They gave my dog the wrong medicine. When he got sick, and I realized what had happened and complained, i got a cold email from a manager that it was totally okay because this medicine only makes my breed of dog die sometimes two stars instead one because he, ya know, didn't actually die. I went to them for a long time. I don't know if this was a random innocnent mistake, but either way, they actively didn't take responsibility or offer follkow up care. This past year my aging group of pets have had some health issues that have me at my vet more than usual. Dr Davies and Dr Curran have both worked with me with compassion and understanding. Dr Davies had faith in my kitty with a swollen bump on his nose. She sent me to a specialist to get a second opinion. I left there in tears as she guessed it was a tumor and he had only months to live. Dr Davies had an experienced, gut feeling and had me try support options. The swelling went away and my happy, healthy 13 year old beloved kitty is vibrant and just fine now. I really admire Dr Davies' educated, determined approach. It's not some magical thing she did( although my heart thinks that) it was her articulate, knowledgeable ideas to pursue all possibilities. Dr Curran is gentle and kind. My 14 year old dog has a tumor and I just couldn't face the cost to have oncology and surgery costs. So she kindly has us set up with support for this good dog. But on a return visit something she said to me about this gracefully aging dog has spurred me to seek out more help and probably the surgery. The sympathy and understanding these vets have is tremendous. Dr Curran is thorough and garners trust of my pet's as well as me. She has my full confidence and admiration. Our previous dog had a significant health/immune issue early in life which led us to spend a lot of time at various veterinary offices, specialists, and holistic care. The holistic care she received was phenomenal, we learned a lot and from then on we found a lot of value in blending traditional/holistic methods for our dogs as well as for ourselves. Fast forward several years and we have a new puppy. With a great appreciation for health and wanting to provide the best care possible for our new family member we wanted to start her out with holistic/blended care right away. We found Two Rivers online. This practice seemed to have a lot of good reviews and recommendations. We had a few red flags before booking and I should have listened to them. The hefty, nearly $200. non-refundable exam fee paid up front, and the fact that they do not have much in the way of diagnostic tools on hand such as being able to do any lab work or x-rays. We went forward and booked our appointment. The experience was lackluster and I am still puzzled why this is considered a holistic office. It struck me as a traditional office through and through and the past holistic veterinary experiences were vastly different. The flea/heartworm/tick and vaccine recommendations are the same as at a traditional vet. One of the foods that was recommended for our dog was not organic, basic, contained added vitamins not from food sources, and was heavy in white rice which is highly glycemic and inflammatory. They had pamphlets ready to go which was off putting. Some of the chews being recommended contained antibacterials. Since these are being swallowed/consumed this poses a threat to the micro biome in the mouth and throughout the digestive system. On the whole we are disappointed and had different expectations based on our current knowledge and experience with holistic care. read more

We have been coming to Two Rivers for close to 3 years. We have brought 3 animals to see Dr. Karen Davies and we wouldn't go anywhere else. We are so lucky to have them in the neighborhood. The clinic is a very calm environment. When you walk in most likely you will be greeted by Libby who is at the front she's super genuine and helpful. The front waiting area is nice, animal friendly seating with magazines and the usual waiting room stuff. Dr. Davies takes her time to explain all of the options available to you and allows space for the humans to make the best decision for their family without judgement or any pushing of products or treatments. What a special place in a special city. We've struggled so long to find a vet that presented the perfect mix of modern science and naturopathic medecine. We don't subscribe 100% to either but believe that for our sensitive pup, the balance of both is ideal. That's how we take care of our own human bodies and we believe our dog, who is our child, deserves no less. If you believe the same, check this place out. The vets wonderful, the service is very personal. They take their time, you get a one hour interview your first time. No cold vet beds, they sit with your pup on the floor and always provide treats. It really helps if your pup is nervous like ours. There is so much misinformation out there about dog nutrition, vaccines, temperament. I like that they consider natural cures where possible and will take the time to walk through everything and Offer you options and not overdue the cure for a sick pup. I really love Two Rivers. A friend recommended them after a bout of IBD floored my new puppy. I took her to Two Rivers and met with Dr. Davies. She literally spent an hour with my dog, interacting with her, checking vitals, listening to her heart and lungs. She asked many, many questions about her symptoms, some of which I had wished I had written down for specifics. Coming out of this initial consultation, she created a plan to go forward, which is exactly what I wanted. On a recent checkup, Dr. Davies really took the time to listen to her progress and then make thoughtful recommendations. I cannot recommend Two Rivers highly enough. Since I'd already been to one vet several times and my poor cat continued to suffer from digestive issues, I knew I had to shift gears and take her elsewhere - before ultimately returning to see our vet in L.A. So, I went to Two Rivers and Dr. Davies ended up being exactly what my cat needed at that moment because she had the sense to direct me to the hospital for an ultrasound - having noticed my cat's weight loss and poor appetite. She is clearly an integrative specialist, who is able to fuse both homeopathic and Western medicine. While my cat has only been to see her once (as her primary treatment is from our vet in L.A.), Dr. Davies was able to assess the situation at a critical time and for that I am grateful. Took my cat for a wellness exam here recently. While everyone in the clinic was nice enough, I was pretty astounded when it came time to pay the bill. The exam itself cost $150 (to be fair, they were upfront about that on the phone). During the exam, the doctor recommended a blood/urine panel and some acupuncture to address "sensitivity" she noticed on one of my cat's legs (I hadn't noticed anything abnormal, but okay). We talked about some general behavioral stuff & she recommended a few supplements/homeopathic treatments to try at home. She said she'd send me home with a few things to try. We also discussed dental options. My cat's teeth don't have any glaring problems, but he's never had a cleaning so I thought I'd ask what the vet suggests for general health. She suggested a cleaning, which she said "could" unveil other issues (teeth that need removal, gingivitis, etc.) that may require further action, x-rays, extraction, etc. She offered me some info to take home. Here's the itemized bill I was greeted with at the checkout: Initial Exam/Consult - $150 Blood/Urine Panel - $148.75 Initial Acupuncture Treatment - $0.00 (included in first visit, thankfully) Flower Essence (a homeopathic liquid to help with anxiety) - $18.00 Cosquin Feline Sprinkle Caps Trial (5 day supply) - $3.25 Cosquin Feline Sprinkle Caps (80 caps) - $25.00 Urine Collection Kit - $5.00 Total cost for first "wellness" visit - $350.00 So here's my beef with the bill: 1) The vet suggested that, rather than opening the full bottle of Cosquin, they'd give me a trial supply so that I could first see whether my cat will ingest it without problem. They said I could bring the regular-sized bottle back if the trial didn't work out & I wasn't able to use the full-sized version. While I was pleased that they offered a "trial' dosage for me to start with, I was shocked when I got home and saw that they'd actually charged me $3.25 for the "trial." I guess I assumed (wrongly) that they'd give it to me at no cost. 2) That $25 bottle of Cosquin? Turns out it's WAY overpriced. I did a quick search for the product when I got home and found that the list (manufacturer) price for the same exact bottle is $17.99. Amazon has it for $12.50. Why jack up the prices? 3) Urine Collection Kit. Seriously? They were unable to get a sample from my cat during the visit, so offered during the exam to send me home with a "urine collection kit." I was completely surprised when I got home and found that they'd charged me extra for the kit (it consisted of a plastic bag, a 1/2 cup of silicone pellets for the litter box, a plastic eyedropper, and a specimen vial). Why charge extra for something that a) you couldn't accomplish during the visit and b) you're asking me to do myself? I did get estimates for other care costs, which I also think are pretty over-the-top expensive: Acupuncture treatments - $60 per visit Dental Cleaning (if no underlying problems are found) - $275 - $600 Cleaning with x-rays & extractions - $600 - $1200 No idea why there's such a broad range for a basic, problem-free dental cleaning. Either way, a cursory search on-line indicates that comparable procedures cost about 25 to 60 percent less at most other vets. I know that this is a naturopathic vet's office, and that they do things holistically and whatever. Personally, I use a naturopath as my primary care doctor. Even those visits are cheaper than what it costs to take my cat to Two Rivers (and my personal care isn't covered by insurance). While I might go for a follow up acupuncture appointment, I'm pretty sure I'll be moving back to a traditional vet after that. The various add-ons to my bill made a basic wellness visit way too expensive. On a whole, I'm not convinced that the additional costs at Two Rivers is justifiable, especially when I see that they're overcharging me for things I can get cheaper nearly anywhere else. read more

I could spend a very long time talking about all of the reasons that I recommend every person on this team. We recently lost our dog, but he was a patient for 5 years and I know that their care is part of what kept Morson healthy to the end of his life. Morson had a history of seizures and we were working on holistic treatments when we were referred to the team here and I'm so grateful for that recommendation! I've been taking my geriatric chihuahua to this vet for about 6 months now. I switched to this clinic because I wanted to see if a mixture of eastern and western medicine could better treat her frequent seizures. In just 6 months, Dr. Strom has made a huge impact on the comfort of my little one. Wow. Best vet we've ever been to. Dr. Davies was so thorough and caring for our Aussie and his now-known knee issue. She gave us a comprehensive treatment plan and thoroughly explained everything we had questions about. She even showed me (an acupuncture student) some acu points to apply pressure on to help with my dog's knee and made sure I could palpate them according to other anatomical structures. Once she knew we just moved to Oregon, she then patiently explained all the different nuances we should be aware of living in the PNW! I had taken my first dog to Dr. Jordan Nuccio when she worked at another clinic in town. She was incredibly helpful, thorough, kind-hearted and knowledgeable as we worked through a fairly serious condition. She was attentive to our dog's needs and made wise decisions. Her treatment included an appropriate blend of western medicine and complimentary care. I recently found Dr. Nuccio again at Two Rivers Veterinary Clinic. I was truly delighted! The clinic is beautifully designed, the staff is incredibly helpful (especially Libby) and the care is just as good if not better than before. I left the office feeling very well cared for. Dr. Nuccio is incredibly personable and has perfected her listening skills. She is careful to take the time to listen to every detail regarding the dogs condition and behavior. In addition, she is skilled at clinical assessment and provides a thorough explanation of her findings. I left with a clear and appropriate care plan which addressed all of my concerns. I saw two vets there. They were kind. Mostly on time. The doctors were knowledgeable. I felt like their treatment was too cautious given the dire situation. And when I had a bad experience at the hospital they recommended, they defended the hospital rather than really listening to my critique. In the end, they were too eager to recommend euthanasia and seemed too concerned about not hurting my pet with medicine when my pet was very likely to die anyway. This is an all to familiar approach I've seen with doctors for humans when they want to avoid liability more than help. In the end, I am glad I went there, and I am glad I chose another vet when it didn't feel right. My pet is doing great for now and we are so happy to have them with us for now. read more

I have been here twice and I ignored my better judgment each time. This place tries to hide behind a holistic approach but the truth is neither dr is well versed in a true holistic approach meaning they are not wiling to go the extra distance to help your pet or uncover any hard to diagnose ailments. I brought my cat in with breathing issues and an abnormal mild twitch and she * nancy curran refuses to listen to me or address any underlying issues , gives a bs regular vet *looks ok to me diagnoses. * in the meantime the other holstic vets i went to take my concerns very seriously nancy just brushes you off. I think she is the least thorough worst vet i have ever been to , she had a 4 week acupuncture training class and barely any holistic experience. this place is all about selling you on the more expensive blood panels , prepping for dental to cost 1000, and robbing you blind before you even walk in the place. The front dest lady was trying to sell me on more expensive bloodwork before i even sat down! I cannot say enough about this veterinary clinic. Since I seem to average four pets and these pets have often experienced difficult and unhealthy starts to their lives, I suppose we need to seek out medical services more often than your average households of pets with high-functioning immune systems. If like me, you find yourself with a very loved but stress-prone pet, this is the clinic that deserves your loyalty. Fearful pets will find gentle and patient care at Two Rivers. Based on what I've seen with my pets, solace and the greatest chance at healing can be found here for shy and defensive animals. If your pet hates going to the vet and each visit seems to become a more difficult experience, try something new and patronize Two Rivers. Believe me, you will notice the difference, this place is special. The staff is incredibly friendly and always welcoming. My pets' needs are always catered to, and time and care is appropriately offered for each individual. When my dogs have an appointment, it's quite normal for me to bring a cat to accompany them... just for fun, and vice versa. The staff doesn't seem to mind, and the pets have grown so fond of the treats and people at Two Rivers, that they are able to relax and receive treatment calmly. One of my cats recently came down with a mystery illness right before the weekend (as seems to be typical). I spoke with Dr. Curran on the phone and she squeezed me in last minute for an appointment with Dr. Strom. I have seen Dr. Strom at least three times prior and really enjoy her gentle approach. Dr. Strom took wonderful care of my cat and offered everything under the sun to help him with his discomfort. It was too early to tell if something more serious was underfoot, but she offered excellent treatment including acupuncture, which I have only ever had for my dog. My cat relaxed into a happy state that I know comforted him and eased him through the weekend's difficult journey at Dove Lewis emergency hospital. When my cat was euthanized after receiving diagnosis of an untreatable Cancer, I was and continue to feel devastated. Dove Lewis did a remarkable job of caring for him in his final days, but it was the kindness of Two Rivers that really stuck with me (and trust me, they did not benefit from a fraction of the bill!). I've had many pets and vets in my life and never received the kindness that Two Rivers offered me. They reached out and expressed their sorrow generously and sincerely. I will always appreciate this. It reminded me of the time my sister's dog died at the hands of an irresponsible vet and Two Rivers was there to help pick up the pieces. I feel like I could write forever about how much I appreciate Two Rivers, but I will wrap this up for now by including how helpful Two Rivers staff are in general. You will always receive honest and upfront communication. You will be given alternatives and your concerns will be taken seriously. Two Rivers has helped me find homes for foster animals and even shared resources with me for students. This clinic is one-of-a-kind. read more

When the time came for our most beloved family member, Dr. Strom was phenomenal. She came to our house in Beaverton and was so kind and loving throughout the process. It's making me cry now just thinking about it. This is a very hard review to write. She let us hold our Ivy close while she gave her a nice relaxing 'cocktail drug' which immediately eased her labored breathing and all the pain she'd been in. We hadn't seen her so relaxed - the way she used to be all the time - in a very very long time and it was very relieving. Then she gently took a foot print for us using a clay circle that she brought with her - this came out perfect. Then Ivy was able to continue to lay on my chest with my partner right next to me, both of us softly hugging her and stroking her and telling her how very much we loved her, while Dr. Strom ever so gently administered the drug when we were "ready" and she passed away right there on my chest, knowing nothing but perfect love and gentleness throughout. Dr. Strom let us hold her and be with her every bit as long as we needed to, just like that. It was such a kind and loving thing that there are no words. Highest recommendation. I spent a LOT of time trying to locate a holistic veterinary clinic. Once I called around and spoke with a few other clinics, I didn't really feel like any were a good fit, until I spoke with Libby at Two Rivers Veterinary Clinic. When I called, all my questions were answered, and she asked good questions as well, and took the time to explain things to me. My initial appointment wasn't for a few weeks out, and a mysterious lump appeared on my dog, I called to ask for advice and the gal I spoke with spent probably a good 45 minuted with me on the phone about the lump and concerns. Appointment day came, and the clinic was clean and friendly. All the staff members I interacted with were superb. The vet that saw my dog was excellent, and didn't pressure me into anything and gave me her honest opinions. I had to be referred to a different veterinary clinic to have the lump further assessed with ultrasound, but everything was handled excellently. Providing me specimen slides from my visit to take, to helping me set up an appointment with the other vet clinic. I spent about two hours at Two Rivers and it was time well spent. Dr. Curran treats my 2 cats and dog. Twice Dr. Curran has figured out my dog's ailments when other vets did not. First she thought Missy had a heart problem after a heart vet said the symptoms did not indicate it. It turned out she had mitral valve problems and now is on effective heart meds. After an emergency clinic vet did not find anything when Missy was limp and unresponsive, Dr. Curran diagnosed pancreatitus from too many fatty treats and Missy is now doing well on a low-fat diet. On the lighter side, Dr. Curran and her staff treat my cat, Warren, like the most evolved being that he is. I really like Two Rivers out of all the vet clinics I've ever tried. Two Rivers staff and Dr. Nuccio are really great and very patient with my dog who is kind of a special case, special as in he is kind of sensitive and gets super nervous and bitey sometimes. They take their time with him and make him comfortable and don't stress him out. He went to a VCA one time and they felt the need to be rough with him and tranq him for everything. We are so lucky to have Dr. Curran taking care of our fuzzy baby (our 8 month old kitten). Our pet had been grinding her teeth as she closed her mouth after yawning. When our traditional vet told us surgery was the only answer Dr. Curran was able to offer us a non-surgical non-invasive option. I am forever grateful to Two Rivers for keeping our yellow lab so healthy and happy in her senior years. We said goodbye to her 2 weeks shy of her 17th(!) birthday, and the monthly TLC she received here (combo of chiro, acupuncture, cold laser) kept her mobile, and quite comfortable, until the end: she could get up on her own, use ramps unassisted, and enjoy walks up to her last day. The treatments + Chinese herbs also helped minimize accidents in the house (and those were only #2, she never lost control of her bladder). The doctors and staff are all incredibly competent, and compassionate. I highly recommend Two Rivers Vet Clinic. I have been taking my cat to Dr. Curran for over 10 years now and I followed her when she opened her own clinic, even though it is further away. But I wouldn't even think of taking my cat anywhere else. I think Dr. Curran is a wonderful Vet and I am always happy with her care and treatment. Especially since my cat older cat has needed some extra Vet attention. All of the staff is incredibly nice and helpful. Libby is always patient and supportive. And Kristin is always very calm with my cat. I also had the need to confer with Dr. Lawson and found her up to date regarding my cat's condition and then subsequently helpful regarding her care. I would trust any pet in their capable hands. read more

I took my kittens here to see Dr. Curran and was very pleased by how she really took the time to talk about wellness care and the pros and cons of how i wanted to raise my cats. I found her to be very knowledgeable and her calming demeanor put my cats at ease. Your cat could die within 3 months of a check up here! We brought our 8 year old cat here for 3 years, before moving to another state this past August. At the end of July, 2016 took him in for an exam right before moving and he was deemed in perfect health by the vet. After our move I was unable to get my cat into the local small town vet, who wasn't taking new patients, so I called and spoke with Libby about my cat's changed behavior and my worries about how different he was about going outside and his energy level and personality in general. She convinced me he was fine and that I shouldn't worry about taking him in to see a vet. 1 month later I noticed he was hiding and not doing well, so I rushed him to the vet and he was diagnosed with Lymphoma and we were told wouldn't make it through the night. My husband and I were devastated that we had to put him down. He was our beloved cat and companion. He was only 8 years old! Afterwards when I requested the vet records from two rivers I noticed that every phone call I had made to Two Rivers EXCEPT the phone call to Libby about his changed behavior 3-4 weeks prior to his death was recorded in the document. While this could have been a simple clerical error, I was extremely disappointed when they refused to apologize, or even acknowledge that I had called and discussed this with Libby. Additionally the staff refused to correct the error in the records. They also didn't respond to my email questions about how he could have been diagnosed and dead within 3 months of being told he was the "picture of health." They obviously did not do a through job examining him when I brought him in and they gave me very bad advice on the phone, and are now afraid to admit their mistakes. HORRIBLE! If you make a mistake you should at least have the decency to admit it and correct it. I'm so disheartened and disappointed with this clinic and ALL of their staff. I am not one to write bad reviews, but having just been through this horrible experience I think others should know and BEWARE before taking their animals to this clinic. read more

My beautiful black lab suffered for YEARS with ear and skin infections, so much so that I took her to a "doggy dermatologist" ($$$) where we were able to determine through a skin test that she was allergic to grass and dust - very hard to eliminate from our environment. Even still, the ($$$) dermatologist, like so many vets before, recommended antibiotics and steroids, very harsh drugs that only alleviated the symptoms and did not address the underlying condition. After years of searching for help, I finally came across Dr. Curran at the Hawthorne Vet Clinic and when she opened up her own business at Two Rivers, I was thrilled. For over 10 years, all of the vets I had talked to were only able to give me bandaid advice, but Dr. Curran was able to get at the root of my dog's condition - allergies and a weak immune system. With a change of diet, dietary supplements, and other holisitic care, my dog's health turned around 180 degrees within three months. Dr. Curran has a wonderful and easy manner and my dear doggy was alway happy to see her because of her kind and gentle and approach. When my doggie's life was coming to an end after 14 1/2 years, Dr. Curran was kind enough to come to our home to put her to sleep. While this was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make, I was so grateful for her guidance and help in getting us through this most painful experience. I have also had experience with Dr. Nuccio with my kitty cat and I would have to say that she is also a wonderful doctor and an wonderful person and I am so thankful that I have had these two highly professional and ethical doctors in my life. After many years and may visits to many veterinarians, I cannot recommend these two doctors highly enough. read more

A random recommendation from a clerk at a local Pet Food Store to find a Dr. Jordan Nuccio for help with my rescued cat's various health issues landed me at Two Rivers Veterinary Clinic and an amazing first appointment with Dr. Jordan Nuccio. Not only an expert in Western as well as Eastern Medicine, she is the most sensible, articulate and well balanced medical expert I have ever worked with. When she came into the exam room, she had memorized my cat's full history file from the other clinics, asked me a ton of questions and after listening intently, took me through the various options and concerns totaling almost 2 hours of appointment time. Never did i feel rushed. Her explanations between the two different medicines and applications soothed my very concerned mind as I was simply unaware of Eastern medicine and not willing to let my cat be my learning curve. She not only eased my mind, she stayed in constant touch with me through the courses of treatment, followed up with phone calls she made personally and further appointments as needed. The prognosis from my Western vet prior was cancer for my cat's irritated bladder and the only prescription from him was antibiotics, antibiotics and more antibiotics. Dr. Nuccio immediately terminated that treatment when she took over, added a special Chinese herb tincture and cast away any suggestions of cancer. Instead, she outlined a detailed maintenance program tailored to my rescue cat's specific needs. Furthermore, she really brought to light the difference and importance in only high quality food, filtered water and a no stress environment. After a year of monitoring the slow progress of my rescue cat with Dr. Nuccio, I am happy to announce that my cat has been medically free of treatment, healthy and happy for more than 3 years. A bonus is how much lower my vet bills were than if I had stuck to the single course of Western Medicine. I have since taken my other pets to Dr. Nuccio for more than 3 years now, all with various medical needs and all of them are doing so well, living up to their optimal health level. I only visit Dr. Nuccio annually for routine check-ups for all of them now and admit I miss working with her as she has changed my very scrutinized mind on medical care for profit. I now consider her a friend as her exceptional bedside manner is warm and caring, she is willing to teach and empower animal owners to be better caregivers, is excellent at articulating all of the medical jargon and such personal follow-up to each course of action she suggests makes her quite an unusual and exceptional Doctor. She is worth meeting, I hope you find as much success under her care as i have. I would give her 10 stars out of 5 if Yelp let me. read more
