I was having an issue with my stove, so I called him In to fix it. Not only did he not fix it, he rudely dismissed me and told me "that's how it's supposed to work." Then he took my money ($95!!) & left. I've used stoves my whole life & never had the issue I'm having. But evidently this clown knows better than I. I contacted Matt about a repair for my washing machine. My plumber told me what was needed prior to me contacting Ulmer's. When I called for the appointment, I explained what my plumber told me along with the make & model of my unit. Pin-pointing a time when Matt would show up on the scheduled date was difficult enough - I needed to call several times to see IF he was actually coming, and approximately what time. This is a vacation home and I am not always in Ocean City and I was there specifically to meet with him on a Saturday. When he arrived, he grumbled about access to the back of the washer and said he didn't have the part on his truck (even though I told him when I scheduled the appointment the part that was needed and the make & model number). He told me he would call me later that afternoon when he returned to his shop to see if he had it in stock, otherwise he would have to order it and he would get it Wednesday (4 days later). He didn't call. Monday rolled around and I called him to see if he ordered the part? He was a little curt and short with me and stated "about an hour ago!" Wednesday rolled around - no communication from him. I texted him again after another week went by - no response, and 3 days after that I called him again to see if the part came in? He said it didn't but it was in the process of being shipped and he couldn't track it. I realized this guy was basically blowing me off. I had a rental coming in and needed this repair done. I went online and ordered the part myself - it arrived TWO DAYS later. I had my handyman install it for me. If I could, I wouldn't give any stars, but 1 star was as low as I could go. Why keep me waiting and lead me to believe he was actually going to return and do the repair? If he didn't want to do the job, then make something up like "I'm too busy" instead of keeping me hanging on! read more

Unfortunately,this is not the first encounter I have had with this company. I should have learned my lesson after the first time, however, as Matt Will tell you, he is the only one who services at the shore points. Sarcastic, condescending, and rude are but a few words I can use for his personality. This was not only directed at myself , but others in my home who encountered him. On two occasions, I was informed that he was looking for a part and will contact me. I am Still waiting for his reply. As a nurse, I too deal with the public. If I EVER spoke, or acted in a way that this man has to me and my family I would be fired. I believe Matt needs to learn that the customer is the one who pays HIS bills. read more

Ulmer's was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. The refrigerator in our rental house was not cooling sufficiently. The Ulmer's tech spent less than five minutes looking at it, said the dials were not set properly and it would be back to the proper temp in 24hrs, then left. When it was still not working after 24 hrs, the same tech came back and gave us the same answer. We were obviously not happy with that answer and when we asked if it could be something else, he said "he would not get into this with us" and left. I called Ulmer's on a Sunday afternoon not expecting them to answer the phone but just to get their hours. To my surprise, Tom answered the call! I told him the problem and he asked if I wanted him to come out today. I said Monday would be fine. Monday morning rolls around, I get a call at a little after 8am saying he's on his way! He arrived 10 minutes later, came in, fixed the problem and was out the door in 15 minutes! All that service for WAY less than Sears wanted to just "come out and assess the problem". Amazing! Sears wanted $160 just to come out and take a look. The window of time for the appointment? 8am to 5pm!! Do yourself a favor, call Tom save a boatload of cash and still have time for the beach! read more

Disappointed with repair on leaking fridge. Appeared seal on freezer was not right, but was told that was not problem and some clean up and a quick $100 visit for tips. Still leaks as gasket not sealed and will need to re-do. As a 25 year resident and oft-time client, I will not be back read more

Responsive, thorough , knew his stuff!!! Matt was very pleasant to deal with. We called on a summer Saturday and never expected a response that day. Would not recommend. They charged $345 for a 5 minute visit to fix a fridge that's not worth much more than that. The part price charged was $225 for a part which sells to consumers for $72-$78 on amazon or sears and probably much cheaper for them. They then charged $100 for the visit and 5 min labor (we are a 3 min drive from the shop). They were unclear about the pricing up front and when questioned about the cost were rude about it. They requested to be paid in cash and when we didn't have the high amount requested they said we could pay by mail. We agreed. We posted this same review on Facebook to which they heatedly replied and called us "non paying customers" because we chose to pay by mail (their post was made about 4 hours after the service so we couldn't mail anything in that time and we've never not paid in full). Wish we had used someone else. Due to their continued rudeness we lowed our rating from a 2 to a 1 Star. read more

Ok.. you have a full house for the week and the first thing you find out is your dishwasher is leaking. Looked on yelp and found Ulmer for appliance repair. Tom from Ulmer came over and fixed the leak. The price for the repair was fair. I was not charged more for it being a Saturday. They are located next to Dot's bakery, so if he's coming in the am, ask him to bring a dozen chocolate donuts. read more

Ulmer's has kept our appliances running for close to 35 years. Honest, efficient and always courteous. In fact, they were here last week for our 20 year old fridge, they did some CPR to keep it going until we can purchase a new one. This was maybe the 3rd time in 20 years we needed service on this fridge. The cost was reasonable and yesterday I received a check for $10 when they found an addition error on the invoice. WOW! How many repair services would do that!! I have called early in the morning and they have arrived in minutes. "I'm on the 34th street bridge, but I'll turn around and be there in a few minutes!". Your can trust the advise and recommendations they give you. "Simple is better and easier to repair and keep running!" Thank you ... your are the best! read more

Used this company for the first time today. Called yesterday for service on our range. Came today and promptly made the necessary repair. Service tech was very polite and professional. I was very happy with the price. Total cost was 171 dollar. Sears wanted $155 just to show up at my door. They also did not have an opening until next week. It's no wonder why they are going down the tube. Would not hesitate to use Ulmer's Appliance in the future. read more

RUDE!!!! As soon as this person determined that they could not repair what it was that I was calling about, they became very snappy and rude. Condescending! And literally tried to make me feel like a stupid person. I kept saying I don't know appliances and that they were the ones that did so that's why I was asking questions. Literally made me feel like I was supposed to know these answers. Absolutely awful! At one point the person interrupted me and told me he was too busy to answer my questions since they couldn't help me anyway. I will trash this company any chance I get.
