I am giving the store a rating of one star for my most recent experience there. I have been to the store twice for salon services, but I have been getting my hair done regularly at Ulta in a different state for years. I recently moved to the area, so thought carefully I would continue getting my hair done at Ulta. I went in for a partial highlight after having a full highlight done around eight weeks prior with a different stylist there. I booked with the first available stylist because I had an event coming up out of state. I figured partial highlights isn't something that should really be a challenge for a stylist lol. Boy, was I wrong. There were a lot of red flags when I sat down in the chair as hard talking to the Stylist, but I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. She said she's been doing hair often and on for like 20 years, which was the first red flag. She said she only works weekends, which is another red flag and said she's pursuing a degree in another field another red flag. When I had arrived, I told her I wanted to be as blonde as possible. When she was mixing the bleach and developer I heard another stylist talking to her about being surprised my stylist she was using a certain brand of product, which I assume was the bleach. The other Stylist said something along the lines of her being surprised because they usually only use that type as a last resort when they're out of the main type. She was very sweet, but she really didn't do a good job. She asked me if they ever put me under the hairdryer and I said no. She then put me under the hair dryer. I didn't feel like the bleach was on my hair long enough. I requested my stylist use the toner in the notes from my previous visits. When she was washing my hair in the bowl, I didn't know what she was doing. I had to ask if she was using the Ola Plex. She also was like scrubbing on strands of my hair. I felt like I was sitting at the bowl for 30 minutes and she was rubbing the top of my hair strands constantly. It was very irritating and causing me a little bit of pain honestly. I kind of wondered if she was freaking out while I was at the bowl and trying to add more bleach and maybe that's why I spent so much time there. I don't really know what was going on though. Usually I'm left at the bowl while the toner is on and also after the OA Plex is applied, but she had her hands on my scalp constantly. After she use the blow dryer on my hair and I got to look at it. I was just kind of observing it in the mirror and didn't say anything right away. I noticed it looked brassy in spots and I didn't noticed and knew BLONDE really. My roots mostly looked untouched. I didn't say anything but she spoke up and said something like, "oh it looks kind of yellow or brassy in here because of the light." Idon't remember if she said, yellow or brassy necessarily, but I didn't think it was a good sign she mentioned it before I did. Another Stylist interjected and said "oh your hair looks good." This was the same Stylist that did my hair the first time and the only reason it looked decent is because it had only been maybe eight weeks since SHE had done it lol. If you look at the pictures, you can see there's like splotchy areas, and it doesn't even look like my roots were touched. Some areas are brassy or kind of orange looking. These photos were taken nine days after I left the salon. I trusted them and hoped that maybe it really was the lighting. I was in denial. I wasn't rude and left a tip. I washed it a couple times in next week and it still didn't improve. I was busy traveling and then called Ulta I believe on day 11 or 12 after my appointment and spoke with a manager. I requested a partial refund because the results were poor and I've been a customer with Ulta for years. It's disappointing to spend so much money for a service and get poor results. The manager said she'd have to discuss with the GM and call me back. The manager did call me back later in the day, and said that the GM denied my request for any type of refund because I didn't call within seven days. I asked her how I was supposed to know there was a timeframe that I should call in. I really don't see how that's my fault that I wasn't informed that there is a policy for when I should call and request a refund or report I am unhappy with services. I think that's very unfair. She said the stylist has only been there about a month, so I guess that makes it OK for the service quality and lack of info. She offered me a discounted toning service, but I'm not interested at this time. Overall, I think the customer service is very poor and I think everyone should know that they have the seven day policy because I was never informed. So please, if you're unhappy with your service there, call them up within seven days. read more

I've been getting my hair highlighted at this Ulta location for the past five years. My visits to this salon have always been a good experience but the best experience is when I discovered Beth! She's not only a true expert when it comes to hair but she's also super sweet and fun to talk with. She truly makes my day when I go to get my hair done. My stylist today was not great. She herself was lovely. But she needs more training. Getting your hair done is a luxury. I just came from a facial and my hair was covered in oil in a ponytail. Definitely ready for a wash. I was so excited because the person I spoke to over the phone was so fantastic and these ladies got me in at the end of the day! This is what I'm accustomed to when it comes to Ulta! Everyone is always so wonderful! As soon as my stylist started to shampoo me, I noticed quite a few things were off. Her shampoo technique was timid, and she put shampoo on my ends, took my long hair and started to scrub the ends of my hair. She only shampooed one time and really didn't get into the oil in my hair. There was also a chunk of shampoo behind my ear that I had to show her and ask to please rinse off. As she continue to rinse my head in the bowl, the water Started to run down the bowl into my shirt. The back of my neck got really wet. It was uncomfortable to say the least but I was also concerned because I was planning on getting a blowout and my shirt was soaking wet and if my hair hit my shirt that would completely defeat the purpose of the service. I also requested a deep condition treatment. The product used for deep conditioning at Ulta in Bozeman is part of the Redken line. It's a product I've never been familiar with before and I wasn't thrilled with it. My hair by no means felt deeply conditioned and I ended up paying $22 for this added service. Before I sat in the chair to start my blow out, I had to go to the bathroom to take my shirt off because it was wet. My stylist was kind enough to give me a robe to change into and she put my shirt in the dryer so it could dry. I tried to relax but the red flags were making me feel awkward. I just really didn't feel like I had a deep clean for my hair nor did I feel my hair was conditioned enough. I sat down in the chair and started to watch her blow technique. She raised the small blow dryer above my hair started to brush my hair with a regular brush, she did not put on any heat protectant whatsoever. After grabbing another piece of my hair, I looked at the first one that she blew out. It was still damp and frizzy. The reason I get a blowout is to take the frizz out of the hair with the heat from the blow dryer! This is a blowout technique used with a round brush. I requested that she use a round brush. I watched her technique with the round brush and the blow dryer , I could do a better job. I don't go for a vanity service, including hair, nails, facials, and make up just to see the service turn out below mediocre. It was my day off, and if I knew the service was going to be like this today, I would've just gone home and washed my hair myself. I wanted to treat myself. Before my stylist could pick up another piece of my hair I told her I was done. I didn't want any confrontation but I really was frustrated. I just looked at her in the mirror and I said you know what, I think I'm just gonna go. I just wanted to leave. I didn't want to tell this person how to do their job. I wanted to sit down have my hair washed, feel clean and get a blowout that I was going to pay $69 for, and I wanted it to be perfect. I wasn't comfortable. I didn't wanna ask her anything else and I didn't want to show her or tell her how to do a job that she is supposed to know how to do. When she handed me my receipt, it said $69 was going to be the entire service wash deep condition blowout. I said I'm not going to pay $69 when you just washed my hair. Her exact words were, you asked me not to blow out your hair. Basically implying that this is going to be the cost that I pay because this is the service that I booked. I was livid! I stormed to the front of the store and requested to speak with a manager. I did not want any sort of confrontation today. I was tired and overall so frustrated. My emotions were high. The manager was wonderful. I let her know that I didn't want to tell anyone how to do their job. I was already uncomfortable, and I didn't feel I was in a good place of explaining myself at that point in time. I really just wanted to leave. I felt awkward. I felt weird and honestly, I felt ugly sitting there with my hair, soaking wet in a giant flannel jacket because I couldn't put on my shirt . My shirt was still soaking wet. The stylist grabbed it from the dryer for me before leaving. I trust the Ulta brand for multiple reasons. Please know that this is not going to deter me as a customer, but this individual needs proper training when it comes to washing hair and how to style it. This is not an attack. This is just genuine concern and upset. I never felt that way leaving Ulta before. I came directly home today , re-washed my hair let my deep conditioner sit for a couple of minutes like I'm used to, and I blew out my own hair today. read more

Savannah is not only an Elite Ulta hair stylist professional, she is also a very good listener & compassionate human being! I was very nervous about having anyone cut my hair after a bad experience in summer 2022, but I needed layering badly in my long, "cornsilk-fine" blonde hair, so I took a chance--& am so glad that I did! Savannah listened to my hair concerns & to what I wanted to achieve, & she did an excellent job making my hair look great while keeping the length! I just got my brows waxed and laminated here and it was such an amazing experience. I had never gotten my brows laminated and the lady walked me through the whole process of what it was as well as the after process. I came to find an expensive product to purchase and was ignored for almost 15 minutes asi waited for someone to assist. Customer service is non-existent for anyone over 60. There were 4 sales assistants wandering the store, offering help to young women and men (mostly millennials) and when I asked for assistance, I was ignored because she was "chatting" with a young couple about living in Bozeman. I will never visit this store, nor buy their products again. I've been shopping here ever since they opened, but no more. I own my business and if I treated my customers this way, I wouldn't have a business any longer. I guess Ulta needs competition in Bozeman! read more

There was a gal walking around and would ask if you needed help finding anything but was so rude while doing it. I felt like I was inconveniencing her with asking questions. well... I still like all the products here and the gal who's doing face treatment. But I start disliking how dont seem to want to resolve problems regarding my coupon. As you read my previous review, I had this salon coupon which I could have used when I first tried the Salon service - as it is said 'first time user' only, but couldnt do it because the associate who ring my transaction had no clue what so ever and the other associate gave me wrong information saying that I could not use my coupon because the price was on 'special' - which was NOT. So this week, I came again, excited because I was told my the Manager that she had solved my problem by putting a note in my appointment that I would use my 20% coupon and had an OK from her. But it's the same old problem again, there was not any note in my appointment receipt and then I finally found out that in order to use coupon in the Salon, you HAVE TO SHOW /HAND THE coupon when the Salon print the 'salon service receipt' for you. NOt in the main cashier in the front . Well, it's like 'hellooooooooooooo, how am I supposed to know about it if no one told me anything! there's no ' Do you have coupon to use?' asked from the associates and why is it so hard to fix my problem??? it's only freakin' $4!!! I have been getting my hair cut and styled at the Ulta salon since January or February of 2013 and my husband has been getting his hair cut here since they opened. They do a great job! I love their rewards program, you earn points on everything from products to salon services and can redeem them off of your purchases. They regularly offer $3.50 off coupons in their mailers and the newspaper. If you have questions on any beauty product, they will take the time to answer any questions or concerns. This store is amazing. I go in Ulta normally at whatever city I am in even for essentials I would get at Target just because I love it so much and their point system gives me incentive. They have a rewards program that is free to join, and once you join, all and any purchases you make, earn points which accumulate into dollars that you can spend in the store. If you want to know how many points you have when you are checking out you can simply ask and then they will tell you so that way you are able to use it on your currant purchase. I purchase my q tips here, my razors, lots of different supplies. There is a salon in the back and it is amazing, not to mention convenient. They sell professional hair care as well as stuff you can buy at the grocery store and some of the main stream brands. But it is hard to find some of the brands that are the professional nicer ones and it is nice that it is all right here in one location so if you are shopping or multiple things you know where to go. We went into Ulta today. Our kid was ready for make up. Vanessa was very helpful! From cleanser to foundation to eyeliner, she showed us some good options and gave great tips on applying, etc... so grateful my kid had a great 1st experience!! I wish I knew all the names of the people who helped. Someone else helped my mom with a dry skin issue and we had our brows waxed. Ok - this was exactly what I had hoped for going into Ulta in bozeman for makeup help. I walked in and immediately was greeted by Josh (I think his name was) - did I need help? Yes!! I gave him a few key words, lightweight makeup with spf, nothing too cakey, bla bla. BOOM he found me the perfectttt makeup. I absolutely love this stuff. Teint miracle by Lancôme. He color matched me to a perfect shade. I NEVER would have found this on my own and it is exactly what I needed. I would recommend this makeup to anyone who wants the perfect summertime lightweight makeup.. so then I asked about blush without sparkle in it. He found the perfect blush, perfect shade! Pink pop by Clinique. Now every time I do my makeup I am thrilled about the minimal amount that I wear! I just got my haircut here by the salon manager and I'd say it was a decent experience. I feel like she more interested in getting to know me then focusing on my service. When she washed my hair before she cut it, parts of my head/hair was still dry afterwards the wash. It was very rushed meanwhile that's the part I want to just relax and get a scalp massage. Absolutely great service at Ulta's salon! I worked with Molly, and I would highly recommend her for your skincare and makeup needs. She was a fabulous teacher and consultant, and showed me how to apply several different makeup looks to match my style, price, and personal preferences. She went above and beyond by setting me up with all the products I needed, and made a detailed step-by-step guide for me to use at home. I went to get my hair cut at the salon and could not be happier. I've been to four separate places in town before, and have been so disappointed in my hair cuts after. And frankly, I have very straightforward and boring hair. Jennifer at Ulta took one look at a picture on Pinterest I showed her, one look at me, and gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. She was so fantastic and professional, and I'll only be seeing her from now on! And an added bonus? After two successful hair appointments, I noticed my stylist started to squeeze people in while my hair was processing. Tonight my 35 min. processing took 50 min, my 20 min toner 35min and still I waited with conditioner that I didn't ask for, for another 15. The Coup de Grace was my hurried end trim and the flat ironing of my damp hair. My haircut and style cost $62.00 which I didn't know until I got to the counter to pay because she conviently folded my slip before she handed it to me. If I'm going to spend $152.00 bucks it's not going to be to have my hair fried off! Buyer beware! read more

I enjoyed my first visit to Ulta today. I was able to test products and get helpful advice on other options available to me in regards to price and brands. The woman helping me was straddling the fine line between being super helpful and kind of pushy. I wanted just to browse the store and take it all in, but was asked if I needed help every 10 steps it seemed. The quality of product and services here is great. My wife went to Ulta to get her eyebrows waxed and trimmed for a television commercial. First, I want to mention that she has to look similar to her last commercial, because they are adding to previously filmed footage. Normally she goes to the Helena Ulta and she loved the job they did last time. However, this evening she came home from the Bozeman Ulta crying. Her eyebrows were uneven and they had taken too much off the top and too much from between. After voicing her concern to her stylist, her stylist said, "I only took off a couple hairs!" My wife had specified exactly what she wanted. The error is unbelievable. It will take weeks until her eyebrows look remotely normal, and she will look very different from her previous commercials. This is store I can always count on for good customer service. I am always greeted at the door when I arrive. The young women working there are professional, friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help. Ulta is one of my "go to" stores. Love their variety of products. I have been to Ulta stores in a many cities and have had good experiences. The Bozeman store is one of my favorites. No attitudes here, just good customer service and a nice selection of products. read more

I got my hair done at the salon and they totally messed it up. Then when I told then about it they tried to talk me into liking it and offered to redo it at a discountedprice! I really enjoyed getting a hair cut this past Sunday - and style from Erica, a lovely person who was fun to talk to as well. She took her time and really seemed to know how to layer hair. Best hair cut I've gotten in a while. I am visiting family here - from Southern Colorado and every hair cut I get there totally stinks on some level. I was really relieved to get a good one for a change. If I ever moved back here, I'd pick Erica. Highly recommended. I never thought to come to Ulta for any type of salon services. I'm a little snobby about going to high end salons. I had a regrettable $200 hair color at a salon in Bozeman and was extremely dissatisfied. I was trying to save my roots for a visit back to my trusty salon in CA. I came into Ulta looking for a product and watched as Tasha worked on someone with beautiful blonde hair, pretty close to what I was going for and used to. Tasha was very sweet about helping me with product and offered her next available appointment to me. I declined, as I had already booked an appointment with another "high end" salon and a stylist unknown to me. I thought about it for a couple of days and ended up canceling the appointment and booking with Tasha. I can't speak highly enough of her. She spent a very long time on me and got my hair back to a pretty blonde despite my long roots and brassy yellow color from the last dye job. Tasha is really great at what she does and so easy to chat with. I spent over two hours in her chair. I usually get really antsy when I'm getting my hair done and want to jump out and leave after the color processes. I had no such feelings while Tasha worked on me and couldn't believe how much time had passed when she was done. I'm so happy with my color and I'm looking forward to my next visit. It was very serendipitous that we ran into each other and she is amazing. Highly recommend. The prices are very reasonable ($115 with a discount for first time services). Thank you, Tasha! I am a total Ulta addict. I recently moved to Bozeman and was in need of a good stylist, so naturally, I inquired about the salon at Ulta. I was told to check with Britnie, the master stylist. I called and she had me come in simply for a consultation so we could discuss what I wanted and get a price point. She had me scheduled a few days later! She is the cutest hairstylist I've ever had! She was so easy to talk to and so funny. Unfortunately, my hair didn't turn out quite as I expected, so I called the store and they had me scheduled to come in two days later (it was Christmas Eve). When I walked in, I felt horrible for having her fix it, but she was all smiles and still so sweet; no complaints at all about having to fix my hair. She is wonderful!! The store has great products and prices but I hate going to the Bozeman store to shop because the moment you walk in the store the sales clerks are all over you and ask you over and over again can they help you but it is not sincere and the same person asks you twice before you even get a chance to shop. Today I went in to return something I bought online. I had no idea that I could not use the invoice included in my order but needed to print out an email from my online order. The clerk tried to help me and had to call a manager. The manager just kept repeating the same thing while I was trying to access my account. Long story short - the sales clerks should try being a little more genuine and actually listen to the customer. Everytime I have shopped there I feel like the sales clerks are following customers around not to help but to make sure they are not ripping things off or something. It may seem trivial but the sales clerks make me uncomfortable not eager to shop. read more
