So I recently had to meet my sister in Davis to pick up some BBQ she made me and her meeting spot…read morehappened to be at Ikedas in Davis parking lot.Well since I had never been to the Davis location,I decided to walk on in and see if it was pretty similar to the Auburn location which I'd been to many times. Parking here is a breeze as they have their own open lot with plenty of spaces. Walking in,it's tough not to just be instantly mesmerized by the pure beauty of the local fresh fruit available. Beautiful peaches, nectarines, cherries and berries-it all look so gorgeous. Inside was a little cramped and I went before they were named the #1 pie shop in America,I'd imagine those tight quarters are having a time handling the crowds it's getting now. My top 3 things I love about Ikedas are as follows. 1.I've always loved the availability of their yummy tamales and really tasty chicken pot pies. Both are generally available fresh or frozen if you want to enjoy these goodies at home. 2.I've always loved the massive availability of hot sauces and snacks that both locations of Ikedas have always had on hand.I always made it a point when I was coming down the hill to stop at Ikedas in Auburn for a tasty tamale-now that I realize the Davis location is so much closer,I can see being able to enjoy those tamales and pot pies so much more often. 3.Pies-enjoying a pie from Ikedas always felt like something that locals knew and they shared with us out-of-towners whenever we happened to visit one of their 2 locations. With the recent award they received naming them best pie shop in America,I imagine those days are over and the secret is out.Now everyone will know what we knew way back when and hopefully this doesn't change them,I hope they can keep the high level of quality with what I'm sure will be a huge leap in demand-I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they can. A bonus thing I love about Ikedas is their fruit freezes-they are so good,my niece hipped me to these and man are they worth the price of admission alone-they are so yummy-do yourself a favor and make sure to try one of these on your next trip to Ikedas. In closing, I'm so happy that Ikedas is finally getting the flowers they deserve with their recent award and I am proud to say I voted for them myself. If you haven't had the pleasure of visiting one of their two locations,do yourself a favor and get out there and grab some yummy fruit and a piece of pie-it's a good day spent for sure.

I've got to say if there was a higher award possible, they'd win that too. The pie was fresh and delicious. I could taste every ingredient. I can tell they don't skip any steps in their pie making process. Their success is justified. Expect lines to remain long and the demand for their pies to stay high. It's worth it. Can't wait to go back and try their apple pie. $30 isn't much when the pie tastes like it was made in heaven.

On…read moreSunday morning we met to have brunch in the area adjacent to the park where the craft & vintage fair was happening. After we ate and the group split off into a couple of directions, some of us went over to check out the event. It was getting to the main heat of the day, so staying in the shade as much as possible was a priority. There was a nice variety of vendors with different kinds of mostly handmade items. From beautiful jewelry to clothing, to crafty decor pieces, woodwork, suncatchers, and much more. It was a bit too hot for me to have full enthusiasm for shopping. I ended up find a spot to sit and people watch while Dear Hubby and our nieces were browsing. I was waiting on a musical group to get organized after a break to start playing. They were the main reason that I took off a star. It took them a very long time to start performing. That, and the heat - it didn't feel as fun and festive as I might have expected. That being said, I would definitely consider returning the next time we're in the area. There is a fair amount of free parking adjacent to the fair area of the park. I see from their website that they typically provide the event two Sundays a month throughout most of the year. That's a nice community offering on a regular basis. Overall, prices seemed fair and the vendors were very friendly.

I'm so glad we ended up going, there were so many amazing stalls and products being sold. There was jewelry, hair accessories, scarves, baby toys, skincare, candles, a vintage clothing store, wood carved goods, wood notebooks, and more. I ended up purchasing jiggling scent bubbles from K and D Kreations and a vanilla scented sugar scrub from a goat milk skincare stall. I also spotted a hand knit and crocheted stall that took custom orders, I took note of it for the future! There's food trucks selling handmade pies, a lemonade stand, coffee, and Hawaiian shaved ice. The live music is really relaxing. This is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area- and if you're not, no worries! I spoke with many of the vendors and they were very friendly and let me know that they tend to sell their goods at the farmers market in West Sacramento and other neighboring areas.

I will always love Pedrick's for a few reasons that aren't just about the high quality produce they…read moresell or the incredible collection of hot sauces that they sell or the really good tamales they sell there as well. Those are all very valid reasons to love this place alone, but for me this place has a few sentimental reasons that I enjoy them and value them so much. One I remember when my children were quite young and they would stay at their grandmothers in the Bay Area for days at a time and when we did the kid exchange it was always done at the Pedricks parking lot and then the kids and I would walk into the market and they would each pick out a treat-I cherish those memories. The other thing I think about Pedrick is way back when, during the time when the Covid-Era lockdown was coming to an end,I remember the 1st day they told us we could begin going outside again, the very 1st place the wifey and I drove to was Pedricks. We jumped in the car in Natomas and beelined straight for some fresh fruit and veggies and whatever other treats we could find that day at Pedricks. It was such a joy to see them open and fully stocked that day,I might as well have been going to Disneyland,we were so happy to see people again. Fast forward to today and I find myself going here about once a month, whenever I'm either driving to or from the Bay Area usually visiting relatives. It's a great spot to pick up the freshest and tastiest fruits and veggies to bring to events. I am also a certified ChiliHead,so their vast collection of hot sauces is unmatched in the area-a true must stop spot for anyone who considers themselves a hot sauce connoisseur. Yep other things that really stand out at Pedricks is their wide variety of fresh nuts available for purchase-they truly have so many varieties and flavors at pretty decent pricing. I also really enjoy their candy selection,I truly need to use extreme discipline when I gaze upon their candy offerings as they have so much and as much of a sweet tooth as I have,I have to learn often to just say no and walk away-I'm glad it's here though. In closing,In case it's not obvious,I really truly do recommend Pedricks as it's a great market offering some of the best fruits and veggies in the area, along with so much more. Love this place.

It's a little on the pricey side, but definitely worth a stop to stretch your legs and grab a quick bite before jumping back on the road for the rest of a long drive.
