I love, love, love this place!! This is the girliest, girl-girl place that can take Boring Bethany and turn her into Diva Debbie. I could spend every dime I have in here and still find something else I want! I went in there with a very long birthday wish list. I got everything I wanted but one item that was sold out. All the staff in makeup was extremely helpful and walked me directly to every item I named. My mom was with me and was looking for blush but didn't know what color she wanted. The consultant was able to find something for her skin tone and sensitivity and make a suggestion. I was also able to find a nice wood handled brush, shampoo and conditioner for my curls, hand lotion for my winter skin, and some nail polish for the season change. The only thing I was missing was a glass of wine and some friends to make it a full blown party!! Get me out of here before I need to refinance my mortgage, y'all. read more

I went into Ulta today not sure what item I needed to help with the dark circles under my eyes. I already use a really nice concealer and foundation yet I still have darkness under my eyes. I was having trouble finding anyone to help me for about 5 minutes as all the employees were busy helping other people. I was able to catch a male Ulta employee's attention as he was walking up. He determined that some peach-colored under-eye color correcter from Urban Decay would help with the darkness. Then he completely redid my under eye makeup and it looked amazing. He also sold me on a Lancome primer even though I wasn't planning on getting anything else. I wish I caught his name but he was tall and had a full face of really nice makeup on. There are few times I take this much time out of my day to write a review, but I just left the store and I am HEATED. I was barked at by a very aggressive woman right when I walked in the door. She told me to let her know if I needed anything and promptly disappeared. I had to interrupt a stylist having a very, um, colorful conversation about potty training to point me to Urban Decay. There wasn't a single girl working wearing makeup, which is normally fine, but I need cosmetic advice from somebody who knows what they're talking about in a cosmetics store! Am I crazy? After giving up and deciding to leave, I spotted a very long line and was thankful I decided not to buy anything. read more

I was very disappointed with the salon. My daughter had an apt. for a shampoo and blow dry. We were 8 min. late for our apt. and because of that she told us it would have to work her in with her other client. 2 hours later we were still there! She did a trim and another stylist had to fix it and finish the blow dry. We will NEVER GO BACK! read more

Wish I could have given this store negative stars.While there is a fabulous selection of almost everything beauty related and the store is clean, the girls that work there are rude and could care less about helping customers. As a matter of fact, I tried to get the attention of two different girls who saw me and quickly made a bee line in the opposite direction so they didn't have to help me. Thankfully I found what I was looking for without assistance. I will never go back to this particular Ulta. I'll stick with the one in Apex or Holly Springs. read more

I like this place a lot. You can test all kinds of makeup, buy haircare products, and perfumes. They have the regular drugstore brands, but they also have the more expensive stuff too. This is the only place I know that sells a full line of Bare Minerals cosmetics (which by the way, are fantastic). Sure it's expensive, but some of their stuff is well worth the money. read more

I feel the same way about Ulta as I do about Wal-Mart - I hate to spend my money there, but sometimes their huge selection leaves me with no other option. I'm much more of a Sephora girl, but Ulta just leaves me in a daze with their 50 foot aisle of brushes and 864 varieties of flat-irons (that's an exaggeration but seriously there are a lot). Their make-up selection is a little more downmarket (you can buy Revlon at any drugstore, so why bother), but it takes me at least an hour to decide which hair products to buy. So they get the three-star rating not based on product selection or organization but on their staff. I stopped by a few weeks ago to buy a new flat-iron after mine died, and no one offered to help or even looked at me when I walked in. There were four people waiting in line to check out while two employees ran registers and a third employee stood behind them TEXTING ON HER CELLPHONE. Seriously, it's cool if you're on break but at least get away from the cashwrap if you're not going to help. When I finally got to the register, the employee checking me out was completely snappy and rude, as well. To make matters worse, a few days later I found the same flat-iron I bought at Ulta for $130 online for $80. I'll be taking it back tomorrow, and I certainly don't expect them to be courteous for a return if they can't manage a smile for a purchase. read more

This was my second time at an Ulta store, and my experience was disappointing. The first Ulta store I visited was in Morehead City, NC and that store was flawless. This store gives Ulta a bad rap. Regardless of the great products Ulta carries, this store was a mess. There was spilt makeup powder near the check out counter... And checking out took forever. The staff kept having conversations out loud, yelling over customers about personal matters. It was awkward. And the woman that helped me barely looked me in the eye, and didn't stop doing what she was doing before I approached her to help me. They seem short staffed, and the staff in general did not provide good customer service. read more

I like Ulta. I have been shopping here for years. I get my hair done by Catherine. She does a great job with colors and cuts. I also have gotten facials here with Misty. I just wish the customer service was better. The ladies who do the checkout are not very nice. Just yesterday I was there I did a number of purchases, plus I got hair color done and asked for a sample and she told me that they had no samples. I left and I remembered only later that I had received an email telling me that a wella root amplifier was for free with any purchase. Not friendly. read more

Had an appointment at 11:00 this past weekend and there was only one girl working so I was taken late. Told her exactly what I wanted done, in which she agreed to what I said but I didn't get all the layers I asked for, nor the bangs I showed her on pic. ?? Now if she asked me what I wanted, why didn't she deliver? I couldn't see what she was doing in the mirror as I was sitting way low. All the blow drying I thought I would have had poofy hair on the crown. I've been to many places like this and it's like they just don't listen or forget. At one time I had put layers in my hair better than what she did. It was very flat. The whole point of me getting my hair cut was to get some height and poof in my fine hair. read more

I normally don't come to the Ulta in Cary, but I decided to go in the other night because I was in the area. No one offered any sort of help as I perused the makeup aisles, which didn't bother me because I already knew the exact products I wanted to pick up. However, if I had needed assistance, that would've been a problem. When I took my items to the counter to check out, the cashier was very disconnected and seemed annoyed by my presence. I understand that working during the holidays can be trying, but that's no excuse to be unpleasant to customers. read more

I have been coming to this Ulta ever since I was a child and have had a mixed bag of experience, but my most recent experience has caused me to want to only go to the Morrisville location. I came in looking for the Anatasia Beverly Hills Modern Romance Palette. The palette was out of stock which I didn't find to be too big of a deal as it was a popular item (a lot of products are out of stock in this location in case you're wondering...I found that bit weird and not very good for customers...but I digress). When I went to check out at the register with my other items I asked the girl when they expected to get the Modern Romance palette back in stock. She replied that they came in Friday mornings and typically sold out midday (you think they would order more if they sold out that quickly...). I just nodded and joked about how popular the palette was to which she rolled her eyes at me and told me I should just buy a Morphe pallet and it would be better prices and quality and told me that I was "following a trend and not actually caring about the product itself". I was taken back and upset by her comment to me. First, she was promoting a product Ulta doesn't supply and second, what does it matter to her what makeup I want? How rude can you be? So this place gets a 0 on customer service for me. This location has gone downhill and I hope they fix it soon! read more

When I first walked into Ulta, I thought WOW a womens dream store. They have everything in a one stop shop. I walked around to take a look and put a few things in my basket. I walked over to the shampoo's and was greeted with a very nice girl who offered to help me. She also informed me that there was a salon right here in the store. I thought even better, Its time to have my hair done and this is very convenient . So I went over to the counter to make an appointment and the lady was nice enough to even give me a 10% of all professional haircare. I made my appointment and went on my way. A few days later I came in for my appointment and the manager asked me my name. I told her and she introduced me to my "stylist". During my services the manager kept coming over to talk to me and the person doing my hair. At first it was ok, but then she began to talk about things I thought should not be talked about in front of a client. She was very demeaning towards the stylist who I thought was doing a wonderful job. She was talking in a joking way but I could tell that the girl doing my hair was becoming upset about it. I tried to change the subject, but the manager became very rude to me. I was not at all impressed with the way she was "managing" the salon. I would not go back there for any other services nor would I ever want to work for someone like her. Although the stylist was very professional and kind, I will not be going back. read more

I went to Ulta over this past weekend and usually I have a good experience but unfortunately this Saturday I had one of the worst. This is because of three employees who were working the afternoon shift at the makeup counter. I walk into Ulta and head toward the makeup section, everyone is working with clients besides these three older women, they are facing me and see me seeking help and the whisper to each other and walk away in the opposite direction. Confused, I walked toward them where they are too busy talking to each other when only a foot away from them they finally make eye contact with me and say can I help you. The attitude was as if i was interrupting them. I then say yes, I'm looking for a lipstick shade of purple. One of the three ladies says well maybe this brand will have a shade and just looks at me. I said well do you want to help me or at least show me where it is? The lady only showed me shades of pink, wasn't listening to what I wanted and I ended up looking for the color myself.
