Love this place!!! Been going here for years. The service is great, restaurant is clean and bright, staff is friendly. I always take my niece here and she states "They have the *best* milkshakes!!!" 7 yr old approved :) The hot dogs are perfect Chicago style (celery salt!), corn dogs yummy, and gyros can't be beat. The waffle fries are also amazing, and you must get it with cheese. Not your regular stadium nacho cheese (yuck) but merkts cheddar cheese (the kind in the refrigerated section, in the tub). Best. A great addition to Northfield with a diverse menu for a traditional Chicago Style Deli (Hamburgers and Hot Dogs for out of towners). The Italian Beef was lean and not at all greasy, a nice departure. My wife had a tuna melt which was very good. They have an extensive heart healthy menu, which includes a turkey polish. I'd definitely like to try that next time. It was buzzing on the Saturday afternoon we went with our brood for lunch. Two flat screens to watch whatever your game is was also a nice touch. I just want to start off by saying that I'm shocked i even want to leave a negative review. I grew up eating at the old location off of willow and phingsten. I came to visit the new location about a week ago and got to speak to the owner about how much I appreciated his business and it being a place I have many fond memories of as a kid. Im really only writing this in hopes he sees this and realizes what happens when he isn't around. I walked in the door at 7:02pm while the cooks were busy making an order for a customer standing at the counter and was turned away even after I said all I wanted was a couple hotdogs and a fry. Im not sure if the gentleman I spoke to was just having a bad day, or is just a clock in and clock out type of employee, but i just feel like there's something wrong with this scenario. I want to add that I understand that after a long day people want to just get off of work and get home, but when you're working for a business that prides itself on being apart of the community, and taking care of every customer who comes through the door I feel like 2minutes is unstable ground to try and stand on. I'm a blue collar worker and work long hours every single day of the week to try and provide for myself so honestly I really just don't feel bad for expecting to be served when they had not even started cleaning up the cooks area and still were in the middle of making a customers order who couldn't have walked in more than 5 minutes before. I'm just really disappointed and don't feel like it's worth going out of my way to continue being a customer if that's the type of person I might have to deal with again in the future. I was a whole 2minutes after 7:00pm, the cooks were cooking, the fryers still hot and frying, a customer standing at the counter waiting on their order, and I walk in after a 10hr day and no chance to eat until I walked through that door and I'm told to leave. I wonder if the hundreds of small businesses that went out of business this last year would have turned me away for being 2minutes past closing. I'm extremely disappointed in a place I've been to so many times I couldn't even begin to count. Hopefully the owner sees this and reminds his employees that sometimes it's worth just letting someone order especially if every employee was still working and NOT cleaning up to go home. If you want to close at 7:00pm stop letting people come in at 6:30pm that way when you turn someone away at 7:02pm they're not standing there wondering why the heck they couldn't order their food. This is pretty much my family's favourite weekend lunch spot. They have fantastic burgers and dogs which are not at all greasy like some other places, but juicy and just delicious. I just went for the first time...the cheese fries, served in an overflowing cup with a fork, were delicious. The hotdog with everything was great and piled high, except for the pickle, which was covered in celery salt, I love celery salt but this was overkill. I've eaten there a few times. I remember when they were in Edgewater/ Skokie... I tried the Italian beef w/Hot peppers. One, I didn't order the Kids Beef. Very good tasting. Clean place, very good service. My only complaint is over $11.00 for a beef with a fry and drink? Beef way too small. Like many others, I also have been going to U Dawg U for many years....since the Mages days. I recently went there (on Happ Road). Their food is still absolutely delicious. Yes it's a little pricey with it being fast food; but what isn't pricey. The main thing is they give delicious quality food products every time I love that place!!! read more

The chicken wrap is to dieeee for! It's my absolute favorite item on the menu. If you're into spicy sauces, make sure to get the regular hot sauce with the chicken wrap or, if you want a kick with flavor, get the chipotle BBQ sauce with it. U Dawg U is a solid place to go for a Chicago-style hot dog or a nice burger and fries. The milkshakes, made with Homer's ice cream (the North Shore's best), are delicious, too. When U Dawg U on Willow and Pfingsten closed, I was highly disappointed because I haven't found another hot dog place I liked as much in Morton Grove, Niles, Glenview, or Northbrook. Then I was pleasantly surprised to run into the new location and I've been back several times. Not only does U Dawg U make an incredible chili dog, but they also make amazing fries, salads, and stir fry sandwiches. You can choose your own ingredients on their chicken teriyaki stir fry sandwich, and I especially like the fact that you don't have to get stuck w/ a bunch of items you don't want on the sandwich. Also the fries are always freshly made, piping hot, and never greasy. Sometimes it takes a little longer than anticipated to get your food, but it's definitely worth the wait.
