Completely unreliable with 0 customer service. I stopped in a few weeks before the holidays to set up an appointment for front brake pad and rotor replacement. I scheduled the appointment for the day after Christmas. I told them I would drop the vehicle off on the 26th because I would be out of town and that I would return to pick it up on Jan 2nd. I confirmed that this was doable and that they would be open for the drop off and pick up. I get a call at 8am on the 26th asking if I was still bringing the vehicle in. I told them I would be dropping it off later in the morning and that we had discussed I would pick it up a week later. I brushed it as a misunderstanding, it happens. I arrive the morning of the 2nd to pick up the vehicle and the shop is closed. I peek in the windows, and someone spots me and comes out to talk. I am told that the work was never done and that I would need to reschedule. Brake pads and rotors for a single axle are a very straightforward job, and they could not even get that done over a 3.5 day period. Not even a phone call to tell me what the situation was. There are enough repair place in Maple Valley/Covington that you can avoid this one. read more

This is hands down the best auto shop I've ever taken a vehicle to. I'm a real customer, not a bot--just genuinely impressed. I had an 8:00 AM appointment for A/C service and needed the car back as early as possible. They had it done well before lunch. Even though I came in for A/C, they did a full diagnostic and pointed out a few things to keep an eye on--but didn't try to upsell me at all, which I really appreciated. The guy at the front desk (I think his name was Bobby) was great--super friendly and easy to work with, which made the whole experience even better. They promised another call within 30 minutes. Never happened. By 2:00 PM, my brother-in-law had to drive there in person just to get an answer. They told him it would be ready by 4:30 PM (they close at 5:00). We arrived at 4:45 PM -- only to be told it wasn't ready and we'd have to return the next day. I called at 12 pm and was told a part had been broken and I'd need to pay to fix it. Confused, I went in person--turns out nothing was broken. The part actually broke. They asked me to authorize an extra $250 and promised it would be done the next day. Day 2: Still not fixed. No call. When I finally reached someone, they admitted they didn't even have the part and would need to keep my truck until Monday. Throughout this ordeal, the manager never clearly explained what was wrong. Worse, he spoke to me condescendingly--like I was clueless just because I'm a woman with a truck. I had to get my brother involved, and only then did they bother to explain the situation. 5 days for a transmission flush is unacceptable. Being treated dismissively because of my gender is even worse. Next time I needed help, they did trouble-shooting to find out why my car would not start, did lots of diagnosis, found the problem, and replaced the fuel pump on-time and on-budget. Over the years I've avoided going to the mechanic at all costs. I've always felt ripped off and/or spoken to like a child. But awhile back my fancy little Buick, with its fancy instrumentation decided to warn me something was wrong with my engine. Turning the car off and back on again did not make it go away either. ;) I went to an auto parts store and hooked up the code reader and was prepared to YouTube how to fix the issue. But even I had to admit it was something out of my league. I called around and got info from a few local shops, read their reviews, and checked the community pages for feedback. Do not come here, unless you want to get terrible work done on your car and throw your money away. Firstly, when I went to get an oil change, they told me I needed a new battery for my car. I was very shocked seeing as how I had just gotten a new battery from Les Schwab last year and I don't see how they could possibly tell me it had gone bad already. I immediately went over to Les Schwab to have them do a test to see how my battery was doing and they said it was running really good and Automotive Experts must have been using a faulty battery tester. Secondly, I took my car to get a full point inspection and they told me that my oil fluid levels were topped off too high and wherever I had gotten my oil change had not changed out my oil filter because it was leaking and I needed a new one. They said that if my oil was too full, it could've overflowed all over everything else and caused more problems. Luckily, they are fixing it for me, but at a cost because of the unprofessionalism and lack of knowledge of what they are doing at Automotive Experts! read more

If I could give less than 1 star, more like zero stars I would. This place is THE WORST and rips people off. We took a vehicle in with an outline of what pre-work and troubleshooting my husband did prior to having our vehicle towed there. Upon their troubleshooting, they found almost the exact problems but charged us for 2 hours of troubleshooting and a new battery without our consent to replace the battery (over 300.00) so close to 800 for troubleshooting and labor. The labor cost is 140.00 and told us we gave consent when we dropped off the car even though the calls and emails they sent us said they need consent to do any work. I honestly think since they are right as come into Maple Valley and next to a Shucks O Reillys they can overcharge because many in our area have money. But what a joke. We had a 2nd and 3rd opinion from mechanics that were referred to us and all three can't understand why we were given the quote we were. The quote for all the work not just the battery work was over 2200 and the other 2 gave quotes for half the cost and they both found double charges in our quote- where work that is only done once was charged twice. One has over 24 yrs of experience and had seen nothing like that where they are price gouging. We chose here because we have AAA that would only tow within a 5-mile radius and they offer a AAA 10% discount but not of that is worth the terrible customer service, bad attitude, very dismissive, overpriced quote, and minimal work for an exorbitant price. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY- they took advantage of us thinking we wouldn't have a way to move our car from their shop and would just pay. Please let's get them out of Maple Valley. They are family owned but sure don't act like it or seem to care about return customers. read more

I was looking for a new radiator, per recommendation of another shop, for a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country which I had just inherited from my mother. Rich upsold me on a water pump. I got both for a little over $800. A week later the vehicle was toast with blown head gaskets. I wish I had paid for a full diagnostics.... I sold it as a mechanics special for $1000 via CL. Sad, because it was a nice car. My brother brought in the family Dodge Intrepid, a car my uncle gave him, who had preformed all the routine maintance on this car. A sweet little car with 160k on the odometer. It was overheating, the first thing Automotive Experts does is recomend a coolant system flush. That isn't cheap and it still has problems. He takes it back and this time they put on a new hose clamp and its $75. I remember seeing this receipt because we all talked about how ludacris it was. His car is still overheating and leaking fluid. So basically at this point my brothers ready to sell it for junk. My Uncle can't believe it, so we tow it up to Bremerton to his mechanic who puts in a new $10 thermostat. Now the car runs like a dream. I call Rich to tell them they messed up, and apparently my mom emails them. Rich tells me they put in a premium thermostat. My brother tells me thermostat never came up in any conversation. Rich tells me it was like sludge in there when they flushed it, 3-4 times. My Uncle says he laughed at that one. I absolutely believe my Uncle, that he took care of that car. He loved it, his father was the original owner. The unfortunate bit is my brother threw away his original copies of the reciepts, irresponsibly. And when I went in for a new copy. Rich gave me one saying they put in a premium thermostat and the new reciept doesn't list the hose clamp, completely contradicting all our accusations. At the very least these folks are inept, at worst con-men, but the fact is Rich is a liar. This shop will put $ over your best interests. Beware ! read more

Had free brake inspection and printed estimate at Maple Valley Les Schwab back in January on 2008 RAV4 (130K+ miles). Front brakes including Brake Rotors and remanufactured Raybestos calipers were quoted as $493. Les Schwab said struts were likely due for replacement and included struts estimate. Shockingly the grand total including tax came to $1,033.48. Three months later (researched) visited Automative Experts of MV. They provide printed estimates to compare Les Schwab. Next day made appointment. Complete brake job done in a little over an hour. Grand total including tax came to $344.04. That's nearly a $700 savings! Relying on Les Schwab's estimate I put off brake work until pads were down 1 or 2 mm. Also learned through the owner that my original calipers were better than any remanufactured calipers. No struts or caliper replacements. No upselling. Just keeping me safe on the road and saving a ton of money. They provide 24 month warranty on all repairs. Owner is on site, friendly professional staff, clean waiting area, food within walking distance and plenty of parking. Apparently they'll give a ride too. So far brakes are working fine. Today, April 19th, is Good Friday and yes it is a good Friday! I will definitely be coming back for future repair work. read more

Bought my 2006 suburban in for front end work. Fair price estimate, good reviews on this shop. Drop keys off Monday night for Tuesday service as the shop scheduled. I agreed they could have the truck all day. They called at 2 pm saying the mechanic had broken a part removing it that was not worn out. Said they would replace it at no cost to me but the new part not coming until 4 PM and if they could keep the truck it would be repaired the next morning. Said ok and canceled a fishing outing scheduled for the next day. Next morning see the truck outside the shop at 10 am. Think it is fixed, told no they are just about to bring it in and it should not be to long. 1:10 pm spouse drops me off at the shop as she needs her car for a Dr. appointment, told it would be another 20-25 minutes. 45 minutes later told it would be another 15 minutes. Tell shop manager I am not happy as he promised me truck would be done "in th morning". It is now 2:15 pm. He said and I quote "if you don't like it feel free not to come back". NEVER HAVE I BEEN TOLD BY ANY MECHANIC OR AUTO SHOP MY BUSINESS WAS NOT WANTED!!!! 2:25 pm truck is done. $733 bill, not a small job but a fair price. Bill shows 3 hours of labor, the truck has been there a total of 15+ hours the shop was opened including the hour+ plus I sat and waited for it. I understand things break. I understand things come up. But to fail to meet a deadline the shop set, not call me and then tell me when I show up and complain about it 'feel free not to come back' is way out of line. Shops are fat right now. Customer service is scarce. This shop owner showed his true colors towards new customers. They got the job done in a timely manner, but padded the bill with mark-ups on the parts. $13.95 for antifreeze, $39.95 for a water pipe O ring., and new wiper blades for $15.95. Really? You could go next door to O'Reilly's and buy the same things for half of that price. That's probably where they buy the parts anyway! I though Rich was friendly enough, and I think they do good work. My wife and I spent $1800 in a week on our two vehicles with no issues. My issue is simply what seems like a little price gouging. Otherwise they are OK. read more

They gave me an estimate, told me exactly what was going to be done, kept me informed and it was done on time! They gave me a discount for having AAA as well. They fixed something I couldn't get fixed properly at Doxon Toyota. They also repaired my door lock that was broken. Lexus quoted me $1,000 & Doxon Toyota quoted me $800. We took it into Automotive Experts for their diagnosis on this very old, tired, car. Later that day we went to pick up the car and it was bad news... The car was on its way out. This was hard news for this elderly woman. Automotive Experts did not charge her anything for the diagnosis! They were so kind-hearted, and understand how it impacted the woman, they did her diagnosis free of charge. Miss the former front desk person. Today I went in to ask if they could replace my headlamp. The young man told me that I had the wrong bulb. That could be true. When I explained that they had told me that was the one at the parts store, he said well they can fix it then and walked off. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I took my car there for a simple repair. It was not fixed properly and I had to take it back two more times. Not only did they charge me twice for the same repair, they "forgot" to change my oil as I had asked. The car was not ready when promised and I had to keep going back to pick it up. Even worse, when driving my car home it was running really poorly and seemed to have developed new problems while it was in their shop. I ended up taking it to a different mechanic who discovered one of my spark plugs had been completely unscrewed while it was at Automotive Experts. The way the coil fits over the spark plug there is no way this could have happened on its own. My neighbor had her oil changed there and they didn't put the cap back on so oil sprayed all over her engine. Low quality work overall. read more

HORRIBLE....Rich acts as he knows whats going on yet when confronted about service and inquiring on what was actually done, Rich all the sudden knows nothing about cars and can't help because he sent all his mechanics home early.Rich couldnt even tell me the type of oil that was put into my car when it was there for a new oil pan, dipstick and oil leak. After returning home I opened up the hood and noticed oil squirting out of the sensor. I paid over $500.00 and drive back to the shop to show him what was going on. He was not even going to get up to look at my car because he says he only does the front desk. I couldnt believe this was happening, he was so rude, completly lied about other services was charged for that were not done and had no problem letting me know there was nothing he could do to help because he knew nothing about cars only how to run the front desk. I came back later to talk to a mechanic and went into the garage where my car was, Rich yells you can't go back there. I continued back to where my car was saying how else am I going to show you what was and wasn't done according to the bill I was charged? He yelled O.K. just dont fall. PLEASE...the mechanic did agree with me that oil was pouring out of the sensor but to find an oil leak he says takes alot of tests that I didn't ask for. Wow..really i checked off the box when I dropped the key off to check for oil leaks. I'm a 47 year old female and it doesn't take a genius to figure out the problem when it's so obviously visible under the hood. I also had my headlights adjusted. They were off so bad I could barely see, when I said this to the mechanic he replied yeah there too high huh? Then told me it's hard to ajust them in the day time. WOW.... That's $68.00 for nothing, not to mention the price Rich charger me for dash lights which he never ordered and taking apart the dash and putting it back together which was never done. I gave him a bulb so he'd know the one I needed and when I asked for the bulbs he claimed he order that did not work he gave me back the burnt out one I gave him the day before. Another bogus charge. BEWARE COMPLETE CON-ARTIST'S. After talking to the mechanic I walked next door to Oriellys and bought a $7.00 oil sensor, when I came back my car was parked in front and the keys were inside. The last thing I wanted to do was go back inside to be insulted on my intelligence by Rich who was acting so ignorant when it came to working on cars. When I walked in he asked if I got the part, thinking he was going to try to make some of this right I said yes, are you going to put it in for me? Rich says yes, but I'm going to have to charge you. After paying them over $500 with half being bogus charges and lies I say I'm going to report them to the better business beauro. Rich just laughed at me saying, "go ahead, I don't care, we're not a member anyways." They had over 25 inquired the previous month and a crazy story of a customer who came to pick up his car and Rich left it running in the back with all the Windows down in the rain and ruined the battery. Checking now, the complaint is gone and it says that they are no longer in business. Another lie for Expert Automotive in Maple Valley. ..That's the only thing this business is good for..LIES, CHARGING FOR BOGUS SERVICES NOT DONE, MORE LIES AND RUDE FRONT DESK SERVICE.
