On May 28th, 2025 I settled on getting a hitch for my 2025 Jeep Compass. On my confirmation I was scheduled for June 6th at 8am, and I get a call Wednesday June 4th rep. on the phone let me know my hitch was in and there installer would be in at 11 am on Thursday June 5th. I get to the store and I find out right then and there that the bumber on my Jeep would have to be cut to make room for hitch. I asked if they had before and after pictures and the man told me they don't do that. Like why wouldn't you have pictures of your work to help people in making decisions Long story short my car wasn't even taken to the back to make sure it needs to get cut. Uhaul has been great to me until I encountered the manager at this location. I rented a uhaul 6x12 trailer for $70 from another uhaul location to pick up an ATV I had bought, only to find out the trailer only had an opening of 5'6 and the ATV would not fit. I had to abandon the ATV at the side of the freeway and I was stuck 400 miles from home with a dangerous situation. I looked up local uhaul on Google and this location was 4 miles away. I spoke to the manager and asked to exchange the useless 6x12 trailer for a car hauler, but he would not rent me anything until I checked in the trailer I already had rented, for this he charged me $820! Then wanted another $260 for the replacement trailer. My $70 rental ended up costing me well over $1000 The manager showed now sympathy for my situation and took no responsibility for the fact the 6x12 trailer would only fit 5'6" ATVs. He would not let me rent another trailer until I paid him over $800 and would not let me leave the uhaul trailer in his yard for even 1 hour while I rescued the stranded ATV. I was totally ripped off and held at ransom. I rented a 6x12 ATV trailer only to find out it was no where near capable of loading a 5"6' ATV and then was held at ransom and forced to pay outrageous fees. It delayed my road trip by an entire week and no one answered when I called to check on the status. I understand them being busy for the holidays but I had to call corporate to get a call back. I have spent money at Uhaul for several years, and as of today that ends permanently. I went to rent a utility trailer, which I've already done 3 times this year from THIS exact location with NO PROBLEMS, and was refused service. Not only was I refused service from the employee and the manager on duty, but also from their corporate management representatives. Why? I'll tell you gladly: I had completely filled out their online form in advance (name, phone, address, cc, vehicle make/type/plate#, photos of my DL front/back, wife's phone#) and went inside with my DL and the credit card I used to pay in advance. After giving the gal at the register my name and #, she tells me she needs to call my phone to verify that it's ME. Uh, I'm standing here with my LICENSE AND CREDIT CARD, how is that not verification enough? My wife is in the car, the car is running, and I'm in a hurry to just haul some of my crap to the dump, so now I'm annoyed with the inconvenience and ask to speak with the manager thinking he'll listen to reason, and was sadly mistaken. I concede and grab my phone, bring it in, they call, it rings...good, right? NOPE. NOW, they need to call my alternate contact, which is my wife who is in the car. They call HER and she doesn't pick up because she doesn't pick up for random #'s, so now I have to get HER to answer so we can get on with our Sunday. All done? HELL NO! She finally asks me for a 3RD NUMBER. I tell her "I don't HAVE a 3rd number, just my wife and me." She responds with "I need the number of a friend or somebody else." WOW. To rent one trailer to take for a few hours, I have to not only give all MY info, but now friends' and my family's information as well? You don't even have to do this with rental cars!!!! They tell me this is their "personal assurance policy" so that they can annoy all your friends if you steal their shit. First of all, I paid for the insurance and second, I asked if I could just put down a deposit. Wouldn't a deposit for the trailer be better than a phone number or two? I guess not! Their corporate office told me that I can either give them that info or go somewhere else. Just so you know, fellow Yelpers: what they are asking for is a major VIOLATION OF PRIVACY. What happens if a battered spouse is trying to move away from her abusive husband? What if you don't want people know when you're away from your home? What happened to YOUR personal assurance? The manager John K. was servicing me but kept putting my services on hold to argue with another customer or disappearing. I got there at 10:45 for my appointment and didn't leave until 11:30. Near the end of the transaction John made Juan help me. We finalized the order and then apparently John forgot to charge me for the additional parts I needed for the 5'×8' trailer I was renting, so I was charged an extra 25. Then I guess one of the parts was not counted for. Juan wanted to give me $25 off for the bad service, but then John suddenly took over and only gave me $15 off even though I was told $25. So with all the crackheads outside loitering, their credit card machine kept freezing, their lack of communication, terrible service from the MANAGER of all people, this was by far the WORST customer service experience I've ever had. read more

I was told by a U-Haul representative that I would be receiving an auto transport trailer two hours from my current location. Upon arrival the sales associates were extremely unprofessional telling me my RV was parked in a spot that needed to be moved. Which was odd since they asked me to pull it back to exact spot to receive trailer. As I waited the female continued to correct the male associate in front of customers as if in a flirting manner clearly wasting customer time. After all the steps I had to take to rent my already reserved trailer (phoning someone to verify me???) I was told to wait outside where I then waited for over 15 minutes for a male employee to assist me. He wasn't very knowledgeable. It was all I could do to get him to look at the trailer to see if the lights were working. He stood with his hands in his pockets leaning on trailer as I showed that my lights to my rig as well as to my vehicle that was to be towed were clearly working and the auto transport was NOT. At this point the employee refused to get another pigtail or try a different trailer, dolly, anything at this point as I had reservations five hours away with a deadline. U-Haul basically told me they didn't care and it was not their problem they had wasted over two hours driving and another hour and a half at the store to wind up on the side of the road. I will never ever recommend U-Haul. After speaking to customer service I still was told they couldn't assist me. Very very disappointed and shocked at such bad business. read more

Hands down the worst uhaul I've ever been to. Caurhauler was not hooked up right and came off and hit my truck. When I told the "owner" John Kovanen he told me it was my fault because I didn't check his techs work! Then when we went out to look at the damage he told me to " go back inside I don't need you out here" as sarcastic as someone could. So then I talk to the insurance for uhaul ( REPWEST) I think it is all gonna be good, and I go home to Oregon get a appraisal for the repairs send in all the info in. Next day I get a call from the insurance adjuster ( Darryl Balark) telling me they are not gonna cover damages! Just last week he is telling me no problem and now they won't fix my truck. I then had to proceed and show my debit card, business card even a CPR card showing everything matches! Called U-haul and called their Union Ave location If they had any covered trailers and the answer was yes then asked what size tow ball was required and answer was 2" and I told her my ball was larger then 2" and she told me they would change it. drove across town and was told that they do not change balls. I had a great experience today with this U-Haul location. Someone tagged (with multiple colors of spray paint) nearly the entire side of the truck I rented. The manager, Jose, allowed me some time to try to remedy the issue. I spent hours scrubbing and a decent chunk of money with cleaning products trying to clean the truck. If I didn't do this, the cost would've been nearly $200 for them to clean it. I brought the truck back with just a few traces of color on it and he didn't charge me some outrageous fee. I paid for the gas and the amount of days I had it. Needless to say, I learned to ALWAYS BUY THE INSURANCE! Lesson learned. I appreciated their willingness to work with me. Thanks, Jose! read more
