I came in to get my hair colored and left mortified at the horrible hack job that my hair was put through. This stylist left bleach in my hair for two hours and left it feeling like straw. My Hairstyle looks like she put a bowl on my head and dipped the ends in bleach. No blending, she was rushing bc she had another appointment so I felt super uncomfortable as her another appointment was next to me tapping her foot while the stylist was barley trying to blow dry my hair- she kept asking if I want her to finish blow drying to the point I gave up with this horrible experience and left with my hair soaking wet, looking terrible, and furious. Now Ulta corporate says it will take 3 business days to get back to me. Good grief. Don't waste your time trying this place. read more

I came to Ulta beauty for the Cécred hair care line. Once I found what I needed someone was nice enough to check out my one item at the register in front of the in store salon. Once we start checking out, she asks me if I want to sign up for rewards, which I reply no. I've only shopped here twice in my whole life, so I'm more than positive I won't ever use them. She then tries to explain all of the benefits of signing up, which I then respond no again. Seems like she was very irritated by me not wanting to sign up, and was very rude and dismissive after that. I payed for my item, I then said thank you and have a nice day, to which she responded, "yup". I did nothing but say I didn't want to sign up for someone I'm not going to be using, and got a horrible attitude for it. read more

Just wanted to have my hair straightened. I show up early just for them to tell me they don't have time to do it. I literally made my appointment yesterday and I drove an hour here just to have it straightened. I NEVER return anything, I usually just eat the cost however the product I bought legit did not work and I was still within the policies return window. With that being said I brought in the product with the receipt and the manager straight up told me yea it's not scanning maybe it's discontinued idk you'll have to go try the San Marcos location. The item is still in stock in store and online so I have no idea what she was talking about. Dylan Rey at the Ulta Salon in Sunset Valley is amazing! After using box dye, my daughter's hair was flat and brassy all around. I'd never tried the Ulta Salon before, but we were desperate to get in anywhere bc my daughter was so upset about the color, and Ulta had an opening. Dylan knew exactly what she wanted and went to task. At our usual salon, the colorist spends about 45 minutes putting the foils in, then someone else takes over the shampoo and toner. We usually end up with the top layer semi-bright (but not enough), and the underside mostly or all neglected. Hence why we resorted to box color. But Dylan took over every step from start to finish. He was like a master chef or professional artist who is invested in making sure that his art is perfect and not just "good enough" to get you out the door and on your way to make room for the next customer. And her hair turned out perfect, just really beautiful, and she's gotten so many compliments. I wish I had a pic of the before, but here's the after. Darlene the stylists was very rough when brushing my hair, washed my hair in cold water, and kept complaining on how much hair I have, and kept putting the blow dryer super hot into my scalp it was burn in my ear and neck. So upset with my hair "trim." I specifically asked for a trim. "Only remove the necessary ends because I'm growing my hair out." She asked if removing 2 inches was fine and I said yes, hesitantly. She asked about layers and I said I wanted long layers like she did before. She should have seen the slight difference she had put in before. After getting home and seeing my hair dry, 8 inches were cut off! I'm extremely upset. I had been growing that for years and it will take several years to grow it back. Wtf. Idk maybe 8 inches is considered long layers?! She should have asked are you ok with me making the shortest layer above your shoulders- to which my reply would have been absolutely not. Literally, the haircut of my life and I showed her a picture of the last haircut she gave me. I was pressured into including some $20 Olaplex treatment with my partial highlights and my hair still feels like straw. My hair has NEVER felt dried out or damaged after getting highlights before. It usually feels softer. The atmosphere is loud and chaotic. I guess some people might be into that but it was too much for me personally. Two different people were hassling me to check out products I wasn't interested in. At one point the stylist was trying to get me to get up and walk with her to the front of the store with foils in my hair so I could try and get some free samples. I had to firmly say no. read more

I had a HORRIBLE salon experience with naveah where the cut was not at all what I asked for. I left with a choppy and uneven cut minus all of the layers I asked for. When I went in to have it fixed I was met with two stylists who tried their best to fix it but told me the only real solution was to "hide it until it grows out". After talking about how horrible the cut was and how it never should have happened, 1 asked the other who did it and the other just gave her a look and she knew exactly who did it WITHOUT EVEN EXCHANGING WORDS. That tells me it was not the first instance of her messing up drastically. Then a manager was suppose to call me and never did so I called them and was put on hold for 20 min with no answer. I called back a few hours later and the manager tried to gaslight and lie saying she did call and I was wrong even though I have no missed calls or the voicemail she apparently left. The salon manager Francis was SO RUDE and offered no solutions. She was extremely sassy and said she didn't need to listen to me and repeatedly insinuated that I was lying about the entire situation. I will NEVER be back to this salon and plan to tell everyone else to stay away. read more

I had an issue with a delivery that came in damaged! One of the bottles was opened inside the package and ruined the whole box. I called this location to see what my options where on getting my products exchanged since they were damaged and was told they could help me. I went on my lunch break and had the worst customer service experience ever. The cashier was not very helpful. I had to explain myself multiple times. I told them I wanted the products, but just wanted them exchanged since the bottle was opened and had gotten all over the other products. I spoke to the store manager and all I had gotten was a quick apology and for me to choose curbside pickup so I won't have to go into the store next time. So disappointed in how things were handled and how I left with the same damaged products! read more

I've been seeing Gerard for years. He's colored and/or styled my hair from a pixie to passed my waist. He's great at knowing what will work for your type of hair & facial features while considering your lifestyle and maintenance tolerance. He's very professional but friendly and knows when I'm not feeling my best and need a pick me up. While Gerard was on extended medical leave once I saw Javier. I was apprehensive to try someone new but Javier was great. I can't speak to the cosmetic staff but I can't say enough great things about the salon. read more

Worst Ulta location I have ever been to. There are never enough employees to help people on the floor. There always seems to be only one cashier. There are no sponges or applicators for testers (I refuse to use testers on my skin at all, so I rely on the sponges to see a makeup product) therefore I cannot ever shop for new products here. I went in to compare the smell of two Giorgio Armani colognes (both top sellers on the Ulta website) and they did not have a tester for the more expensive one (for the third week in a row). When I asked if there was any way to smell it, the employee told me no. Probably not good business to not have the most popular cologne on display for customers to smell for so long, especially right before the holidays. Do they expect people to spend $135 without smelling a product first? As I continued, I noticed the store didn't have a tester for at least half of the fragrances displayed. I went next door to the Sephora (for the first time) in JC Penney where there were plenty of friendly employees, applicators and testers. read more

I got a foilyage, a trim, and some layers cut and my hair has never looked or felt this healthy. I've been here multiple times, and I always leave feeling like dirt. The people who work here never smile or make you feel welcome, and I have to ask them questions just to get some help, they gave me looks as if I was bothering them. I had some issues checking out trying to order something online in store, and the cashier kept mumbling, not speaking or looking at me.The managers around didn't seem to care, even though we were having trouble. Every time I come in, I go out of my way to be nice because I think maybe they're having a hard day, but I've encountered multiple different people who don't welcome the guests; and instead look down on them.
