On our visit to White Rock today we wanted a cup of coffee and maybe a little brunch. We picked Uli's strictly because it was open and not busy yet but didn't know a thing about the place. Our server, McKye, brought us menus and was able to help my wife find something gluten free and corn free. If you have food restrictions you know how hard it can be to get much at many cafes and restaurants! McKye really was awesome at helping us. Now for the best part: the food was phenomenal! My wife had the veggie Benedict and she loved it. My wife is a very good cook herself and to say she loved it was high praise. I had the French toast made with brioche bread. Honestly, it was probably the best I've ever had! I also had a side of bacon which also was incredible. This is the first ever review I've done on Yelp but I did so because it was so good! read more

I am so disappointed in my experience on Thursday May 9/19. My daughter and I arrived at Ulis at approximately 8:20(I know this based on a time stamped photo I took) we were seated on the patio it took sometime before the waiter finally came over maybe 5-10 minutes. We were very hungry so we order our drinks and food at the same time, we ordered a liter of red sangria, white wine and garlic mussels and grilled Caesar salad.after about 10 minutes my daughter and I both commented where is our sangria, my daughter said well our waiter has been chatting with that table inside this whole time, so we figured he forgot. My daughter than looked over towards the bar and said maybe that sangria sitting on the bar is ours, shortly after our food arrived, the mussels were lukewarm over cooked and dry and the Caesar salad was only dressed on one half, we had a few bites and began contemplating just getting our bill and going elsewhere to eat, and than the waiter showed up with our sangria at least a half hour or more after we ordered it and a good ten minutes after our food showed up, I told him we no longer wanted it he seemed shocked. Minutes later a young woman dame to our table and said she was the bartender and she was so very sorry, I started to tell her it was not her fault as I gate making people feel bad, but then I thought no I'm paying a lot of money for terrible food and bad service. So I told her no it is your fault this is outrageous and I don't need your insincere apology bring our bill now we are leaving. We waited five minutes she never returned so we left $40.00 cash on the table and went elsewhere and ate. This is the 6th time in the past year we have been here the first 3 times food was great, and service was good, 4th time we showed up we were told they were closed even though there were 6 tables and it was 8:30 on a Thursday and google says open till 10pm and website just says "till late", the 5th time the waitress forgot half out order and was terrible, and now this. I will not be returning. I have been working in the hospitality in dusty for 20 plus years, I have been a server,bartender, general manager, owner and presently I am the accountant for a hospitality group. When I'm paying $25 for mussels and $12 for Caesar salad I expect that the food and service would be better. Shame on the owners and management, you need to do better! Night out with my mommy friends and there was nothing I didn't like about the place. Especially the service and the wine list. it was super solid and the sangria was delicious. I highly recommend Landlust and Spierhead. We had baked brie, crab cake, charcuterie, chowder and Caesar salad and all were yum. Pleasant service and cozy atmosphere. read more

Lots of restaurants facing the sea in White Rock, but just few of them deserve a visit. Uli's is one of those good places for a brunch or lunch in White Rock on a sunny day. The small patio is comfortable, just across the long pier. Excellent location, and also has a large salon inside. Service is really helpful and friendly as well. The food is excellent, with only one BUT: the baked potatoes. Too much pepper and too dry. Left the most of them in the plate. We ordered the mussels with white wine and garlic to start: tons of mussels, huge portion and more than fair for its price. The mussels where perfectly cooked, and the broth was awesome! Uli's burger is very tasty and carefully prepared. If you like burgers, this one is a good one! Between the different versions of schnitzel, I got the Forest, with mushrooms sauce. The schnitzel itself was good, not dry and quite tender. The sauce was good, very nice, with pieces of mushrooms on top. It comes with a small green salad and some of those terrible potatoes. Do not know if the potatoes are always like that, or if was not a good day. The crab cakes Benedict came with a couple of tasty and fresh crab cakes under the eggs, and the combination was original but also successful. I can go on for days about our positive experience here. My girlfriend and I visited for Valentine's Day. We were greeted by the owner immediately and the atmosphere was absolutely perfect. We were able to sit outside in mid February very comfortably. Hilary was our server, she was extremely sweet and built rapport with us immediately. It felt as if we knew her for years. She went above and beyond to make sure all of our dietary needs were met, and consistently checked with us to see how we were doing even though it was mid rush. THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE. The menu had so much variety it was almost overwhelming. I had anxiety choosing what we should eat! We got the burger (meat cut from locally raised cows, cooked medium). And the short rib pasta. It was one of the better meals I've had in my life. Hillary recommended we try the daily cheesecake which was almond/lemon. Yes, the burgers are great - the reason we, like most people, tried Uli's in the first place. But on this our third visit, we decided to try "the food". The schnitzel was absolutely incredible, especially with the speatzle. And at $19 on Wednesday, a steal! I would have paid $29. The other dish we ordered was the gnocchi (seasonal?). I can't rave enough. Besides the ham, rich sauces and the gnocchi itself (to perfection!), the "coup de gras" was the wild, freshly-picked yellow morel mushrooms. And not just one or two - a whole bunch of the mixed in with the heavenly (but rich) gnocchi. Can't wait to go back and try the other dishes read more

I was craving a burger - and thanks for a Vancouver Sun article I read - I decided to give Uli's a try. This burger did not disappoint!! I will go as far to say that this was the best burger I have ever had. Their beef is grass-fed and comes from a local farm in Delta (added bonus) and because it's ground in-house they ask you how you'd like it cooked. I decided on medium-well and it was still very juicy. Opted for the shoestring fries which were perfectly cooked - nice and crispy - and their homemade ketchup is out of this world. This meal will set you back $23 - which is a bit steep for a burger but it's well worth it, and I'm always wiling to pay more for local. Good beer selection and a great view if you manage to snag a seat on the patio. The prices are higher than other restaurants but it was worth it. I will definitely be coming back. read more

Enjoyed Ulis for the first time in a while tonight. We had a large group of about 20 people and we had exceptional service the entire time from a waitress named Sarah. My girlfriend and I and both past industry workers and we were so impressed at how well she dealt with the whole crew of us and attended to our tables. wonderful lunch spot! if the weather permits (like it did today), then you must sit outside and enjoy the view of the bay! they have a short, but good selection of beers, and their menu is simple but great. they definitely know how to make a really good burger also, which doesn't lack in flavour or size whatsoever. our waitress was also exceptional, being very courteous and friendly! she even suggested a spot to check out aside from White Rock, which was super nice of her! they're also pet friendly outside, so long as you keep your pets under the table. we'll definitely be checking this place out again on our next trip to White Rock! read more

Uli's has been my go to restaurant for years. I've ordered nearly everything on the menu (I live locally) and it is consistently excellent. The beer selection is always a nice selection of craft beers and it constantly changes. There are plenty of great restaurants on the beach but Uli's is a stand out. read more

Awesome place to eat brunch!!! You get to pick where you want to sit and the servers will come take your order. I had the smoked cheddar, pesto, bacon benedict it was AMAZING, came with salad and potatoes. They used organic egg and the egg was poached perfectly. Also had the oyster it was baked with cheese and spinach. My first time ever like eating oyster. It tasted so good!!! I also got to enjoy the nice view. Had a great meal on a beautiful evening! Had the pleasure to be served by a waitress named Casey, Great personality and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Enjoyed the bison carpaccio appie - large serving, full size plate - delicious!! The Caesar salad had a nice twist, romaine was slightly charred, great spin on the classic! For dinner my wife had the schnitzel Neptune, 2 large pieces smothered with homemade hollandaise and fresh shrimp! Amazing! I had the duck confit, extremely tender and delicious. I enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner at Uli's last Friday night. Our server was personable, professional and truly cared about the food she explained to us. We followed her recommendation and had the appy special of smoked chicken wings. They were fantastic! My boyfriend's schnitzel forester was delicious and a came in a very generous portion. I had a steak special that was perfect. The chocolate lava cake was wonderful and also came in a generous portion - we were able to share it and get our fill! Great ambience too. Its a great place.. too small to just go for drinks... Great for dinner... small restaurant with great atmosphere... Try the Ulis burger, it is insanely good. If you dont like a little pink in the burger, I would suggest ordering it well done. My favourite local burger. Great location on the strip. Pay for parking is a downside but its super cheap especially during the off-season months. Staff is very friendly. we had several staff ask us how our meal was and if we needed anything, that weren't serving our table. Highly recommended. read more

This place has the best burger hands down that we have ever eaten! The version 2.0 burger is so damn delicious. You have to add the mushrooms to it, it just takes it to the next level, if you wanna go all out, add bacon too, they're bacon is high quality. The fries here are super thin and crispy, like elevated McDonald's fries. We've had the calamari and the fish and chips as well, both are good as well. I had the catch of the day Halibut and it was excellent, just make sure you ask how much it is before ordering otherwise you might be in for a surprise. We come here every time we are in White Rock. It can definitely get pricey when you on drinks, the bill can easily be over $100, still it's worth it! read more

I had the elk steak with kale chips and potatoes au gratin and it was excellent. I ordered the steak medium rare and it was spot on. I'd never experienced kale chips prior to this meal and now I crave them All the time. They were a tad greasy, but tasty nonetheless. The potatoes looked simple and uninspiring (yeah, I know, they're potatoes), but I was actually a bit sad when they were gone. The texture was a fantastic accompaniment to their surprising cheesiness. Not too soft, not too hard-just perfect. They have a decent beer and wine list, breathtaking view from the patio, knowledgeable and hilarious staff and the atmosphere is a cross between fine dining and a place where everyone knows your name. I will definitely make the pilgrimage out to white rock for this place. I gave it a 4 because my meal buddy ordered the award winning 2.0 burger and she said it was dry. She was a little disappointed because she'd had it a few times and said the outcome varies from excellent to meh. This was our first time dining here for date night. We had a reservation and when we arrived we were taken to the most immediate table by the front door/bar area (not very romantic and cold this time of year) but we were given a much nicer seating option upon request. The ambience was very cozy and enjoyable. I was going to order the Iron Steak but was told they were out so I went with the 14 oz Rib Eye (cant go wrong there right? YUM) and when it was brought out our sever told us that they were out of the 14 oz as well so the chef broke down a 24 oz into an 18oz steak and that we could enjoy at no additional charge. It was cooked perfectly and served with traditional mash, broccoli sprouts and carrots (which were undercooked and I had to cut with steak knife but I still enjoyed them!!) and my fiancee had the Schnitzel Neptune which was a generous portion and also very good. This would be a once or twice a year type of place for us since it was a bit overpriced in comparison to other local spots.
