I have been going here since I was little! My dad went to UCONN, and is a huge fan of the campus. We stopped here in September when my uncle and aunt were visiting from Lousiana. I tried Husky Tracks, and maybe mudslide ?? or a similar flavor. I opted for the two scoop waffle cone, and it is HUGE. I had trouble finishing this thing! I am so lucky to have experienced this ice cream when I was a UConn student, and will make the trek out just to have this treat when I am craving ice cream. The cherry on top is that the prices are extremely reasonable. I get a small cup which consists of two scoops, and those scoops are MASSIVE. I can do with just a kid size next time but I always wanna try two flavors. Their creations are so tasty and some of the senior scoops I wish were permanent flavors. Some of my all time faves include the salted caramel crunch, and their black raspberry has to be the best I've ever tried, no exaggeration. Wow! I've been missing out! This was my first experience here after hearing about it for years. There was a line out the doors, down the stairs and into the parking lot on the day I visited- Labor Day. However, the line moved fast and everyone was pleasant. I saw the board with the flavors of the day and knew I couldn't get just one. The young man who was taking orders was cheerful, competent and efficient. What a fabulous employee! I ordered a medium cup with 3 types of ice cream- strawberry cheesecake, chocolate brownie and coffee espresso crunch. The place was very clean and crowded and the staff were so fast and pleasant that I didn't mind waiting to get my cup. It didn't take too long. When my number was called I took it along with a spoon and napkins and made my way to the tables outside. All three flavors were out of this world! Creamy, crunchy and not too sweet. The Dairy Bar is associated with the agricultural program at UCONN. When you drive in, you see cows on the hill behind the Dairy Bar. True or not, that gives me the impression that the milk and cream used to make the ice cream and the ice cream itself are super fresh. The ice cream tastes a cut above the ice cream at most shops. They have good flavor selection and a lot of topping choices. On my recent visit, I ordered a chocolate peanut butter swirl Sunday with peanut butter sauce and Reece's Pieces. The chocolate ice cream was rich, creamy and not too sweet. The peanut butter seemed high quality. We ate our ice cream in the courtyard behind the Dairy Bar and it was very peaceful. The UConn Dairy Bar is a craft creamery that opened on the University of Connecticut's campus in Storrs, Connecticut in 1953. The dairy operation was actually established in the early 1900s when the university was still the Connecticut Agricultural College. It wasn't until 1953 when the current storefront opened to sell dairy products directly to consumers, and it was called the "Dairy Product Salesroom" at the time. They sold ice cream, milk, butter and cream cheese. It continued to bottle milk until 1991. Today the dairy bar makes fresh ice cream from original recipes with fresh milk from cows located on the campus. Since 2014, they have also been producing cheese in addition to ice cream. The creamery produces 24 ice cream flavors as well as seasonal varieties such as peach (summer) and peppermint stick (winter). I have been visiting the UConn Dairy Bar for several years now. My wife is a UConn alumnus and she was the one who introduced me to their ice cream. Our most recent trip was a few weekends ago, which happened to be our son's first visit. I ordered a cup of Pumpkin Ice Cream (an autumn seasonal offering), my wife ordered Salted Caramel Crunch, and our son had a kid's cup of Vanilla. We were all very happy with our choices. Afterwards we took a walk on Horsebarn Hill and we saw the very cows who supplied the milk for our ice cream. I attended UConn for four years, and can you believe that I've never been to the dairy bar?! I took a drive up to campus to check out new changes and for ice cream! There is plenty of parking, and the inside is very clean and well-organized. They do require masks indoors. I ordered a medium cup with two flavors: blueberry cheesecake and chocolate peanut butter. Wow! It was probably too much ice cream. The ice cream was rich and creamy. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. My father also got a medium cup, but with three flavors. I don't remember the flavors, but he loved it. The only downside is the lack of seating. There are some picnic tables but they were full. There are several bright blue metal benches around the dairy bar but they were all turned down, and we couldn't sit there. I now know why people love this place so much. The ice cream is delicious and high-quality, and the prices are more than reasonable for the quality and amount that you get. read more

Was on a tour of UConn a few months ago and stopped here, did not disappoint, but the location is not ideal. Stopped here and had some of the best ice cream I've tasted in the state. They really craft it and keep it cold well. The servings for the price is also a big plus. Service was quick and polite, with mostly college students running the venue. Very friendly and enjoy working in the establishment. Lines were a bit long but moved fairly quick. The ambiance was very cool, and highlighted UConn's history and the Dairy Bar's role in the school. Decorations were also very cool! Overall a clean establishment. The only issue was that had I not been at UConn, I would've have been easily able to access this place, as it is in Storrs and far from other cities and routes. I was a UConn student who graduated in 2014 and LOVED the dairy bar. I recently was visiting Connecticut again on a baseball road trip (Go Yard Goats!) and decided to stop by the dairy bar for the first time in nine years. It was every bit as good as it always was. Less indoor seating but more outdoor seating. had a scoop of the cherry and a scoop of the husky tracks, it was all delicious as it always has been. And they also have cheese and milk but I had no place to put the cheese for hours while I was at the Yard Goats game. So no cheese for me. Just delicious,, sweet, creamy ice cream. The ice cream was good, the students working were efficient and got our orders correct, but the ice cream was good not great.I had chocolate peanut butter and it was barely noticeable that there was any peanut butter within the ice cream. My husband got a three scoop notcho average sundae and the tray it was served in was collapsing before he could finish it. There is no indoor air conditioned seating, but there are benches and a few picnic tables available to sit and enjoy your ice cream, although they are mostly under the sun with no umbrellas. They also have a refrigerator that has some food and ice cream in tubs to take out. Coffee espresso crunch and oreo in a cup. Their ice cream isn't too sweet and you can tell it was homemade woth the texture difference. The espresso crunch had a slightly icy texture compared to the oreo.
