ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO HERE!!! THIS PLACE IS HONESTLY A SCAM. WASTE OF MONEY I brought my Razer Blade 15 laptop to this location to replace the CPU fan and battery. I ordered the parts on Amazon for around $70 in total. This place said that they cannot accept outside parts and each part (battery and fan) would cost about $199 each if they ordered them. They said that the service would cost around $300-500 and would take 1-2 days for diagnostics and 3-5 days to order parts and receive them. I went to DPC Computer Repair with the parts I ordered on Amazon. They installed them in less than 10 minutes and only charged me $40. $300-500 in about a week vs $110 for less than ten minute service. I would have fallen for the $300-500 price if not for a previous repair store telling me it is cheaper to just order the parts online and have someone install them for you. I brought my Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio in to this repair shop for a basic battery replacement. What I got back was a sluggish, laggy, and underperforming machine. Originally, they told me the battery was fine but claimed the hard drive was defective--which made no sense since everything worked perfectly before I brought it in. They offered to replace the drive for $150 at a "discounted rate." When I asked how the hard drive could suddenly fail after they opened the device, I got no real answer--just that it was "defective." Then they claimed the CPU was "overheating" and tried to fix it by changing BIOS settings, but said Microsoft locks those settings and they couldn't proceed. They even admitted that installing a third-party BIOS would destroy the motherboard. In the end, they refunded the $259.68 I paid for the battery and didn't charge me for the hard drive, but now my laptop is a mess. It's laggy, slow, and the screen stutters--none of which were issues before. If I hadn't brought it in, I would still have a working laptop with short battery life. Now it's barely usable. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this shop. I walked in with a minor issue and left with a degraded machine. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. Would not recommend to anyone, and will never have a repair done there again. Had iPhone back glass replaced only to realize it had shattered again a week later when the home button stopped working. We had a good case on the phone and it was not dropped. The website claims there is a 1-year warranty that only excludes water damage. However when we returned to the store we were told they would not fix "physical damage". Dylan, the owner, can go to hell. I did not pick up a completed repair on a Switch due to COVID isolation related to an immunosuppressed family member. The Switch pickup seemed a completely unnecessary risk. Spoke with numerous of Dylan's employees over the course of 12 weeks. Offered to pay extra to have it shipped - no, against policy. Offered to pay with a credit card on the phone - no, against policy. Offered to mail a check - no, against policy. But in every case they assured me the device would be fine in the store. Then Dylan calls Dec 30th, leaves a voicemail saying we have 1 day to come get it or it's being recycled. So I called back, obviously quite irate, and Nick picks up the phone. He says there is no record at all in the system of my ever having talked with anybody. I demand to talk to the owner, Dylan, who tells me that his system shows his staff have 'attempted to work with me many times' and I ended up having to take the risk to pick it up because 'we're not a storage service'. Had my SIM card mount malfunction. I took it here based on my warranty options. They said the Motherboard had to be replaced but it was covered by my manufacture warranty. A week later they received the part and fixed the phone. Four days later, the screen stopped working. I took it back in and they said it was due to a wire not being connected properly/short. Fixed it and gave it back. A month later the screen went dead again. I took it in... again. This time they told me the phone screen was cracked on the inside? There was no physical damage to the outside, no cracks in the screen. They told me this was not covered. I asked what my options were because I disagreed with the diagnosis. There was also a screen protector undamaged so this was very frustrating. He told me to reach out to Google. I asked him if he had a number, he said "I don't know, I can Google it." I went from having a SIM issue to in less than 2 months later not having a phone. I would avoid this place and understand the fine print of any manufacture warranty. This place is simply dishonest. I was told they would do same day screen repairs if you get there before 5pm, so I made arrangements to do so. I got there at 4:40 and was told they could NOT fix it that day. They said I would have needed to be there before 4:30. If I would have been told that then I would have been, but I was told 5pm. Sooo frustrating! But whatever...to add more frustration, I'm told that the screen warranty I bought from them 14 months prior was only good for 12 months and has been discontinued. How convenient that nobody mentioned that it was only a 12 month warranty when I purchased it. The guy simply told me if I purchased the liquid screen upgrade then it would only cost me a $20 deductible if my screen got broke again. So now they won't honor it. When I push back on the owner about this I'm told this all was clearly indicated on my receipt. What, the receipt I got when I picked up my phone... AFTER the screen protector was applied?! Simple galaxy 9+ screen repair. 1. Didn't have correct color back glass so took 2 weeks to order. (Back glass was not broken and only 1 week old). 2. I went in with needing a data transfer. Once they figured out that I needed a password to unlock my iphone backup they were very patient with me trying multiple passwords. Since that didn't work we were stuck at a dead-end. The owner personally came up with a solution and special price just for what I needed done. I found a TV by a dumpster, turned out to be worth $1800 new. After a FREE estimate, I was told the motherboard was discontinued. They sent the board off and it was fixed in an insanely short amount of time. These guys are without a doubt, genuine and go above and beyond to help their clients. Since my repair I've done research on similar costs to fix the issue... They're on par price wise, but damn, the customer service is impeccable. Very helpful and polite staff. Fixed an iPhone the Apple Store refused to work on for half the price that Apple would have charged. Plus I had to make an appointment a week in advance at Apple, wait 60 minutes just to be told that they will not help me. Worst customer service ever! The guy literally took forever when I was only person in line. Not good! Edit: To be a bit more clear, the staff working had been very clear and good about explaining things. The customer service on the checkout was terrible. I had clearly been in a hurry and the person checking me out did everything but address me. This place is absolutely horrible. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I would never bring a phone here to get fixed ever again. A year ago, my husband cracked the screen on his Droid 4. I brought it here for a new screen and everything seemed fine. They said they could fix it and I trusted them. I picked it up a week later and took it home to my husband all excited. Well, it turns out that there was more damage to the outside of the phone and the speaker didn't work so he couldn't hear anyone who was calling. I called the manager and told them that there was something wrong with the phone. He told me to bring it back. So when I brought it back I showed them damage to the phone that had not been there when I brought it there initially. Only then do they fess up and admit that they've never fixed a Droid 4 before and didn't know you have to open the back of the phone with a key so they just pried the back off somehow and ruined it. Seriously?! Why didn't they just confess that they didn't know how to fix it before I paid them $150 to make it worse?! So they say they will fix the speaker and order a new outside for the phone free of charge (that's the least they could've done for lying to me). So once the new outside of the phone gets in I take it back. I go back a week later and it looks good now. I bring it home and guess what? The front facing camera doesn't work. I have to call the manager back again and complain. They tell me to bring it in. I bring it in again and they fix it. I complain that they completely ruined his phone and I want my money back for everything they did. Nope. They just gave my half of my money back. Buywer beware. It's worth mentioning that the store offers a discount off services for writing a Yelp review. Great, who doesn't love a discount? The problem with this is you have to review them before you pick the product up, then show them the review on your phone when you get your device back. So keep that in mind when reading reviews- most people haven't spent time with the item after it's been "Repaired". I cracked my iPad Air screen. I was told they've fixed them before but would have to take a week to order the part. Okay no problem. Pick it back up and the screen is good as new. My only complaint (and it was minor enough I didn't mention it) is that the button is now really indented and recessed behind the iPad face. To the point where it is difficult to press. 60 days into the 90 day warranty the middle right portion of the screen becomes unresponsive. I take it back in and was told there is a 5% defect rate. Okay, I can accept that, they replace it, I bring it home the next day. As soon as I put my magnetic cover back on I knew something was wrong. If the cover is folded back behind the iPad it puts it in sleep mode. It's extremely sensitive and the lightest tap will do this. Trip 3 back to Ubreakifix. They have my iPad for several days, no one calls me. I call to check in. They are researching the problem. I was told their glass doesn't have the same magnets as Apples which is interesting because initially they alleged it is the exact same minus an Apple logo on the inside. They are now trying to determine if they can get the part. On top of that the menu button I mentioned before is becoming more indented by the day. It's now to the point of being extremely difficult to press. As far as that problem goes I was told "they put them back together the best they can, sometimes that happens". The place is great in theory but what I wouldn't give to do it over again, pay the extra $100 to Apple and have it fixed properly. Also worth noting, when I was in for the third time two other customers who were waiting overheard me talking with the clerk and stopped me to say they've heard of others having issues after iPad fixes. read more

While I was there, I read their Help wanted sign for the Oak Lawn location. At the top of the list were "Must be at least 18" and "No experience necessary/training provided." Inexperienced teenagers certainly explains a lot. Basically, they had my phone for 8 days with very little communication and when I finally went in to ask for it, they told me they couldn't fix it after all and handed it back to me. When I took it to Novafix (http://www.yelp.com/biz/novafix-chicago-2), they had it fixed in a day and for $60 instead of the $80 quoted to me by ubreakifix. They didn't break it further while they had it, so it's not a critical failure but the time wasted driving back and forth a couple of times to Naperville, as well as the opportunity cost of not having my phone for over a week deserves a review to balance out all the glowing reviews that led me to choose them in the first place. read more

I took my PS3 here for repair after getting the "Yellow Light of Death". They fixed it but it only worked for about a month before breaking again. To their credit, they offered to refund my repair charge if I brought the again-broken PS3 to them to demonstrate I wasn't trying to con them. Unfortunately, as I live in Chicago and getting to Naperville is a huge pain, I was never able to carve out the time to get back there for my refund. Two major complaints: 1) The Chicago location doesn't handle PS3 repair. I'd think that this could be your busiest location if it was capable of servicing all of your potential customers. 2) They wouldn't schedule a repair appointment so that I could drop off and pick up the same day; this cost me an extra round trip to Naperville. They were relatively quick, repairing (temporarily, at least) the item within two days but offering appointment windows would be a nice courtesy to their customers, especially those who travel more than an hour each way to visit them. Overall, not a good experience. Although frustrating, I don't really blame them for the PS3 breaking again; as I understand the repair, it is, by nature, a temporary fix. I do fault them, however, for their less-than-accommodating customer service policies. read more

I hate to do this because the staff was very friendly but it totally inconvenienced me. I needed my screen replaced on my iPhone. Brought it in and they said come back at 1pm. I waited because my receipt said estimated time to be down was 1:20. I show up at 1:28 and the repairmen said you have the cracked screen correct. I said yes and he then informed me it would be an hour longer. So I again drove the 20 minutes home. I again wanted to give them some time, so I came back at 2:40 and they said we are still working on it. After about 15 minutes the technician comes out and said there is a problem with your Samsung. Went here to drop my iPhone 4S off on a Wednesday night for a screen repair. I asked for both the front and back screens to be fixed. When I dropped off my phone, they said they were backed up and would have my phone ready in few hours. They called to tell me that my phone was ready about 15 minutes before they closed. Unfortunately, I was farther away than that so I couldn't pick it up the same day. I wish they would have told me it would be ready before close so I could have picked it up. When I got my phone, I saw the back was not fixed. I waited 5 minutes for that to get done. Pretty good service, a bit on the expensive side, but they do thorough work and are friendly. They're upfront about costs, which is worth 4 stars alone. They are very friendly as other reviews have mentioned. Half the time when you talk to a "genius" at Apple, you are condescended like you are an imbecile- here they actually know what customer service means. Repairs are great. I needed a new headphone jack for my Samsung Galaxy Note. The guy told me the cost of the part up front, that it would take 10 minutes to fix, and the labor was $39. Granted, that's pretty expensive labor, but at least they are honest and upfront. Work done was top-notch, too. Definitely a good alternative to the Apple store for your i-anythings, and for Samsung Factory parts when you can't get them on your own. read more

Please do not buy here. There is absolutely no sense of professionalism at all. I went to get my brothers phone fixed. We took the phone home after it being fixed and at no point dropped the phone in anyway. We then realized there was a scratch on the phone the next day. We went in explaining and asked if there was anyway we can get the phone fixed, and that's when the "owner" was completely unprofessional. He told us that we dropped the phone even though we never did. He then told me that I took of the screen protector film when given the phone. I at no point took of any film I was simply just given a phone. I then told him to look at the tapes to prove that I had never done that, after looking at the tapes he came and lied to my face completely by saying I did. He not only lied to my face, he yelled, and forced us to leave. I don't have a problem with someone not being able to help, what I do have a problem with is such unprofessionalism. Update (Final): I feel the store did all they could to resolve this iPad accelerometer issue and went so far as to offer a refund due to the issue not being resolvable. They also explained to my satisfaction the nature of the issue and it all made sense that the minute components on the iPad motherboard can and do go south. So, for sincere customer service and efforts to resolve hardware issues, I can give the store a 4*** rating and say that if your screen is cracked, give them a try. Update: the store has taken back the device to do a deeper dive on the screen rotation issue plus issued a 50% refund so, in fairness, updating to 3 *** . Had a cracked screen on an iPad2 repaired here at Ubreakifix in Naperville, Illinois. $160 and 4 hours later it had a new screen. Once I took it home and worked with it I realized the screen no longer rotated from portrait to landscape. It was stuck in portrait mode. I brought it in just now and was told that the accelerometer sometimes gets stuck and to unstick it they bang the iPad on a mat and that was the solution. I said OK and they banged the device several times. This did not fix the problem. I said to the clerk that when I brought it in the screen was cracked but the rotation was working and when I got it back the screen was fixed and the rotation was broken. I will start off by saying this place has EXCELLENT customer service. There may have been some complaints with some issues (which I will later mention), but they handled all the problems I had like a pro. I came to replace my cracked screen on my iphone from dropping it., and they did a beautiful job with the replacement. Looks exactly like it was before , if not better. HOWEVER, it was a pain in the arse to drive here 3 more times for mistakes that could have been fixed in one shot. When replacing your screen and getting your phone back, make sure you have your ear piece mesh PROPERLY in place, sim card tray still there, and your front face camera working (if they replace the glass incorrectly, sometimes it can mess up the connection with the front face camera). Check all these things before going home to avoid stupid trips back and forth. All in all, I would recommend this place, despite the mistakes due to their great service & willingness to make things right. read more

Ok. They took my phone apart and fixed the screen, which went well. However a month later my phone would not turn on and the LED camera flash was stuck on, to be clear there was NO water damage. They denied all liability claiming their warranty only covers the screen. OBVIOUSLY there is correlation between them taking apart my phone and this random behavior of my iPhone. They broke my $500 phone, ruined my Apple warranty and I can do nothing about it. To top it off the brown boy at the counter was very rude! Moral of the story: Do not use a 3rd party to fix your iPhone! Pony up and bring it to the Apple store across the street where qualified professionals will work on your phone.
