could drive back to Dearborn in the daylight (eyesight issues). That's when it all fell apart. I went back the next day to find plastic wrap strewn around the house, leaves all over the inside of the house, items left wrapped, a dirty bathroom and smoke smell. I contacted Fordson, and was told a slew of lies the worker told him; He said I told them not to enter the garage, FALSE. He said he couldn't find anywhere to dispose of the plastic wrap - THERE WAS A GARBAGE CAN IN THE DRIVEWAY NEXT TO THEIR TRUCK, I was told they aren't responsible for cleaning up after the job. I told Fordson I felt taken advantage of, being alone and older, and that his employee was lying. They made no accommodation and essentially blew me off once they were paid. My Advise: WATCH THEM EVERY MINUTE and make sure a man is around. They will lie and cheat and take advantage of a single woman. BEWARE.

Despite having a full schedule, they fit me in, were 110% reliable, and great to communicate with from the onset. I worked with Mark on arranging the job. Al did the move and was awesome to work with. You won't go wrong with Fordson. I highly recommend them. In fact, I'm on Yelp right now looking up their information to hire them again and realizing I forgot to submit this well-deserved review from back in April. So, I'm happy to finally be getting that done for them.

Full stop…read more My husband, 3-year-old and I had the opportunity to purchase one of my family's homes in my hometown of DC and things came about quickly and with lots of anxiety. Luckily, I found Tori and, even on the initial estimate walkthrough, she was immediately calming, and so "you-got-this!" that we really felt like we did. Once we hired Tori, she came in like a well-organized storm and got us into a groove that even felt good to a feverish sickie like me (I had a bad cold which was kicking my butt); she recommended and coordinated a phenomenal experience with a great moving company, got us packed (with the exception of the art and record collection, which we left for the movers) within 3 sessions - while entertaining and including our rambunctious 3-year-old, taught us very doable future organizing tools for the new place and was a genuine blast to be around. And when we initially thought we'd be unpacking as soon as we arrived - instead of getting renovations done first as we settled on doing - she offered to put us in touch with a DC-based organizer or to come down and help us herself. Yes, techincally you can just dig in and declutter yourself, but when you engage Tori you get several benefits: 1) You carve out a designated time to do this activity 2) Because you're investing in it, you take it very seriouslyi 3) You're saving all the "trial and error" you'd normally get when trying to DIY, which can waste your time and money (if buying mutliple "organization solutions") 4) You get very pro advice! 5) You wouldn't be researching an organizer if you would've done it yourself! Regarding #3: Just having Tori show up and say "do this, change that, get rid of this, and implement these systems" accomplished a home transformation for us in 4 hours. If I tried to do that on my own time, it would've taken 25+ hours, or never have been done properly. We felt confident. Boy were we wrong! $15k down the drain. Everything became a complaint or an argument. We had picked them specifically because they said they would build a crate for the lathe and charged another $1000 to do it. On the day John argued he would not move it and had never agreed to. Much less build a crate for it. I ended up providing makeshift materials and show them how to safely move it. When it got here things were bent and broken. While getting boxes in the truck two of them kept pushing each other around like two little kids. They eventually dropped a bed frame on the hardwood floor and then one pretended to be hurt. We saw it. It never touched him but he screamed it broke his foot and was bleeding. Yet somehow he had no issues moving boxes. The same two guys kept pushing each other around until finally one was thrown right where a snow plow was being moved. The plow flipped over and narrowly missed his foot! I turned white. The truck they brought was not big enough. They had to go and offload it and return. That took them 4 hours. We had to walk behind them around the house because they would constantly not grab all the boxes from rooms but close the door and say it was all done. Always an argument ensued. Things like yard equipment, glass and awkwardly shaped things were taken separately on the truck. When these guys arrived they had two trucks and just 3 people. As they opened the truck I saw one of my generators sitting upside down! The lathe was loosely strapped to the side of the truck sitting on the same material I provided. Things on it were bent and broken from bouncing around. All the yard equipment and awkwardly shaped items were just stuck in tall garment boxes. Trim pieces from my truck I had just painted were scratched and rubbed through. Ruined. Boxes were crushed. The guy with the "broken foot" kept limping around. John hardly did anything. Boxes were placed any which way pretty much anywhere. We had to insist and argue for boxes to be taken where they belonged. Things that went into storage were just chucked in and boxes placed right at the entrance. It was a mess. We gave up on having the furniture put back together as we just wanted them to leave.

It was very satisfying to remove all of the junk I didn't really need to move in the first place. When Amy says, "order is restored" , order is restored. We began working together 3 days a week 4 hours per day and continue to work for several months as my health permitted. When we made plans and I couldn't meet the commitment because of my health, Amy was always gracious about rescheduling. I cannot recommend her enough. We started small because I was rather overwhelmed, but it worked out so well. She even worked her magic on my refrigerator. The approximate cost of service provided is an hourly cost.

I hired this company on 8/13/25, and the experience was awful from start to finish. They were scheduled for 9 AM but didn't arrive until after 10. The original quote was $379 for the first two hours with two movers and $169 for each additional hour (spoke with John). Without asking me, they decided to bring a third mover, which raised the rate to $515 for the first two hours and $239 for each additional hour. Jake assured me this would save money because the move would go faster, but instead, it dragged on for seven hours just to move some furniture and boxes. To make things worse, Jake didn't even have a proper receipt--he reused an old one and scribbled over it. During the move, they dropped my couch off the truck and broke both front legs. Jake admitted it, saying, "Well, that happens. I'll come back and fix it." We paid in full immediately (they also charge extra for credit card payments), but as of 9/19/25, the couch is still broken and Jake has never come back. This company is unprofessional, careless, and dishonest. Use them at your own risk.
