I stopped in about three weeks ago and spoke to a very nice woman named Grace. She was very welcoming and told me they do eyebrow laminations. She gave me her card and a pricing sheet. I let her know I'd be back in a week or two. I stopped in two weeks ago and was met with a lady. She did not give me her name. I let her know I was interested in having my brows laminated. She said they don't do laminations. I told her Grace and their pricing sheet said they do. She then said that yes, they do laminations but they often don't come out well. She was, for some reason, discouraging me from getting my brows done there and clearly did not want to help me. I walked out very dissatisfied and disappointed with her customer service or lack thereof. I'm not sure if it's because I'm African American - but she was very unwilling to help me. Did a walk in! This picture does no justice. But I would like to thank MARINA for doing my eyebrows!! Super friendly and sweet. She took her time on making sure they came out right. Very hard to find a eyebrow lady these days. I usually go to nail salons to get them waxed but I never come out satisfied! I have a scar on my left eyebrow but she worked her way around to make them look even! And the best part was that they were really friendly w my toddlers. From what I hear. This place is run by a boss who fires people in a span of a two day notice. A boss who does not care about his or/and her employees, a boss who does not keep their promises. The staff is great, never been an issue, I come in here pretty regularly. Even when they were centered in Progress Ridge. A lot of the good ones leave because you guessed it bad management. Or who knows they were probably fired out of nowhere. Respectfully I think this place should go bankrupt. Especially with the lack of management and care it takes to run a business. Whoever the boss is here should consider a new line of work or at the very least treat their employees with respect. Support this place if you'd like! The employees will always give you 100% satisfaction not realizing they themselves deserve better than what they're being given. Careless boss. Selfish boss. Avaricious without caring for the backbone of their slowly dying business. This was my first time going to Brow Betty and the service was nice and friendly. After doing my own eyebrows for 2+ months during the pandemic I wanted to get my eyebrows done by a professional. I asked for just a clean up because I was happy with my shape. During the appointment I felt some pain from the tweezers but I didn't think much of it. When she showed me my eyebrows I felt like there were thinner than I had asked for but I thought maybe it was just the lighting. Throughout the day my eyebrow was hurting and I had a burning feeling underneath my eyebrow. I looked at myself in the mirror and noticed I had twizzer marks (cuts) underneath my eyebrow which explained the pain. I wouldn't expect a professional to make that kind of mistake. I wish I could give 5 star and maybe was just an off day but I walked out of there with uneven and two totally diffent looking eyebrows the length on both was completely different and my brows have honestly never looked worse, I ended up having to go somewhere after and pay even more to try and fix what they could. I have really full thick eyebrows. Well, at least I did. I asked for a slight trim and that I like them full and natural looking. She waxed over half of them and now they are little strips. They also aren't even. I didn't want to tell her otherwise she would take more off. I got home and cried. My boyfriend looked at me and asked "why would you do that? You looked better before. Please don't do that again." I cried. I hope they grow in fast! I will never return. read more

I have been going here for quite a while (approximately 2 years) and I'm a bit at war with myself over the low rating because on one hand, their staff has always been competent and professional AND YET.... the chairs are devices invented to torture you. Low back pain, hard head rest, no way to feel comfortable at all. AND YET... you are held captive to undergo an ALREADY painful procedure... having your hair pulled out by the roots!!! I have told the staff how uncomfortable it is (which they immediately acknowledge, followed by an apology and a bit of a shrug) yet the owner either isn't hearing this feedback, or doesn't care. I will begin looking for another salon that provides comfort instead of MORE PAIN starting now. I've given this outfit my time, money and plenty of chances. I got my brows waxed once upon a time (somewhere else) and thought I'd just maintain them via plucking since they were now shaped. But I learned that over time, neglect a hair here and there and you end up with uneven, misshapen brows that really need a professional's help. And so: Brow Betty. Michelle measured and shaped my brows, waxed as comfortably as one can apply hot wax and rip it off, and I have even, lovely brows now. No they weren't terrible probably to begin with, unless you are 1) me or 2) a professional, but now they are perfect. So yay for Michelle! Agreed with other reviewers though that the place really lacks ambiance. It's pretty barren. Some lively paint on the wall, artwork, something to brighten it up would go a long way. Also, the chairs are pretty uncomfortable (no arm rests, so your arms just hang down while you're laying back...?) but I'm not sure if that's standard in the waxing world or what as it's been a while. I've been going to Brow Betty for years, since the beginning when Jackie opened her first location in Bridgeport. When she opened Progress Ridge I started going there. I've only had one less than perfect wax and I didn't realize it til after I got home and could see several stragglers. They were happy to address the issue for me, which I thought was great customer service, especially since I am a returning customer and that one so/so experience wouldn't have kept me from coming back. AH!!!!!!!Bad and uneven brow job that was just done on my 17 year old. The gal literally gave her two half circle shapes and took away her good shape she had. It looks like 2 clown brows. I have been to this salon twice both times to have my eyelashes tinted. I seem to have a lot of blonde lashes that are light at the end so the eyelash tint almost doubles the look of my natural lashes. What's not to love about that? I had an appointment for my first visit and the second time they were able to help me with a short wait. I really appreciated that as it was almost closing time. The salon is pretty and the employees were very friendly. I was surprised when I read the reviews because I got nothing but love here. My guess is they have been working hard to improve the customer experience and it's working! This location is in progress ridge so it's surrounded by yummy food locations, nail salon and a movie theater. If you are thinking about an eyelash tint I would highly recommend this place. read more

I'm consistently underwhelmed with the service at this place. Once you get into a chair, they do great work, but I'm just not interested in jumping through all the hoops it takes to get there. Rude receptionists and estheticians that can't be bothered to show up to appointments are just the tip of the iceberg here. I recently returned to the Portland area after spending 9 months living in a small town on the Oregon coast where there was only one place that offered waxing services. There I had the unfortunate experience of my brows being waxed into oblivion - think Pamela Anderson ca. 1995 - even though I stated I preferred my brows to be somewhat thick and natural, just well-shaped and groomed around the edges. D'oh! So they had plenty of time to grow back in and I did an okay job maintaining a decent shape, but it just wasn't clean enough - you know what I mean? Ergo - I Googled and found Brow Betty and decided to take my chances. The pluses: the tech took her time and was thoughtful about the shape. She showed me where she was going to remove hair and how she was going to follow my brow bone and make the arch. My brows did end up mostly clean and nicely shaped. They were a tad thinner and a bit more pointy on my arch than I wanted, but they still looked like me, even if a slightly angry me, and I was thankful for that and instantly felt much more put together. Unfortunately, the wax tore off a fair bit of skin under my right brow, from the tip all the way across almost to the inner edge. And by fair bit of skin, I mean, enough that it scabbed. Ouch! It did feel a bit raw after my service - noticeably more than my left - but I thought it was because it had been so long since I'd been waxed and I'd simply forgotten how it felt. Nope. It was noticeably redder as well, but I still didn't think that my skin was missing until later in the day when I washed my face and it was still red and was burning. Also, there were still stray hairs that I removed with my tweezers - and if I could do it at home with tweezers and not so great lighting, the tech should have been able to see it too. I don't know why she didn't clean those up. I gave three stars because my brows were decently shaped. Above average for the coast, but I do have higher expectations for Portland (or in this case, Beaverton), ESPECIALLY for the price. I expect the obvious strays to be cleaned up - whether by wax or tweezers - and I expect not to have my skin torn off. I could do that on my own, which is why I pay someone to do a better job. I've had a more pleasant experience and similar results - without the torn skin - at a nail salon. At least the waxing room there is private! As other people have stated, the atmosphere leaves much to be desired, but if my brows were perfect and my skin left intact, I'd suck it up and deal. I won't be going back, due to the overall 'Meh' experience and results, along with the price. read more

Honestly, the worst brow experience of my life. Harley waxed my brows and did not stop talking the entire time. I was laying there thinking, how can she even focus on my face if she is talking so much. Not only that, at the end of my session she says "okay don't freak out but you have some redness where I took a little of your skin off." I was shocked when I looked in the mirror. So shocked I was speechless. When I got home and looked in the mirror is when reality set in. ALL the skin between my eyebrows is gone!!! I've been coming to this location since it first opened and haven't had much of an issue with the service or the staff. However, I recently brought my aging mother in to her appointment which we made several days in advance. Our experience was very poor. 1) The treatment my mother received was appalling and so unprofessional. 2) the original person she made the appointment was not in that day and no one called to notify us in advance. You provide your phone number upon booking so it's not like they couldn't call us. 3) Her appointment time was 3pm but they moved it out later without telling her or myself. To sum up, our conversation with the receptionist was probably THE rudest I have ever had in a salon. When we inquired when she would be seen by the esthetician it was at that time we were told she was sick and a man named Donovan would just have to "squeeze" my mother in. The receptionist didn't smile, was very defensive when we were asking very simple questions about when the service was going to happen since it was 10 minutes after her scheduled appointment. They treated my mother like a nobody and completely ignored her upon her arrival until I came in after parking the car. I was so shocked about this we left without my mother receiving service because it was clear we weren't welcome. read more
