The restaurant is very clean and quaint (super cute). They had music playing, which would typically be fine but we couldn't hear our waitress/server so that was a struggle. We just leaned into her as much as possible and she was happy to repeat herself. We ordered the mojarra frita con arroz y ensalada, chicharron peruan, and patacone. We got a ton of food with our order. I LIVED how crispy and crunchy the yuca fries were.I liked the variety of hot sauces they offered us. I came here based on a Yelp's suggestion and I have no regrets! The restaurant it is small but feels cozy and warm. You can tell it is own by a local person and they take pride on their work. The restaurant it is just spotless and they have a full bar. Being from South Florida, you find Peruvian restaurants all over. But I am glad they are here because the flavor it is just great! Fast, freshly cooked food and you can't beat that. The service is friendly and concern that you are taken care of. If you want a traditional peruvian cuisine, look no further than this restaurant. This restaurant has been around for a while, but it used to have a different name. It used to be called Sabor Peru (I think). I don't know if it was bought by others or if they just had a name change and a facelift, but I saw a post about it on Facebook and decided to try it. It's a cozy little spot right on Grand avenue with tables in the perimeter and one long table in the middle, as well as a refrigerator that holds their desserts, and a small bar. We were the only ones in the restaurant and we're seated right away. I saw a few people come in for takeout but it was a pretty quiet evening. I had the ribs and it came with a salad and french fries. The fries were just fries, nothing that would impress anyone. The ribs were tender and meaty. It came with a thick, sweet barbecue - like sauce. I would definitely get it again. My dining partners both got their roast chicken which is what they are known for. I tried a little of the chicken and it was very tender and had a ton of flavor. Next time I go I would love to try that dish. We also tried a few drinks. I think their chef is also their bartender so even though it was slow, our drinks took a long time to come to the table. They arrived after our meal. I got a little pink drink and that was tart and fruity, my dining partner got a colorful drink that looked really pretty but she said it was just too sweet and she couldn't finish it. The menu is unique enough that I want to go back and try different dishes. Some of the dishes are what I have seen at the other Peruvian restaurant in Des Moines, but some were unique to them. read more

We moved to DSM from Miami, where there is a Peruvian restaurant within a mile of you anywhere in the city. So we were so happy to find this gem just east of East Village. A lovely little family run restaurant that serves up lomo saltado and pisco sours as well! We stop by for take out often from this friendly spot, and enjoy a pisco sour while waiting for our food. read more

An absolute treasure. A new favorite for us. Our party had the Pollo Brasa, lomo Saltado and arroz chaufa. Every dish was fantastic. The chicken was juicy and so flavorful. The Lomo Saltado was piled high with tender well-spiced chunks of beef and crispy grilled vegetables. The fries served with the Saltado were coated with a seasoning that made them super crispy and the sauces served as an accompaniment were so good, we asked for more to take home. Seriously, I would put those sauces on EVERYTHING. I have never had arroz chaufa before, but I will order it again for sure. Juicy bites of chicken, perfectly cooked rice and a tamarind sauce that was out of this world. The portions were huge and we had lots of leftovers.
