I'm not sure why I gave given this place a chance again... Last negative review was in regards to propane. I had scheduled and paid for my truck to be wired for a 7pin wiring adapter vs the 4pin my truck has. I get a call the day of the install, and they cancelled my install, because get this... My new 2024 truck is under warranty and they don't want to void the warranty by wiring a 7pin trailer plug. I had to line up the time to do this during the work week and they cancel on me. read more

This place is trash. Came in here with a friend and no one greeted us for almost 20 minutes. When the manager finally came out of his office, still didn't greet us. We weren't helped until about 30 minutes after arriving by a woman with pink (or orange? Don't remember exactly - I just remembered it looked awful) hair. This lady was extremely rude. She lacks even the basics of customer service and was super unfriendly. The other workers kept interrupting her, asking her how to do stuff. Why is no one properly trained here? When it was time to get our vehicle, the pink-orange haired lady didn't even tell us which vehicle was ours. She pretty much just gave us the keys and told us to leave - we had to locate the vehicle ourselves. Would not recommend coming here. I have stopped in at the U-Haul location at 3131 NE 4th twice and the first time the counter person was jaw jacking and ignored me and I walked out. The 2nd time I was totally ignored because the counter person was out back, and the front door was wide open and I could have loaded up my vehicle was all kind of parts and left the store but being honest I waited a few more minutes and left totally disgusted with the service. read more

I normally don't do reviews but compelled to let potential customers and the owner of this establishment know about the terrible customer service experienced on 8/26. I needed to refill propane and there were two staffs at the counter. One was serving another customer and another appeared to be working on the computer. I stood there in line for about 10-15 minutes and the male staff didn't even bother look my way. However, he immediately picked up a phone call to help the customer on the phone (it was a new customer since I over heard their conversations) instead of asking me what I needed. I was finally helped by the other staff and asked to wait outside by the propane station. A few minutes later, she went outside and apologized that they have an issue with their gas meter and couldn't refill my tank. U-Haul if you're reading this -how about putting up a out-of-order sign and better training of your staff to prioritize people at the store? A simple asks of what I needed would have been nice. The gas station next to it was cheaper and refill my propane in less than 10 minutes. Go else where for better service. read more

Be *very* careful with these guys. I'm currently being scammed and trying to get my claim resolved but I don't have high hopes of a resolution with the way things are going. I rented a truck on the 3rd. By the 11th I received a receipt for about $400 in damage claims to the truck. So, on the 11th I call in to speak with Zaria to enquire. She opens a claim to dispute the charges. I was supposed to hear from Jessie the manager within 72 hours. The time passes and I did not hear back. In good faith I gave it until the 20th before I call back and speak with Nancy, who tells me the claim was closed on the 13th, indicating that I did not dispute the charges as Jessie tried to call me and I did not respond. So I reviewed my call history, text messages, emails and voice mail... no word from Jessie via any contact method. Nancy opens the claim again. Jessie calls me the next day, I didn't get to the phone in time. I call back the next day and speak with Tatyana who says my claim was closed *again* and that i didnt dispute. So Jessie basically left me a voicemail and then closed my claim. Jessie did give 2 numbers in the voicemail so I tried the other phone and I seemed to get her on her personal line. We discussed the damages. Apparently there was a huge dent in the side of the door. I asked her why Zaria and Nancy read to me off of their screen about how the door doesn't close. Obviously I wasn't driving down the street with the door open with my 9 year old in the car. I was also supposed to get these pictures with the receipt. They weren't there. I called Tatyana back and asked her for a copy, to which she obliged. The pictures showed a substantial dent that looked like a second car hit the trucks' open door, or someone tried to back up the truck with the door open and hit a pole or something and hyper extended the door into the front panel and crumpled the body on front of the door. I showed my wife and kid the pictures and they agree with me. Not only was that damage not there when we rented the truck, it wasn't there when we returned it. This damage was done *after* we returned the vehicle. The pictures were also so close up that there's no license plate or fleet number indicating which truck was in the picture. For all I know, this could be a completely different truck. The things I find *highly* suspicious. - not receiving word of damages until 9 days after the truck is returned. Ideally, they should have sent me images of the damage *immediately*, if not the next day. - Jessie closed out my claim on the 13th and lied on her forms about attempting to contact me. - Zaria and Nancy telling me "door won't close" being used in the claim, but Jessie says the door *does* close. Evidence that someone, somewhere is lying about the damages or conditions of the truck - Jessie repeatedly closing my claim saying I didn't dispute damages despite calling in multiple times to dispute and discuss the claim. - The pictures of the damage. Jessie said they should have been in my receipt. They weren't. I had to ask Tatyana for them. Then they were so zoomed in that they could have been pictures of any truck in their fleet. The bottom line is, the link they send you before you get in the truck, you absolutely need to fill that out. ADDITIONALLY, you need to take a video walk around AFTER you drop it off. Do not tell them you have this footage. If they try to charge you with damages 9 days later, you'll have this as your defense. Be careful, everyone. It's tough out there! read more

staff was rude and unhelpful. I reserved a truck and appliance dolly several days in advance of my move. Got there and they handed me a regular dolly and said 'we dont have appliance dolly anymore' .. well why didn't they call or message me to let me know beforehand? I reserved a bigger dolly because I needed that one specifically to move! The lot was full of trucks but they gave me a filthy truck with concrete/cement and soil in the back of it and refused to provide a different truck, so all my belongings got dirty because they gave me a dirty truck. Gas was on empty so I had to immediately put gas as well which put my start time behind. Ohhh good old U-Haul. Same old, same old. What stood out here was the amusing confusion of the employees when we left the truck and went for a quick errand in our personal vehicle. We come back, and they ask "What's wrong?" The only response I could give was "We wanted some Thai food, and didn't want to pay per-mile by traveling in the rented U-haul!" (They only reason we got the truck before the food was because they were getting ready to close up for the evening.) But... yeah. The usual. A bit expensive, but useful for moving big items and/or when you know moving in just your car will take dozens of trips back and forth, when with a U-Haul truck you can get everything done in less than three. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. this place is almost the very definition of incompetent. I have had so many problems with this business. I can't even list it all, but the two main issues have been Pretty frustrating. I had a tow package installed on my vehicle here and let me tell you you should never go here to get your tow package installed. They messed up the wiring so my lights didn't work causing me major issues with my work. I brought it back to get it fixed. They told me it was fixed and it was not. I called again and they said I better just take it to another place where I had to pay again to have the whole thing done over again. on another occasion my drivers license is being renewed so I get a paper from the state that acts as my new license. I took a picture and have it on my phone, but they will only accept paper not the picture. I ask if I can email a pic for them to print and they say no they're not willing to do anything to help me out so I went all the way there to rent a trailer and was denied because they want paper instead of a photo of a the document. Just one thing after another with these people, whoever the manager is should be fired , because I will not be going back anymore despite the fact that this is the most conveniently located U-Haul spot in the area read more

Worst customer service ever. I had an extra $20 charge on my card and when I went to inquire the person there told it's because I did not checkin when I dropped off the track. I tried to tell him that I tried and the website kept throwing an error and aisles me to to drop off the key instead which I did. It was not my fault the website had an issue. But the person wouldn't listen and kept saying my phone was the issue. I tried to explain to him that phone has nothing to do with it if the website is showing an error. Then he tried to tell me that some third party cookies in my phone is the problem. Well, I am a software engineer and do this for a living. And it was not a cookie issue. But the guy wouldn't let me speak and got agitated. He started using expletives and asked me to leave cause I wouldn't accept his third party cookie excuse. I didn't actually know this Uhaul existed as I've always gone to the one by the Renton Airport. The truck I reserved online last week only gave me one option for a place in Renton which was his one (although I didn't realize it until I went to the wrong one first). It's well lit here, including the signs. Everything in the store is organized and the workers are very friendly! There's also a drop box if you need to return your truck after hours. You can do an online drop off where you take pictures of the gas and mileage if you have your smartphone on you. Definitely recommend the Uhaul in Renton Highlands over the one off rainier. read more

Long story short I returned my trailer just a few hours after renting it from another location and they didn't properly check it out in their system apparently, these dumb butts accused me of never returning it, it was a whole situation because of their own incompetence... and in the end they figured out it was a mistake on their end and didn't even bother to apologize. I wish I can give 0 stars. I ordered a hitch for my car on February 29,2020. I have an installation appointment for March 6, 2020. They told me and put on the system that I drop by 8.30 am and pick it up at 1 pm. It was 5 pm, no one was calling me. I called them 5 times nobody answers. I dropped by the place. They have no idea my car is there, no one knows they supposed to install a hitch. The good part: They did not even order my hitch parts, they have nothing in their store. I lost a week. I did not even go to work because I supposed to pick my car up at 1 pm. I said at least give me a discount and I will wait till Tuesday. They said no. CHECK YOUR RECIEPT!! I incorrectly got double charged for 2 days. I contacted the manager and she said she would refund me. When done, she said it would take a couple of days to show up. When it finally did, she refunded me less than what she owed me. I am now having trouble getting a hold of her again. How do you get it wrong twice in a row? I usually don't review places like this, but this deserves my feedback! In the midst of our moving madness, we found out we couldn't fit our mattress into my SUV and needed something larger to do so. We were able to book and pick up a cargo van for the entire day for a flat rate (plus mileage), which I know isn't always standard at other UHaul locations. After we returned our van, I realized I had multiple charges on my account that said I had the van for 2 days longer than I actually did and amounted to a total of nearly $100+ than what it should've been. This is usually something that would drag my review down to 1 star, but the way it was handled was impressive - especially considering the terrible reviews this place already has. I filed a report with corporate UHaul before the holidays, not expecting to hear anything for awhile. The general manager, Cheryl, called back the next day and handled it all on the spot within minutes. Definitely do not ever expect this type of service from a place like UHaul. Will come back if I ever have moving needs again!! read more

We are all dealing with COVID and the fallout from it. Keeping a customer informed of delays seems like it should be the least a business should do. I ordered a tow hitch on-line and scheduled the install. When I arrived at the store on the day of the install, they said that the tech had quit and that the tow hitch wasn't even in stock to be installed. As a customer, it would have been nice to be called a day before to let me know that the tow-hitch wasn't there so that it could be rescheduled. One would think that with unemployment so high that people would try to work harder and do better to keep their jobs, but not these people! read more

We booked a moving truck to be picked up at 9:30 am when we got there they had double booked the truck, they told us we could either take it and bring it back at 2:30pm or wait and get it at 3:00pm which was such an inconvenience and on top of that they were going to charge us a dollar more. What a bad experience because it left us no choice than to to just get the truck for morning since we had to move houses before the day ends and they told us we had no choice but to my understanding it's not our fault that they double booked the truck if there was a choice for zero stars i would choos that. read more

I tried my best to avoid going here due to the poor reviews, but after striking out at THREE other local spots (first was closed for remodel, second only rented trucks, third...don't remember the issue) I found myself at this location. While they did not have what I needed, or anything even remotely close (I did not make a reservation), and I think U-HAUL as an overall company deserves 1 star for their extremely limited availability of tow behind trailers in this area, the employees at this location literally bent over backwards to help me out and figure out a solution to the predicament I found myself in. I'm terrible with names, but three guys helped me out yesterday (08/17 4:00pm ish) and I hope their bosses take notice of the great service they provided. One was a slightly older gentleman that normally works farther up north, one was a darker skinned gentleman that was near the end of his shift, and the other was on the younger side, presumably early twenties. All three worked together to try and find the best possible solution for me. I give 1 star to the company for allowing an ongoing shortage of tow behind trailers in this area but 5 stars to these guys for going above and beyond. read more

Came by to get a 15' U-Haul on a Saturday morning. We got the last one without having a reservation! This place is surprisingly busy. Very small parking lot so beware! The staff is super friendly, helpful, and efficient. The two guys helping us were really funny and were fantastic at multi-tasking between making conversation and getting things done. Prices are reasonable - ours was like $29.95 + $1.09 (I think) per mile. To have our U-Haul from about 10am till like 4:30pm was about $70. That really isn't terribly bad. They have a bunch of different sizes of trucks/vans - all the pricing is online so check their website. I would suggest making a reservation, I feel like we just got lucky that they had one left. They also have moving boxes for sale, a bunch of different sizes and a lot of moving materials such as tape, packing stuff, dollys. Will 100% come back here if we move again - which I hope we don't, cause man that was not fun in the pouring rain haha. read more

I have been in twice now to buy boxes in preparation for a big move. Both visits were very similar: a long wait even though the store was nearly empty. There is usually one employee on register and another behind the counter checking in/out moving trucks. Each visit lasts 15 minutes: 10 waiting in line, and 5 minutes at the register while the employees find the codes for the boxes. Both visits identical. If you are in need of boxes though, medium boxes are $1.30 and large are $1.70. If you buy a big pack of them (15+ depending on size) you can get them for even cheaper. I don't know of a cheaper place to buy new boxes. And they will accept returned boxes if they are unused and you have your receipt. I called a week ago and scheduled my car to come in for a tow hitch install and wiring. Pricing was reasonable and location was good. I was quoted 3 hours for the install. Today I dropped my Acura off for the install at 9 am. The woman who accepted my keys told me when they are done the will just park it in a safe place til I return. I told her I'd be back at 230. At this time she mentioned nothing about hitch technicians or short staffing. I arrived at 245 to my car still being on the ramp and no one working on it. The same woman was in the office with 4 customers-clearly busy. I asked about the time frame to finish and she mentioned she is alone and doing all customer service AND installing my hitch?! Her hitch tech left a few weeks ago?! I would have appreciated this info earlier considering that is my only car! When confronted regarding the time frame she became very snappy and unprofessional stating due to the conversation it's going to take much longer, walking away and slamming the service door w two customers still in the lobby. Did I mention there was at least one other employee there? I thought she was alone. All I can hope at this point is that it's done right and I don't have to return! Would not suggest this uhaul for hitch installation. Would prefer someone who is an actual hitch tech and has better communication skills. read more

I can't even review on service. I didn't want to go in as I did not see anyone wearing a mask. There was a rep bringing out propane for a guest and had no mask on. Though I received no service, seeing that was enough to understand how important customers are to them. How disrespectful to the guest they were servicing. I've rented from this location 3 times, and have never had any issues or delays. This most recent rental, I noticed they had reconfiguired the store (improved) and the rental process was streamlined. I see both as improvements, which encourages me to keep using them. Not great, but quite good & improving. read more

Make sure you double check your mileage before driving off the lot. They added an extra 20 miles to our bill and were not willing to work with us or trust us when we told them the mileage was incorrect. Ended up paying $90 for what should have been $40. We made a reservation several months in advance for a 26 ft truck for 20 day rental. We arrived on the pick up day to be told that (a) Corporate Traffic said that they were not allowed to rent a 26 ft for anything more than a couple of days, (b) that they would give us a 15 ft instead (would not work for our cargo) (c) they did not even have a 26 ft on the lot that morning and (d) they would give us a $50 credit on our next rental to compensate us for their unwillingness/inability to fulfill our reservation (the "U-Haul Guarantee"). We walked out the door to see a 26 ft truck sitting there. My wife walked back in to tell the lady that there was a 26 ft truck available. As soon as my wife stepped inside, the woman (Cheryl) yelled at her (in front of 2 other customers), "What are you doing back here?! I told you that I don't have a 26 ft!" My wife then informed her that they actually had one in plain view. She then said, "That is reserved for tomorrow! You can't have it!" In the interests of finding a compromise, we offered to rent it for the day (even though our reservation should have taken precedence!). She refused to rent it to us. Her statement was "I won't rent it to you -- even for a day!" When we asked why, she said "Because I know you won't return it!" So now we had been lied to (there was a truck!) and accused of either lying or planned truck theft! Wonderful Customer Service! It only got worse from there! The lady then told us that we would have to call Corporate Traffic ourselves to work something out. She refused to have us call from the store, and told us that she "had done her part." We went home, called Corporate Traffic and reached a helpful young man who told us that "Yes, they had a 26 ft showing available", and we should go back to the same location to rent it for 20 days as planned. We turned around and drove back to the store -- only to find that she had already rented the truck out to a walk-in! When I complained further, she called someone (Corporate Traffic ??) and put me on the phone with somebody who told me the same story -- no truck, 15 ft available, $50 guarantee. I asked her name and said, "because this WILL be elevated." At this point the lady on the phone said, "Since you said that, I can no longer talk to you due to liability reasons!" and hung up on me! We went home, called Corporate Traffic and related to our contact there what had just happened. HE took the initiative to try and fix our problems. He pulled in the Corporate Traffic Manager who had a solution within 5 minutes. He sent us to a competing location in South Seattle and gave us a time when our truck would be available. We lost 6 hours and the help of our set-up crew, but we had a nicer 26 ft truck for our original rental period of 20 days (But Cheryl had said Corporate Traffic refused to let her do that!). The moral of this story is that the problems do not seem to be at U-Haul in general (folks in South Seattle were excellent!), but Renton Highlands location is horrible. It was the worst customer service experience of my life! We walked out feeling thoroughly ABUSED! I was appalled to realize that the lady at the desk was the General Manager! With her total lack of concern for customers and complete lack of customer service skills, this location is doomed to failure. Go anywhere else you can! BTW, we were repeat customers of 6 years renting 26 ft trucks for this same event with no problems. We will never use this location again!!!! read more

WORST experience, don't even try it out just because it's location is convenient. The worst customer service anyone could possible have and have been spoken to in the worst way by an employee, I honestly thought he was on medication for speaking to me like that. The two workers that helped me did not care, looked very annoyed, and loved rolling their eyes while goofing off. I saw no respect given to customers that were in front of me to. If you have to use this place, be very wary and monitor your credit card billing statement. I ordered 3 U-Boxes for a move to Austin, TX and they ended up where they needed to go fine. It was then in July and August I noticed they started billing me a recurring bill of ~$75, and I was confused because I was not storing anything with them. I made several calls and left messages, but they never responded back. I even received an email from them saying my name was William, and that they would be charging me further. Who the hell is William? Get your shit together! Eventually I was able to speak to someone in customer service who did her job well and after further insistence with her, she was able to connect me to the U-HAUL regional manager. He told me that after he looked into it, he had no idea why they were charging me and that he would refund me back. tl;dr U-Boxes were the cheapest option out there for a move, but be prepared for issues afterwards if you use this location. read more

Watch your credit card statement! After returning equipment within 24hours they proceeded to charge additional fees for what they claimed to be additional days of not returning. When instead the check in was not properly processed by the staff. I called and emailed the branch and the manager promised a refund. A week goes by and no refund. WORST SERVICE! my family and I have always heard of UHAUL, but never been. But we're moving this weekend and thought "we'll go to uhaul". I was a pretty sunny day so we're pretty happy but once we opened the door to go in, we hear the employee yell "WE'RE CLOSED!" and ran over to the door and again yelled "WE'RE CLOSED!" He held the door and tried to close it while my 14 month old daughter ran inside. Yes. We didn't look at your hours but we figure you were open since there were people outside and inside your store. I mean. he could have just said nicely "sorry sir, we're closed at 7." He seemed so unprofessional and called me "HOMIE". He said his name was "Nick" when we asked. He looked like he wanted to fight me with the way his tone of voice was. I thought UHAUL was supposed to be a big business and cared about customer service. But I guess I was wrong. read more

I wish there was a marking for negative stars. I have run into nothing but problems from every single person I talk to at this office. I tried to talk to the regional office in Seattle and every single person in that office only made more problems. I next tried the corporate offices and nobody would help me. All I got were, " Oh, I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do". I am a patient person and I understand that problems happen but literally NOTHING has gone correctly. I am now going to have to drive 2 hours round-trip to pick up my Uboxes because they couldn't enter in the correct zip code for delivery. Unbelievable! To begin, I'm Latino and my girlfriend is Korean, so there were no qualms about race when dealing with a particular U-Haul employee. I don't have his name, but an older bald gentleman (of India descent) was trying to rush me and my girlfriend out of the door because he had to pick up his wife. When I called earlier, he said picking up the truck by 6:45pm would not be a problem. We arrived at the U-Haul location at exactly 6:45pm. Then, when it came to the pricing breakdown, he could not give me specifics as to why the one-day rental fee came to $115. The truck was $19.95 per day. I got the $14.00 insurance, 25 miles @ .79 per mile = $19.75, small roller cart $7.00, 12 furniture covers $10.00 and some bubble wrap $15.00. Taxes should have been around $9.00. So in total, I thought I would be charged about $93.00. I still have no idea where $115.00 came from. He couldn't explain it either and rushed us out the door so he could pick up his wife. My 7-month pregnant girlfriend was really pissed off and he was arguing back to her in an extremely rude manner, so she stormed out the door because of the frustration with the horrible customer service and I was really mad when that happened. I needed the truck, so I accepted the charges since he kept saying he needed to get his wife and we could either "take it or leave it, but I need to go now for my wife." The next day, I came back and asked the lady who was working there at the time if I could keep the truck one more day and she said that would be fine and that I would only need to pay another $19.95 plus $.79 for each mile over 25 miles. When I returned the truck the next day, I had to pay another $73.00. She never told me the furniture covers and rolling cart were per charged per diem. On top of that, they charged me for a dolly that I never asked for, but was already in the truck when I arrived at my place where I was moving from. Needless to say, this was an extremely upsetting experience and negligent at best. I understand I need to pay for what I get, but the lack of information I was given and the horrible customer service has led me to this lengthy feedback.
