I wanted to like this burger so much but it was just so greasy. It wasn't the worst burger I've ever had but looking around this place I was not super confident in the cleanliness of the kitchen which I think affected my impressions of the food. We had burgers, onion rings and tater tots. The burgers were good; but the onion rings and tots were fried in rancid oil. Which will probably cause stomach issues later tonight, ugh. Not looking forward to this evening. They need to keep a calendar of when to replace rancid oil and know that anything rancid can cause a horrible after taste and illnesses. Absolutely the most foul food ever! My dear husband has a thing about stopping at mom and pop places so we came to this chain on our way to college station. Gross! Spent so much money! We were all starving. I ordered a mushroom burger and they asked if I want tomatoe, lettuce and pickles. We said yes, but when I got in the car and took a bite, it was ketchup not tomatoe... nasty! The burger is also SUPER thin! All you taste is bread and condiments. The ranch looked gross and had bubbles so I didn't even try it. Onion rings were okay. I threw the rest of my nasty burger with the dry, crusty bun in the trash. My son had chicken fingers and the gravy was like jelly. My husband was grossed out as well. We will never stop here or at any other TX burger again. I should have starved for one more hour until I got to town. read more

The hamburger meat was very very bland it didn't have any taste to it like it should...we had to at least add salt & pepper to it... on top of that the meat was very dry it must of been cooked that morning or something... we asked for cheese there was no cheese on it...we called and the person that answered the phone said "oh we are sorry" and hung up... the service was slow and we were the only one in line... so doubt very seriously we will be back... read more

TX Burger.... Well, it was ok. It's not Whataburger but it was "OK". The restaurant is combined with Subway of which was a ghost town. I swear I saw a tumble weed roll over the meatballs lol. Anyway, I got a burger with sweet potato fries and a Dr. Pepper. I also got the chicken finger basket. It was mediocre at best "burger", but the chicken fingers were better. It came with toast, not Texas toast, and gravy. The diner was clean and the cashiers were kinda helpful. Would I eat here again? Probably not. read more

I was travelling from Tyler to Austin and around lunch, it was time for me to pull over somewhere and grab a bit of food. Fortunately for me Texas Burger with their big sign was right there in Rockdale for me to stop at and grab something. Walking in, I saw the dual purpose of the restaurant. Really, I think this is a good thing to do, and I wish that more fast-food places would start doing it... they have a better chance of making it in today's dog-eat-dog world of commerce. However, I have been to many Subway's in the past, and when I am travelling I like to try something new, so TX Burger was the place for me. Walking up to the counter, I was greeted warmly. I made my order, a double cheeseburger with fries, got my number, and had a seat. My order was brought around when it was ready, and at that point it was time to chow down. Now, I have had my share of burgers, and there is something about burgers that come from places that are not chains that makes them special... and this was a special burger. All of the toppings were crisp and tasty, the patty was perfectly done and tasted great, and the bun did not fall apart in my hands like some do. This was just a good burger that fulfilled my need for food. The fries were tasty too. I finished my lunch, waved so long to the staff, and headed on my way. If I were to be passing through Rockdale again around lunchtime, I would certainly go back to TX Burger! read more

Burger was great, service was busy at first like with their personal stuff not work. I feel they should have great us first instead we waited for them to finish with themselves. Ambiance was very messy & table were not cleaned soda fountain area was duty & sticky, I even tried cleaning it plus Was kinda disgusting. Wow! This is my 99th Yelp review! I can hardly believe it; seems like only yesterday I was posting number 98 (well it almost was, I guess). But it doesn't seem all that long ago I was posting my first review (Philly Frank's in San Marcos CA). But Yelp, I have a question: since my "About Me" page sez I started Yelping in December 2011, how could I possibly have posted a review on NOVEMBER 4, 2011? And I DID, according to your own records; riddle me THAT, Yelp! NO WONDER I didn't get "re-Elited" for 2014; I probably DID, but you got it backwards, Yelp, as sloppy as your record-keeping seems to be. That would mean all you "Elites" out there, really AREN'T. You just THINK you are. ;-) So there. But I digress; sorry. I'm gonna do something I've never done before, which is to "add a star", but I have a good reason for doing this (contained in my story): I was making a road trip, to visit a friend in Jacksonville (TX, not FL), which had me passing through Rockdale. I won't say I "never" eat at a "chain" eatery when out-of-town, but I try not to; I can eat at one of those anywhere. No pun intended (well, not much), but what better way to get some "local flavor" than to get some LOCAL FLAVORS? OK, this place does share the same floorspace with a Subway franchise, but we'll pretend "it" is not there (looking the other way now...). OK, I'll agree with Blake, one of only TWO other reviewers (& apparently, the only one who LIVES here, but sounds like a "one-timer"). They weren't busy, and it wasn't all that fast. But in my case, I'd been driving for awhile, and appreciated the respite. Hey, if ya want "fast food" go to the "big city"; we're in fuckin' ROCKDALE, for God's sake. But ONE star? C'mon, Blake; if we were judging by speed ALONE, maybe. But let's analyze the burger: I ordered the 1/3 lb Swiss Mushroom Burger, added bacon, and opted for Onion Rings instead of fries. I'll concur with the other reviewer (Rodney); this place ain't inexpensive. I've paid not much more at some of the Burger "Boutiques" in Austin, but let's talk TASTE: It was a very tasty burger! The Onion Rings were crispy, not flimsy or greasy, and fried to perfection. NOT a one-star burger, Blake. I'll let my pictures do the rest of the talking. So, why would I break tradition, and give this place a higher rating than I otherwise would? I think Rodney's "three-star" rating is fair, and what I'd NORMALLY give, base on service AND quality of food. On the other hand, Blake's ONE-star rating is totally unfair. I actually hope he doesn't go back, cuz in a town the size of Rockdale, they're gonna KNOW which "Blake" it is ('course, you posted your picture too); this is how you get SNOT in your burger, Blake. Yeah, don't go back; not NOW! "Worst service on the PLANET"? Blake, please come to the Solar System called Austin and gimme a holler; we'll spend an entire WEEK exploring places with worse service. Ya can't swing a dead cat here without hittin' one! So my "normal" three-star rating's gonna go to FOUR STARS, cuz as one of only three reviews, it'll help to "bump up" Texas Burger's overall "average", and I think they DESEERVE that. Oh, and the Manager, not even knowing I'm a Yelper, took the time to chase my out the door to ask me how everything was. In other words, she showed me she CARED. If you're just passing through Rockdale, please visit Texas Burger; I'm sure the same person owns the Subway too, but "vote" with your $$'s for the LOCAL side of the storefront. And if you happen to LIVE in Rockdale, please support your LOCAL economy; it's important. Even in a city the size of Austin, it MATTERS; in a small town like Rockdale, it could be CRUCIAL to their survival and success. After all, they are your neighbors. So, there's my 99th review. Grabbed some food on the way home from College Station and was happy to see the parking lot full. Since it shares a building with Subway there were a good amount of people on both sides and the drive thru was busy. My son had a bacon burger and I had the chicken strips, both of which were good for fast food (have had better/have had worse). The service was great and the employees were nice, they sparked up a friendly conversation, and smiled a lot. What prompted me to write this review was the TX Toast! I am considering driving back from Austin just to get more of that toast! My son got so tired of me talking about it that he agreed to take a bite, even though he didn't want to. I've heard a lot of poor things about this chain but on my recent trip to Nocturnal Wonderland in Rockdale, TX, I found myself with very few dining options. Needing a good burger to set a base for the evening we opted for this establishment, which came in its usual Texas Burger/Subway combo. The place was filled with ravers from every corner of the United States, heck the biggest electronic music festival in Texas was being held right down the street! Despite the fact the place was uncommonly busy, we still managed to place our orders and receive our food in fairly short order. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't a wallet buster either, look to spend about what you would at a What-a-Burger or other similar restaurant. The food was decent. It reminded me more of a home cooked burger and fry than that of a fast food restaurant (+1 awarded.) The fries were also pretty good. They were the frozen then fried variety (which usually isn't my style) but these were done well, and they even had a hint of seasoning to them. My only complaint, not enough of them! One plus to this place is that they carry Blue Bell ice cream, if you haven't had the stuff, definitely go get some! It's one of the better products to come out of Texas. I tried some of my friend's milkshake and I thought it was pretty decent! Overall, I thought this was a good place and they offered a filling meal for a decent price. The staff was friendly and courteous, I liked that they deliver your meal to you as well. Check it out if you're ever in Rockdale and need to grab a quick bite, it won't disappoint you! read more

The service is a little slow here, but it's a small staff who seem to split duties between this and the Subway that is also in the same building. The food is good -- as far as fast food goes -- and everyone is friendly. Good milk shakes, Blue Bell Ice Cream and delicious, crispy seasoned fries. I'm done with the Cameron Texas burger. Why have a drive thru when no one answers it??? Then you can drive up and sit there staring in the window for 20 minutes. Wait for fresh food- no problem. Stopped in here for a quick bite. Food was decent. Nothing to brag about. Several teenagers work there..or let's say they stand around there. Place could be cleaner. Changed my mind from fries to tator tots and it about blew the girls mind that took our order. Thank goodness the cook was like ok what goes with what meal. So my husband and I decided to try this place out since we are both from Odessa TX and Texas burger is a hit there. Well we get our food and my husbands burger has mayonnaise which he didn't order he ordered mustard, the lady making the burgers was like he said cut the vegetables and mustard. No we said cut the vegetables not the mustard. I guess they do not listen to their customers either because I requested Onion rings and they gave me French fries so once again I had to wait on the onion rings and no apology.. I will give this place another try but if they mess up again I'll just resort to another burger joint. I'd never been to TX Burger before. My family and I were on a road trip and we decided to eat here because of the easy drive-thru. When we pulled up, no one responded. Finally, when someone did respond, we asked a few questions about items on their menu but whomever answered sounded highly inconvenienced. Suddenly, someone else got on the mic and asked us to pull forward to the window before we even ordered. When we pulled up, the girl was like, "Can I help you?" We explained that we hadn't ordered yet and we needed to look at a menu. She told us "Well I don't have one." When we asked why she wanted us to pull up to the window, she said she thought we ordered. Had we not been so hungry and had 2 kids sleeping in the car, we would have gone somewhere else. We waited at least 10 minutes for our food to come. Meanwhile, there were people (employees maybe?) walking in and out of the back door of the restaurant who were arguing loudly and swearing. We were ready to get the heck out of there. Luckily, the food was great. But I won't be back at this location. read more

WORST service on the planet! There is NOTHING fast about the fast food here! I have NEVER had one single order come out right or in a timely fashion and forget about going through the drive through! The burgers and fries here are ALWAYS delicious, especially considering that the options in this town for a quick burger are extremely limited. However...I choose not to even go here because of the service I receive, each time. #1-The speaker for ordering is complete trash. I have to yell, and even then, the employees cannot hear me. The employees act annoyed with me, as if it's my fault. So, like everyone else, I end up having to order at the window, which adds to the ridiculous wait time. Then, my burgers are never done the way I order them. NEVER. Ian not sure if it's the fault of the person taking the order, or the person preparing the order. Inevitably, I am told to go around to the other side of the building, to wait for my food because their speaker is busted, or to go get back in line to get my food from the window. Twice, I've been told to sit in the parking lot to wait for my food, and nonody brought it to me. I had to go inside to get it, and by then, my food was cold and drinks were watered down. I wasn't even offered fresh french fries or fresh drinks. And the employees acted annoyed with me for asking for the food I had paid for and they had failed to give me. Went into Rockdale to see what the offerings were and hit the drive thru. A sad state...it took over 20 minutes to get our food. No apologies from the staff nor an explanation. They didn't think to ask us to pull around to take care of the two orders waiting behind us (as both of those orders were ready before ours!). The burger wasn't much to speak of - zero flavor/seasoning. Next time, we'll try the sit down place across the street - at least there I would expect a 20 minute wait for food. If I hadn't already paid (and thought it wouldn't be a serious pain in the backside to get a refund - I would have skipped it and gone to McDonald's). The prices seem pretty high too with nearly $9 for a combo. read more

Once again, this is the worst restaurant in Rockdale, Texas. My husband talked me into giving it another try. We went through the drive thru and instantly heard that managers lady voice. It was like talking to a new hire in. She is so incompetent it's sort of disgusting. We placed our order and drove to the window and received our drinks and paid. Twenty (20) minutes later, seriously, 20 minutes, no food nor did anyone recognize our presence . My husband finally tapped on the window and said, "did you forget about us"? Finally we pulled around, my husband went in and they had a bag of food ready. It was missing an order of fries and the cookie that came from my daughters Tex meal. So he went back in and asked for the missing food, trying to hold off his urge to throw the bag of food against the wall. And like always that useless manager woman was walking around like she just had a dose of Vicodin pumped into her veins. Useless and disgusting. Once we got home and began eating our food, our fries were cold, it was as though they dumped an enormous amount of salt on our burgers, (completely inedible) and my daughters burger was the size of a sausage patty, burnt, along with a burnt hard bun. Totally disgusting. My thoughts are if they are incompetent of providing good service, how well are they cleaning the place at night? AVOID at all cost and give a local business that cares your money. This establishment by far is the worst of the worst in Rockdale, Texas. And again I ask the question, why is that slug of a woman a manager? Can you imagine how dirty the place is? I absolutely love Texas Burger especially on Tuesday nights they have half price maverick burgers. Thr fries are really good and burgers are actually homemade. Very good place to eat on a Sunday, when everything is closed on a long drive back home. My two year old and I ordered burgers and fries. We waited maybe 10 minutes, but the quality of the food was not "fast food quality." My son (picky eater) ate most of his burger and all of his fries, which is really a testament of deliciousness! There were only a few people working but the young woman that worked both the Subway and TX Burger counters was especially kind.
