I like the interior it's very cozy very modern. They have a good selection of cake and they all look very pretty. The waitress was very nice and there was some seating inside. I will say the cake is a little bit on the sweeter side, but it's not overly sweet and I do like the chocolate Napoleon. It's very chocolatey and flavor, but also not overly sweet and have a hazelnut taste to it. It also has a little bit of crunchiness that I like. Amazing pastries, confusing ordering / paying / pickup process. Bathroom says unoccupied and has a number lock. Staff says needs no numbers, must be occupied. Nobody in it but door doesn't budge. Cappuccino undrinkable, scalding hot, barista doesn't know what they are doing. And only outdoor seating despite plenty of space inside but no tables and chairs. A truly strange place. Next time skip drinks and pick up amazing bakery goods and leave. Once cappuccino cooled down to drinking temperature, flavor was disgusting. read more

Lavender Bakery has been one of my favorite bakeries (to die for cheesecake and pies) and I wanted to try their custom cakes for my in-laws' 50th anniversary party. They offered a complimentary cake tasting box which I thoroughly enjoyed and decided on marble cake with chocolate hazelnut ganache. Moist, flavorful and not too sweet. I had submitted some inspo cake pics and they did an amazing job! The cake was beautiful with the requested gold and blue with gold flecks. Coming from SF with some of the best bakeries in the bay....cant compare. Tried their Oreo cheesecake, the apple tart, the pistachio Turkish delight , plain croissant and carrot Cupcake. The apple tart with almost paste was delightful, the Turkish delight was good but only in small portions as it's quite dense and the carrot cupcake was moist and delicious! Those were the standouts. This is the sister bakery to Butter Sugar Flour in Sunnyvale. First time visiting the Berkeley location with bright and larger interior with inviting display of sweet treats. My favorite items are the Mexican Wedding Cookies (called Tea cookies at Butter Sugar Flour). Buttery and melt in your mouth with chopped pecans. Also bought a lemon bar which was a tad too sweet for me but the crust is a nice shortbread. Uncle liked the apple danish but mentioned it was more apple jam vs chunks of cooked apple within. Back in 2021, I ordered a fruit tart cake (fruit on top of custard, with a crust.) Sorry, I don't know the proper name for it. I ordered in advance and paid in advance. It was about $40.00. This was for a friend's birthday and I was the designated cake provider. I got a phone call at the last minute from the woman giving the party that another guest was bringing a birthday cake and could I bring something else? The other guest never bothered to call me and ask to switch food items. Lavender Bakery said, "No problem," when I explained the situation. They gave me a full cash refund without a hassle. This was very gracious of Lavender, and an example of their excellent customer service. read more

Came here on a Friday afternoon and got lucky and snatched the last two personal size burnt almond cake! Pro tip: you can order a lot of their cakes and pastries ahead of time on their website (at least day in advanced) if you do not want to risk coming in only to find what you wanted has sold out. This bakery serves a variety of cakes and desserts as well as coffees and teas. I've had their napoleon cake here before as well and it's divine but nothing can beat their burnt almond cake! The burnt almond cake has a strong a natural almond taste and not that artificial almond flavor you can find at other bakeries. The cake itself is very rich and moist. The fresh whipped cream frosting and the toasted almonds on the outside adds a very nice complexity and texture to the cake. The staff here are very friendly and will answer all your questions. The inside of the cafe does not have seating but there are a few tables outside. Parking here is mostly metered street parking but they do have a small parking lot as well. Overall a solid bakery and I will always recommend coming here if you're in town. read more

The bakery is fronted with large plate glass windows. There were a couple of occupied tables outside as well as some tables with benches and chairs inside. The interior is bright and airy. The display cases are full of beautiful cakes, pastries and cookies. It would be very easy to over order because everything looks so delectable. Somehow, I managed to keep my order down to six items but only because they were out of the one thing that I really stopped by for, a Leek Bistro, known at other bakeries as a Leek & Parmesan Croissant. Guess it just gives me another excuse to drop by! Service was terrific. I told the clerk that I would be getting a few items so she placed each on a tray until I finished ordering. The folks ordering in front of me seemed to be regulars, and I went with what they got which was an eclair (soo good) and some mango mouse cake thing which was divine. I overheard folks in line mention ordering online for an event, so you can order ahead of time on the website for cakes. I recommend this place. Heads up, not a ton of seating indoors...BUT it's a lovely neighborhood to walk up and down, and there's some seating, just not a ton. I would highly recommend their burnt almond cake -- it's a lovely marriage of textures between their soft cake, creamy filling & frostings, and crunchy toasted almond flakes. The hardest part is going to be picking only a few items because you want to eat everything. I've had different eclairs, the hazelnut napoleon cake, almond chocolate croissant, burnt almond cake dessert, and coffee. Everything was really delicious! I've also ordered a half sheet dark chocolate truffle cake for a retirement party last minute and it was a hit. We chose Lavender Bakery for our wedding cake tasting after reading so many great reviews, and we're so glad we did. Ali, the manager, was incredibly accommodating and had the tasting box prepared for us with so many different flavors and combinations they had put together. We loved many of their flavors and we ended up choosing a three-tier cake, with each tier featuring a different buttercream flavor: passion fruit, guava, and mango. When it came to the design, we wanted each tier to be a different color and shared our vision with the team. They absolutely exceeded our expectations. The cake turned out even more beautiful than we had imagined. Here's a photo of the final cake (the flowers were added by our florist, but the cake itself is entirely Lavender Bakery's work). I took a chance and ordered the Almond Crunch Cake for a small get together. I say I "took a chance" because I've never tried this bakery or the cake, but I'm glad I did because there were a lot of nice surprises: 1 - The cake was HUGE for its price, I thought it was going to be a bit smaller considering it was around $66. 2 - Everyone enjoyed the cake! I'd say it would be perfect for a crowd that prefers a pastry-like cake, not so sweet, and loves a crunch. After searching for a few weeks for a local bakery to create my son's first birthday cake I found Lavender bakery online. It was difficult finding a bakery that was available Thanksgiving weekend. Communication was simple and I appreciated the information given online about the ordering process. We communicated via email about what I wanted and Ali was so helpful about making sure my order was correct. Everyone asked where the cake was from, we received so many compliments on the flavors and design. I asked to recreate a cake I saw online for my son's 1st birthday which was Little Bear themed.
