I just read a review on your page that made me LOL some guy saying he was giving a bad review because you weren't wearing masks. He complemented the food and the service but said you shouldn't get business because you don't have masks on. Chicken salad was fresh and tasty. It came with chips, I'd prefer pickles or lettuce, something healthy. The service is counter. The two friends seemed ok with their choices but also didn't want the chips. I found the owner pushy because she brought my desert to me without waiting for me to finish or asking if I were ready for it or if I wanted ice cream. I was too full and now what do I do with the ice cream since we were heading to Flag. She scraped off the ice cream grr, now how do I keep it from getting sour. I ended up throwing it out. So, we were rolling through town and happened in here, heard it was good so we thought check it out. We were a little after the lunch crowd so it was pretty slow. Seated on the back patio because we had our dog with us. Lunch was delicious! Delicious burger on a fluffy brioche bun. Had the Pastrami melt on the marble rye. Also delicious! Came here specifically based on what appeared to be a good menu and concept. I arrived with my family, a group of 6. I was greeted by a woman who really didn't appreciate me carrying my hydro flask.... Really? In Arizona where this is almost a necessity? Multiple hostesses standing there just watching as this person (assuming she's the owner based on approach and verbiage) all but created a very uncomfortable atmosphere. I offered to leave it at the front and she than said we could bring it in but to not drink from it. We walked into a somewhat empty place and quickly decided it wasn't for us. Wow! This place definitely lives up to its name. I love the roast beef sandwich. It is so magically delicious. With the fresh crispness of the Kaiser roll to the mixture of mayonnaise and cheese. It even comes with French fries, and it's mind-blowingly good. It's one of my most favorite sandwiches I ever had. I think that if I lived here in Camp Verde, I would visit this sandwich place daily. The service here was superb. The lady who took our order was a sweetheart and super nice. I love her sense of humor and her hospitality. They also carry Miss Vickie's potato chips if you like snacking. I also saw homemade pies, bread pudding, and other yummy baked goods in the window as well. I want to try it all...someday. read more

Review: Please read if you have food allergies or dietary restrictions. I don't like to write negative reviews and my husband and I always go out of our way to be really nice to waiters and restaurant people because we know its a tough business. That being said, I feel obligated to share our experience at this establishment. My husband and I stay away from wheat. My husband has a really bad reaction to it. Normally we can just order a burger and fries with no bun and it's fine, but the fries here are battered. He can't eat them. So he asked the waiter if they can offer any substitute. The waiter said, 'she (we assume he meant the owner) doesn't like to serve anything else with the burger.' My husband saw other sides listed on the menu for sandwiches: cottage cheese or a side salad. The waiter said he would see if either of those would be ok. A minute later a woman came to our table, we assumed she's the owner. She said there's nothing that can be substituted for the fries. My husband explained that he has a food allergy, it's not just a preference. She still said no substitutes. He suggested tomato slices. She said sure. When the waiter brought the food he said 'sorry' as he set the plates down. I soon realized why. The burger patty with lettuce, onion and a few tiny extra pieces of tomato looked so small on this giant empty plate. I wish I took a picture. I felt really bad for my husband. A side note, I ordered the chili cheese hot dog with no bun and asked for the onions on the side. The waiter said no problem. When the woman was done with my husband, she turned to me and said, "you ordered onions on the side? It doesn't come like that. They're either on top or not at all. So, do you want them?" I was speechless. I've never heard of anything like that before. Funnily enough when my food came the onions were on the side. So I'm not sure why she made an issue of that. In retrospect we should've left when we realized there would be no side with the burger, but we were on a road trip, tired, hungry, and didn't know where else to go. Anyway, the food tasted good. The chili had pretty good flavor. The waiter was very nice. I'm sure if you have no food issues you'll enjoy this place. But, if you do, steer clear. read more

I had a hot pastrami sandwich and my daughter had a meatball sub We split a jalapeño macaroni salad and we got a couple pies for at home I did not try the meatball sub so I can't comment on it but the pastrami was delish! Really good pastrami and a healthy amount of it on the toasted crust roll. Simple sandwich. Pastrami and cheese. I put a little mayo and a lot of mustard. Voila! Perfection! Too expensive for what it is. I spent $32 on a salad, a small cup of chili, an iced tea, and a coconut dessert thing. I tipped $5 and some change. The young girl brought me a refill once and i asked one more refill on my way out and the older lady responded, "um yah I suppose we can do one more for you". I've never had anything here beyond the pie, but every time I have it, I'm overjoyed. They're baby pies, about 6 inches across instead of the usual 9+whatever-size-pies-usually-are, so they're just perfect for downing in one go (if you have any amount of self control, this could be a 2-3 time pie, idk). I always get the strawberry rhubarb pie and it is SO moist and not too sweet as many pies tend to be. You really get the flavour of the fruit inside instead of just plain sugar. Because if this, my mother calls it "healthy" pie to justify eating the entire thing in one sitting. I wholeheartedly agree. If I'm within 50 miles of the place I WILL go out of my way to get the pie! (All stars go to the pie) Note: They moved across the street from where they used to be, so that was a tad confusing at first, but the pies were as good as ever! read more

Been coming here for years as my family and I travel between Flagstaff and Phoenix. On this particular occasion as I arrived at 10:32am I was told that breakfast stopped being served two minutes prior and that my family would have to wait 30 minutes for lunch. When I asked to speak to the owner she told me it would be 20 minutes before she could even speak to me. I'm all for supporting and being flexible for small businesses, especially understaffed ones, but that flexibility should go both ways. I will look for other options in Camp Verde and suggest you do the same. read more

The food was great. I actually finished my burger which is something that never happens. The staff DO have an attitude, but not in the "mean" way, more like they're all obviously friends and feel comfortable. For example, the cashier gave her opinion on all of the ingredients I added or requested on our cheeseburgers lol. The whole experience felt like eating in my grandparents' kitchen in Central Texas.
