They spent over an hour searching for the missing part and proceeded to bill me at the hourly rate during that time. The original quote was for three movers, but they sent four and charged me the higher rate. Both practices were highly unethical, especially since the expected time with three movers exceeded the actual time. The total charge was double that of a quoted move with a competitor. The staff suggested I had no reason to complain since a third party paid for the move, which was, to say the least, insulting. The piece of furniture in question was inexpensive but new. I attempted to fix it with brackets and reinforcements from a hardware store, but it still wobbled. Having moved myself several times, I have never lost a piece of furniture during a move. I wrote to the company, which refused to take responsibility and suggested I make a claim for the .60 cents per pound. I only used this moving company because it met the building's requirements. I would advise anyone to use this company with caution, as their practices are unethical. At least for this move, they were unprofessional and refused to take responsibility for my loss. I have used two other movers in the past ( I am begging to think my girl is either running from the law or in witness protection) and Movers of Honor quote came in about 10% higher. So why did I go with them? The veteran owned part made me first contact them and their other Yelp reviews made me give them a shot ( movers with great reviews are hard to find) What a genuinely nice group of 4 guys and they hustled. I had a packed 2 bedroom house on the second floor and stuff in the basement and they got everything loaded and unloaded and NOTHING damaged in 3 hours. My last mover had 3 guys and it took them 6 hours! I am only sorry to say that if all goes to plan I won't be using them again. Unless my girl really is on the run, then they'll be my first call. Pictures say it all. They also didn't have the pre-work paperwork and they had no tools. When someone finally brought tools to my building, they only gave them a drill without the type of drill bit they needed (they said a star bit was too specialized to disassemble my bed), so they had to disassemble all furniture manually with a screwdriver. took over 6 hours and that was with my friend and I also unloading the truck. They just told me I had the "basic insurance" (that I had to hurriedly sign in the middle of the move) and only offered to give me $100 back with no negotiation. I can't even remember the last time I posted a negative review, but I have never been so appalled with a company. Do not book college hunks.

They sped through packing up everything in RI and I was surprised when I heard from my friend that they were already en route to my home in MA. When I returned home that evening (my husband was home during the move), the first thing I saw were 3 large pieces of an armoire placed on top of my trash barrels outside with part of the facade laid on top. The remaining parts of the armoire were broken in multiple pieces. One shelf was missing. A painted bureau that had been in perfect condition prior was found to have a broken base that later completely collapsed. Three of the legs were split with missing shards. Another bureau had black streaks on the front. Finally, they were also unable to move an armoire out of a room, a piece was successfully moved into that same room years ago and that I was to deliver to a friend. This was absolutely the worst job I have ever seen. They do not even deserve one star. I provided detailed photo's of the broken parts to the company, but they made up their own version of the events and did not agree to a complete refund ($1280 with tip). They offered us $100 initially and then $300 when we protested. I now have to pay for the repairs and am not sure I will see any of the money. To add insult to injury I am missing a pair of gold earings that had been left in my room and suspect they may have taken them. My parent's independent living facility required that I select a mover on their "trusted" list. My brother had used Lawton movers the week prior based on the price they offered him and their seeming nice to deal with on the phone. Had they been careful and gone more slowly, they certainly would have made more money. In the end it would have paid off for me.

He basically said there was no way this was not communicated to me, and I was lying. Since I was standing in line at the store, this was especially stressful and aggravating having to play he said/she said and argue in circles. I was shocked. Long story short, it was the end of the day, and this was a stressful move. He would not budge at all, and only agreed to charge for seven hours begrudgingly. This was basically extortion. We have 3 large men at your home with your girlfriend, and they are not going to leave unless you pay us double. I felt helpless. He was extremely rude, unprofessional, and argumentative the entire time. I would not recommend this company to anyone and certainly will not use them for yet another upcoming move. No answer, but right after hanging up I received a text from that number. Here's how that conversation went: People's Moving: Hi, I missed a call from this number? Me: Hi! I had spoken to someone on this number from people's movers before? People's Moving: Yes how can I help you? People's Moving: I'm sorry I'm driving Me: No worries! I'm meant to have a uhaul ubox delivery and unload this morning and just wanted to confirm Me (twenty minutes later): They were meant to be here 15 minutes ago & the uhaul storage facility says the box hasn't been picked up. Me (twenty more minutes later): Hello? Those last two text messages weren't delivered. I also tried calling, and after one ring my call went to voicemail. In other words, they blocked my phone number. Movinghelp.com and Uhaul also tried to contact them on my behalf, to no avail. So 4 hours after they were scheduled to arrive, I'm trying to find a moving company available for same day service. This company is run by complete incompetence, if it is run at all. Save your money, time, and stress levels, hire someone else from the start.
