In Chattanooga for a long weekend girls trip and ate at TwoTen Jack. It was my first time in Chattanooga and first time at this restaurant. Our friend got there early so she was able to secure a table. We started with the happy hour house white wine and ordered various shareable small plates. We ordered the jfk - Japanese fried chicken, not pictured below - edamame- because everyone knows what edamame looks like, crispy brussels, pork gyoza, yellowtail jalapeño sashimi. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the yellow sashimi. I could eat more of that! Our server was Kyler and he was fantastic. He made sure we were taken care of and at the end of the night, ordered the house sake, which Kyler highly recommended, I enjoyed the layout of the restaurant and the dark wood and bar area. It wasn't crowded on a Thursday night which I enjoyed having the restaurant to ourselves, at least it looked that way since we were in the back area across from the bar. Honestly, I wanted more from two ten jack!! It was decent, but the portions were minuscule for the price!! I tried: -crispy Brussels: 9/10 - delicious!!! Amazing flavor, very rich. Loved. -Wagyu stuffed shishitos: 4/10 - didn't taste like much of anything interesting, despite my love for Wagyu, and paying $8 for 4 tiny shishitos is a crime. -Crab noodles: 7/10 - good crab flavor, but very simple. -Tori paitan shoyu: 6/10 - it kind of just tasted like microwave ramen. I'm really torn here because I want to give it a 3.5. We made reservations and they are very clear that if you do not show up or do not cancel before the deadline, you'll be charged $25 per person. I appreciate that they made sure you knew before clicking on the reservation. I was seated shortly after checking in. They enclosed the patio providing more seating options. I have now sat both inside the dining and the patio and definitely prefer sitting inside the restaurant. I am going to choose that next time. Our server had us on the patio and also a table of 12 inside. After greeting us, we didn't see him for quite some time. I even asked someone to get him for us so we could order and even more time passed. Our server apologized for taking so long and let us know the situation. We were able to get apps and dinner ordered. Edamame- regular sea salt. They came out warm and were what you would expect. The wagyu dumplings are on the smaller side and not sure that I think they are worth $12. The asparagus bacon under the kushiyaki menu comes with three pieces and they were OK. I wouldn't order it again. For dinner, we ordered the tonkotsu ramen, garlic noodles, and ikinari steak! The standout for our entire meal was the ikinari steak that was $27 for 6 oz of a skirt steak and served with miso brown butter, corn, onions, and j sauce. I wish that it came out along with the garlic noodles. They noodles came out after and the pairing was very good. I used to think their garlic noodles were the best. They are still good but not magical like I remember. The tonkotsu ramen was OK. The ramen wasn't very chewy like I prefer. The broth and chashu was OK. Really fun Japanese fusion spot! We were celebrating a birthday for our visit. Some highlights were the delicious cocktails on tap, lots of tasty raw and cooked bites, and good service. The Takoyaki was a delicious bite. The very small pieces of octopus inside were overcooked, however. It took away from the texture. The miso butter was divine. The No. 3 cocktail with chai spiced rum was my favorite drink. You can eat on a budget here or splurge depending on what you order. I do wish the waiter had acknowledged our celebration in some way. A great spot! My partner and I stopped by here for a lunch date, and it has the perfect laid back atmosphere. It was a little slow when we walked in around 12, but it slowly picked up as we ate our meals. We ordered a couple of sapporos, and they were both the perfect pour. We split the fried chicken to start. It was good, but a little dry. The ranch and lemon it comes with are the perfect balance to the saltiness of the breading. I ordered the bento box, and it was a fantastic variety of several dishes. The crispy brussel sprouts were definitely a highlight. A solid choice overall, with a few truly cravable items and a very casual vibe, Two Ten Jack is a longstanding a Nashville institution I hope stays around for years to come. Tucked into the far right of the Eastland strip of restaurants and shops, Two Ten Jack has been around for well over a decade now. It's more izakaya / ramen mash-up but there's a little bit of something for everyone. Indoor or covered outdoor seating (with heaters, making their patio clutch for year round use and/or bringing your fur baby), this is great for casual and I almost always come as just a walk-in and sit at the bar or outside on the patio. Dedicated, spacious parking lot, that I don't have to pay to park in, sweet! I think the menu can be kind of hit or miss - it truly depends on what section you are ordering from; the ramen is very salty for me and the sushi doesn't taste fresh consistently, but the izakaya, mazeman, and appetizers are usually very, very good. My favorite dish here is the garlic mazeman, a crab-butter cooked broth less ramen, that tastes a bit like a Japanese twist on cacio e Pepe. It's delicious and umami and always hits the spot. I crave it!! I also love the chicken meatball, the avocado, the dumplings, and the popcorn chicken. The sake menu is also decent for the price point. Service can be a bit inconsistent here but I am generally able to have a quick meal here when I need to, and more than anything, it's one of the few reasonably priced options (easily can get a meal for under $30) for this kind of food left in Nashville. It's an even better deal if you can get in for happy hour (where drinks are all a dollar or two off and popular bites like edamame and the tuna crispy rice are $6 a piece.) Overall, I do really like this spot, and the garlic mazeman (or spicy crab mazeman if you want a bit more meat) is the reason I keep coming back here as a regular. One of the best dinners I've had in a minute! Everything we had was incredible, with bursts of flavor and the perfect amount of spice. The rock shrimp appetizer is a must. The spicy Japanese mustard on the side of the kurobuta sausage is like a mustard mixed with wasabi taste and it's just the right touch! Also, there is plenty to choose from on the menu. The flavorful vegetable broth was packed with perfectly cooked noodles, burnt corn (which added a unique bite to the flavor profile and rich collards. So basically it fit right in what we needed it for...some good drinks and small bites. However, the charge for a drink that I didn't consume was very disappointing. First, I ordered the punch out and for the second cocktail, I ordered the blue line lodge. Looking for great Asian fusion in Nashville and located Two Ten Jack. The reviews and food photos looked good. This place is an izakaya and ramen house for shared plates. The decor is simple and compliments the ambience well. We had no reservations and we were able to get seated at a high top. The menu is varied with small plates, ramen, noodles, sushi and skewers. Making a choice here was not easy as several dishes looked great and we only have so much room to pack the food away. After a long hard look, we finally made our selection. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was different and delicious. We have never experienced crispy rice before but will order again, soon. The Japanese fried chicken with negi dip was packed with flavor and was very moist but with a good outer crunch. I'm not sure but the meat was likely thigh meat due to the taste. The tempura rock shrimp was nicely cooked and accompanied with spicy honey and walnut sauce. The sauce element was faint and not sure I would order it again. Our final dish was the spicy crab noodles with black pepper, sweet red crab, noodles and crab butter. The flavor here was different and not our favorite of the night. The portions were generous and there are plenty of other selections that looked interesting. I liked Two Ten Jack and would gladly give them another try when we are back in Nashville. We hit up Two Ten Jack with our friend James who we visit in Nashville every few months. James had been one other time to Two Ten Jack and raved about it, so we were game for checking it out with him Below are my first impressions about the experience, which I've organized in to the categories of "Definitely Order," "Just Okay," and "Skip Altogether." Definitely Order - Get any of the Crispy Rice dishes (and get multiples if you're with a group). These are fantastic! Also yummy are the Shishito Peppers! Nom! Finally, you can't go wrong with any of the ramens! We especially liked the Abura Soba Ramen (Brothless Ramen) and Tori Paitan Shoyu Ramen. Just Okay - The Rock Shrimp were good but nothing to write home about. We felt the same way about the Spicy Crab Garlic Noodle dish. It was just okay and definitely overrated. Skip Altogether - Avoid the Toast Stuffed Wings; these are just okay, and you don't really taste the shrimp toast. Overall Impression: I really liked Two Ten Jack and definitely would return if I lived in Nashville. But since we only visit occasionally, I likely would check out other places before returning to the place because there are so many other good options in the city that I haven't tried yet. read more

We visited on Saturday, 10/18 for dinner with a party of 7. Our server, Skylar S. was phenomenal. My mom has some pretty severe food allergies AND is super sensitive to spice and Skylar made it so easy to substitute and explained everything really clearly to her so she had all of her questions and worries settled. We've been plenty of places where the servers were impatient and treated her like an inconvenience. Skylar's service was above and beyond and Mom felt so cared for. The food was amazing, my teenagers were in heaven with their ramen and sushi rolls. Ambiance was great, music loud enough to drown out other tables but not so loud we couldn't converse at the table.
