This is my favorite Ulta in the area. They tend to get the quickest in-store releases especially when it comes to new brands that are sold by Ulta most recently they already have a full lip display for Dior. I went today with the intent to just buy mascara but saw they have a Chanel counter so went to swatch some things I haven't been able to see in person. Sydney helped me and was so knowledgeable about the products and not pushy at all. She matched me with a foundation and concealer perfectly and even helped me find a few other products around the store while helping multiple other customers! Garrett was another associate that I met today who was so friendly and kind and gave great recommendations for lashes and mascara based off of my preferences! Again, not pushy or sales-y so I didn't feel like he was trying to force his opinions or products on me. Both were an absolute pleasure to be around today! And while I left spending wayyyyy more than I wanted lol I'm excited to go back to see them and when they have the full Dior counter in the upcoming weeks! read more

Some time ago my husband set up an appointment with Ulta for a facial. I was paired with Morgan. She has asked me a ton of questions on my skin care regimen, as well as my health, including any sensitivity to products. She explained some of the process and then allowed me to change. The towel to cover myself was large enough even for curvy/plus sized ladies like myself. She did an amazing job. It was comforting to know I was in good hands. I live around this ulta so this is the one I usually go to. I have been to the one is White Marsh though. A few things I have noticed about Ulta in general: 1. I usually am the only woman of color in the store whenever I go but, that doesn't really bother me at all. What does bother me is that I am constantly followed around. I work in retail so I understand the watching the floor but, really. No one else will be follows except for me. I have never stolen a day in my life nor do I plan to. Nothing especially not make-up is worth going to jail over. 2. I never really have received proper help when I go to this location. I have only really been helped twice by two lovely ladies. Whenever I need help they either start helping me or brush me off. 3. I love ulta actually more than sephora but, at sephora no matter how busy I always get assistance when needed. I also get the employees welling to help me if I'm not sure how a color might look or foundation they will take the time and assist me. 4. I do like hunt valleys remodel but, they never have enough of the ulta brand items. Also it was a little messy last time I went in there which was Tuesday. Most of the testers were nasty and barely and cosmetics. I hope ulta steps their game up read more

Horrible place. Never have same people working longer than a month. No one has any knowledge about products. If I ask question about product they start reading me from back of bottle. I can do that my self. Return policy is terrible. They make it very difficult to return. I rather go Sephora or Nordstrom for quality service. read more

Horrible shopping experience. I've lived in the Towson/Lutherville/Hunt Valley area my entire life, but forgot how out of touch & ignorant people can be. Ive never been followed around a store! I entered the Hunt Valley Ulta with my friend, who recently had a birthday and wanted to browse for new make up. Less than a minute after entering we were approached by a large white employee asking if we were looking for anything in particular. This of isn't a problem, most associates are just doing their job when they ask such a question. However, it became very obvious why she was so eager to ask. When my friend kindly replied that she just wanted to browse for a moment, the associate became defensive and replied "well I was just asking". We both found it a bit odd how defensive she became, but continued to move through the aisles. As we made our way around we notice the same associate continuing to follow us. She literally followed us across the store. We noticed her 2 more times as she ignored other (white) shoppers. It's a shame we're not past this. It completely ruined our shopping mood and I don't plan on returning or ever purchasing merchandise from a company who's staff are so culturally incompetent & engage in such prejudice behavior. I hate to play the race card, but this was incredibly uncomfortable. Mostly because it was so obvious. read more

Unfortunately the customer service here is non existent unless you are checking out. I came here on Sunday and prior to coming I called ahead to make sure what I wanted was in stock. After waiting on hold for roughly 4 mins for someone to answer the phone I was assured that the product was in stock and there were plenty available. After arriving 10 mins later, there were no products in stock nor were any associates available to answer any questions. I recommend coming to Ulta if you do not require help or assistance with anything. Considering many of the stores have recently undergone a new layout, customer service both on the floor and at the register would be greatly appreciated. read more

I kid you not, the woman who was helping me yesterday was so beautiful I had to look away. I'm usually not even into the made-up look and just looking at her made me want to don a smoky eye. But, more importantly, she was very helpful and super knowledgeable. She stuck with me from aisle to aisle-- through my crisis about my discontinued concealer to stories about my boyfriend's oily skin. She was full of great suggestions and advice for every aspect of makeup and skin care. I forgot to get her name but I hope to go back and find out so she can get proper recognition for her passion for product! As a store, Ulta is pretty much the best invention ever- drugstore and department store brands side by side. You are allowed to buy and try the drugstore brands on the spot and return as many times as necessary , so that you can compare with the department store brands and get the product best suited to your needs regardless of price. I also notice they are caring many more eco-friendly brands these days, which is great! There is also an in-store salon, though I've never tried the services. It's impossible not to get at least 5 more things than you actually came for when you step into Ulta. read more

Went to hair salon with one haircut in mind. Took pictures and discussed with stylist even asking if it was doable AND could she cut my hair in that style. After she seemed finished, I voiced my disappointment in the traditional bob I received a blunt cut I definitely didn't want or ask for.. it appears she was more anxious to get off for the evening as I watched her leave with another hair dresser. I absolutely prefer Ulta to Sephora and here's why: - selection of everything at every price point, form drugstore brands to upscale salon brands - They have a clearance section in the corner where you can sometimes find awesome products for really cheap (discontinued brands, or getting new packaging soon) - Less annoying crowds than Sephora. This isn't really the fault of either store, but the shopper at Ulta are much more tolerable. The Sephora near me is in Towson and the two or three times I've stopped in, it's been over run with make-up crazed women/girls fighting (literally stepping right in front of people) over mirrors trying to smear yet another shade of lipstick on their mismatched faces. I also recently found out about their return policy when looking for a skin serum. I was told that the policy was 60 days, and when I did have to return it, because it didn't work for me, it was no problem at all! read more

I go into this Ulta quite a lot because I live in the area. When I went into the store today, I was very disappointed. I asked one of the women who work there if she could help me find something I needed but I did not know the exact name of it and she responded: "well, if you told me what it was then I would know". She was very abrupt and rude, and I did not appreciate that. Also, when I was checking out I asked the woman if Ulta gives out birthday gifts because it is my birthday on the 8th and proceeds give attitude and says that it will tell me in my email. I showed her the email, and she just hands me it and does not say happy birthday. As a loyal customer to this store, I was very upset. I do not think I will be coming back. read more

I TRIED to love Ulta, I really did. There is far more variety at Ulta when compared to Sephora, I think that they have a better skincare and haircare section and they also carry drugstore brands, so it's a one-stop show in that regard. I am going to try to not make this review a comparison between the two stores. There are a couple of things about Ulta that irk me and I just cannot get over them: - At this Ulta location, I have had a difficult time tracking down a salesperson to ask questions. And then there is the interaction with the salespeople. For the most part, they are very nice. But every time I'm treated like I am absolutely clueless (is it because I always show up after the gym with no makeup on? Who knows...). I can't get over the one time I was walking around the store once holding a sample of a moisturizer I had a question about, looking for a salesperson. I found one, and before I could get a word out of my mouth, the woman approaches me, takes the sample out of my hand carefully like she was removing a dangerous object out of a child's hand, and goes "No, no, no, sweetheart. This is a *sample*. It's for everyone to try. You're not allowed to buy it!" The whole encounter rubbed me the wrong way, but it sort of sums up my interactions with the salespeople there. - This applies more to the chain as opposed to this particular store, but whenever I am sent a coupon via email, it is not valid towards most of the items in the store. I don't see the point! Ulta's selection in brands is great, and I definitely see why people love it and prefer it to other makeup retailers, but I will probably always prefer Sephora. There are a few brands that I like that Ulta sells that Sephora does not, but needless to say I just prefer to buy them online and save the hassle of dealing with this retail location! So disappointed. Took my girlfriend to her hair appointment she made the day prior and they told her she would have to wait 1-2 hours beyond her scheduled time bc the girl in front of her is taking much longer. First off, how bout you call and tell us that so we could be prepared to wait or reschedule. That's good customer service. Secondly, learn how to appropriately budget time for each customer. Who knows how long the people scheduled after my gf had to wait. It was extremely frustrating to waste a trip there with no apology or consideration for our time. LOVE Ulta. It's a bit of a ride for me but it's worth it. And the ladies up here are really good at helping you find what you need. I needed a blush one day and wasn't sure what color to get, but the lady picked one out for me from Urban Decay and I've been using it ever since. DO NOT LET KAREN DO YOUR EYEBROWS!!! I came in and she seemed like she didn't care that I was there to give her business. She didn't speak to me and didn't respond when I spoke to her. I went in to get my eyebrows cleaned up. I have very dark, thick eyebrows that I like to look natural and have always kept them thick. She did not just clean them up. She made my left eyebrow very thin with a very high arch and the right one thicker, so it was not only extremely thin but they didn't match! When I pay $20+ tip I expect to not be almost in tears when leaving. I went back and complained and another lady did what she could to fix them, but even when I complained that I didn't feel like I should have to pay, they said they could not refund me. Save yourself the money and stress and just don't go here for waxing. TERRIBLE experience!!!! read more

I had a bridal party makeup scheduled for 8am my wedding day; the ceremony starting at noon on 9/18/16, a Sunday. I was there punctually and waited for one hour until I realized no one was going to show up. I initially scheduled the bridal make up 6 months before the wedding. I confirmed 3 months prior to the wedding and then 4 days prior to it. I even have proof of text message confirmation. My friends ended up doing my makeup. It looked fine but I was deeply disappointed in the complete lack of professionalism. I vowed to never spend a penny at Ulta again. read more

I feel like I'm cheating on Sephora when I shop here, but I'm ok with that because Ulta is like Sephora's younger, cheaper, sister with far more fun things. It combines all the wonderful, expensive beauty items you would find at Sephora with all the cheaper beauty items you'd find at a drugstore. The prices are amazing, the employees are always super friendly, there are constantly great sales, and if you sign up for their emails, you get tons of discounts and info about sales, etc. There's absolutely nothing negative I can think of about this place. read more

What to say about Ulta. Ummm this location has great lighting so even if your make up is bad you would look fab. Two of the estheticians here are pretty notable. Lines move swift. Their Essie nail collection is compact and quite deceptive. The collections or nail pallets for the season are definitely in stock. Stila needs some attention but the winner today would have to be their Smash Box. There's some new mattes. The Punk color resembles Spice Cake from the Melt Brand. For all you make up gals you would appreciate the availability of this smash box collection. I walked away with a Stila lip polish called Patina. Dried awesome and I don't look as if I was involved in a lip challenge. If you journey to the other side of the room it's reminiscent of a drug store cosmetics aisle. Of course there's a better selection here it's just how the product is staged. I'll be back to get some special edition Escada perfume. read more

Worse customer service ever!! Was not explained the total amount of lashes. I was told 15 to have full put on. No one told me I would be spending an extra 15.00 for the lash kit. The lashes only lasted 5 hours before they started falling off so they didn't even last for my evening event. I called the store asked to speak to a manager. A lady picked up and I explained my situation. She agreed they should have lasted longer than 5 hours. I was put on hold again and then another lady came on this time the manager Ariana answered. She said she was the manager so I explained my story all over again. She proceeded to tell me that bc I didn't pay for the lash kit that there was nothing she could do. I told her it was never explained to me that I would be paying an additional 15 for it. I was given a total of 15.00 for full lashes and that's it. She then got smart with me and I asked for corporates number and told me I could find it online. I have worked in retail and when I a customer asks for corporates number you give it to them without an attitude. I called corporate and left them a message to call me back since they are closed sat and Sunday. Trust and believe I will be following up on Monday. read more

In addition to being a great beauty supply store, this ULTA salon also has awesome hair stylists. I had an appointment at this location with Chloe this morning to take the pixie plunge - bye bye 10 inches of hair I'd been growing out forever. I couldn't be happier with the result! She really took her time with me to figure out what I wanted, and then she did an amazing job executing that. I started receiving compliments 2 minutes after walking out the door. Everyone at ULTA is really friendly. Yesterday when I walked in to ask about prices for different kinds of cuts, the employee at the register encouraged me to come back for a free consultation about the pixie cut. If she hadn't done that, I probably wouldn't have made the appointment and I'd still be sitting here with way too much hair. It was really good customer service. ULTA also has better rates for salon services than most other salons in this area. Go ULTA! read more
