This review is for Lydia and the hair salon. My sister came in town from being out of country and her hair looked like a hot mess and even had this awkward rat tail going on.....Navy life...so I hear. So I woke up on Monday and called around trying to book two last minute appointments for haircuts, this would prove to be a task of tedious proportions....I called Ulta hoping they would be able to....YAY! They had two appts at 10 and 11....mind you I called at 9:14...so we showed up a few minutes late and Lydia met us at the chair with a smile and even called after us running a few minutes late to make sure we were still coming. So I sit down and Lydia is very patient and walks me through my wants and desires, offers her own suggestions and what she thinks is best for my hair. I'm not a super picky person when it comes to my hair, as long as it's longer then the norm these days and doesn't look like a three year old took a pair of Fiskers to it, I'm good! Once she starts cutting your hair she walks you through each step and explains what she is doing so you feel like you have a part in the whole process. She isn't scissor happy so you don't panic when your hair is being cut....girls you know what I mean. My hair looks great and so does my sisters....thanks Lydia! This place was fairly large inside. Parking was plentiful since it is located in a large shopping complex. Some of the associates were friendly and greeted me, some weren't as friendly. The store wasn't messy and was well organized. The clearance section at this location wasn't as vast, but there were some fun stuff to browse for. Overall a pretty good place for a makeup run. Bye Ulta, I'm done with you, too. This is the year of customer service for me. Businesses will earn my money by simply delivering the very basics of customer service. I'm not asking for anything fancy. Just nod hello or don't act like you hate me because I asked a question. My frustration with Ulta, in general, has grown over the years into near hatred. You can bet money that if I go to Ulta looking for a specific product they will be out of it. All the Ulta's in a 30 mile radius will be out of it. The last straw was when I was in last week, made my alternate selections since my brand was not in stock and made my way to the register. I swiped my debit card and it was declined. Same thing was happening to the woman at the register beside me. I said this to the check-out person and she YELLS "your card is declined for insufficient funds". I sincerely hoped for the floor to open up right then and there. Unfortunately it did not. I raced home, frantic, scared of identity theft. Logged onto my bank account, all is fine. Went and got cash from ATM, fine. Stopped at gas station, debit card worked beautifully. Ulta obviously has some problem with their system since everyone was getting declined but they were either too dumb to understand or didn't care. Either way I'm done. See ya in 2015 and we'll try this again. read more

Went to Ulta for some odds and ends - and ended up scheduling an appointment for a facial with Liz. Liz is great. Very knowledgeable and really takes the time to work with you and your needs. Very easy to talk to, and very trustworthy. She recommended a few different things to help my face out and I've made a follow up appointment with her to make sure I stay on the right track. She's helped me a lot and I'm glad I found an esthetician that I can see on a consistent basis. She's only there Thursday - Sunday and pricing is very affordable. The only con I have is that its at Ulta. Not to be snobby, but my ideal place for complete relaxation would be in a smaller, more intimate enviornment. It didn't help that during the massage portion I heard voices outside the doors at the hair styling section of the store. Other than that, everything was great and I'll be returning. read more

VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER! I have been to the ULTA Salon several times now to get my hair trimmed. Each time I made an appointment with Lydia who is AWESOME! The bad reviews on Yelp make be feel so bad for these girls who work hard and do an outstanding job. Lydia is very professional, friendly and meticulous when cutting hair. She explains what she is doing before and during. I absolutely love my hair cut. She cut exactly the right length, texturized the way I like it and I left a happy customer. I just moved to Atlanta and have been looking for a salon that offers Dermalogica, Amanda was great and made me feel fantastic...lovely hand and scalp massages while my mask was on. I got 20% off being a new customer and would go back for sure. The only downside is it's pretty loud outside with the hair salon right outside and you don't have the feel of a proper spa. read more

No one spoke when I walked in, I wandered around for a good 10 minutes trying to find something without ever being acknowledged by staff and when I finally snagged a girl to talk to me, she could not have been less helpful or polite. Giving this Ulta 2 stars is being generous. I went in this location today looking for Urban Decay eyeshadow. As I walked over to the display, an employee rudely informed me that they were all out of the Naked palettes. She never even asked me if I needed help. To make it worse, the customer that she was helping (her friend) laughed about the employee's rudeness. I decided to keep looking around because there were other things I needed. Never have I been to an Ulta that was so poorly stocked. Am I curious if the employees here clean or restock items? I will not be returning to this location. read more

I had the Dermalogica facial today with Lauren and it was a wonderful experience! She is very skilled and gave a wonderful, relaxing facial. My skin looks much better after her expert touch. I also really appreciated that she gently suggests products after hearing what my needs are, and she isn't pushy like I've experienced at spas. I've already booked my next appointment! I also enjoy the overall location of this store. Yes they can be out of stock on some items, but those are usually the ones they're having crazy sales on. My black friend just got the free Frekki blow dry June 8, 2011. I can't believe she let her leave with half straight frizzy hair because she wouldn't pay for them to flat iron it. I don't know if she could have done any better since they allowed her to leave like this. She did say the white person who styled her hair was very nice and tried hard to style with the brush she used. The stylist thought the bore brush wouldn't straighten good enough. I was reluctant at first to try Ulta Salon again because I had a HORRIBLE experience at the location in Newnan, GA, however I am very glad I did! Amanda worked on my hair, taking it from dark brown- almost black- and blue all the way to bright red. Not only was she super friendly the whole time I was there but the entire staff was as well. Not once did I feel like I was in the way or "taking too much time". She answered every little question I had and took the time to really work with my hair making the end result better than I could have ever imagined!! At the end of everything she suggested the best products for keeping my color fresh until I am due for touch-ups. I get SO many compliments on my hair everyday and I have Amanda to thank for that! I would definitely recommend the Ulta at North Point to everyone I know and will definitely keep coming back. This Thanksgiving I decided to splurge and have my hair done by a professional rather than doing it myself. I first visited Ulta the Sunday before Thanksgiving and was given a 'get holiday hair ready' coupon. According to the coupon, I would receive a shampoo, cut, style, and treatment for only $30 dollars. I decided to take advantage of the coupon on the day before Thanksgiving. I called the salon and asked for an appointment after 2:00. I was happy to learn that they have several slots available. I asked for the 3:00 slot and told her about my coupon. My happiness was shortlived. When I asked if the stylist she was scheduling me with was skilled at styling African-American hair, she asked me if I planned to have my hair flat ironed. The answer was Yes. Then she informed me that it would be $10 extra to have my hair flat ironed. I was ticked off because the coupon said shampoo, cut, STYLE, and treatment. I refused to pay the extra $10 for having my hair flat ironed and cancelled the appointment. I will call and speak to management after writing this review. read more

Best Ulta I have EVER been too. I have very, VERY sensitive skin and there was a very nice gentleman (I wish I remembered his name!) who helped me find something that I loved that I was NOT allergic to! He even tried every single product out on me! That day, I walked out of there with three things from T A R T E. And I love them all! They had an Esthetician in the store that day, and she helped me pick out some new skincare, and I love it! She told me what skin type I have, and Why some things were breaking me out, why I was getting oily, etc. I like that they had a sales associate at every conrner, so I could ask, if I needed to. This review is going to sound really nasty, but it is well deserved and long overdue. I echo the comments of another reviewer who said her dislike for Ulta has turned into all out hatred. Yesterday I went into the North Point location and decided that I am DONE with visiting Ulta stores, the reasons for which I will detail below. I received a Platinum reward coupon via email. It was for 20% off your entire purchase, either in store or online. I needed mascara and was also in need of more Rapid Lash. For those of you who don't know what Rapid Lash is, it is an amazing product that is applied to the base of the lashes to increase lash length and thickness (think Latisse without the prescription). Now you would think that anyone who is in the cosmetics industry would know the difference between a lash growth product and mascara, but the employees at Ulta North Point proved me wrong (more on that below). I went to the Too Faced makeup section to pick up my mascara. I then asked an employee where I could find the Rapid Lash. She took me to the other side of the store to show me where it was located, only to find that, GASP, they were out of Rapid Lash. Now had this been my first experience with needing something that they did not have in stock I probably would not have been so frustrated. But every time, and I mean EVERY TIME, I come into this store they are out of at least one item that I need. So I can feel myself getting justifiably irritated that yet another trip to Ulta has left me without a product that I need. Now I proceed to the checkout line. I explained to the girl that I needed to purchase the mascara today, but that I also need the Rapid Lash that they currently do not have in stock and that I want to be able to use my coupon on both. She says the coupon is for one time use, so I cannot use the coupon on the mascara today and come back when the Rapid Lash is in stock and use it on the Rapid Lash as well. She is quick to tell me "yeah, we don't do rain checks anymore". Hmmmm, I wonder why? Is it because Ulta never bothers to keep half of their shelves in stock anymore?? My next statement to her is that it's not my fault they don't have what I need in stock, and that I would be saving $10 on the Rapid Lash with my coupon. She gets on her earpiece and asks the supervisor/manager what they can do about the situation, but she keeps telling the manager that I am trying to buy two different mascaras. I tell her three times that, no, I am not trying to buy two different mascaras, I am trying to buy a mascara and a lash growth product. The supervisor comes to the front and I again, for the fourth time, explain what I am trying to do. She tells me to decide which product I'm going to save more money on and just use the coupon on that one product! I told her no, that I need the mascara today, and that if they had Rapid Lash in stock I would be able to purchase both at the same time and thus use the coupon on both. Why should I be inconvenienced by the fact that you can't stock your shelves appropriately? I finally decide I'm wasting my time and just asked her to call the store at The Forum to see if they have Rapid Lash in stock so I could just go to that store and purchase both at the same time. She tries to call but either doesn't know how/what number to call, or they are not answering their phones (not a surprise - that location is just as bad if not worse than North Point, but unfortunately these are the most convenient stores for me). During this process, I have time to go to the Ulta website, which is telling me that Rapid Lash is in stock at North Point. Her response is "yeah, our website is not really ever correct". Why does that not surprise me?? After a few more minutes of wasted time, I tell her to forget it and that I would just drive over the to The Forum. After getting back in my car, I decided I wasn't even going to waste my time driving over there and just gave up. I am ordering both online with free shipping (just very inconvenient that I have to wait for mascara that I need right now). Ulta, if you can't do any better than this, you need to close all of your storefronts and just go strictly web based. None of your customers want to deal with stores that are run by millennials who have more makeup on their faces than they do brain cells in their heads. I'm surprised these girls were even able to graduate from high school, and yet you let them run your stores? Your employees need more talent than knowing how to apply 10 layers of makeup to someone's face. Maybe try hiring some people with customer service skills, or heck, even just plain common sense would be nice. read more

This review is for the salon. I am a new customer and scheduled my first appointment. When I showed up about 5 minutes early I was told very curtly that the stylist was running behind schedule. For a new customer, you might think that they would be much nicer about it. I waited almost 15 minutes while I watched the stylist pick at her shoe, gossip with a co-worker, assist another customer in the beauty aisle and sneer at me when I hovered near the salon area. Normally, I would have waited longer, but given these "GO AWAY" signs - I paid attention. It was also interesting that no store manager seemed to be around or care. There was another lady running the front register, a second female employee applying coat after coat of makeup in the cosmetics station for the 15 minutes I waited. Not that I would, but I am pretty sure I could have walked away with several bottles of Chanel from the unlocked cabinet and no one would have said a word. read more

Quite possibly some of the worst customer service at this location that I have ever received in my life. I just moved into the area and I have always been a loyal Ulta shopper and was excited to check out this location since it was now the closest to me. The sales associates were extremely negligent; never bothering to help me while I was shopping. The cashier did not even acknowledge me and kept up a conversation with a co-worker instead of paying attention to me the entire time I was checking me out. When I tried to talk to her, she cut me off and resumed the personal conversation and gossip between her and her co-worker. When I seemed unhappy with the lack of service I had received and stormed away, I even heard the cashier remark about MY bad attitude. Even though this is the closest Ulta to me, I would much rather go up a couple exits to the one where I know where I will be treated right rather than go to that disgraceful excuse for a store again. read more

DANIEL is my favorite ever. I normally go to the Ulta at the Forum but decided to venture to NP this time. I met a very outgoing guy who didn't try to up sell me and was very honest about the products. I told him that makeup and I were not friends but I did want something to control my oily skin. He applied the tester powder and the results were so amazing, I completely forgot about how freaked out I was that the brush he was using had likely been used on other people's faces lol. He was so kind and genuine. I got everything I wanted to buy and will definitely be back even though this location is further away from me. read more

STAY AWAY if you are looking to get a good color, tried it several times (3's a charm ), never got the same person and my color and texture this last time were bad. You are better off at home with a box color or staying out in the lobby shopping.
