Alright where do I start as the entire process was extremely poor from first encounter to "last". I emphasize last because there technically was no last contact or follow up. Customer service is NOT a thing here. I came to the store a day early to reserve a trailer as online indicated only one was available and I didn't have a hitch for my new truck. So I came in and everyone working there appeared as if they didn't want to be bothered or do any task associated with the job they're being paid to do. I grabbed the last hitch on shelf to buy for the following day and the associate explained he'd sell it tomorrow. He preferred I just buy it the next day. Hello? It's my decision and I had to explain to him I'd like it today as it's the last one. Why am I talking him into a sale with my money? It annoyed me. Also the ball wasn't spun onto the hitch. He also didn't want to be bothered when I requested it be spun onto it. He did not want to get out his chair or off his phone he was on since I walked in. I looked past it and went ahead with also renting the trailer that day. The next day I showed up and noticed 4 more trailers not even rented so clearly the store isn't updating inventory correctly. When I came to pickup the trailer, again the associate didn't want to be bothered to check me out and was just sitting there. Another worker came in with sagging pants also seemed annoyed he had to assist with customers as a female coworker was insisting he help with the other customers. Fast forward I brought the trailer back to the store less than 12 hours later. A worker was outside where I pulled the trailer into a stall. He helped me unhook and explained I didn't have to go in the store he'll check out my trailer. I felt weird about it but took his word. Weeks later I get a bill for using a toll with the trailer. The bill didn't include or attach any evidence so felt it wasn't an honest approach as I'd like to review the toll. I requested more evidence from uhaul and see I was actually charged for a week with the trailer! Immediately called the store which was no help, then the 1800 number also no help and then the regional office which never got back to me. I was on the phone for over two hours and transferred around over and over. No one was allegedly capable of refunds for ripping me off. It felt like a scam to me. Not one person ever apologized either. Zero follow up so the charge is now disputed with my credit card. Ridiculous. read more

This is definitely a one stop shop location. They have all the moving vehicles. This is also a storage facility. This place also sells all your packing needs. It took me about 3 minutes to reserve a u-haul truck. I will definitely buy some bubble wrap and a mattress case from this location when I move. read more

Horrible experience the app didn't let me finish and didn't tell me what to do on were to leave the key so I called to report that I got told that the manager was going to contact me and the person didn't have the decency to to call so I could. What a team they have at this location and Erick DIabo really went the extra mile for us as we prepared for a long self-move. Thank you, Erik Uhaul has a pesky clause in their rental agreement that states "U-Haul reserves the right to schedule an alternate pick up location..." Since we had two pieces of equipment reserved, we were faced with TWO pick up locations and Erik fixed this for us. We were going to need a truck plus a trailer and Erik offered to make certain BOTH pieces of equipment would be at a single location. What a great guy! (otherwise, we would have needed to pick up the truck at Wm D Tate location and then drive to a second location to rent the trailer). Erick made it much easier. For our pick up on Thanksgiving Day, all our needed equipment was in place and the team on this particular day was efficient and eager to help, in spite of working on a cold and rainy holiday. They got our trailer's running lights working and got us on our way quickly. Avoid this location. The staff is rude and cannot fulfill your order. My step dad drove three hours to pickup a U-Haul from this location. We arrived after receiving a text that his reservation was ready to be picked up. Shortly after arrival, we were told there actually was not a truck ready for us nor would there be. The man working and checking in customers was eating potato chips and stated he was "ghosting other customers" because he could not fulfill orders. When asking to help us find an additional location for a truck he then stated, "Sorry, there's nothing I can do for you there." The employees of this location lack class, manners and simple customer service. We are appalled and frankly embarrassed these employees represent any brand. Rather than offer your apologies to my family, please train your staff to ensure others do not experience this horrendous service. Please visit the North Richland Hills location as they were more than happy to help our family after WE called and explained the situation to them. read more

Use Penske Truck rentals unless you want to wait in ridiculous lines and terrible customer service

When a customer is told "you should have" as an opening to a complaint about the fuel level when they rent a "return it full" vehicle, one can predict there will be zero empathy or objective handling of the customer's complaint. This was the case in my van rental today at the William D. Tare location in Grapevine, Tx. I trusted that thevrental tank was full..."return if with a full tank" were the final words that registered with me. We drove away and as we were entering the public roadway, a text arrived. I could see it was from uhal, but of course couldn't read it without compromising safety. As the experience turned out, is was a reminder to complete the vehicle "walk around"..which in my prior rentals gas ALWAYS been conducted WITH the agent handling the rental. Tge DISCLAIMER was to place responsibility ON ME, to ensure the gauge showed "full". My view as the Customer is that the VENDOR endure the tank is full prior to renting the vehicle. Unless of course, it turns out that they just accept the return Customersl word that the tank is full. Even if I HAD advised it wasn't, what would they, could they do at that point, except fill the tank and absorb TGE cost if U-hal's failure to verify on return by the previous renterunless the business policy is DESIGNED to fault the customers that trust the tank was full upon rental, the "return it full" parting comment clearly indicates it IS full. It WASN'T, and for a 16 mile rental I paid (my fault for not stopping at 1 1/2 gallons (generously 16 miles worth of gas). So the Customer pats (literally) fir U-haul's failure to verify a full tank? This is NOT Customer Service when you alienate a Customer by placing responsibility that should be the VENDOR'S. Huge disappointment! read more

I went to this location to purchase moving supplies. They open at 9:00 am and I was standing waiting at the door at 9:07 am. While waiting, no one working outside greeted me or told me that it would be a minute or let me go tell them to open the door. Instead, the young "boy" honked his horn at me to move because I was standing in the way of him pulling the truck in which was right in front of the customer entrance. Needless to say, I left. One thing I will no longer tolerate is poor customer service. read more

I was moving and needed a van to take boxes over before the movers came. I performed web check in and was a few minutes late due to my ride. They rented the van I reserved and all they had was a van that had to come back the next day for an oil change. This is the second time the have rented the truck I reserved out from under me. So I optioned to come back the next day. I got there and there was no van because it was not returned. They were short staffed and the guy in charge was yelling at customers slamming doors and shouting that he was going to quit because he did not make enough money. Two and a half hours later the van was not returned and I called my ride to come and get me. They ruin my move and wasted 3-4 hours of my time. I will never do business with them again. read more

I rented an auto transport trailer for 24 hours, wasn't able to use it because of issues with the vehicle being towed. Brought the trailer back after about 3 hours and was refunded my money since i didn't get to use it! They didn't have to give me my money back but that's good customer service if i say so myself. read more

The staff here is really nice. I've rented from here three times now or so and each time I'm pretty pleased with it. They have pretty much everything you need, lots of options for storage and hauling. They don't provide any bungie cables though, but they have a dolly and padding you can ask for. I think bungie cables are a must if you have an open trailer. Just make the customer responsible for them - but it's not worth renting at all without the bungie cords. Also, not a problem with this location, but the $19.99 rental is misleading, because it's more like $60 once you add the mileage for driving within the metroplex. Maybe in New York it's worth it, but for a spread out place like DFW- it can add up real quick. read more

I want to start off by saying that the facility is nice, and that is why I am giving this place two stars, but do not expect to get what you reserved online. Twice now, we have reserved a unit online, showed up, and not gotten what we reserved! You would think that if there were no units of the size you request available that one of three things would happen: 1. You would not be able to reserve the unit; 2. you would receive a phone call informing you that the unit size you requested is not available; or 3. you would get the next unit size up at the price of the unit you reserved. Well, unfortunately none of these things will happen. In fact, you will end up arriving at UHaul storage with a truck full of stuff, go into the office to get your unit you reserved online, and be informed that said unit is not available and that you have to pay for a unit the next size up. I should say, that they will offer you one free month, but when the total cost (taking into account the free month) will be an extra few hundred dollars a year, a free month does not make up for the screw-up. Overall, I have not had a good experience with this UHaul location and would not recommend it to my friends. read more

I've used U-Haul for several moves over the years - college, right after college onto grad school(s), moving from apartment to apartment, and finally from an apartment to a home. I'm always wary of U-Haul - and any auto rental place - because I get the sense that they are hoping you turn it in late, drive over your mileage allowance, or scratch something just so they can pile on the charges. Before my move I bought about $100 worth of boxes but didn't load all of them into my car. I was so distracted I took the cheap bubble wrap but left the expensive boxes behind. I went back for them later and an employee had them set aside for me and didn't make me feel stupid for leaving them there. On a side note, while the boxes are of good cardboard quality, for about $1 more, go to Walmart and buy plastic bins. When I needed a truck for the same move, I reserved a truck online and picked it up at 7am the next morning. It was ready, full of gas with keys in it. I left my car there overnight and it was still sitting there when I got back the next day. The truck worked fine, or as well as can be expected for a truck with 199,000 miles on it. I felt really manly driving a 350 Ford with bench seats and manual roll-down windows. I had to tune into AM Country to complete the motif. Anyway, I returned it the next day at 7am and was out the door in less than :30 minutes. The bill came out to within $5 of what I was quoted when I picked it up, so no shocker add-ons. Other than getting horrendous gas mileage (60 miles, 8 gallons of gas), the U-Haul truck was OK. When moving, a quick check-in and check-out is key, so this U-Haul's sense of urgency is helpful. read more

I don't know how often we'll go here since it isn't the closest U-Haul for us but when we needed a hitch installed, this is where we were sent. Set up the order over the phone. I called the local store and was routed to the Grapevine store for the hitch install. Made an appointment and within moments had an email confirming the order and appointment. A couple minutes later the install guy calls to confirm my order and suggests a slight change since I was towing a trailer which saved me $30. Bonus! Install was quick and they texted me when it was done. I left my car there and picked it up later. Very friendly staff! Store has all the locks, towing equipment, boxes and moving goods you could need. read more

Honestly and without speaking in hyperbole, this was the flat-out worst customer experience I've ever had. The reps passed me back and forth without helping me out, but the icing on the cake was the manager and his "not my problem, buddy" attitude. They flat out refused to help me with my situation and instead tried to charge me almost $300 dollars extra. When I refused, they gave me the number to call corporate. My husband and I used U-Haul for moving all the time. A few weeks ago we rented an utility trailer for a couple of hours. We returned it the same day and was left in the same spot were we picked up. The store was closed at the moment. But they have cameras. When I checked my bank account I found two transactions for the same day, different amounts. One higher than the other one. We went to the store to do a claim and for our surprise, there was 4 costumer with the same situation. So, It wasn't a mistake. They know what they're doing. And we call that steal. Two employers tried to help us but the didn't have access to change or void the second transaction. We never received a call from the manager as they said. Never again! read more

Straight forward process. We reserved a truck online for an in-town move. The lady who helped us during pick up was very courteous and provided all the information we needed to avoid extra/unexpected charges (fill the tank up, clean the truck out, etc.). We had "checked in" online so our time in-store was less than 15 minutes. The truck we received was clean and a bit more modern than other U-Haul trucks we have gotten in the past. The store was also very clean/organized and I liked that they had moving/packing supplies on-site and in ready view. We dropped the truck off a few minutes after they closed so we were not able to turn in the truck to an actual person. However, the online/mobile drop-off was easy to follow and took less than 5 minutes to complete, and soon we were on our merry way. I'm not sure if we will ever use this U-Haul location again (our next more may not necessitate the need for a truck), but I am thankful for the no-hassle and stress-free process. read more

Be prepared to wait...I reserved my truck online for a 1 day local move well in advance (~3 weeks ahead of my move). Pick up time was listed as 9am which I showed up approx 10min early and thankfully I did that. I was 4th in line when they opened at 9am, another 8 people were already behind me. When the doors opened there was 1 employee handling rental processing, the average transaction time was 12 minutes, so it was 9:36 before I even spoke to the clerk and almost 10:00am before I was able to drive off the lot. I counted 4 other employees there but only saw 2 of them doing anything resembling work. This was a horrible lack of planning for, or consideration of, customers time. To be clear, no one showed me anything on the truck or participated in a walk around for damage, safety issues. The entire transaction time consisted of 1) Identifying who I was (reasonable) and 2) Trying to upsell me a bunch of crap I already declined when I made the reservation (mindlessly irritating). read more

Beware of gas charges! Rented a van for a few hrs tank was at 5/8th (so they say) but there are on lines on the gas gage for empty half and full. Brought it back exactly where it was when I took it and was charged extra for gas bc the guy who checked it in says it was on half a tank. When pointing out the gage marker was on the other side of half a tank the response was that's not how I see it and "I don't make the rules". read more
