The clerk laughed out loud and called another clerk to look at my shirt and share the guffaws. I understand people have various attitudes toward my profession, especially in this divisive age. However, I found it incredibly rude and disrespectful to mock a customer's T-shirt -- regardless of its message. I realize they are likely more ignorant than malicious. I always receive quick, friendly and professional service. The manager Antonio and his Coe worker Vlad go above and beyond. Weather it's getting me a last second reservation. The problem with U Haul is not the particular employees or locations; it is the deceitful and exploitative corporate model and practice itself. Today I rented one of their vans which was touted as being $19.95 for a day! Yay! I rented a van from this location that was so poorly parked that I had to make myself a paper doll in order to squeeze myself inside of it. More fun coming! That $19.95 for a day became over $60 dollars for 4 hours traveling under 20 miles. How does 4 hours constitute a day? How does $19.95 a day become over $60 for 3 hours and less than 20 miles? Gave me a truck that was not ready to be rented put, wrong mileage wrong info wrong amount of gas, then when I took it back they told me I had to return it clean or else I would get charged the 20 something fee. I said ok I can clean it. I hosed the back out and wiped down the inside passanger and driver area. I still got charged the cleaning fee. Drove in today at 1045 to get some propane for the BBQ. The tank is located a couple of hundred feet from their office. There is a sign that says "Ring the buzzer for FAST service" So I did. A minute later a young lady appears and says she is not certified to dispense the propane. But if I wait 20 minutes the manager would come out and help me. Well, I just had 20 minutes, so I said OK, plopped myself back in the car to wait. 25 minutes later, no manager, so I went in search of the previous mentioned young lady. I've never been treated so poorly at this location. So disappointed. Due to covid 19 we had to consolidate because of the economy. We needed a truck to move things to storage. The check in process was fine. I had parked my car on uhaul property in front of the storage units. I even asked if it was ok to park there and was told it was fine. I returned to find my car parked in so I could not get in. I talked to an employee who snapped at me and said "you shouldn't park in my parking space, you can wait until I'm done". I am in complete shock of the service that I received at the Beaverton U-Haul. I initially made a reservation to pick up and drop off the truck at the Sherwood U-Haul. I called the day before to set up my reservation and the call center rep accidentally set it for Beaverton. I went into the Beaverton U-Haul and was helped by a young man named Hector. I started to tell Hector what was wrong and he said that he would need to get his assistant manager to help me. Jacob Johnson AKA Jake is the assistant manager at this location. When he came to help me he had an immediate high level of agitation with me. His tone of voice and demeanor made me feel very uncomfortable. I was just trying to get my truck and I was expressing my frustration and he told me "you can either pay me and get the truck or you can leave here without a truck."  I'm not sure why he took it so personal, I was just expressing frustration. He started to get more agitated and almost aggressive towards me. I called him out on his behavior and he told me to leave "his store." Desperate to get the truck that I needed to handle an emergency I coward to him and told him I was sorry and needed to get a truck. He asked me if I was going to leave my car parked there while I was using the truck and I said yes. He told me that I could go and park in the parking lot of the neighboring business called Precision Body & Paint of Beaverton. All of the parking spots there are clearly labeled that cars will be towed unless they are customers of Precision Body and Paint. Jake told me that they probably won't tow me but he can't guarantee it. I asked him if I could get that in writing and his response was "nope."  His behavior kept getting more and more rude and extremely aggressive. Eventually, he handed me my contract and the keys to the truck. As I was getting ready to leave I took a picture of him just in case he would try to pull some funny business on me. As a single woman I can never be too sure of how to handle an aggressive man. He told me that I had to delete the picture and I started to walk away. He said he was going to call the cops and I continued to walk away and then he got on the phone with 911.  I'm not sure what came about with the cops because they never came.  I got in the truck and drove it off the lot. Luckily I had somebody else with me who could drive my car off the lot. Upon returning the truck a few hours later we were greeted with the same harsh behavior. We have been using uhaul trucks and a storage unit at this location since the beginning of the pandemic because we decided to move across state at a perfect time. The employees have been nothing but pleasant, accommodating, and generous! Man let me tell you we have seen some of the worst customers that come in here that they have to deal with. They are professional and kind every time! Shout out especially to Ector for helping us with our truck and closing out our storage today on our last trip. YOU AND YOUR TEAM ARE AWESOME! Paid and reserved a trailer in advance. Today, that trailer wasn't available, not only that but after they decided they couldn't find it they moved on to other customers. Once someone finally decided to help me get a trailer, the only one they had was busted and they wouldn't rent it, tried making me pay for a truck or some other garbage. This UHaul company is bar one amazing!! I made a reservation by phone and then came in to get my moving truck. The gentleman that helped me was very nice and got me out quick. I would encourage everyone to get the $28.00 full coverage. That covers the entire moving truck including the hood. I paid 19.00 + 28.00 for full coverage and .79 a mile. My final total was $54.00. Excellent rates and easy to work with. You must have a credit card or debit card to reserve. Must have a valid drivers license. I highly recommend this UHaul company!! read more

Understaffed, no parking for your personal vehicle as well as the customer service associate at the front counter was being very rude to an elderly couple. They also charged me for equipment I didn't receive and no credit for the extra gas I put in the truck. The cab smelled like cigarette smoke as well. Oh, and my truck didn't come with a lock so my belongings could have easily been stolen. Extremely poor customer service. There was a long line and it was moving very slow. Plan on being here for 30 minutes when accounting for pick up time. Bob pretended like he didn't have our reservation (not a funny joke) he was making snide remarks and I can't help but feel it was because we are 3 females in our twenties. We had just come from the gas station when we brought the u-haul back. It had a quarter tank but they said it was just below the line so they wanted to charge a 30 dollar fee. I was surprised how much I ended up liking U-Haul that I had to write a review. This was my third move since moving to Oregon five years ago but it was my first time using U-Haul. Their online reservation is very easy to use & even though reservations are guaranteed you will be compensated $50 should you not receive the equipment size, location, and pick up time you agreed to. Prices vary whether you're renting during the week or weekend. Of course it's higher during the weekend & you have a less chance of reserving the truck size & pick up time you want. As soon as you know when & where then make an online reservation. I wouldn't call to schedule because their scheduler doesn't quite link with the online system. I made a reservation online (confirmation # given) even though their scheduler showed no availability. A 24' truck was available when I arrived. I wouldn't pay additional for insurance especially if you're just moving within the same city. They don't push it on you too much nor do they try to force you to buy moving supplies. Any of their supplies you do decide to use they'll just add to your bill after returning the truck. Don't fill the tank until the nozzle stops. The trucks can fill an additional five to six gallons after the full line so if you do you''ll basically be paying gas for the next customer. We drove a total of 51 miles courtesy of the previous customer. When it was time to return the truck the needle had just dropped to the full line & we didn't have to pay for gas during the entire rental. We reserved the truck for 24 hours but we ended it up being 15 min past the drop off time. They didn't charge an additional day since it was within 30 min. Overall the cost to rent & miles driven was $87. Not too bad to move two, two bedroom apts into one house. The service was great. They explained everything in detail & answered our questions. The truck didn't break down & if it did we were provided a service number to call for help. When I need to move again, which shouldn't happen for at least 30 years, then U-Haul will be my go-to moving truck company. read more

Crap...what to do? What to do? I have to move an old mattress and have a small car. *bing* Rent a pick up truck from UHaul. We made the reservation with the guy over the phone for 3pm on Saturday. Keep in mind, I am working on a tight timeline to get these mattresses to the dump in time. First, we call to make the reservation. The guy reserves a 10' truck instead of the pick up truck, telling us that our stuff won't fit in the pick up, AND that we wouldn't want to deal with rain. Last time I checked, I'm not an idiot and know what I want. After some probing, we discover that they do not have pick up trucks at their location. Finally, after some convincing, he makes the reservation. We get to the U Haul location at 2:45pm to pick up the truck. There is a long line of people waiting with two cashiers. Finally, after 20 minutes the assistant manager crawls out of his hole and decides to help. He looks like a 70's porn star. Porn 'stash and all. Great. This is getting better and better. He decides to "help" us. He is extremely rude and short. I love great customer service. Furthermore, he wants to charge us 89 cents/mile as opposed to 59 cents that we agreed to. And he's being a jerk about it. After a $80 deposit we leave in the truck. It's 3:30pm. After running late for two hours we return the truck. With my luck we get to deal with the same guy again. Needless to say the experience was a pain in my ass. I understand that UHauls are busy on the weekends, but don't give me an attitude all while overcharging me - I don't have the patience. read more

Avoid this location at all costs! Owner/General Manager was very rude and condescending. You can tell he hates his job because he just mumbles through his spiel expecting you to listen to every word he says when zips right through it. When I wanted clarification on something he said, he just looks at me like I'm an idiot. At that point, I was done being offended and just nodded my head so I could get out of there. I leave feedback through the website saying how unprofessional his service was so he calls me on Monday to make things right. He tried to apologize but when it's all said and done, he could not do anything to bring back my business to his joke of an establishment. It's not ok to treat customers anyway you want but then come groveling to them when they complain about your poor lack of customer service. Did not rent from this place. I only returned. If you're going to rent from here, I'd possibly recommend as it looked like they had a ton of inventory. Returning sucks. First, sitting in a return line with no one working was not awesome. Then, when he finally comes out 15 minutes later, it is super unclear what the guy was telling us (forcefully) to do. He just kept saying to "bring it by the cones on the drivers side", which made zero sense. Update: Decided to give this location another shot. I had to rent a couple of trucks the past month because we got a new couch, had to later donate our old couch, and then for moving into a new apartment. Each time I came to rent a vehicle I was greeted with very friendly staff who helped me chose the best options for me. I'm glad I gave this location another chance, because I am very pleased. I am changing my 1 star review to a 4 star because I believe they have really improved. Original 1 star review: I went to this location to rent a truck for moving. I have never rented a truck, and do not know much about renting vehicles. The person behind the counter was very rude. As I was trying to read the paperwork, he got very impatient and told me "all you need to do is click ok". When it came to the insurance, I was trying to decide what option would be best. He didn't give me time to read each one, when he started to ask other people they can help me because "it's not that hard to choose an option". The whole time I was being helped, I felt like incapable of making any decisions. He was also rude with other workers there. There was even some curse words exchanged. Very unprofessional. When I returned the truck the next day, I went to someone else who can help me. She was very rude as well. While I was asking her about the paper, the rudely replied "that's why you read the highlighted parts". They also charged me for 30 miles, even though I used 10.5. When I asked them about it, they would not give me a straight answer, and continued to treat me rudely. I was very disappointed, and will not be visiting this location again. I first walked in the door and there were at least five employees just sitting behind the desk talking to each other not one of them welcomed me in or would even respond to me. Until I walked up to somebody and he decided that instead of helping me he wanted to make a phone call. When he clearly was not on the phone before. Finally after a few minutes of waiting, One of the other people decided that they wanted to actually help a customer. And then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't rent their trailer because their system said my truck was not powerful enough to be able to haul it even though it has more than enough and I've done it in the past. Instead of apologizing or offering any sort of alternative he just essentially said tough luck and was no more help. If you actually need to get anything done or value customer service in any way shape or form I would never recommend this location for their atrocious customer service and lack of general care for their business. read more

The worst u-haul establishment I have ever been to. Bob was rude and accused us of wanting to steal the U-Haul if we didn't give him a secondary contact. When we picked up the U-Haul, it barely had a quarter tank of gas. We went to return to it at the end of the day, and they copped an attitude, stating that they would charge an extra $30 because it didn't look exactly at a quarter tank, even though when we picked it up there was barely any gas in it to begin with.(they previously stated early in the day that as long as there was a quarter tank in the truck everything would be fine and there would be no extra charge. Mind you? we had just come from the gas station. So they allowed us to go put more gas in, after they got permission not to charge us extra. Also one of the workers said we almost ran him over, which no one saw him standing anywhere near the truck. If you need to rent a U-Haul, don't waste your time or money. read more

THE WORST. Do not use. I ordered a trailer hitch on 6/2 with installation on 6/9 they changed it to 6/11 without advising me so I called ahead of 6/11. No trailer hitch. On hold multiple times for an hour before hanging up finally got through three times each time they said they would have someone call me including the manager, they did not. So FIVE weeks later I went in masked up and talked to the awful manager. Still didn't have it. So I was going to order my own from Amazon and have them install it. He jacked the price up $110!!!! My recent experience here was NOT very positive. I've visited their Facility before, and with similar results. Some of their staff are extremely helpful. The "upper echelon," with whom the already limited HELPFUL staff must often deal-with, are often less-than-competent, and rarely share the customer service values of the aforementioned, helpful staff. I leave this slightly vague, simply due to my desire to keep this short, and also because my negative customer experiences seem to have applied to most of my dealings with U-Haul, specifically the Beaverton Facility. To keep a long story short, what the helpful staff attempts to accomplish with their customers, is often overruled by their own, "upper echelon" bosses. More often than not, expect to leave there less-than-satisfied. Their own front-end staff usually acknowledges this publically, anyway. So it is fairly common knowledge. Their competitors, like the outfits that begin with an "R," are indeed more expensive. But I have now learned that is for a reason. You indeed get what you pay for. Also, I have a pending insurance claim with U-Haul, that is approaching a year. The "red tape" with this Organization is bad enough. The frustrations with the Beaverton facility is in need of serious improvement. This is my second incident here. So I finally decided to say something about it. Please spare yourself the headaches (and aspirin, ibuprofen, etc,) with the Beaverton Facility. If you insist on using U-Haul, I would suggest perhaps Hillsboro, or elsewhere. read more

I waited until the last minute to try to get a 26 foot truck and no one had one. I called all of the uhaul locations in my area and could only get a 17 foot. I made the reservation for the 17 foot truck to make sure I had something. I finally decided to try budget and they did give me a reservation for the 26 foot truck I needed so I canceled my reservation with uhaul. Later that night I got an email from uhaul telling me they had the reservation for the needed 26 foot truck next day. Budget had my CC# so I went to get my truck from them... They didn't one for me when I got there. So I went to uhaul, they had a truck waiting for me and saved my move! To add icing to it I got another email the next day from another uhaul associate asking if I still needed a truck and that he could give me one. When I reserve a 20 ft truck and show up and get a 26 ft truck that's complete bs. I reserved the 20ft truck because that's what fits in my parking area. I didn't reserve the 24ft truck (which is the same price) so obviously I wanted a 20ft truck. Then they tell me that's all they have. I call corporate and they tell me unless the facility called me and told me I was specifically getting a 20 ft there is nothing they can do. Despite the fact that I have an email from them confirming my 20 ft truck. So now I have the distinct honor of shuttling stuff to the truck with my car and brute strength. UHAUL sucks!!!! So thankful for their recommendations, rigging up the auto transport to our truck rental and saving us money by letting us know we could use a smaller truck. I rented a truck from UHaul of Beaverton and 45 minutes after I left the lot, I found myself broken down on the side of Interstate 5 between Portland and Seattle. It was a very unsafe situation with tractor trailers speeding by and heavy traffic. The reason that our vehicle broke down was that it was more than 3 QUARTS LOW ON OIL! This represents a serious lack of maintenance processes as this was not just one missed inspection. Keep yourself and your loved ones safe and rent from some other location. read more

The truck rental process was good. The problem I had was the cleaning fee of $25 added after I had returned the truck. The back of the truck had a light covering of dry mud in spots when I picked it up. It was the exact same when I returned it. So, the truck was not cleaned properly prior to picking it up, was not inspected and I was charged a fee that I should not have been. I reserved a truck with Uhaul for the 2nd time this year at this location, and it reminded me of how convenient and painless my first experience was. I did the same thing as last time - all online at uhaul.com. Enter your zip, pick out a truck, location and date. Then you consider your options. By default, they'll have several options "pre-selected" for you, which you NEED to be wary of, and is the reason for the deduction of a star. Here's what's checked for you BY DEFAULT: "Safemove" Truck rental coverage $14.00 2 Utility Dollys @ $7.00 each - $14.00 1 Furniture Dolly @ $7.00 each - $7.00 5 dozen (what the...) furniture pads @ $10.00 per dozen - $50.00 (!) So... be aware that if you're just clicking away willy-nilly that you'll be a whopping $85 in the hole. Do what I do, start un-clicking radio button options with a quickness and leave 1 dozen furniture pads checked. So far the tone of this review isn't as positive as a 4 star review of mine would normally warrant. BUT, here's the truth: my online order last time was extremely smooth. I got there bright and early in the morning and was checked out quickly and efficiently. I may have a little bit of euphoria since we're moving out of an apartment and into our "dream home". Came to return tow, a random uHaul van starts honking at us from afar and yelling at us incoherently. Since it could be absolutely anyone, maybe some wacko, we decide to just continue going about our business. Since we didn't understand a word he was yelling due to the distance we proceeded to go into the area clearly labeled "RETURNS" as we were RETURNING A TOW. Santino (we found out his name when he came running and angrily flailing his arms at us) runs up to our van and starts yelling at me and my boyfriend "GET OUT, GET OUT, WE ARE VERY BUSY, WHY DID YOU COME IN WHEN I TOLD YOU TO GET OUT?!?". We indicated that we could not have heard him and we're simply following the signs! He called him mother you know what while rambling about how they JUST opened and are already VERY BUSY so he can not help us and is "already losing time by taking to us". I notice the gentleman (NOT) is of Hispanic descent and I ask if he speaks Spanish because MAYBE the language barrier is blocking his understanding of how incredibly unprofessional he's being, I start speaking Spanish and he immediately starts yelling at me, AGAIN, just this time in Spanish. Great, I love being offended bilingually. Eventually someone stepped in and helped us out (shoutout to Nicholas!) but the stab of the initial horrific customer service was still there. The uHaul culture of muttering an instruction and then looking at you like you're an idiot when you don't hear it and thus fail to immediately follow it is alive and well at this location. OMG please stay away. Had a Tow Bar put on my new Rav4 sometime back. Bait and switch on what would be delivered. Such as: "Yes, this price will 100% cover everything, please sign here." Then midway through service, "Sorry looks like you will need another $45 for this and that piece." Then, "Oh, you wanted electrical to run under the car and not through internal spare tire well and out through crack in rear hatch? Well, that feature will be another $90." These guys are really slimy. Please go to another U-Haul as there are so many better. Quite honestly, I would have wrote this review a while back, yet they made such a big deal of collecting my home address and personal information I was truly scared they would come at me personally with bodily harm.
