Found some great sneaker finds on the second floor at this Philadelphia sneaker shop. Got 4 pairs of sneakers and some and some great shorts for $180 total. Almost bought a fifth pair of sneakers, but I changed my mind when I got to the register. When I explained to the pregnant cashier that I no longer wanted them, I found her (the cashier) to be very rude, condescending and had an attitude that there was no need for, honestly. She acted as if she was doing me and my friends a favor or as if I was asking her for a bone marrow transplant. Also when I got home, I noticed that one of the pairs had what appeared to be razor blades slices in them. Unacceptable. Not sure I will shop here again until they train their employees better. My bf loves this store and we pay a visit each time he is in the city. He is somewhat of a shoe hoarder, but I love collecting makeup-it's ok, we all have our obsessions! Ubiq for him, Sephora for me. They have a wide variety of shoes and fair pricing on the floor. He definitely does his research for the shoes he wants online at both the Ubiq website and other similar sites, so if the price is equal or better at the Ubiq store then we might as well buy it here and save $10 on the shipping from an online purchase. 9/10, we make a purchase here at the store instead of online. As for the clothes, they have cool designs but for his body type, doesnt seem to fit well. That's a little disappointing but since the selection of shoes is so stellar I can probably overlook that a little. Was a bit skeptical from past reviews about how awful customer service online was but since they were the cheapest I could find the shoes in my size I decided to give my luck a chance. 9/11- Placed my order and was promised 3-5 business day shipping, Tracking code stated the ETA was 9/14. 9/14 - Check tracking and got this message: "Due to operating conditions, your package may be delayed. / Your delivery has been rescheduled for the next business day." Tried contacting customer support by email: no reply, then by phone: no pick-up 9/18 - Tracking updates and the shoes are in my city (phew i'm revealed, was regretting my decision on not trusting past reviews and thinking about charging back my purchase) 9/19 - Received shoes, they were authentic, the correct size, and seemed brand new. The number is just there to make you think they have one. I ordered a $250 dollar jacket, waited 2 business days since that is what it states for processing on their FAQ, sent them multple emails about the status of my order. They never replied. I waited another 2 days, then I tried calling all day. They dont ever pick up. I had to go through twitter and ask them what was going on. The person that was incharge of the Ubiq twitter account told me that customer service will get in touch with me. After 1 hour, I get an email saying my order got cancelled. I dont know how that is getting in touch. I dont understand how they can sell something that is already sold out and waste my time and tell me 4 business days later that the coat I bought was sold out. When I first moved to Philly and started working in Center City, I was looking for a nice spot with exclusive kicks. On a stroll one day, I serendipitously stumbled upon Ubiq and I was glad. The set up of this spot is really nice. You walk in and they have the extra hot kicks encased in glass. Everything else is out on the shelf. More than half of the kicks here aren't sold in your regular chain like Footlocker, Foot Action, etc. Most recently, I was able to purchase a pair of Air Jordan playoffs with very little hassle. The store opens at 11:00am on Saturdays. I stood on line for about 30 minutes before they opened and walked out with no issues. read more

Even if you don't go to buy, Ubiq is well worth a look. It's fun to just wander around the rainbow-colored sneakers--heavily Nike, but also Puma, Adidas, and Vans (upstairs right now). I was tempted to buy an aqua pair of Pumas with bright red soles. So cool. They also have a nice men's clothing section, but I do wish they had a little more selection for the ladies. Still, I loved it anyway. The staff is super friendly and approachable. And they played older Outkast while I was shopping, very nice. read more

I have been a loyal customer of ubiq for years. Great selection, helpful staff. A little too much flavor of the week stuff but that's really it. My only advice is check the size of your shoes before you leave. I often purchase brands and models I own so rarely feel the need to try anything on at the store. I purchased multiple pairs of shoes and didn't realize that one pair was given to me a half size too small. I had painfully worn them for an hour before I noticed the mistake and ubiq was unwilling to exchanged the shoes because they'd been worn. It's just as much my bad as the store's but more could have been done in terms of taking responsibility on their part. read more

I found Ubiq life under an app that was for sneakers and I loved the way it was shown. Once arriving and moves into my apartment I stumbled upon Ubiq life saying "Hey wait isn't this the store I was checking?" And I was impressed and shocked because it was just 2 blocks from where I live. What a lucky coincidence. Now being already here for a month and visiting the shop from time to time (even taken part in my first shoe release in the US) I have to say I'm very satisfied with Ubiq and they have a mad variety of sneakers to choose from. And even sneakers that are well known that they sell or release in the future. From shoes that already released to shoes that you have to sign up for and experience the epic moment you stand in line for a sneaker you want to get. Ubiq looks to be the best place to buy sneakers in Philadelphia, and--having shopped for sneakers in world-class cities like London and Los Angeles and slightly more provincial ones like Denver and Kansas City--looks to be a pretty serious contender on the national scene as well. I was pretty worried the first time I dropped in because I saw all the storekeepers huddled around the counter, watching videos and joking around... In Los Angeles, this is a fairly common occurrence, and the employees usually just continue their business, making you feel like a nerd and a jerk for breaking up their party if you need any help. At Ubiq, though, one of the guys broke away immediately and asked me if I needed any help. He was attentive and polite and not the least bit pushy... In other words, the perfect retail salesperson. The thing is, though, Ubiq--given their excellent selection of sneakers and clothes and watches--could probably get away with having shitty salespeople. The fact that they truly go the extra mile with customer service is pretty awesome. BOTTOM LINE: Ubiq has sick sneakers, good clothes, and tons of awesome G-Shocks and accessories--all at fairly standard prices--and the helpful and unpretentious staffers make shopping here a real pleasure. read more

The items the store carries are, generally, pretty cool. Obviously you get the occasional overhyped trash. The staff are very poor salespeople. They seem to think that their employment as a sales clerk at a semi-highend store carries some kind of prestige. Most of them are unattentive and rude. As someone said before, it seems like they try to judge customers, and be obvious about it, which is so weird when these dudes were hired specifically to serve you. Luckily, there's Ubiq. This place is located right smack in downtown Philly, making it super convenient to stop by after a lunch or day of chilling. Once you step inside, you can spot all the various kicks that they have in stock. From quickstrikes to general releases, this place has them all. If you're looking for a place to get Jordans, then you've found your spot. Just be prepared to wait in a fat line when release day comes around. Aside from shoes, they actually carry a wide variety of brands. From Original Fake, Obey, Undefeated, to Hall of Fame, you'll definitely get what you're looking for. If somehow that's not your style, then their 2nd floor has all the Mitchell and Ness you can dream of. Fitted caps, jerseys, throwbacks, you name it they have it. The staff here is pretty friendly, and on a typical day, it isn't too packed. Surprisingly, they still had a bunch of sizes for some of the popular shoes that were currently released. Great place to stop by if you're into street wear or sneakers, and it's probably the only place around Philly to get a pair of kicks aside from House of Hoops. Okay, I'm a sneaker guy through and through. Understand this: Ubiq is not all it's cracked up to be... it's just exponentially better than Foot Locker / Finish Line. The inventory is very flavor-of-the-month stuff, especially in the way of Dunks, Air Force Ones, and Air Max 90s Nikes. They are peddling the same stuff that you can get at all the Mom & Pops on the East Coast. What's good though, is everybody in Philly seems so reliant on Puma that you'll already look relatively unique whatever you buy. Problem being, Ubiq charges at least 20 dollars more on a pair of shoes than most places with the same schwag. I wish Ubiq would carry better clothing items too. As a man, they stock nothing but XXL sizes, and the prints and availability aren't half as cool as their shoe merchandise. I want Ubiq to win, but I think the two-year allowance is nearing expiration, and they need to sharpen it up a bit. read more

Sadly Ubiq has become a monopoly for the sneaker stores in Philadelphia. Afficial is gone, WTHN is gone, Nocturnal and Exit no longer the better SB selection. Abakus in Chinatown has the best overall sneaker selection but the prices (because of consignment) are not nearly as great as Ubiq's. You go to UBIQ because it's there. The customer service is always on-top, which I appreciate, but UBIQ can get boring and repetitive for the sneaker culture scene in Philly. I am making this place sound harsher than it actually is, the inside is beautiful and easily has one of the best presentations in the country for footwear and streetwear boutiques. The prices are standard, occasionally you can get a steal on some accessories or t-shirts and some under-sold Vans and Converse's, but otherwise the selection is above-average. If you are a real sneakerhead, go to Abakus. Just make sure you save up. read more

This place is FRESH! I love shopping here. The store itself is clean and fancy, staff is chill, they play good music, three floors of retail goodness. The way they display their shoes is actually eye catching. They put their newest stock up against the big glass window on Walnut St., so people walking by always turn their heads and peek in through the window. Besides their specialty in sneakers, they also carry a large amount of clothing styles. Everything from fitteds and beanies, to jeans, to backpacks, tshirts and jackets, Ubiq's got it all for the street culture fanatic. Best part yet, if you aren't living in the Philly area, you can still check out their blog or browse everything they carry on their sleek website. Lol Ubiq. Having worked at a street wear boutique similar to Ubiq for years of my life, I know the expectations and stigma that comes with 80% of stores like this. I was not proven wrong, which was a shame. When you walk in everyone looks at you and you are judged right away. I'm lucky I'm a decently fly Dude because if you walked in there wearing some Sketchers and a generic brand hoodie, I'm not sure they would even look at you or give you the time of day. Selection is okay. That is what is earning my 2 stars. The footwear selection was dope. Everything from Jordan to New Balance, and some limited release stuff too. But man...getting someone their to talk to you or help you is almost an impossible task. In retail, customer service is more than half the battle. I get the email notifying me that it will be shipping out in 2 days when Monday comes I get an email telling me they have cancelled my order due to inventory issues. I was mad because they still had them advertised. A week later still no refund on my bank account I called them and see in their website that they have a full size run on the same sneakers and why they can't honor that sale that they did not complete...they told me they have to sell them to me for the recent online price and also the reason for canceling my order in the first place is because they thought it was a different color way I ordered that was sold out already. I proudly wear my UBIQ beanie in the winter. I am a fan of street style. What I love about this boutique, unlike most of the streetwear you can find on south street and such, this takes the style to a new level. Crossing the line between fashion and streetwear, and constantly showing new brands and their offerings. I'm a sucker for men's fashion. If my DH had his way, I'd gladly shop for all of his clothing, and this would be my first stop. Loving all the designy hoodies, and unexpected details I saw in this season's offerings.
