I called four different places and each one said: oh, if you want your data back, then it'll cost at least a hundred dollars, and it'll take a few days, you know, it's got to wait in line. I knew that was BS - my crashed harddrive shouldn't take more than a few hours to be fixed, and as for the hundred bucks - it's really not that hard to use a harddrive adapter kit to transfer the data. I knew that I was getting ripped off because that's what tech places do! They know you don't know anything, and so they take your broken down laptop which has your precious precious data and they say whatever they want to say, and charge whatever they want to charge. But not UC Electronics. 59 dollars, flat. And same day service - I literally got my laptop back after three hours. What more, my data was back. I've never been more satisfied. Not only were they cheaper, they did the job faster, and probably better too. Some of the other places I called kept telling me that _maybe_ they'd be able to get my data off, and if it was hard, they would have to charge me more. Not UC Electronics. If you want a place that won't rip you off, that will treat you with respect even if you don't know much about technology, UC Electronics is the place to go. It is really upsetting that 3 reviews on the same day are coming from the same people and then accuse UC Electronics of posting false reviews. I have been doing business with UC Electronics for 15 years since it opened it's doors. The owner is very nice and very knowledgeable. I bought all my cell phones there. I got my PC fixed there too for a reasonable price. It was returned quickly and completely cleaned up. I highly recommend this business. The owner, his wife and their employees are very nice people. Yelp should not allow those people from San Diego to team up against a business and post several bad reviews in one day. If this business was that bad to have several unhappy customers in one day, it would not be open. My opinion is that this is harassment and if I were the owner I would take legal action because they are trying to falsely affect his business. I will contact the owner to make sure he knows what is going on. I really care about these people. They do run a good business and proof is that they have been in business for over 15 years. read more

We rented a projector and a laptop for a presentation where we could not control the light conditions. At 2500 lumens, the projector was brighter than what I found at a highly recommended competitor, and considerably cheaper to rent. The laptop also rented for a fraction of the competitor's price. It was a weekend presentation, and we were flying out of SFO early Monday, so the proprietor agreed to open his shop Sunday night for us to return the equipment. He was also available for a technology consultation (by phone) on Saturday afternoon. One note: He's a bit casual about paperwork; the only documentation of the rental was a credit-card receipt. To follow up on my original review: the good customer service continues. Sam actually called me to find out what was up as the drop-off deadline neared. It turns out I was absorbed in a work deadline and had lost track of time. Thanks to his call, I was able to avoid an additional day of charges. THANK YOU SAM ! I have a projector that stopped working. I brought it in to UC Electronics. After I described the problem, the fellow behind the desk told me that he thought that the issue was probably that the after-market bulb I was using was overheating (something he said he had encountered frequently), and that my best bet was to buy a new bulb directly from the manufacturer. I am going to do that. My comment is 1) that the way he discussed the problem was very professional and confidence-inspiring, and 2) that the free advice he gave me was entirely for my benefit, not his. read more

I needed a projector to show photographs at a friend's memorial. The price at UC Electronics was reasonable (much less than what the hotel would have charged us) and the equipment perfect for my needs. The event was on a Saturday and I only paid for one day's rental, but UC Electronics let me pick up the projector a day early and return it on Monday, with no extra charge.The owner was more than helpful in accommodating my tight schedule; he even came in early so that I could return the projector when I had misunderstood the store's hours. read more

What a great shop! I took my sister's 4 year old IBM laptop in to see if it would be worth repairing and Sam was incredibly helpful. He listened to everything I had to say and then explained what he could do and exactly what it would cost. He followed up with me after he opened it up so that I could make decisions along the way. Every time that I went there with my equipment and asked for a diagnosis and an estimate, the gentleman who was in charge of the business was very courteous, informative and his estimate for the repair was very fair. Sam was great! Fixed a problem with the voicemail from my phone provider that I had been trying to resolve all morning. I had bought the SIM card from him, but had not known that he would also provide customer service. I highly recommend buying a SIM card from Sam, because sometimes problems with a Smart phone require a professional to fix.
