I went in for my appointment today (04/14/26) 12:00pm, I got there 15 mins early. I waited about 5 mins to get noticed by the only stylist working. They checked me in and told me my stylist wouldn't show up until my appointment time. I waited, my stylist didn't show up until 12:09pm, then got me seated until 12:11pm. She didn't even know what my appointment was about, I had to explain myself. She then walks away, talks to the other stylist. Then came back and tell me she would need to bleach out grown hair and then do a root touch up. I told her that my appointment was total blonde and all over color. That's what "total blonde" means, bleach from root. And then I would need to have all purple, because they had made a statement that my previous hair color was an ombré. My previous color is outgrown and basically half of my hair is natural and the bottom half is dyed. Which I clarified that it wasn't it. She then suggested for me to talk to their manager which I did. She then comes to me about the same story, and again I explained that I needed "total blonde" because I've experienced this situation before where I had book a wrong appointment and they told me I needed "total blonde" then "all over color" for what I needed for purple hair. Manager then goes to tell me that my hairstylist isn't comfortable doing my hair. So tell me then why book an appointment with someone whose profile states they can do "total blonde" and "all over color" and then say they can't work on my hair. Such a waste of time!!! One the hairstylist shows up late and then only to be turn away!!! read more

Cedar Hills Ulta has the best staff! Jade and Amanda are so kind and knowledgeable. One stopped what she was doing and helped me find the products I had in mind, and the other helped me navigate the good deals from signing up for the app - highly recommended btw, saved money on my first trip. I like Ulta the store itself but the staff is disappointing... extremely fake attitudes! If you don't like the store you're at change it, and if you don't like the job you chose change it. I asked really kindly for a product check and she sounded annoyed but she said "hold on" to me (implying that she will check) and only "hold on" ....instantly puts me on hold for 7mins and then hangs up on me! I'll buy the product from a different store thanks lol.. doubt you guys even have it. One star because Yelp doesn't allow zero stars. The hours on the windows of the cedar hills store clearly show that they close at 9pm but the doors were locked at 8pm tonight. If they actually close at 8, that time should be listed on their window instead. I drove 35 minutes to make a return to (because their products are never as quality as Sephoras - yet I keep trying). When I arrived this evening and the doors were locked, I was confused and knocked on the window. One of the employees clearly looked at me and just walked away. The other one gave me an irritated look and said "we're closed." I asked why and pointed out the hours - she laughed and said "because we're closed." So rude and unprofessional. She could have said "sorry for the confusion we changed our hours." I just moved back to Portland from Montana where Ulta was open everyday until 9pm. And so are Ultas in other cities and states. I don't need to check the internet for hours every time I go to new seasons or the bank, etc - their hours are their hours. I've lived in Portland for 20 years (minus the one year in Montana) and it often astounds me at how rude, snotty and unhelpful people are here despite claiming to be so kind and inclusive. Lastly, go here if you want to be bullied into signing up for their rewards program (the rewards never come) when you say no thank you. You'll get eye rolls and sigs and irritation. read more

I went in for exchange and the shade of foundation I had was not in stock. The GM, was incredibly helpful and ordered it online for me (no cost for shipping.) I did not have my card with me only Apple Pay so the put my refund on a gift card so I could complete the check out. Nala and Gabby really went the extra mile to make sure I was taken care of. I'm a "regular" at the Bvtn Ulta and I just can't say enough about the staff there. EVERY time I walk in, I'm welcomed by someone! As I walk through the store, I'm asked by someone if I need help and often, I do! I feel like the staff knows the products well and if they don't, they will go the extra effort to find an answer. Teresa, who works behind the counter and on the floor, is SO friendly and SO helpful! She must've spent 15 min with me yesterday consulting with me to find the right product for my thick wavy/curly hair. I've encountered her on several visits and every time, she is just a gem. Sydney too up front is a rock star. SO sweet, congenial, helpful. Gabby too. I just can't say enough about customer service here. Well done! read more

The service I received was rude. it was my birthday so I went in to redeem the gift ulta offers. The cashier who helped me was rude and made me feel as if I was doing something wrong. He asked for my phone number plus email confirmation plus my ID. He gave me the gift and didn't even say anything. considering it was my actual birthday you would think he would at least be kind. Additionally, the young guy that helped me didn't even look well put together. For a person working in beauty, you would think they would choose people who look like they have knowledge about beauty. if Ulta is going to give out freebies then they should do it happily , not with a snarky and ugly demeanor. went in to get some foundation, the lady's just took me a section and pointed out one things and left. so then I'm running into another really helpful lady who actually helped me find the foundation I wanted which is great. I'm on my way to the counter. I saw that they were giving away free birthday presents which my birthday is on Monday so I was like great turns out the birthday present is only for people who are diamond and platinum members, but they don't advertise that, the foundation I bought is supposed to come with a free moisturizer which they are out of stock, I also sent a $$10 coupon that I can't use on what I bought because it doesn't qualify. All the others I have tried in the Portland and surrounding areas seem to be full of a bunch of attitude filled, gossipy, cold, and uninformed children that parade around with tacky make-up on thinking they looked snatched. I would give this review a ZERO rating if I could! I booked my hair color appointment online at 12:45pm. 1 day before my appointment, I got a phone call from "Brittany" saying the online system was messed up and had to push my appointment down to 1:45pm instead. I was very nice and understanding since it was an hour later, it was totally fine with me. On the day of, I got another phone call from "Neya" (not sure how to spell her name)... she repeated the same issue that Brittany called me the day before and I told her that Brittany already called yesterday and changed it to 1:45pm. So now it's changed again? So Neya put me on hold to go ask the hair stylist to double check and somehow returned saying they're running behind and pushed my appointment back again another hour to 2:45pm. At 1:30ish I called in just to make sure that my appointment was still on schedule because I got there super early after work and was already waiting out in the parking lot. "Mikayla" the hair stylist said that she was not able to take me in until 4:45pm. This was super frustrating, because I had to take time off from work to fit the appointment in with my schedule. It would be more simple just to tell me that they had no time and needed to cancel my appointment instead of kept pushing back my time. That way it didn't waste so much of my time waiting around. Overall, their communication with each other was terrible and I was one of the unfortunate that had to experienced it. I seriously DO NOT recommend this cedar hills location at all. I gave Ulta at Evergreen parkway a call and luckily they were able to take me in at 2pm. Thank goodness. read more

My daughter and her friends, both colored. Went into ulta to look for makeup while I was walking around the cedar hills. When I met up with them they had told me that a white lady with textured hair and bangs(a worker) would follow them around the whole store to the point where they would purposely walk ALL over the store, regarding their interest to what they were looking at, And would turn the corner just to see the lady standing there pretending to work and watch them, she would also budge in on their conversations, making it clear to them that she was listening, which made them uncomfortable. they had another worker there who was colored but did not seem to be giving my daughters the same treatment. I am very disappointed by the treatment these young girls had received being targeted by a lady who is far too much older to be treating young colored girls like this. During black history month as well, what a shame. read more

This was a few weeks back, but felt it was relevant to mention: I was quite upset and frustrated to receive a call the morning of my appointment saying my salon appointment was being cancelled because the stylist was unable to make it in. I needed the appointment that day as I had a wedding coming up, I have also had this appointment booked for awhile now - but when I called back to see if I can just do it another time or stylist - they said they only have one stylist in today and she is fully booked. 1) It's was a Saturday - how do they only have one stylist. 2) Ulta all are the ones that cancelled on me and offered no solutions. They called me 2 hours prior to my appointment, canceled - then said we could try to book for another day..... I have been an Ulta customer for a long time now and this was so disappointing. I had to find another salon to do my hair today. When I sent the above into Customer Services they said "We completely understand your concern so we will be passing this feedback to the Store Operations team and asking that they reach out to you directly in order to further address your visit." I have yet to hear from Store Operations at this location. In the future I will shop online for some product - but going to another salon for my hair. read more

But the cashiers NEVER seem to tell you about your rewards points and ofcourse I don't shop there enough to know about my rewards points till AFTER I get my receipt. I have $6 in redeemable points and she couldn't even mention that to me??? They'd get a lot more happy customers if they did there job thoroughly and in the benefit of the customers satisfaction. Note to add, they won't apply the $3.00 coupon to a $15 purchase if it's more then $15?! Makes no sense. I'm giving you more money then what's being asked. Make it make sense. read more

Call before you go- their posted hours are not accurate. I've tried to go twice recently in the early evening more than an hour before their posted closing time only to get there and all the lights are off and doors locked. My wife and I been going to this Ulta for two years. I've been to a lot of different ones. But this one feels like home. My puppy grew up there. She was allowed in from the time we got her to now. It's her favorite store too. What made it so nice was one of the managers, an attractive blonde woman in her twenties. She was smart. Friendly. Helpful. Easy to talk to. And easily my puppy's favorite person in the world. My dog pulls me into the store. Then runs around looking for her. It's amazing. And thus manager was always happy to see her. Sadly, that manager is leaving. Ulta. She was a huge asset to your company. You're never going to be the same without her. And my poor dog is gonna moss her deeply. Regardless. This is still our go to store. I love it. Great location. I recommend this Ulta. But my wife and I and our doggie will miss that manager. read more

Stop here first before you head to Sephora - you will most likely be able to get some of the things on your list cheaper here. There is a salon in the back of the store but don't bother - I got an overpriced haircut there once and it was also weird to have shoppers milling around me as I was getting my hair done. read more

This is the first time I have updated an update of a review but here it goes - I wish there was a lower setting than a 1 star at this point. So the manager reached out because my friend called them to complain about our experience. I only received a generic email from the company but she got a phonecall and she referred her to me since my experience was even worse than hers and I lost money because of it. I was happy I at least got some reaction. I will say I always respect businesses that contact me for good or bad reviews to get more feedback. I never write stuff to get freebies but it is nice when companies give me back what I lost which in this case they did. She offered me a refund for my makeup lesson that was more like her dumping some stuff on my face and asking me what I wanted to buy. The price was the same as their facials were so I thought, "hay - why not!" Honestly had I just received that service I would have been perfect - no problems etc because, again, Karli is a goddess so go see her and get a facial for serious...the facial was pure heaven and worth every penny. Was this the end of the story I would be putting I actually intend to go back just for her and just for facials. As an extra my friend and I were offered "gel manicures" to show their apology etc..... We were like, "oh how neat" and were excited since it is a new thing and such. Keep in mind, I do my nails myself twice a week and I have long natural nails I get constant compliments on. So, mine looked better than my friend's and, as it was, I mentioned three times, "don't you need to remove the rest of my nail polish"...no she kept saying it would be fine... I will leave out the full extent that having a girl whose skin was bleeding and peeling touching me with her bare hands really freaked me out but she did and I was. I could not believe a salon had someone with a skin disease touching me without gloves. I will just describe to you the end result - I was grateful when I looked at my friend's nails and mine that I chose a light color because even though you could see my former nail polish through the new stuff and I planned to go home and now CHISSLE this shit off my talons since she kept adding coat after coat hoping it would cover which it did not and now my hands weighed ten pounds each! My friend got a dark purple and so it was very obvious this girl did not earn a badge in fingerpainting...oh it was horrible. This was what was given to us to apologize. I will leave off some of the unprofessional things this same girl said during my treatment - not sure if she was trying to be friendly but I was just very uncomfortable. So...memo to self - buy stuff at decent prices here without dealing with anyone except Karli when you want a facial. read more

This is the most unprofessional and rude beauty service/make up store we have ever run into. Mistakes happen, over bookings, stylist cancellations and even straight up not being able to accommodate a guest for what you booked for them happens. It's life. BUT then to be rude to said customer, have no empathy and just say "well I know we booked you your time sensitive beauty appointment well in advance but we can't accommodate you now" with a disrespectful and dismissive tone is hurtful & unprofessional. I made sure to have confirmed texts of my two appointments. My mom & sisters showed up at 10:50am. They told them to wait and that was fine. They waited inside the store for an hour. And then lo and behold, they canceled the 1pm appointment... while they were in the store. This is after they saw them, gave verbal confirmation of our 11:45am & 1pm and asked us to wait. Side note, the services we booked were for hair. Our girls have beautiful curly hair. I'll let you speculate as to why this happened. After waiting for an hour, they say our appointments just can't be accommodated and they'll instead give us one appointment at 4pm if we want to come back. Mind you, my mom was waiting in the store with the kids for an hour and within that hour they canceled both of appointments and gave her disrespectful service. She said maybe you guys don't understand my english but this is why my daughter books everything and she has receipts. I did, & I spoke to them and even told them to re-listen to the call I made to the story where they definitely booked me for the right service i asked for. They just told me we can come back at 4pm for one appointment. We decided to leave. The entire process was honestly one of the most disrespectful experiences with a beauty service/makeup store we've ever had. And mind you, we spoke to the manager today... who was no kinder or respectful. They never apologized, they never took fault. just said go away and come back another time. Never, ever stepping foot in an Ulta again. What everyone has been saying about their garbage service is true. Save your energy & money. update: the manager apologized to my mother, gave the girls goodie bags when she saw the screenshots of them confirming my appointments. she also took down my number and said she'll call. While I appreciate the sentiment, this experience crossed the professional and decency standards I have for beauty service providers when sending my mother & sisters to them. It takes extra love & affirmation to uplift a child or woman with curly hair bc of the way the world treats it, and boy, the experience here led to tears and conversations about how special the girls and their hair are. They deserve better. Being a beauty service/brand is a responsibility in this day and age. Ulta continuously fails. read more

No ones greets you, checks to see if your doing okay and when you're at the register they still don't say much to you. Not friendly!! My most recent trip to this Ulta store was my last. After overpaying for a so-so highlight job (it looks barely different from when I went in), I purchased a $12 item and many smaller items. When I got home, the $12 item was not in my bag and I was overcharged for several of the smaller items. I called and was told that the cashier put the item in my bag according to store video (I checked my car and purse multiple times--I assure you the item did not make it out of the store; someone is lying (hint: not me!)) and that yes, I was overcharged for some items but if I wanted the error to be corrected I had to COME IN. So I did come in--and returned everything. Except, of course, the item I didn't receive to begin with. Also, Shelly was the most lethargic and barely helpful employee I have ever encountered. Instead of showing me where an item was located she simply pointed me in the general direction. She didn't put the item in my bag that I was charged for at checkout and when I called, she answered, "Ulta, this is Shelly" and that was it. I felt like saying, "Cell phone, this is Nicki" to find out her response to an equally non-inquisitive statement. Not only all of the above, but dear corporate office, how about putting out a weekly coupon that customers can actually use on most of your products? read more

After being a little too aggressive with some toning shampoo, I wanted a specific cleansing shampoo that I could only get locally at Ulta. My past forays into this store have been lackluster at best, but today was a completely different and a welcome surprise. We entered the store and two employees greeted us immediately. Then as we went further into the store we were offered help by someone that was super nice and when she wasn't sure about something, she ran to grab another employee that was more familiar with the store. The sales themselves were convoluted and confusing, but the employees were accommodating and helpful about it. Best of all, when we finally made our selection and checked out, the coupon applied to the highest priced item that was already on sale which was awesome since normally that isn't the case! Also, everyone was decked out in pink for breast cancer awareness which was cute (and they're supporting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation which is a fantastic organization that puts 88% of funding toward research!). All-in-all this was the kind of shopping experience that leaves me feeling like the employees don't hate me for intruding with my existence and shopping there, and that encourages me to return to Ulta again in the future. read more

Wow. This location is the worst Ulta I have ever been to. It's small and cluttered. It doesn't look like somewhere you would buy high-end products. It sort of looks a thrift store in here. Nothing is organized, tons of stuff is out of stock, and the customer service is horrible. The staff acts like you are bothering them if you try to ask a question. I'm a platinum member of their rewards card (you need to spend $450 to get that) but they still treat you like crap if you don't go in wearing a full face of makeup. They completely ignore you. I was looking for a $50 product and when I asked for it, two employees were just standing around talking and they didn't even check. They just told me they don't have it. I mentioned that it shows it is available and in stock on the website but they just told me that I am wrong and that they are not going to carry it. They have tons of stuff by this brand, so that doesn't make any sense... Especially since the website shows it and other locations have it. Do yourself a favor and go to the Tanasbourne location instead. The staff is kind of rude there too but they will at least try to help and probably have what you need in stock. read more

I'm kind of baffled by the horrible reviews of this location. The staff here have been nothing but helpful and kind to me, especially Nala. I often come in with a friend's curious two year old and they're always so good with her and give her little treats, like a makeup bag. If I come in with a visible injury, the staff always offers extra assistance in carrying my purchases and follows up with me the next time I come in, to see how I'm feeling. Stock isn't always amazing and sometimes customers ruin testers and steal things, but I don't think it's fair to blame the staff. read more
