We got a seat outside, overlooking the water with the most beautiful view. (If you come you have to sit outside!) They also had live music which made it so special. We decided to order the platanos rellenos of ropa vieja and they were so good. Being from Miami and missing home, these definitely hit the spot. We also ordered sorullitos which were fried perfectly and so tasty. For dinner we split a cubano sandwich and it was so hearty. The pork was done to perfection and it was a perfect meal to split since we wanted to pick at different things. I can't wait to go back and try one of their dinner entrees!

We sat on the covered porch on the water as we waited for the rain (and the roads) to clear. I parked across the street, which was fine. The patio was nice, right on the water with boats bobbing and nice views. Service was team-style, with a young and enthusiastic staff who spoke English but really challenged my Spanish ability as well! Food came out pretty quick. I had a mojito which frankly was far from the best I had in this trip (it was t too sweet but the mont leaves seemed whole, not muddled). We had the conch ceviche which was EXCELLENT. We also split the seafood paella, which was also EXCELLENT. I was also very jealous of the whole red snapper being served at the table next to us, but no regrets - the squid, conch, shrimp, octopus, and mussels in the paella were all fantastic. Nice views, nice service, great food. Would highly recommend.

It was very easy to get seated and they are able to accommodate large groups. There was a table of 10 next to us, we were just a table of two. It was nice and cozy. I had the ginger Mojito, which was very flavorful, and my friend had the coconut Mojito, which was also very good. I enjoyed the mixture of all the flavors.. We some shrimp tocinos, plantains with beef on top, and the cheese balls. We also had rice with beans mixed in together, the Rice was a little bit dry. The cheese balls were my favorite! They had the perfect amount of crunch and melted very nicely into my mouth. The plantains were very good and the shredded beef on top was a nice touch. My only complaint - and it was a big one - was that it took us a while to get our check so we could leave. I'm talking 20 minutes. Prior to that it took 12 minutes to get us sodas to refresh us after the alcoholic beverages. If the food wasn't so good, I would have been much more upset. But overall I had a great time.

I ordered the longaniza risotto, which was such a delicious and hearty meal. The crispy pork skin on top was a nice touch to contrast with the creamy risotto. It had a generous amount of sausage chunks too. So good! Ambiance here is excellent since we were outdoors and were able to watch all the fun festivities going on at La Placita. We didn't have any issues with the service. Overall I really enjoyed my experience here!

Attire was relaxed-- I saw ladies in pants as well as dresses, men in pants and shorts, but the staff was dressed sharply in all black. We waited a bit while two hosts and a manager worked to assemble several tables on the patio for a group of ten which had arrived before us. The patio decor-- murals and greenery, were beautiful. We requested indoor seating near the bar, and were the second of four tables to be filled. The indoor seating was a bit darker, had two bartenders working nonstop, and three televisions were playing inside. The inside seating area was quieter and more intimate (plus cooler in temperature) than the patio option. Our server, Raul, promptly greeted us and asked if we preferred English or Spanish. Promising to give honest recommendations of our selections, he did-- and made great suggestions as well. We started with risotto balls as an appetizer-- the guava dipping sauce was delicious. They were cheesier than my husband could stomach, so several remained on our plate. For our entrees, my husband chose the Ropa Vieja en Canoa (peeled, hollowed out like a canoe). I selected the Fried Red Snapper (served whole) with creole sauce, a house salad (lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, orange slices, mango dressing) and fried sweet plantains. After a bite, I asked for a glass of Blanc de Blancs, which was a wonderful, crisp pairing. We could not finish our meals, much less entertain the offer of dessert. By the time we left, all four tables were being served inside, there were four gyesss eating dinner at the bar, and the patio seating looked maxed out as well. Ropa Vieja was certainly the best dinner experience we've had in these first three nights in San Juan. So happy the reviews were on point with this one!
