My fiancé wore a T-shirt into the barbershop today that I got from a Texas bbq joint in Driftwood, Texas. A male barber named Jeff, who worked in the shop got offended somehow from the shirt he had on, it was a shirt that came from a famous Texas bbq restaurant called "The salt lick BBQ" and the shirt said "Praise the Lard", along with the name of the restaurant. Not sure if he was an animal rights person or just took the meaning of the shirt the wrong way but rather than simply ask about the shirt to clarify its meaning, he decided to speak to his client and said "how would they like it if I wore a shirt saying something about fags". He was saying this to his client loudly so the whole barber shop could hear at an attempt to humiliate and spread hate. He also mentioned something about "They want acceptance, but wear stuff like this". He kept saying the shirt was offensive, but wouldn't say how. My fiancé has worn this shirt several times when we went out in Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas. NOONE has ever found a problem with it or became offended by it. My fiancé loves a good pork chop, so he thought it was a funny play on words and was meant for pork lovers, which we know is not everyone's cup of tea. Well let me tell you, my fiance and I are part of the lgbt community, so what the barber was saying was very offensive. We are customers at this establishment, and he is working there, I hope the owner reads this and finds out what happened on 9/3/2024 and take some action to correct this persons unprofessional behavior. We have been regular customers and are now considering to switch to another place. My fiancé and I would like to warn you ahead of time if you wear a shirt to the barbershop you consider playful or funny, just know Jeff might get offended by it, and proceed to trash talk about you to his client in front you, loud enough for you to hear, including everyone else in the barbershop. Called around 11:20am, would be able to get in by noon. We arrived by 11:48am. They are busy and it's mostly by appointment only for the hair dressers or barbers in the shop. It's busy with appointments and walk-ins, like us. We did call ahead but they didn't exactly take down our names for the noon appointment at all. Cedric cut my hubby's hair, shaved his face and neck too. He's been cutting for over 3 years. All men's cuts include a hot towel and neck shave. We added the face shave too. All done by 12:23pm. Done in 26 minutes, that's fast. There was a girl getting her hair tinted and another more mature woman getting her hair curled up for the day. Staff are nice, quick and efficient. I never give our one star reviews on a rule unless the service was real special and boy, was this one special! I booked an appointment for my husband for our upcoming wedding celebration (so we were time sensitive here) and I was able to talk to someone on the phone to book the appointment. As often wedding preparations are, we got busy and I tried to call the day before to ask when our appointment was. We were told they don't maintain records and wouldn't be able to tell when the appointment was. I was asked for a confirmation code which I did not have because I made the appointment over the phone and not on the website. The woman I talked to asked around casually if anyone had anything booked for the next day and then said "can't help you". I wish we had been able to get an appointment here or talked to someone competent since there are some really good reviews here. Well, whatever. I'm sure there are plenty of great barbers around. Excellent experience, whenever you move somewhere new it's imperative that one finds a barber, a mechanic, and a butcher. After my first haircut with Angeline, all I have left to find is a butcher. Very clean, good looking environment with a nice looking pool table in the waiting area. Angeline is one of the first barbers who asks if you want clippers or scissors? Scissors, of course. One of the best haircuts I've gotten, hands down. And I've had short hair for many, many years. Horrible! My son and I needed cuts at 2pm on 3/16/19 signed in and sat down. After about 10 minutes one of the barbers that was not cutting hair but sweeping came to me and said they are done for the day. They are only doing appointments only! Absolutely loved this place! My dad and I went in for haircuts for the first time and let me tell you: the female barbers kicked ass! I had the side of my head shaved by Randi - who was SO attentive and diligent in her work. She was constantly making sure I was happy with how the cut was coming along and had the best suggestions. The lady I talked to on the phone needs customer service training ASAP! She set me up an appointment and was about to hang up on me but I was able to catch her attention to ask if I needed to stay in my car and they'll call me when they are ready or if they're letting in people to wait. Her response was, "yeah sure whatever" and seemed to be in a hurry. When I arrived, I called again to double verify if I should walk in or wait, the same lady who made my appointment said come in 10 mins before your scheduled time. I did exactly that except they have the doors locked. I waited for a little before someone came out to greet me with a waiver and was told to wait a COUPLE MINUTES for them to check my temp. I sat for an extra 25 mins and no one ever came out. I had walked around near the entrance making eye contact with a couple of the employees but no one cared to update me. On top of that, someone who showed up @3:05 was scheduled for a 3pm appointment as well, went in before me (and wasn't stopped to sign any paperwork). I feel that the service was unprofessional and rude. It would've been nice if someone would've come out and gave me even just a little hope of "wait at least 5-10 more mins" and offered a water or something because it was f'n HOT waiting outside. I feel like a FOOL for doing exactly as they said when they couldn't keep their word to me. I was willing to pay and tip really good, too! read more
