Popped in yesterday evening for a last minute make-up need and left without any makeup, but had to share this review because of the wonderful experience I had at this location off of market place. Of course I failed to write her name down and I knew I would forget, so to the sweet woman who helped color match me with the PUR tinted moisturizer - thank you!!! She was so kind and helpful, and made sure that I knew the exact shade and number/name that worked best for me with that line. Of course, they were all sold out and unfortunately, they were sold out online too. However, the woman working behind the counter was kind enough to tell me which other nearby locations still have it in stock. If you're a PUR fan like me, run - don't walk - to Ulta as their entire product line is 50% off right now but in-store only! I visited this Ulta location today and left around 3:38 PM on 2/10/2026. While the experience started off positive, the checkout interaction was unacceptable and needs to be addressed. When I entered the store, I was greeted appropriately and offered assistance. A tall African American male employee was especially professional, friendly, respectful, and attentive without being pushy. That level of service was appreciated. The issue occurred at checkout. I was not greeted at all and had to pause to confirm it was okay to approach the register. The cashier, identified on my receipt as Iris (she was short, with long dark hair, and wearing a black sweater), showed clear annoyance from the start. There was no eye contact, no greeting, and no basic customer-service interaction such as asking if I found everything I needed. She grabbed my items, threw them into the bag carelessly, and threw the bag across the counter toward me instead of handing it to me even though my hand was out to receive the bag. She did not say thank you or acknowledge me in any way. The behavior was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. For context, I was wearing a Nike sweatsuit and a baseball cap while. How a customer is dressed should never determine the level of respect they receive. This interaction made it very clear that assumptions were being made, and that is not acceptable. Ulta is a customer focused brand, and this type of behavior at the register undermines that reputation. Management should address this immediately, because no customer should leave feeling disrespected after making a purchase. read more

May I brag about an employee?? I came into Ulta and approached the cashier with my gift card for nearly the exact amount of my purchase. However, it was one of these cards that offer credit at a host of different locations, not just Ulta. Erin shared that news with me ... but then offered to help me navigate the process of selecting only Ulta, making note of the amount of product, etc. Lucky for us both, there was no one in line, but Erin took about ten good minutes of her time out to help me. Was accosted for not wearing a mask when the door sign simply suggested the wearing of one but did not mandate that I was to wear one. I ran in quickly and left my mask in the car- did not think anything of it until a rude employee aggressively targeted me for not wearing one. I apologized and asked if it was required to shop to which she said no. So my question is how does Ulta get off accosting people for something they don't require? I am someone who understands the value of wearing a mask, but do not believe in being accosted by a rude employee for not wearing one- especially when the cashier had their mask dropped below their chin? Mandate masks if you want everyone to wear one. I will not be shopping at Ulta. I'd much rather shop at Sephora and wear my mask while doing so. read more

Terrible customer service & Inadequate inventory! For Christmas, My husband purchased my mom a Clinique lipstick (from Ulta on Market Place). Unfortunately, I purchased her the same exact lipstick (from Belks). Therefore, we needed to return 1. We decided to return the Ulta lipstick. My husband gave me the orange Ulta bag & the receipt and off we went to Ulta... My mom and I arrive at Ulta and there is a large line at the register, so we try to find a salesperson on the floor to help us find a replacement color so that we can exchange the lipstick. Unfortunately, there was nobody around, so we hunted down the Clinique area and began to look through alternative color options. What a bummer! The shelves that hold the lipstick do not "pull out", therefore its very difficult to even see the products, let alone try to read all of the color names. We thought the selection was very limited and decided to stand in line to see if they had any additional colors. We get to the front of the line and explain (to the manager) that we would like to exchange 1 lipstick for a different color but needed some assistance as we could not find anybody and there were limited options. She called over a salesperson (who was the most friendly of the staff there). She showed us the limited stock and said "i wish these shelves would pull out" (we couldn't agree more!). Then she mentioned that their supply was low and to come back at another time. Um, i asked - how long will that be? She replied a few days till the truck comes. At this point, we just wanted to get this over with, therefore mom picked one of the colors that were in stock. Next step...do a simple exchange (or so we thought). Again we wait in line, as we were the next to be waited on (the 3 cashiers that were once there are now down to 1 - who had a customer). The manager asked another employee to open a register and continued to tell her about stocking products, somebody's lunch hour, etc. So once they were done chatting, i opened the orange Ulta bag with the Receipt and the lipstick to be returned. The cashier asks me - what's your phone number? I gave her my phone number. She said No, you are not in the system. I said well, i do not shop here, so I am probably not in your system, here is the paid receipt, my husband purchased this lipstick for my mother and we just would like to do an even exchange. She then proceeded to explain that the "correct phone number" must be given or else i won't receive the exact price for the lipstick - i will receive a "lesser amount". I said wait a minute - i have the receipt right here, it was only purchased a few days ago for A christmas present, just use the receipt, its just an even exchange for a different color lipstick. Then the clerk tells me No, she must have the exact phone number to match the purchase. I am thinking to myself...my mom is a senior, if she came in here alone to exchange this, she would't know my husband's cell phone number and shouldn't have too to make a simple exchange. The Manager steps in at this point and i explain my dissatisfaction about this "mystery phone number" process. She explains its their system, but tells the clerk to "over ride it" so that it can be processed. The Manager steps away and the clerk tries to process without the phone number, no luck. She has to get the manager Again and together they still can't process it! This is rediculous! Another clerk/manager (??) comes by and we have to explain again that its a simple exchange with the receipt - after a few minutes of manipulating the system it finally gets done. We felt very uncomfortable and frustrated through this process. Along the way, the staff was not friendly, not helpful, seemed very cold, condescending and rude. The one manager tried to give a reason for this but never a true apology. Attention Ulta Upper Management - you have a flaw in your process! A customer should have a seamless process to exchange a product with a valid receipt! What you are basically saying is that any product purchased cannot be returned unless you know the "gift givers" phone number. Well, thats not always possible. What if you do not know the person's number? We will take our business to Belk's. When i purchased Clinique lipstick there, the rep was pleasant and extremely helpful! It should not take 3 Ulta employees to process a simple return. You have lost a customer, and created a story to share with other prospective customers. Buyer Beware! read more

Bought an expensive skin care product- nuface micro current- that broke shortly after purchase, would not hold a charge or work at all. I googled it and apparently it is a known issue, with a class action law suit and endless negative reviews about the non-charging, not working issue. I stood at the counter for 45 minutes waiting for someone to decide to resolve my defective product return, while the checkout line backed up and got longer and longer- The associate called a manager over, the manager was in training but understood that it was a known defective product with a class action lawsuit but didn't feel empowered to do a return. It was just past the 90 days return policy. I was told it was not a Ulta issue, it was an issue with Nuface. I should reach out to Nuface. Or I should call the Ulta customer service number. I said that wasn't acceptable, if it doesn't work, there are lawsuits and it is a known defect, I shouldn't have to handle Ulta's vendor issues for them. The manager in training called for assistance to see what he could do at least 4 times, over 45 minutes, the other managers on duty, ignored his repeated requests for help. I understand return policies. However, its not a product satisfaction return..., you are carrying a $300 product that doesn't charge and is involved in multiple lawsuits over the known defect, it does not work at all. You are selling known non/functioning products, you should return it for a full refund and don't penalize the customer. But apparently the managers at Ulta don't feel its their job to provide appropriate or timely resolutions or adequate customer service, they choose to ignore, pretend its not happening and not take ownership of issues. Heads up- if a product is in a lawsuit, take it off shelves. If a customer experiences the defect, return it, reach out to your vendor and get reimbursed for the defective inventory. Don't put that burden on your customer. I will buy from amazon going forward, it's cheaper, easier and provides returns. Crappy retail customer service will be the downfall of retail. Store credit is not acceptable when the product is clearly documented as defective. For the record the two managers that the associates were repeatedly asking for assistance were- Rachel and Jameson. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I'm so effing upset about my hair. I went to see Susan for balayage today. First of all, my appointment was rescheduled twice. I made the appointment last week after seeing her specifically mentioned in good reviews, plus she's this location's most expensive stylist. I drove 50 minutes to get there and she said she didn't have time to do what I wanted, so we rescheduled. The night before my next appointment, I got a confirmation call confirming my appointment with Lisa because Susan would be out. I wasn't okay with that and moved it to today. The pictures I showed Susan were of color melt/balayage/ombré colors going from dark to a fashion color (pink, purple, teal). She gave me full highlights and toned my hair to a fugly shade of gold and didn't do anything else. NOT REMOTELY CLOSE TO WHAT I ASKED FOR. I paid and drove to Sally's to buy a fun color to do myself. There, two licensed cosmetologists overheard me talking to the associate about my hair. They both looked through my hair and said there were bleed spots and lines and they both said to go back and demand they fix it or a refund. The salon manager wasn't there and I'm waiting to hear back. I spoke to the store manager who didn't seem to care at all. read more

I wishI I could give this store 0 stars because honestly they don't even deserve a 1 star rating. I love Ulta but this location is pathetic. The staff is extremely rude and unwilling to help. I am a very effeminate gay man who loves wearing makeup and i feel like every time i walk into this store I'm unwelcome. Hardly any of the workers will talk to me even if we are in the same aisle and I feel as though they're all staring at me making sure I'm not a theif. I saw one sales associate in particular helping another customer in the skincare aisle and as soon as she was done walked right past me without even so much as a passing glance, while I'm left there looking up reviews and trying to balance my budget and find what I need. As I'm checking out a customer cuts in front of me (of course the workers said nothing) and once I get to the register I smile, enough to see under my mask, and say "Hi how are you?" to the cashier. All I get in response is a deadpan "phone number?" and thats when I knew I had to rant on yelp lol. This store has gone downhill so quickly in the past few years and it's really a shame since I've been coming here so long and because its right next to my house (currently 21 been shopping here since I was 15). But they are well worth it. I use Katie at the Cumming, Ga one. Talking about hair. You can buy all kinds of hair products. Shampoo, conditioners, products to help your hair. All kinds of hair brushes, Combs, blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons. They have both menand women products. I can also by my make up there. Weather it be the cheap kind or expensive kind. They have all kinds of make up brushes to get. The ladies are great with helping customers with what they need. They carry the good high end perfume. Men and women. It makes it easy to have your hair done and get the cleaning supplies you need all in one stop. I really recommend Ulta Beauty. read more

I love ULTA, but definitely not this one! First, no one greeted me when I walked in, but another lady walked in immediately after me and was happily greeted. I shook my head and walked off to look for the IT brushes. WHAT A MESS!!! I couldn't find the brush I wanted and no one even asked if I needed help, let alone acknowledged my existence. At this point I was frustrated so I gave up, bought some lotion and left. The customer service definitely needs to improve there. There's a lady there with glasses, either she hates her job or was having a bad day, either way I never want to ask her for help, her angry face says it all. I always have problems when I come to this ulta in the "prestige" cosmetics section no one is ever around to assist. I came in today before the doors even opened, I was the first person in the store and I head straight to the prestige brands hoping to get matched for a foundation. When I walked in there where 3 employees standing by the front door. A few minutes after I came in a Caucasian lady came in someone immediately offered to assist her and no one had even greeted me ! How can I not assume this is a racial discrimination? I waited 10 minutes after the other lady was helped for someone to come up and when they asked if I needed help I just said not anymore. Why would I want o give them my business? These employees should be trained to assist everyone and anyone who walks in that door on a first come first serve basis. I picked up a curbside order and the girl placed a bag, with my order contents, on the seat behind me. I asked her to please wait just a second while I checked the contents in bag to make sure they were correct. The Stila eye pencil was damaged. Someone had already opened it and broken off the tip. When I looked up to tell the girl it was broken, she was gone. She did not politely wait one minute while I checked my order. She had gone back inside! I immediately called and the manager, Ebony, answered. I told her that the girl did not wait for me to check my items and that the eye pencil they gave me was either used or tampered with. She would not let the girl come get it and bring me a new one even though I had placed it back in the bag for Covid-19 safety. Ebony said there could be no items coming back in the store and absolutely no exchanges. She then said I had to purchase another one or call a 1-800 number to return it! I told her this was unacceptable and that I should not be charged another $22.00 making my total $44 for one eye pencil! Unbelievable. I asked her if she could send out a new one and damage out the defective one they had just given me several minutes before. Again, her answer was no. She then said she had another call and put me on hold for 15 minutes while I sat right in front of her. She was not on the phone! When she finally came back, she refused to help by offering me an undamaged eye pencil. So, the employees at ULTA can give customers damaged merchandise at curbside then refuse to take it back! I will NEVER shop at ULTA again... awful customer service, rude employees, and it's not the first time I've purchased something there that didn't look right. I worked in retail and promotional products for over 25 years. I've managed two large stores, both of which I opened, and one family owned of which I worked in a similar capacity. I, nor my employees, would have ever dreamed of handling this situation the way Ebony did. Covid -19 guidelines would have been adhered to, but I also would have immediately sent a new, undamaged eye pencil out to the customer instead of making her sit in her car, in front of the store, for thirty minutes. THE CUSTOMER ALWAYS COMES FIRST. Ebony needs to be informed of this, as it should be a key aspect during employee training. After she refused to help me, I was forced to drive away with my damaged, unusable merchandise from ULTA. I had to run into Belk up the street afterwards, and their makeup ladies, two of them, were helping customers efficiently and politely. ULTA Cosmetics employees are very unprofessional. I will surely spread the word to friends not to bother with ULTA...go to Belk. I've lived in Cumming for over thirty years and know many people in our area. Ebony has done a major disservice to a valued customer and this news will be passed on thanks to an unaccommodating and quite rude store manager. read more

Once upon a time this Ulta was not my favorite location but since the new management took over a couple of years ago I use this as my Shampoo & Bare Escentuals Make Up Central. The store is very organized and the customer service associates are helpful and friendly. The only reason I gave it four stars is because this store is extremely busy and most of the time I go in I have to wait in a long line to check out. I do have an Ulta Rewards card which you will want to ask about if you go here often to receive discounts and mailers with coupons. I usually go here to find my Matrix products sometimes they have deals where you can get a large Biolage Shampoo or Conditioner for $14.99 each which is unbeatable (They are regularly $22 at Ulta and even more expensive at Target, JC Penney Salon (which usually has good deals too) and salons). The Bare Minerals pricing is usually always the same although sometimes they run deals on the make up starter type kits. I would definitely give it a shot if you're looking for your favorite beauty products at slightly lower prices. read more

Today I had SEVERAL associates walk past me only to ask other patrons if they need help. Sad. Hands down the worst experience ever! Went to get my hair colored and told the stylist I tend to go red just to make her aware. Guess what, still left with red hair! So I washed it twice hoping to tone it down and when that didn't work I called to see if they could fix it. Long story short, the stylist made a few snide remarks and then the manager says she adjusted my price to reflect a discount. Imagine my surprise when the discount for them to fix and make my hair right because they messed it up and turned it RED was a whole $3.00 cheaper than my initial color cost! So I basically paid double because of their mistake. And on top of all this I had to sit with my head in a sink for a half an hour because all of their sinks were clogged. Lucky me, the stylist was constantly trying to unclog the sink while my head was in it getting washed. My legs were numb and my back was killing me when I finally stood up! Unbelievable! I have since cancelled my Ulta credit card and will never return. Sephora here I come! read more
