I was told to go to this location because my truck was unavailable in Huntington Beach. They open at 8 am and I arrived around 7:50am. My buddy and I waited outside for someone to open the doors. 8 Am rolled around and the doors were still locked and the lights were still off.. I was wondering if anyone was coming.. a car then pulls up around 8:05 and he gets out and I told him we're waiting for them to open. Sure enough, it was the employee opening the door. He was friendly but by this time there were a few people waiting. I already made a reservation so he was able to pull up my information. I then used a QR code to upload a pic of my driver's license. He gave me the keys and then walked me to the back. He had to drive it out of the back lot because it was tightly fit into a spot in the back. That was nice because I know I wouldn't have been able to get out. It was a good experience and he was helpful but a little late. read more

The only reason I didn't give this location a one-star rating is because I've had generally good experiences here over the past 30 years. Tonight, however, was incredibly frustrating. At two minutes before closing, I received a call informing me that the trailer I had reserved was in repair and unavailable. I called back, waited on hold for nearly 30 minutes, and was then told the nearest available trailer wasn't six miles away as originally stated, but actually 14 miles away, one way. What I find most frustrating is that no effort was made to make things right. If the trailer was only a few miles away, why not transport it to the location where I had reserved it? Instead, I was expected to absorb the extra time, fuel, and inconvenience caused by a problem that wasn't mine. It sends the message that the company's time matters, but the customer's does not. Good customer service would have been finding a way to minimize the inconvenience to the customer, not shifting it to them minutes before closing. Very disappointing. read more

This location will not rent to you unless you have a smart phone. There was no mention of the requirement in the on-line reservation process. In fact, according to the U-Haul website, a smart phone is only required if you choose U-Haul Truck Share 24/7, which I did not; I chose counter pick-up. I do not have a smart phone, but staff was entirely unsympathetic, discourteous even, and flatly refused to rent to me without one. I doubt staff is unaware of company policy. I suspect they insist on a smart phone, even if you choose counter pick-up, because it reduces their workload. Customer has to drive the rental from the tightly packed vehicle storage area, photograph all sides of the vehicle to document its pre-rental condition, and photograph the mileage--all of which staff would have to do for a counter pick-up. Perhaps another location would provide more helpful service, though I notice other area locations are also poorly reviewd. Maybe another company would be a better bet. read more

Was able to move for 80 bucks. Line was a bit long to sign in, but the service was great. The only downside is that there is virtually no parking here. Had to find space in the Wendy's. Fortunately, it was a short walk. For the price and efficiency, U-Haul's hard to beat. I'd use their services again. read more

Let me start from the end: I took the truck and drove only 6 miles. When I came to return it, they said I need to fill up gas or I will have to pay $10. The needle was just above the line when I took it, I even sent them a picture. I ended up filling it up more than what I took out with. Well the truck was on EMPTRY!!! WTH!!! It's customary to pick up a vehicle and have a full tank of gas!!! Specially a bigger truck! Who does this?? This is a very small location and there is very little parking or options available. My Aunt and I came to get a trailer to pull some stuff as we drove from California to Oklahoma. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the trailers they had could not be pulled by a Sedan and it takes weeks in advance for them to install a hitch on the back. I ended up with a ten footer which was probably the best route. I drove that while she drove my car. The truck they initially provided had all sorts of lights come on (check engine, low tire pressure, etc) and they immediately swapped me for a better one with a back-up camera (I highly recommend requesting this) and the gave me a lock so I wouldn't have to buy one. read more

Top notch service. Fast. Efficient. Absolutely amazing. Almost like a military operation of a fighter jet ground crew getting the pilot into their plane to take off on an emergency. One clerk, Jose, was typing up an order while barked out the truck ID to his fellow worker who grabbed the key and took off to get the truck ready for take off. As I rounded the counter, Jose pivoted and held open the door to the garage then he started running after me to the truck for last minute mirrors adjustments and a quick equipment check. Juan + Jocelyn were fabulous with boxes and packing tape. We were able to snag some quick items to help with a a move from our last place due to a pipe burst. They were able to get us set up with a truck and on our way. We were even able to return it after hours. The whole process was super easy, and we were out the door for under a couple hundred bucks including moving blankets, TV, glass pack boxes and more. They're conveniently located off the freeway on El Camino Real in between Red Hill and Newport by Tustin High School. What a joke! So heads up if you rent online pay ahead out all of your info in you still have to wait in mine for my case 20 minutes. Almost every customer who was returning a vehicle was being hassled by manager and he doesn't seem to care about job or customers. After being in line for about 20 minutes I met a good employee who told me if you go back into site you can do online check in and skip mine which is seperare from buying and reserving online. So I get out of line for that and waiting for it and he says oh will when it's done checking in you still have to go back to the counter to tell them it's checked in lol. Horrific! read more

This U-Haul location is extremely bad for two reasons. 1. The parking lot is dysfunctional. You cannot get in and out without massive delays due to the way the lot is designed. So not try to park inside this U-Haul's lot. Otherwise you will lose 30min just trying to wait for the entrance/exit blockage to clear up. 2. A female service staff (I single her out to be fair to other employees at this location because my interaction was only with her) went out of her way to be mean and unhelpful. This isn't passive rudeness or poor service attitude resulting from inadequate training---this is meanness, going out of her way to hurt customers. A returned U-Haul was blocking the entire lot creating traffic jam for customers trying to leave the lot and for customers coming into the lot. When I asked her whether she could first move the blocking U-Haul to help with customers exit. She rudely said we will all just have to wait for her to inspect the truck, clean it and service it. When I complained further about being trapped in the parking lot with others and being short on time, she basically upped her rudeness in telling me that I will just need to wait and proceeded to do her work even more slowly. read more

I called the Tustin office this morning to get an estimate on a trailer hitch install. Apparently the office was closed and my call was forwarded to headquarters. No one told me this. They proceeded to get the make, model and year of my vehicle, check that the parts were in stock, give me a quote and make an appointment for 11am that morning. After I get off the phone I get a confirmation email as well. Perfect... I get there and absolutely no one is expecting me. I'm told the parts are actually not in stock. This is also when I'm told that I didn't speak with someone at their office. Again - how is anyone supposed to know their call is forwarding somewhere else? No apologies. No offer of a discount. They did however over to do the hitch install and then have me come back a few days later so they could install the wiring they didn't have in stock. We had to pay for over double that we would have had to pay in mileage and the gas was more because that truck you gave us was over the size we needed because you refused to give us the size we needed saying, "they were all being rented out later in the day". Well I call bullshit I was there first. Give that extra large gas guzzler to the next person who doesn't care BECAUSE I CARED! Then you stated you'd make it up to me by giving me a discount... I rented a vehicle on Sunday 10/09/2022 for one day, I did return it on the same day before 05:00pm then Friday 10/14/2022 I went to the location asking why I'm getting charged a lot, and the on U-Haul app shows that the vehicle is not returned yet. They check and said oh it's returned and we will refund you, but you need to come tomorrow to see the manager cause we can't process the refund. Next day I came they gave me the invoice and charged me only for one day but they charged me for a lot of miles. The manager was sooo rude as he deal with the situation in very very rood way I believe they did not return the vehicle on the system cause they rented it to other customer out of U-Haul and charged me for the miles. If you check the receipt it show returned after 5 days but I charged only for one day and high mileage. Hope the corporate can open the videos and hear the conversation I had with him. Truck and equipment was all in good working order and clean, and staff were knowledgeable and courteous. But wait times to pick up truck at 9 am on a Sunday was too long. Store was very understaffed. Took 45 minute wait in line with 8 people ahead of me and 6 behind me at 9 am in the morning on a Sunday. This disrupted my moving time, and I could hear people making calls about this delay of getting a truck disrupting their moving plans. Please hire more people, so store can handle the volume of customers on the weekends. read more

Stay away from this place OR get everything in writing. First off they need to take a class in customer service because their passive aggressive attitudes and lack of giving a fuck about the customer is palpable. I made a reservation yesterday with a young girl who literally called the manager to ask him some questions about the different hitch options, she scheduled me for today and said see you tomorrow! Cool, I thought. This'll be seamless. I come in 30 minutes early today and tell them I have an appointment and they're confused. They have no clue about any appointments. I told them I made it yesterday and called out the manager who she talked to (she used his name and called him the GM). He said "she didn't make the reservation because we don't have that style (the cheaper, mind you) hitch in stock." Uh, she literally showed it to me yesterday. She scheduled me and told me everything was good to go. I left a phone number but not an email which I realized was my mistake. I should've had her send a confirmation. Then he proceeds to passive aggressively tell me that she told me it wasn't scheduled. Were you there? No. So I told him to check his cameras because she most certainly did. So now I'm paying more money because they can't be bothered to stick to their principles, if they have any. Which they don't. This place is shady and you should stay away or protect yourself by documenting and recording everything. The only reason I'm still getting service done here is because I don't have time to reschedule or go elsewhere. I've never written a scathing review because I understand people are human and make mistakes, but that isn't the case with this place. If U-Haul gave a shit about customers they'd seriously need to reconsider retraining these people or getting rid of them and starting over. Learn a lesson from my plight and stay away! read more

My experience renting a 26' truck was bad. I reserved a 26' truck a week before I needed it and the reservation was confirmed. When I went to pickup they did not have it. They offered me a 20' truck which was much smaller for my job. I rented an additional truck which cost me much more than I had planned. I lost a couple of hours just working out logistics with the Uhaul agent. I also ended with additional labor needed to drive a truck etc. The customer service agent did not offer me any discount though it was their fault. read more
