I haven't been to the SF location but I heard this place is more open and bright compared to the sister location (also that it's more group-oriented, less intimate of a setting.) Between 3 people we split the Thai tea lava toast as well as the volcano bingsoo. Both were $15, but definitely recommend the volcano bingsoo over the lava toast- bigger portion plus the dry ice set up makes it pretty picture-worthy. The Thai tea "lava" in the lava toast (you can't see it in the picture, but it's underneath all the cubed bread pieces) was too sweet for my liking, but the toast itself was buttery and good! We went on a weekday, in the afternoon (~2pm) and it was fairly empty, so the dessert did not take too long to come out. We were seated very quickly, given water, and order taken. It's a very cute place, with a pretty floral swing near the entrance, nice couches to sit if you had to wait to be seated, and a more botanical table with hanging plants and succulents if you had a bigger group. The booths also all have an outlet if you needed to charge your phone or study there. We got the large Mango bingsu, and it was tasty! There was a lot of fresh, sweet mango on top. The bingsu was so light and stayed "shredded" for almost the entire time we were eating it (aka didn't melt together very fast). It also came with mango sticky rice that I didn't like, but my partner did. The large was pretty filling for the 2 of us so we ended up not eating too much of the rice in the end. It is a bit pricy, but it's worth coming here once in awhile, both because the desserts are delicious, and because they are so pretty and picture-worthy. read more

We shared a strawberry cheesecake bingsoo and a slice of the matcha crepe cake; we ate the bingsoo first since it was going to melt, but it made the matcha crepe cake taste way more bitter...so if you get the matcha crepe cake don't eat it after a bingsoo :P Overall a good experience with, but it's expensive considering the portion size. Came here BEFORE Covid19 blew up so my review is a little bit late, but I just want to note to all the tourists (like myself) who are thinking about coming here: you can skip this. It was interesting and fun to eat the various components, but for $15, it's expensive for what it is. And what is it? It's some bread, ice cream, whipped cream, and berries. It's a lot of sugar. It's not mindblowing. And again, it's a LOT of sugar. It was hard to eat all this, and I was splitting it with my partner after we'd already walked like 1.5 miles and were able to walk another 4 miles. It still felt like too much. I wouldn't come back, and I wish we'd just skipped it. The bathrooms were clean though. Stonemill Matcha in San Fran is definitely where I'd go instead for pretty, delicious desserts that are interesting to eat and not overkill in terms of size and sugar load. read more

Wanted to like this place more but it's way too pricey and like another reviewer mentioned, kinda "mid". We got the mango sticky rice bingsu - it was pretty decent but the portion was small and there was hardly any mango (the pictures are not the same). Not only that but while the pictures all look like fresh mango, about half or more of ours tasted like they were canned (much darker and very different taste). I came in with a group of friends the morning of their soft opening. We were initially drawn in by the promotion they were having on their bingsoo. When talking to the staff, we asked about the difference between the sizes and he told us the small was meant to be a single serving. After hearing that, each of us ordered our own which was a mistake and we couldn't finish. We ordered the choco pistachio, 3x mango sticky rice and their hojicha bingsoo. A small is definitely good to share between 2 people. Mango sticky rice bingsoo: The bingsoo itself was nice and fluffy with the perfect texture. However the mangos were a little tart (makes sense since it's not mango season). The highlight of this dish, I would have to say was the small side of pandan sticky rice which paired really well. The ambience and decorations of the place was super pretty and aesthetic and I could see it being a nice place to hang out with friends. I understand that this was a soft opening, however I feel like I shouldn't have to allocate 2 hours to get dessert with some friends. We got there around 10am when they opened and there was no wait and we didn't get our food until almost 11:20 and some of us had places to be by 12. Groups that came in after us got their food before we did even though we had ordered some of the same items which made us think that they had forgotten our order. Does it physically pain me to pay $14+ for a slice of cake? Yes. Will I be back to do it all over again? Against all better judgement, probably also yes. Ordered -- Mango sticky rice toast (4.5/5): Delicious, golden buttery bricks of beauty paired with mango chunks, mango ice cream, and whipped cream. The whole pile is then smothered in mango sauce and condensed milk. Mangoes aren't in season so of course the chunks were tart & crunchy, but I was actually okay with that. The condensed milk would have made it too sickly otherwise (taste before you pour the whole container on, as we did...) The pandan sticky rice that came with it was creamy and warm. Eat before it gets cold or it becomes a stubbornly gelatinous solid -- still pretty tasty, but awkward to share. Thai tea crepe cake (4/5): Pretty good! Many many layer, a smooth tea flavor that wasn't overwhelming, and the cream was light & airy. A good try, but I wouldn't order it again when there's so many other interesting-looking things on the menu. Additional details -- Inside decor is a slightly overzealous cross between trendy boba shop and the height of hipster cafedom, so couches with elaborate pillows went next to a wall covered with mirrors, English quotes and about 50,000 fake hanging plants.
