    3 tier wedding cake

Thank you Lavender Bakery for providing us with excellent cake for our daughter's wedding this June. What an enjoyable process cake tasting at Lavender! The three tiered cake was a "show stopper" with the spatula frosting finish. The sheet cakes tasted fantastic. The ability to provide red velvet cake with cream cheese and carrot cake with cream cheese really sold us, the guests thoroughly enjoyed those!

Def been a while since I was last on Solano Ave in Berkeley but heard good things about this bakery and was in the area so why not. Coming from SF with some of the best bakeries in the bay....cant compare. Tried their Oreo cheesecake, the apple tart, the pistachio Turkish delight , plain croissant and carrot Cupcake. The apple tart with almost paste was delightful, the Turkish delight was good but only in small portions as it's quite dense and the carrot cupcake was moist and delicious! Those were the standouts. The others were meh.

Lavender Bakery has been one of my favorite bakeries (to die for cheesecake and pies) and I wanted to try their custom cakes for my in-laws' 50th anniversary party. They offered a complimentary cake tasting box which I thoroughly enjoyed and decided on marble cake with chocolate hazelnut ganache. Moist, flavorful and not too sweet. I had submitted some inspo cake pics and they did an amazing job! The cake was beautiful with the requested gold and blue with gold flecks. The Cal Bruin wedding bears they made were so cute and memorable. Truly a remarkable bakery with talented cake decorators. My FIL loved it so much he put the cake photo as his phone wallpaper!

This was the absolute best cake I could have gotten for my son's birthday! I ordered pretty last minute (about 1 week) for a custom cake, however they absolutely NAILED IT!! They were incredibly helpful and the attention to detail on the cake was amazing! It was also super delicious!! I would absolutely order from here again, they did a great job. Thank you so much

This is the sister bakery to Butter Sugar Flour in Sunnyvale. First time visiting the Berkeley location with bright and larger interior with inviting display of sweet treats. My favorite items are the Mexican Wedding Cookies (called Tea cookies at Butter Sugar Flour). Buttery and melt in your mouth with chopped pecans. Also bought a lemon bar which was a tad too sweet for me but the crust is a nice shortbread. Uncle liked the apple danish but mentioned it was more apple jam vs chunks of cooked apple within. Pricing very reasonable Service friendly and welcoming. Located on the corner of upper Solano (The Alameda) and Colusa near Andronico's Market. Metered street parking available

Beautiful cakes and pastries. Viennoiserie is casual - croissants are not the super tall layered beasts you see often in the bay, but are buttery and delicious. Savory scone was an unexpected hit - soft and tender. Eclair is well made, but at least for the pistachio, flavoring is only in the icing, cream filling is standard.

Aesthetic spot on a wholesome small town-esque street. As I walked inside I was absolutely astounded by the pastry and cake options. I initially heard that they have plenty of inside seating to work but was disappointed to see that they removed all of their seats and tables. I opted to get an almond croissant and a cappuccino which unfortunately did not live up to my expectations. The croissant was stale (I bought it at 10am) and the cappuccino tasted burnt. I've heard great thing about this place in the past, I hope this was just a fluke.

Came here on a Friday afternoon and got lucky and snatched the last two personal size burnt almond cake! Pro tip: you can order a lot of their cakes and pastries ahead of time on their website (at least day in advanced) if you do not want to risk coming in only to find what you wanted has sold out. This bakery serves a variety of cakes and desserts as well as coffees and teas. I've had their napoleon cake here before as well and it's divine but nothing can beat their burnt almond cake! The burnt almond cake has a strong a natural almond taste and not that artificial almond flavor you can find at other bakeries. The cake itself is very rich and moist. The fresh whipped cream frosting and the toasted almonds on the outside adds a very nice complexity and texture to the cake. The staff here are very friendly and will answer all your questions. The inside of the cafe does not have seating but there are a few tables outside. Parking here is mostly metered street parking but they do have a small parking lot as well. Overall a solid bakery and I will always recommend coming here if you're in town.

The bakery is fronted with large plate glass windows. There were a couple of occupied tables outside as well as some tables with benches and chairs inside. The interior is bright and airy. The display cases are full of beautiful cakes, pastries and cookies. It would be very easy to over order because everything looks so delectable. Somehow, I managed to keep my order down to six items but only because they were out of the one thing that I really stopped by for, a Leek Bistro, known at other bakeries as a Leek & Parmesan Croissant. Guess it just gives me another excuse to drop by! Service was terrific. I told the clerk that I would be getting a few items so she placed each on a tray until I finished ordering. That made it a lot easier for her to determine what size box to give me.

Literally the best Swiss cake I ever had. It was not sweet at all. I can't eat a lot of pastries/desserts due to sugar content. But this place literally blew my mind amazingly delicious this roll was. It's 10/10. Please don't ever change the recipe of it. The workers there were helpful and pleasure, the place is clean and spacious inside. This is now my go to place for some Swiss roll cake. Best time I come I am literally going to buy like 5 of them.

My boyfriend and I visited here last week during our trip to the area! There were so many options to choose from and everything looked delicious. We ended up choosing the lemon bar and the hazelnut neapolitan. Both were delicious! We would absolutely return again to try more items! Just knocking off one star for limited seating, there was seating outside, but I would love to see some seating inside too!

We decided to order 6 different pastries. I liked all of their Kouign Amanns a lot, especially the strawberry one which added a nice fruit element! Their kouign amanns have very crispy layers and very flaky. I'd honestly recommend all 6 of the pastries we tried, especially since the prices for this place are lower (~$6) than some other high quality bakeries around the Oakland and SF area. The decor inside the bakery is really cute and there are quite a few small tables you can sit at to enjoy the baked goods. Service was nice and fast. The ambiance is wonderful - I absolutely love the deep blue color scheme, the cute matching mugs, and gorgeous plants. They have a lot of different pastry choices, but unfortunately, there was only one vegan option: a tiny hazelnut sweet bread. I ordered the bread along with an Americano. When I tried to take the pastry out of the package to share it with my girlfriend, it completely crumbled into a big mess. I went up to the counter to let them know, and the employee told me it was actually meant to be eaten straight from the package. She mentioned it was on the drier side being vegan, she took the crumbled mess and gave me a new one but it ended up having the exact same issue. It wasnt dry, but it just wouldn't hold any moisture and was far too crumbly to eat. For $5, this tiny pastry was a major letdown. To make the interaction weirder, she took the original crumbled bread back from me and I'm only assuming threw it away, which felt entirely unnecessary. Having been vegan for nine years, I've had some truly amazing, moist vegan baked goods, so this was incredibly disappointing. While the vibe and aesthetic are great, the vegan options were major letdown. CC accepted Restroom available

We ended up getting three things: * The cheese twist was soooo good! The cheese was flavorful and the pastry itself was perfectly done. * The apple pastry was interesting. Unlike many places where the pastry is either bland or overly sweet, Acme's pastry had a slight saltiness to it, which I actually think is genius. I almost always prefer a hint of savory flavor to balance out the sweetness from the filling or topping. My only issue with this one was that the apple topping was not sweet at all and leaned more tart, so paired with the salty pastry, it was not quite the flavor combination I was hoping for. * The mini raspberry pastry had the same issue for me. The raspberry topping was just a bit too tart and sour for my taste. Even though not everything was a hit for me, I would definitely come back and give this bakery another chance, especially since we arrived so late and missed out on many of their most popular items.

I loved the crispy layers, and the flavors were absolutely on point. The Banana Milk Milk Bun had a great banana milk custard filling that was prominent yet not too overpowering. The bun itself was incredibly soft and had a topping that reminded me of a pineapple bun or a concha, which I loved. The Yuzu Meringue Bun was slightly on the sweeter side, but it was filled with a delicious, tart yuzu creme that paired perfectly with the crispy exterior. Yuzu Meringue Bun -- Spot on with the cruffin and meringue combination. The yuzu flavor was generous, although it leaned a little too tart for my personal preference. I wished there was more meringue -- perhaps having a layer of meringue in the center would have made it absolutely superb! Brown Butter Mochi Bites -- These were alright, but nothing particularly special. They were missing the signature mochi chewy texture, so they didn't quite feel "mochi" enough to truly be called mochi bites. Sesame Cookie -- Unfortunately, it was too hard and crisp for my liking. Crossubi -- A very unique concept and not bad overall. I just wish the interior wasn't quite as hollow; a little more filling would have elevated it.
