This place deserves zero stars. I waited for over an hour for service when I called for appointment. The lady (Suzan) proceeds to tell me "next time we give you half off" specifically for waiting so long. I thought to myself, "Okay, I appreciate them willing to right this wrong especially because I have been going to this salon for months now." I show up for my next appointment, put the note and reminder of what she said about half off in my booking appointment, reminded the receptionist and everything - and I get to paying and they deny deny deny. It was absolutely unbelievable. I clearly should have gotten something in writing when she told me to my face "next time half off" and that is surely a learning lesson for me and anyone reading this :) I have been getting my nails done for over 10 years and work in hospitality and seeing SUCH poor hospitality is genuinely disappointing. I've never been so disgusted with a nail salon. They were actually so rude about this situation. read more

I will never-- be back here again. I waited exactly 2 hours and a half hours past my appointment time. Someone came in just as I was about to be seen by the gentleman I had an APPOINTMENT with. He (won't be pointing fingers) works at 2 different salons and he took the lady that was a walk in because she was a long time old customer and said, he'll work her in. "Work her in" meant I the customer which actually HAD an appointment with him had to wait. Asked for pastel clouds and I left a little disappointed. The nail tech was sooo nice and sweet but I am just not happy with the outcome of my nails. What I was not happy with: There was hardened acrylic powder on the underside of my nails that should have been filed off. The art on my left hand had no semblance to clouds. The gem on my thumb fell off within 2 hours of leaving the salon. The gems on my right thumb were crooked. Nail glue was in places it was not supposed to be and caused a bunch of bumpiness on my nails. -I know it's partially on me for not saying anything but I think it's also important to realize when something looks amiss. Nice start but the quality isn't there. Tried it twice with dip powder and they just didn't turn out. They are lifting within a week.

So overall, I'm pretty satisfied because my nails look really cute. However, I do have some complaints about the nail art because the lines on my thumbs aren't smooth. The tip of one of my fingers also started chipping, and I just got the nails done today. See attached pictures. But like I said, I'm satisfied because the service was great. I suspect the art on my thumbs aren't great because the nail tech (Henry) was rushing towards the end. I was a walk-in, so maybe he had an appointment coming up. Here are my pros: - I was a walk-in, but they took me in within 10 minutes of my arrival - Staff was nice and friendly - The place was clean and spacious - They have a wide selection of colors - Henry did a great job reshaping my acrylics to make them more even Things to keep in mind: - There's a 5% discount if you pay with cash - They validate for parking - They only accept cash or Venmo for tips UPDATE: They reached out to me a a day after I posted my initial review, and they helped me fix my nails for free. Just moved to the Boro and this was my first experience at Tysons Nail Lounge. It was the best! They took temperatures upon arrival and made sure all clientele sanitize their hands before picking a polish. They also do contactless payment! Henry was so professional, kind, and personable! Dont bother making an appointment. First, they couldn't locate me in their system even after showing the confirmation text I receive. Then telling me that it would be another hour maybe to "fit" me in. Even paid for parking and lost out in $7. Receptionist was also very rude. Take your bus somewhere else. read more

It has been 10 month since I first went to Tyson's Nail Lounge, and now I am a regular and will ONLY go here for my dip powder manicure and pedicure needs. Henry is my man and always makes sure to get me in, even when he is tight on time. The entire staff is so kind and courteous. Always asking if you would like water, coffee, tea or even a glass of wine! Unlike many other nail salons, I LOVE the fact that no one is overly pushy. In salons past, I found techs always trying to up sell a service which made the experience less enjoyable. As far as ongoing COVID precautions , plexiglas is still set up between you and the nail tech for manicures and temperature checks are still enforced at check in. Parking is validated to a certain time limit. I used to be a constant nail tech/salon jumper, but Tyson's Nail Lounge stole my heart from day one and continue to produce stunning, long lasting nails and stellar service. read more

Three strikes and you're out. My first appointment was with Chucka for a pedicure and gel manicure- a very nice lady who gave a great pedicure but 4 of my gel nails started to lift after 4 days. I went back for them to be redone and the owner, Emily, told me rudely "not to pick them." I did not "pick" them, they were poorly done. My second appointment for a pedicure and gel manicure was with Claudia. She was nice enough, a bit arrogant, but put zero effort into the pedicure massage. I can rub lotion on my own legs. Gel manicure did last for 2 weeks though. If you only want a pedicure - Chucka is great. If you only want gel, my nails lasted longer with Claudia. So I tried a third time and my appointment was with Lily. A very nice girl and she did seem to care about her work. HOWEVER, as far as longevity goes - within 1 week all of the toenail polish completely chipped off in large pieces, very strange. Maybe my toenails had lotion on them when she painted them? My gel manicure was started by Lily - and then Emily pulled her away to start another customer (because they do NOT honor appointments.) Several of my nails were filed completely crooked. I pointed them out and Emily (the owner) gave me an attitude. This gel manicure also started chipping away after 1 week. Emily only cares about cramming as many people as she can into the salon. I will no longer go there as I will not pad her pocket anymore for poor service. read more

Lan drilled the skin off my fingers. She didn't notice after the first one started bleeding and now five of my fingers are. Aside from the bleeding fingers the gel polish had bubbles that I had to ask to be fixed several times. My friend got dip and it looked good just do not have Lan touching your fingers. read more

Pretty good! Kind technicians and they did a decently good job. There were kids 10-14 years old at the salon being very loud and rowdy and annoying, bickering and kinda hitting each other. The technician spoke to their mom to ask they quiet down per my request because that is truly not appropriate at a salon. Later the person from the front desk came over to the pedicure chairs and asked if we would pay before they even started painting our nails since he was closing the register, even though the closing time wasn't for 30-45 minutes still. I found it odd but when I told them I wasn't comfortable paying when I haven't received the service they were somewhat amicable. Overall fine experience. Pretty salon and great selection of colors. Probably wouldn't be my first choice but would return if in a pinch. read more

Don't know why I decided to give them another try. Got my nails done 1 week ago and half of them got damaged. Two completely fell off. When I went in, I wanted a whole new set because half of them were damaged and it was only matter of time for the other ones to get damaged since this was clearly not done properly. They wanted me to pay half eventually it was fixed complementary as it should be since I received such a poor experience. There are many salons in Tyson's, go to another one. read more

The time me and a friend went to Tysons Nail Longe was a nightmare. For one I had a gift card so felt very mistreated due the fact I had a gift card. We waited 35 minutes longer for our appointment. When the persons foi g our pedicure came they barely even took care of our feet. To busy talking in their own language about us. But sorry for them I understood. And I font know where they find these women to do bail services but they should surely bring a bee group in I feel that they probably dont even have a certification to do nail cuz noth of our pedicures were horrible. What a relaxing, happy experience! After a week of DC sightseeing, I was staying nearby and needed a polish change. Tracy gave me an excellent manicure -- really perfect polish application -- then a 20-minute foot massage. What a lifesaver after all that walking! Her ability to work all the kinks out was superb. Best of all, the energy in the salon was light and positive. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be working there with one another, and truly gracious and welcoming to the (surprisingly large already) clientele. It takes a bit of work to navigate the building, but you'll be glad you found this place! read more

Even after my asking her to be more careful, the tech kept scrubbing the tops of my feet (when doing callous treatment) with something resembling a copper wire mesh thing...left LOTS of cuts on the tops of my feet that quickly got infected. Really painful. Open wounds for weeks that would not heal well b/c in winter, you have to wear shoes! When I got back to town and asked them to make it right, they gave me an argument and kept saying "our products are safe..." or something like that. NOT going back there. Not a good way to handle a legitimately injured customer. Also annoying was the fact that I asked specifically for round nails, and she made them straight as a ruler, which I had to fix at home. The prices are a little on the more expensive side for general nail salons in NoVA, but for Tyson's/McLean it's about average pricing. The place is really clean, and has a very luxurious feel to it. I scheduled an appointment here for a manicure and was kept waiting for 15 minutes. I realized that the salon was short staffed since there were 4 other women sitting alone waiting for pedicures. The salon was clean and attractive but the customer service was terrible. There was no effort to apologize or check in when they were running behind, and when I got up to leave the receptionist told me "someone is coming to help you in a minute." When I asked her how much longer the wait would be she then told me "another 10 minutes." Overall really disappointed I wasted a Saturday afternoon and was not able to get my nails done. read more

Do not get your nails done here, specially with Happy! I had to get my nails done and my usual place was booked so I decided to try this salon. I asked for a simple gel manicure, nothing complicated. Happy rushed through the whole thing even though I had an appointment and the place was empty. She was deeply unprofessional, constantly stopping on my nails to talk to the nail technician next to her. After aggressively doing my cuticles (in which I had to tell her she had missed certain fingers because she was distracted talking to the other nail technician), buffing and filing my nails she started putting on the gel top coat!! I told her she had forgotten that I had to wash my hands and the residue of the nail failing would make the polish look bumpy. She continued and said it would be okay. She painted the nails in a rush with no attention to detail, getting polish all over her hands. The result was a sloppy, mediocre looking manicure that I need to get removed and done again. Also their website lists that a cell manicure with take off is $45, I was charged $51. Happy did put on a badly done short extension on one of my nails because it had chipped, but she said she'd give me a discount given the bumpiness in my manicure and the overall look. I don't think that was reflected on the pricing. In addition, the nail technician also made comments that left me feeling uncomfortable, at one point she asked if I had a boyfriend and if he looked like me or if he was American. I didn't know I had to look a specific way to be American? I had high hopes for this salon but it was a complete disappointment read more

I had a gel manicure ($40, which seems high priced to me but I'm new to the area), the polish was not smooth, a few lumps and bumps. Started chipping before 2 weeks. My first time trying this salon for coffin ombré and I'm ok with the outcome. I got done by Emily she was very nice and attentive I believe she may be the owner because seemed like she was in a rush but the salon was empty. When people started coming in or the phone rang she stopped and tended their needs. Doing my nails she was rushed about it, while filing down my nails she cut my pinky and ring finger but she was going so fast I didn't notice until I washed my hands.
