I would like to take a second to update my review due to the prompt and immediate attention towards my unfair charge given. I was contacted by uber support regarding my issue on my Sunday drive request from the bad driver I never received. In addition to refund, he went into detail of my issue, so it didn't seem like a auto message or robot response. I do understand that all bad drivers and experiences do not represent uber the company as a whole. And the prompt attention I was given regarding my email complaint justified that. Thank you uber for addressing the issue. I have always loved uber versus Lyft or taking a taxi. Today was my first bad experience with uber. I request a pick up and it said he was 4 minutes away. I waited 10 minutes which I wasn't mad about, it's la it can happen. Then I see he was very close via the app. He calls me and tried to say he was there. I was at the pick up spot located at the hotel. I told him ok I'm here waiting for you. He said he only spoke Chinese and didn't understand me. Well Buddy that's not my damn problem. If you cannot communicate with someone why would you call me? And you should have some type of translation app then if you cannot speak English. So me being the nice person I am, I text him saying I'm here at the valet where he was suppose to come get me. I called him after a minute hoping maybe he could read English (yeah I know that was stupid of me) and understood where to get me. He said Gain " I don't know I'm sorry I speak Chinese!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ UBER, you should not have a person who cannot speak English in America driving for you. How am I suppose to communicate with the driver? I am not going to go to Mexico and drive s taxi and expect the Mexican natives to understand the fact that I can't speak their language. My account was hacked on 10/22/18 and have reached out to their company 5 times after having my card used for fraudulent charges. Their company has done NOTHING (including never reaching out to me) to secure my account. I guess they are not dedicated to correcting their image or their customers even with the new CEO. I havebeen taking Uber for YEARS now. Uber just charged me $20 for a ride that normally cost $6-7 (less than 2 miles) and there was no surcharge!! Absolutely no reason for this rediculous amount! Do you people have amnesia or work for the cab companies. UBER is amazing! I spent years paying 2.5 times what an uber X costs to have rude ignorant cab drivers that don't speak English, try and steal my money by not having change and when they decide I"M being rude about the route kicking me out in the middle of a bad neighbourhood. Then UBER came along YIPPIE suck it cab drivers. Every time I complain to customer service they reimburse me immediately and I got a credit for my complain about the notorious cancelling. In my opinion, Uber does not live up to the ethical standards they claim to have and does not respect their customers. I will avoid Uber to the best of my ability going forward and have moved to using Lyft which is much better. Here's my experience: I left very nice expensive speakers on the back seat of his Uber and sent an email to Uber later that day which said I should contact the driver. I called the driver the next day and he said he'd drop the speakers off in the parking lot. I thought he meant the parking lot in front of my house where he picked me up originally but he meant a parking lot next to Chase bank? How was I supposed to assume this parking lot? I waited in my parking lot and he never showed. I had things to do so I figured it could wait and called back the next morning. We then agreed to meet at the parking lot next to Chase at 11 and that I'd call him when I'm over there. I went to the parking lot and he wasn't there so I called several times from 11-1120. He finally picked up and told me he was busy. I called back at about 1215 and he said he was in the parking lot so I told him I'd be there in 5 min. I showed up and he wasn't there so I called several times over the next 10 minutes and he never answered. Thus, I reported this incident to Uber corporate and Uber corporate says he told them he doesn't have any speakers. Uber told me that they would help with police inquiries. I told Uber corporate to let him know that I would file a police report if he didn't return my speakers in 24 hours. I called the driver the next morning and he changed his story on me and told me what he was trying to tell me is that he didn't find any speakers even though he said he had them and could drop them off? I asked why did he tell me he had them and he said something like "Why would I want your speakers?" Therefore, I filed a police report that night and the police called him through Uber a couple times and he hung up on the police twice. This happened a few months ago and Uber has not offered anything to attempt to make things right after I contacted them several times. read more

I recently used Uber to get to work. When I requested the car Surge pricing was not in effect. Once the driver was en route Surge Pricing was put in place. My driver "Cancelled" the trip. When I re-requested (now with Surge pricing), the same driver showed up. Really, really, REALLY not cool. If a driver "cancels" a trip they should be forced to wait a period of time (30 minutes?) prior to going back on duty. Rate: 1 Star UPDATE: I sent Uber an email and they credited me the Surge fee. I worked for them for few months and they terminated me because of my rating was low I had 84 percent and I worked at night because I had so many things to do on day time. The road was dark couldn't see the number on the houses and also the street was not visible at night. They didn't pay good. I have to drive for 15 to 20 mins and I will only get $3 plus ain't worth it. The customers wanted us to be there but they didn't know the hardship we have to deal with on the road at night time especially on day it's the traffic that we will be dealing with, The gas is expensive for $20 I put to my car I will only make $45 so I made only $15 that's for driving more than an hour that's excluding the maintenance of our car. The company is making from us and they don't care about us. They will give boost hours on other area that is far away from where we live but I. Our area is regular Tate so it's unfair to the driver. Uber is awesome! It's my first time trying Uber and I loved it! The driver - GREGOR is really friendly. He came less than 3 minutes but on my app it says he'll be here in 7. The car was clean and that is a big +++ for me! I didn't know where to get their promo codes but when I was telling him that this was my first time, he reached his small notebook and gave me the code for my my $50 free credit. I love UBER. They are cheaper than cabs. I will definitely call them again next time! If it's your first time trying uber, tell them that it's your first time and they'll give you a code. read more

I'm a huge, HUGE fan of UberX and Uber, and I'm so glad that they've made their way to the LA area. So I love any service that lets me book in without having to wait on hold or actually speak to another human. Uber's app lets me see just how close a car is, and book my ride painlessly. I've found that - at least in the Long Beach area - the arrival estimates are overstated and the driver is usually arrives sooner than promised, which is great! I'm also known to watch the little car drive over the map so I know exactly when to start standing curbside... Anyway, every driver I've had thus far in my 5-6 rides has been super friendly, NORMAL, and conscientious. It feels really safe as well. My only gripe is that they never seem to know where they are going, so you have to be on top of it with the directions. It seems like a lot of the drivers in the Long Beach area at least are LA transplants that Uber has sent down to help build the business in the area. The price is definitely cheaper than local cab companies, and I like how they send a detailed email receipt with more data than you could possibly need on your ride. On the app there is a handy fare calculator, which I've used a fair amount of times and found to be pretty accurate. Definitely check them out if you haven't already. On your first UberX they'll give you a code which makes your ride free up to $20, so what do you have to lose? read more

Probably the WORST car service in the Valley. You book a job and tey cancel it. The car comes then pulls away cause they got a better call. Try and cancel the CC on file and it virtually impossible. 2-3 Star for ride request pickup... 5 Star for the ride. First rider here... First: I had to be in westwood UCLA hospital for an emergency child birth (not me). Being my first time on Uber, for somewhat reasons it took almost 45mins to get the app ride request complete. Kept saying destination location not found. You would think UCLA medical hospital??? I finally was able to get around it by going to google maps, direction, and choosing uber as transportation option. All aside, i was already pissed, patient was already asleep and every gone by the time i got there. The Good: The ride did show up in minutes though. And was a good and easy ride from downtown to westwood. Driver was a cool dude. Second time this Uber thing failed me. Last month in NY, 8:45pm, the app could not locate a ride at all in Brooklyn... Uber has made it impossible to contact them. No customer service. You cant ask for help with a technical issue, or lodge a complaint. Your choices are to call an Emergency hotline where they hang up on you if they deem it not an emergency, or a line where they make you pay an additional fee, upfront, for a year, just to ask a question. Looks like Uber has forgotten that customers are the reason they have a business. Go somewhere else for your transportation needs. read more

For one of my uber trip this friday starting somewhere in Westwood, my uber driver completely ignored me and kept driving for some reason, and I literally had to run after his car, which is super dangerous. If he was really paying attention to the road situation, he would discover I am after him, and all those happened in roughly a minute or two time frame. Then he seem to stopped somewhere that is a few hundred meters from my designated pick up spot, I called him, but the line was not connected for some reason. Then I decided maybe he is waiting me there, so I decided to walk up. However, just when I started walking that way, he cancelled my trip and Uber charged me a cancellation charge. Maybe it's because it's difficult to see a waiting pedestrian at late night, but since I ran after his car for 20ish seconds, he should know that I am there and not just ignore me and thought he should cancel the trip. Very disappointed with Uber, would definitely use lyft if the difference in their charge is very small. read more

Uber gives me the peace of mind to go anywhere and be able to find my way home (or back to my hotel). They don't offer many promos but their customer service is good if and when you encounter a problem. My only issues with drivers took place in San Francisco (one refuse to pick us up because the street was too busy and another driver wouldn't take us to our destination because it was too far and he needed to pick up his wife from work). I also had one driver in Portland who had a huge tip jar attached between the passenger and driver seat which was weird. Other than that, I am happy to use this service and am yet to encounter a crazy driver like some of my fellow yelpers. read more

Oh Uber, how I love thee. Uber has saved me many a time and allowed me to go out and have fun safely. The prices are super cheap, way better than Lift and definitely wayyy better than taxi rates!! I love that you can rate the drivers, but beware, they can rate you too!! The best part is that your credit card # is on file... and once you've reached your destination, you're done! No need to sign, no need to add a tip. It's all included in the very reasonable fee. I really hope it's here to stay. Love Uber! I've used Uber several times now and the drivers are all super friendly and courteous. Perfect for rides to dinners and events or night clubs. Great to use for one way rides to and from the airport or if you want to drink with dinner and don't want to drive home. Also good if you get stranded somewhere or your ride is suddenly missing and can't take you home. No cash is exchanged with the driver so you don't have to worry about having cash on hand! They are pretty much available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. But, coverage can be slim between 1am and 4am on weekdays (taken from their website). You simply create an account online (or through the app), add a credit card and request a driver. Uber charges your credit card automatically at the competition of your ride (tip is built into the price of the ride) and then sends an email to you a receipt of the total charge. The cars/SUVs are super nice too! Download the Uber app to your phone! It's very easy to use and they've recently updated the app so that you also can add your destination as well. The app lets you know how many drivers are in your area and estimated time when they will pick you up. Gives you the option to call your driver if needed. Also, sends you a text when the driving is arriving! The app gives the driver's license plate number and name so that it's easier to identify the car when it comes to pick you up. When using the Uber app, it's best to type in your pick up address rather than having the GPS locate you. The GPS isn't always accurate and might send your driver to the wrong place. read more

I love Uber. Another rare 5 star rating. I've never had a bad experience with Uber after about 30+ rides. I love: * the convenience of the app, being able to order with a couple button presses on my phone. * visual feedback of the drivers location, knowing when to step outside. Much better than waiting outside for up to an hour for a taxi to arrive. * Payment is seamless. Just step out of the car and you're done. No messing around looking for cash, waiting for the credit card to be processed, calculating tips. * Never had a grumpy or unfriendly driver. They must be out there but I'm yet to meet one. * Cars are normally modern and often quite new. The only downside is on a few occasions the driver had some trouble finding my location. Because most drivers are part time & often new they don't always know the area well. This negative is still offset by the positives above so much that the 5 stars remains. I just want Uber to come to Australia now where I live full time. The old taxi system is oligoplisic, bloated, over-regulated and belongs in a bygone era. Until recently they charged a 10% surcharge for credit card transactions. What a rort. They've dropped it to 5% presumably due to Uber. May this disruptive service continue its disruption! read more

My buddy tells me to try Uber... long story short added the app and discount code for $10.00 off my first trip, clicked the arrow for a black car @ 5:30, Received driver pict and cell# @ 5:31, Driver arrived @ 5:39. 25 min trip up Highland to the Dolby Theatre and I was done. I pre-tipped through the app so all that was left was Thanks!!! Upon leaving did the same as earlier and received an upgraded Suv for the "Black Car" rate :).... Total Trip With Tip $90.00... $41 going $23 coming back. Total Savings: $310.00 UBER FOREVER A-1!!!! Drivers were great, friendly and Professional.... Try it you just might like it... I love uber! Especially now that they have added the uber x option which is slightly cheaper than the town car or SUV option. The app is so convenient not only can you see how far away an uber is before calling one, you can get real time updates on the status of your car by checking the app, you can rate your driver, and you use it to pay. No more worrying if you have enough cash to pay the cab! Next time I need a ride from LAX I am calling uber! I am sure it'd be faster than waiting for a cab. Showed his phone to me and wanted me to point out which address I wanted to go too. Mine was not on the list. No English at all. Finally got him to drive and gave him hand signals left and right to get to my address. I did get home, paid him estimated in cash because the meter didn't compute the trip. I've lost faith in Uber. Mixed experiences with Uber but the last two have definitely soured me on this companies service. First we order an Uber car in advance for a very early morning trip to the airport. The driver never showed. We had to order another one, and we were charged $5 for cancelling a trip we never cancelled. The worst experience was in LA on New Years Eve. Our driver drove right past us while we were standing on the curb (there were no other people near by). When we finally got him he spoke almost no English. He kept trying to take some outlandish route to our destination which was only a mile or so away. We know it well so we insisted he take the shortest route. But when I got out of the car my new iPhone fell out of my pocket. We discovered it almost immediately and started calling my phone with my husbands. It rang, and was obviously turned on. Then we turned on track my iPhone and we could see it moving through the streets of W. Hollywood. We called repeatedly. The driver headed east through downtown LA. We continued calling. Finally we decided to walk to our car and see if we could actually catch up with the driver. By this time an hour had elapsed. Track my iPhone sent a special sound to the phone. Nothing. We were just about to leave when tracking showed the driver stopping in a parking lot of a school somewhere in East LA. We tried again to call the phone. This time the it was answered...but was also promptly hung up, at which point the phone was turned off. Bye-bye iPhone. Fortunately I have insurance, but the whole experience was unnerving and a hassle. Best guess is that when the driver stopped and finally answered the phone he realized that he had an expensive phone, and was smart enough to know that if he turned it off it could not be tracked. Oh yeah, he also canceled our trip (for which we were charged $5.00), perhaps thinking that he erased the trip. He didn't it was still in my trip history. It was a waste of time, but I finally dug deep enough in the Uber app to find a way to report something as lost or stolen. I did, writing up my whole narrative. The only reply I got was a form saying "no additional information was needed." End of story.... So much for Uber caring about its customers. Will we use it again. Probably, its convenient and relatively inexpensive, but only as good as its individual drivers, who apparently have little accountability. read more
