This place is consistently disappointing. I have tried to get propane refilled several times and rarely has it worked out. Sometimes the person who can do propane isn't there, Today it was just "down." Meanwhile, you can ring the bell at the refill station and they don't bother to come out, you have to go inside anyway. Horrible customer service. I am 56 years old and can't remember being treated worse by any business during my lifetime. I never write reviews but felt compelled to save my fellow valley members from such unprofessional, unreasonable and downright rude people who left my pulse at about 120bpm and me shaking with the unused adrenaline still coursing through my veins... I scheduled my Trailer Hitch Installation in person and had to wait patiently while the person assisting me found the part. He explained that it would be here late on the 17th and scheduled my installation for the 18th (7:30am Dropoff). I am moving back to the valley from Maine and just sold my home so I called to add a van rental to my appointment so I could drive up and bring a load back while my hitch was being installed. I was told "all set, we will see you on the 18th". I show up to drop of my car and pick up my rental only to be told "yeah your reservation was yesterday I am all booked up today" when I responded with "what is the name of the person who scheduled my appointment?", I was told to have a nice day and asked to leave. I was calm but explained that I was angry and wanted to register a complaint and was again told to "have a nice day" In closing if you are looking to "have a nice day" and a good experience with your Trailer Hitch Installation/ truck rental, I would avoid this location and U-Haul at all costs... read more

This was my first time renting a U-Haul and the drop off at this location was absolutely horrific. The customer service was horrible, the guy said that he would proceed to charge us the full amount he can just because he wanted to and proceeded to laugh. I called and spoke with U-Haul and they said that if there's any discrepancies with my bill they would make a dispute but it defeats the fact that he was so absolutely disrespectful and unprofessional. I will never again use this U-Haul location and do not recommend anyone using it. read more

I needed a van to consolidate storage from three states and U-Haul Northampton recommended a weeklong van which gave me 750 free miles. When picked up the van had less than 5000 miles and was clean and ready to go. They let me park my dar behind the store while I was outside the stare with my rental. this was mine and my boyfriend's first time using uhaul at this location when truck was picked up the renting transaction went very quickly not much was stated at the original transaction just where to park the vehicle when returning after hours. at that point we took the key and we left we rented the truck for 10 hours returned it an hour and a half early on a Sunday. Paid with cash upfront so when Wednesday comes along and we haven't heard from them just to make sure that everything was all set. We decided to call at that point. We were informed that there was a remaining balance due $44 and some change. we were caught off guard by this so we had the charges explain to us. Long story short. things were not fully explained during the original first transaction that should have been stated in this caused a lot of conflict afterwards we contacted corporate who put in a dispute and the manager from the NorthHampton location called us very rude unprofessional. very cocky customer service from the gentleman after a couple phone calls the gentleman had agreed to get rid of some of the fees and asked us to only pay $20 and some change that was left over for a little bit of mileage that we didn't no email was sent to us in regards to how much was due after returning the vehicle. If we did not call on Wednesday, we would have not had a clue that we owed anything and it would've went to collections came into the office to pay the $20 again this guy was very rude very cocky, most of all just very, very unprofessional in front of other customers as well there are certain things that should be stated and gone over during the initial transaction, this was not done. They have cameras in there. We were trying to explain that none of this was told to us ahead of time, which should have been on top of an email not being sent for the remaining balance again, very unprofessional, and we were accused that we were lying again very unprofessional. You have cameras take a look back. You can clearly see how the transaction went and what was explained what was not constant problems with this I've never had such a rude experience in my life customer service. we were told to come in and pay the $20 and some change remaining when we got to the facility we were then told we had to pay the whole amount and that we would be reimbursed by a check via mail for the remaining money. again that should have been stated when it was told to us on the phone that all we had to pay was the $20 and some change for the extra mileage not to mention where I was told to park the truck 26 hours when pulling in there was no parking lot was packed to the entrance, and there was no room to park. just a lot of inconveniences on top of very rude customer service and I will be filing a complaint With the head office. read more

The manager for this Northampton site was very rude and didn't take customer service seriously. I've been in customer service for many many years and this was an awful experience. I got double charged and when it was brought to attention and the fact it messed up my banking he completely dismissed that fact refunded me for the screw up they made and didn't have any type of apologetic empathy what so every. Uhaul has great deals and is way cheaper than it's competitors but I will never use it again. They made a mistake and would not take responsible for it. Instead they tried to charge me an extra $300. Costumer service gaslit me and spoke with condescension. The Northampton location told me the paper contract I had been given by them was incorrect since it contradicted what they had saved in their own computer (their mistake) and refused to listen and acknowledge his mistake and make up for it. Every person I spoke to at this company told me a different contradicting thing. I will now never trust a single thing that anybody ne here says. They will likely tell you "I never said that!" And charge you a huge fee, or demand you drive your truck to some different location without notice. An absolutely despicable company. There should honestly be a class action suit for all of the people they have robbed. read more

I will only return to this place if I am desperate and it should be avoided by everyone except as a last resort. The person who was there for my pick up was horrible. He was nasty, uncooperative, offensive. He needs to find another line of work. This is the second bad experience for my family at this site. Two years ago we made a reservation for a moving van and on arrival it had been let out to someone else. First of the month moving rush and nothing else available. A horrible, horrible way to do business, but it seems if you are the only game in town you can get away with it. Try Greenfield UHaul places. U-Haul makes moving easier??? Do not believe their BS. Recently I reserved a truck and tow dolly from U-Haul. I also used U-Haul to hire moving help. The day before the move U-Haul corporate called me to change my pickup location. The woman on the phone: * confirmed a 7am pickup time * told me there was only one U-Haul in the new pickup city * promised me an email with updated info The next morning, the day of pickup, I had not received an email. I hopped on Google Maps to get the address and surprise! There are several U-Hauls listed in the new pickup city. Next I completed their online check in. My pickup time is listed as 9am instead of 7am. This is where things really get bad. I called U-Haul to correct the pickup time because the movers I hired through U-Haul were coming to my house at 9am. The customer service rep acknowledged U-Hauls error. Her attitude about the time conflict due to U-Hauls error was "your problem, not ours". She expected me to waste my time co-ordinating and rescheduling with their movers. I wasn't even sure where on the U-Haul site to get contact info for the movers. No thanks, truck cancelled. I found another truck and completed my move in spite of U-Haul wasting nearly two hours of my time on the day of my move. ***BUYER BEWARE*** If U-Haul messes things up you will waste your time fixing it and they could care less. read more

I was quoted over the phone 180 to install a trailer hitch. When I arrived, they stated the actual charge would be around 300 due to the wires they had to install. Why wasn't I aware of this charge up front? I choose uhaul because of the price. I could have gone to the dealership for only slightly more. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We had a reservation at 11:00 AM, called to let them know we would be ten minutes late, to which someone responded that it wouldn't be an issue. When we arrived there was no one there. All doors locked, lights off, no sign on the door or anything. They are supposedly open from 9-5 today and yet, no employee to be found anywhere. At least five other customers just milling about the lot, confused and trying to figure out how they're going to change moving plans this last minute (myself included). read more

Beware bait and switch tactics. I needed a cargo van for an out of town move. The day before my move they switched me to a boxy truck that is much bigger than I need or want. When I tried to switch back to the van I reserved they said vans are not available for out of town moves. Yet a month ago they let me reserve it for this purpose. Would have been useful to know that vehicle was not available. Now I am scrambling to find a van from another company. read more

Made online reservation for truck. Visited twice before move, confirming truck. On day of move, no truck--reservation changed to U-Haul 20 miles away with time altered from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. to 4 p.m.-4:30 a.m. without letting me know, despite having paid movers scheduled for 10 a.m. Had to drive to Springfield and get a truck that was way too small, causing multiple trips and increased expense (for movers and mileage charges), as well as personal difficulty and frustration. Moving is tough enough, no? Prior to moving day, U-Haul also changed the box order pickup location to one 25 miles away instead of this location, which is a mile away from my house. I had to cancel the order, and buy boxes at this location. No problem, right? Wrong. I've tried for a refund of the original order three times and still no money. Some of these problems are due to this local U-Haul, others are due to the company as a whole. But at this location, expect long waits, multiple snafus, and mediocre customer service. And it will cost more than you plan. I suggest avoiding U-Haul and contacting movers directly, or if need be, going to the Springfield U-Haul on Memorial. The workers there acknowledge that U-Haul as a company has major flaws and work diligently to help you out as best they can. At the very least, they have a sense of humor. read more

Unfortunately, I have now had three terrible experiences at this location.. The most recent being this morning when I arrived at 9 AM to drop off my car for a hitch installation. I made the appointment several weeks ago and was told it would take a few hours. When I arrived at nine, I was informed that "the hitch guy "doesn't come in until 1 PM. I have cleared my morning but had to be at work by 2:00, so after waiting in line for 15 minutes just to speak to the manager, I realized that that alone was going to take another half an hour at least. I'm going to take my business elsewhere, as this was strike three for me. read more

I was outright lied too and this company committed fraud! It started out with a call to the 800 number, arrangements were made and I was to pick up my 15' truck and dolly for 9:00am. Arrived at the store and was told there was no reservation. When I gave a reservation number the store manger laughed and said it was under a completely different name. The staff laughed and said that they don't know what the other hand is doing, double and triple book all the time with the equipment not available. The couple next to me was instructed to go to another location further away, because they too, said with laughter, where booked wrong. I moved, later in the evening, put in gas to the prescribed level, swept the truck, threw away garbage, put the key and contract in the orange box and left. The front of the garage was trashed, mop bucket and cleaner all scattered, two brooms left outside and a broken one left among garbage. I received a call in the morning that the key was not returned nor the contract and there would be charges. Called the location, Mark the manger said the key and contract were not in the box, he had to pick up at key in Springfield and there was a $10.00 charge. Furthermore, had to cancel a reservation, that would occur another charge of $60.00 because the truck was not available. Oh, when he got back from Springfield his co worker found my truck keys in the customer car area. This was a outright lie, charging false charges to my credit card is fraud. I asked of there were cameras in the door area, he did not think so "but let me check".....no it does not" I called the regional manager, Leon Lee and told him the story, he would check for footage and get back to me Monday. I checked my email and there were two reservations from the same day with two different Numbers. Do not use this location, if so,document and photograph everything. Bring a second person to witness everything. If you have a bad experience, speak up. I am filing charges if not compensated! read more

After wasting seven (yes, seven) hours of my time waiting for a van that was not available at my assigned 5pm pickup time, I was sent unceremoniously to the Stadium location and forced by a disgruntled customer service employee to "re-book" for midnight. The van, minus the boxes I had requested, was finally handed over to me at 1am. Because of all the lost hours, my move was pushed out a day and I had to keep the vehicle an extra day to get the move done because I had to work. I spent over an hour on the phone with customer service being gaslit that it was my fault (note: by being forced to "re-book", uhaul is able to claim that midnight was my original pick up time and that everything was cool. Scam-tastic). After that I was sent a pathetically rude voicemail by the NoHo manager claiming that they couldn't do anything and "that was that". All this while recovering from Covid. I was charged three times what I was supposed to be charged AND was put through the ringer. TERRIBLE customer service. RUN, folks! read more

I had a horrible experience here. I simply went in to try and return some u-haul boxes I had bought online. As I waited in line, I noticed that there was only one person at the register, there were several people in line, and the phones kept ringing; so it was definitely a busy time. When I got to the counter and explained why I was there, the employee behind the desk stated that he wasn't sure how to process a return for boxes bought online but he looked at my packing slip and then entered a few things in the computer and then told me that he couldn't process the return. I stepped aside to let other people go ahead of me and called the main uhaul number and was given an extension that the employee could dial so that the representative could explain how to process the return. Since I had already waited in line and was off to the side, when he called for the next person I went back to him and explained that I had an extension that he could call to process the return. He then said rudely "you'll have to wait." I'm a patient person, I would not have minded waiting if he had explained that he just wanted to get through the few people in line who were doing pick ups and then he'd help me. Instead he made it clear that I was annoying him by asking him to do something he didn't know how to do but something required by the national company and that my request was of no importance. I waited for two people to get done and then stood near the line again and he finally looked at the packing slip and the number again. He then says "I don't know how to do this" and then said "this is gonna take awhile, you'll have to wait" and then went on to help people who had entered the store after I had arrived. At this point I was angry and humiliated. I really felt like I was being ignored and that he had no desire to help me process the return so I just left without being helped. I understand the store was busy and again would not have minded waiting if I had been treated with the slightest kindness and respect. I would NEVER enter this location again not even to buy a $.99 box. read more

Terrible experience - I made the grave mistake of hhaving them install a electronic break for towing and they did it wrong which cost $3000 with the damage to my car and my car was in the shop for 30 days because the wiring was done so poorly it shorted out and my electrical harness melted. They wouldn't return her calls and they're not being responsive to any of our issues. For your own safety don't go there to get any work done. My next stop is the Better Business Bureau. read more

Waste of time and money. Reservation Guarantee is a load of crap. U-Haul clearly does not care about their customer base nor do they stand behind their guarantee. Made a same-day reservation for an 8' truck online for this location that stated one was available. After paying for an Uber to this location, I'm told there's no truck available. U-Haul waits to call and confirm FIVE MINUTES before my pick-up time that my reservation had been moved 20 miles south to another location. Filed a claim to recoup travel costs and for the "$50 Reservation Guarantee" considering the equipment I reserved was not available at the location and time I had chosen. Northampton U-Haul employee, customer service and traffic control manager showed no sympathy in their mistake of booking a vehicle that wasn't available and even went to the extent of blaming me for showing up early for my reservation time! No refund for travel costs. No $50 comp for unfulfilled reservation. Hey U-Haul, how about you update your locations with equipment that's actually available and give your customers a confirmation or heads up of any changes a decent time ahead of our pick-up so we can accommodate? read more

The overall experience was fine, but we weren't too happy with the fact that even though we declined the dolly and furniture pads, we discovered after we left that they were still put in the back. That may not always be a problem, but we really needed the space and we couldn't move them without cutting the zip ties and being charged for using them read more

If I could give a zero rating, I would have. I have used this uhaul consistently over the years. Reservation made month ago, today I have to drive half hour to pick up truck I didn't want instead of getting the truck I wanted here in town. They'd shifted my reserva this morning /out explanation. I met with a manager who lied that he knew nothing about it. Nada!! In person he simply repeated over and over that the truck (I'd not wanted that size) would be available in town half hour from here. Reservation made a month ago and follow up calls made.
