I really wish I could give more stars and a good comment but, unfortunately, I can't. Now, I do appreciate Uber as I take it often because of my Epilepsy (seizures), and I often don't have access to rides from my parents or friends so thank you uber for that BUT I just don't think it's fair about the "up charge" I get when it's a shorter distance. I ordered an Uber on Monday. A car came and the driver was extremely pleasant. Unfortunately Uber sent him to the 405 freeway as the pickup address. I don't live on the 405. By the time he got to me, I no longer needed a ride. I tipped him for his trouble and went about my business. About 15 minutes later, I got an alert from Uber that my driver was on the way. Huh? Uber sent the driver to an address that begins with 16, in Westminster. My address (which is correct on the Uber app) starts with 82 in Huntington Beach. I was charged a $5.00 cancellation fee. Last night I scheduled a 3:30 am pickup for this morning to go to John Wayne Airport. Again with the wrong address. We had to drive ourselves or miss our flight. The Uber App/service is complete junk. If you try to book a ride when its busy the drivers just start passing you around to other drivers, and the app tries to pass you to the most expensive drivers. I used to adore Uber. Now I try and get an Uber and I am canceled 4-5 times , wasting my time. Then I get an Uber that says 20 minutes, a long time as they have to finish their ride before coming to get me. I switch to Lyft and get a ride in 10 minutes, not several cancels. I have had 2 separate BAD incidents where Uber drivers tried to take advantage of me. The 1st is when I was overcharged for a ride for myself and 2 girlfriends. After an initial quote of $26 from Santa Ana Airport to Laguna Beach, I ended up being charge $34+ An unexplained $7.61 was charged to my trip under "Toll Rd" as well a $3.50 toll. Back and forth with Uber they could not or would not explain the $7.61 charge. The highest toll on the actual toll road is $3.50. We drove through one ($3.50 listed)! They send tax forms (1099 nec) to someone who has never driven or gotten money for an uber and when customer service gets told about a possible case of identity theft (someone using my information to get money from them) I send them my drivers license and other information but they wouldn't help unless I was using the email that the fraudulent person used to pretend to be me. Gift cards are often useful for people that don't want to divulge their credit card information to out of the country sellers like UBER. WARNING! DO NOT BUY UBER GIFT CARDS! The minimum rating I could pick is 1 star, zero stars was not an option. I bought a couple of $50 giftcards at the beginning of the year. I used the first one OK. I recently tried the second one and got an error message that the Gift Code had already been applied to someone elses UBER account. I did online cat with UBER Customer Support and they advised me that UBER doesn't refund Lost and Stolen cards. Excuse me? My card was not Lost or Stolen and I uploaded pix of my card and purchase receipt to UBER Customer Support to prove that I am the rightful owner and the card is in my possession. They asked for a screenshot of the error message that pops up when I enter the Giftcard Code and I provided the screenshot. Beats me why they need that becuase they already told me that the card was redeemed to another account and gave me the account holders first name. I suggested that they debit that person's account and reimburse me. I haven't heard back so I think they are probably ignoring me now.
