I booked the everyday makeup application for my daughter for the prom as she doesn't really wear makeup much. We had Lilly as our beauty specialist and she did an amazing job! She replied, "I don't think that sounds right," and we spent a few seconds discussing it, but she didn't seem to understand the calculation. At this point, this other cashier named Jessica abruptly interrupted the conversation trying to know the situation , so I explained her what was happening and after I explained to Jessica the math again , Jessica insisted that I was wrong and she even said, "Your math isn't mathing," even though the calculation I was trying to explain her was correct. So once it became clear that neither Annette or Jessica understood what I was trying to do, I simply said, "Just give me my change ($4.36)," and left the store. I'm so thankful to have come across Grecia who went above and beyond with helping both me and my sister find a Tarte concealer. I forgot to take a photo of the foundation number I used for bareminerals they recently changed the formulations. Luckily, there was great staff to help me. She welcomed me into the store, and color matched me quickly. She took her time and even recommended other options, including brushes. I walked out with everything I needed and more. I was really excited to try Ulta's salon services for the first time and get my hair colored. Before booking, I asked if the color I wanted was possible, and they reassured me it was, even checking with an experienced stylist. My appointment was with Jason, who was very kind and had a great personality, but unfortunately, the results didn't meet my expectations. I showed him inspiration photos and felt hopeful, but the final color wasn't what I wanted. When I mentioned hoping for something brighter, he simply said it would fade, which didn't make sense to me. The styling wasn't even, one side of my curls looked nice, while the other side didn't match. Most concerning was the dye left on my scalp. He didn't wash it out thoroughly, and I noticed a lot of staining when I got home. It was disappointing, especially since I trusted the process and was really looking forward to this experience. I don't think Jason took the care needed, and I wouldn't go back to him, but I'm open to trying a different stylist at Ulta next time. This was a learning experience, and I still believe Ulta has great potential, I just recommend going with someone more experienced. read more

I will say the girl that did my brows was sweet definitely not knocking her. I hated doing brows when I was in the salon but all I wanted was my lids clean up they are soooo very thin to begin with and the hair truly never grows back it been over a year since I did them last time. When asking the lid to be clean up that means the hair on the lid. I made sure to say only cut absolutely the hair that's necessary because they are so thin. When I got up I can't see the fine detail without my glasses so I didn't see the big chunk missing. I tried to fill it in with brow filler but it's not gonna be filled in for a while no big deal. Hair grows back so when I called to let the girl now maybe next person make sure you understand what please just clean up means the manager said I don't know what you want me to tell you once the hair is gone ain't nothing we can do about it's gone we can't put the hair back. It's sounded like she thought I was a child. No shit the hair is not gonna be able to be put back but if you're a good customer service manager you say a whole lot more than that. I said maybe it should be a teach moment because I made it very clear what I wanted and did not want. She said I'm sorry for unhappy experience. I have had absolutely amazing experiences at other Ulta stores. However, I would not recommend this location. Most of the staff were standing around gossiping while one or two did actual work. There was a woman with long red hair that was especially rude to me. I left the store completely floored by the judgmental bullying & unprofessionalism. I've been to this Ulta at this location many, many times, but it was not until about a month ago I went in to look for a new foundation that I found Mai (like in the drink Mai Tai - her words). Her customer service was above and beyond. I was treated like I was the only person in the store. During the search for the foundation, I expressed to her the other face concerns I wanted to hide. She sat me down and assessed my skin, she provided some recommendations and also educated me on skin care. Gave me the in-depth look into the root cause of my issues and concerns. Then taught me how to mitigate it deep down and not just at the surface level. She didn't just show me some products and then sent me on my way. She was very personable and explained why A, B, and C will help with my skin. She helped me develop a face skin care regimen geared to my skin's needs (it's an investment $$). She gave me some samples to try and within a couple of weeks, I saw such a change in my skin. The dark circles, dark spots, wrinkles, and puffiness were minimized, and that was only a couple of weeks. She is a wealth of knowledge in skincare and seeing what the samples she provided me did, I went back to purchase the products. This is now the everyday skincare regimen I live by, developed for me by Mai. read more

I went to the store to do a return with a gift receipt. They couldn't process it with all the original packaging and the gift receipt provided they were trying to tell me that I would receive $15 for a $52 item and that's just one of the items I was trying to return. I was then told by management that I need to phone number associated from the original purchaser. Never heard of that in my life being a valid policy from Ulta, actually from any major retail store. If you provide a gift receipt, that should be sufficient enough as it's a verified return. Kind of sad that the management at this location treats, their consumers this way. Making up their own policy in store as if that's legal. Lucky for me. The full phone conversation was recorded by Ulta customer service and bubbled up to higher management. Review for the Ulta Salon. I scheduled right before the holidays (my appointment was 12/21/23) for a very last minute color to prep for a holiday party. I made an appointment for a multi tone hair color and scalp treatment. The stylist wasn't able to do color or glaze or toner, but did a scalp treatment with signature haircut. I paid about $75. I had 3 hours with the stylist and she explained she couldn't do glaze or toner to match my roots since I wanted to get highlights in the following months (she couldn't do the highlights during my appointment), I was thankful to have freshly washed hair for the holiday party, but extremely bummed they couldn't give my hair a color boost with toner or glaze. I pretty much paid for a very expensive hair wash and cut. I liked the stylist a lot, and she treated my hair gently, but I didn't get any color and instead got a trim. read more

I just wanted to take a moment to make a post about Ulta. I am a busy mom of 4, I work full time and run a very packed schedule. I wear makeup daily, get my nails on occasion and try to take care of myself. That being said I'm not trendy or anything and have worn the same makeup for a long time. I ended up pulling up to Ulta on my way home for some nail care with the salons being closed. My nails are super healthy right now and I don't want them not being done to be a reason to bite or destroy them. I found what I needed and got to the register. Mind you I am frustrated and just overwhelmed by the day. But Jamie assisted me at the registered, she is a manager (or thee manager? Not sure) there. She was literally the nicest, most positive person. Indeed was exactly who and what I needed in that moment. She took the time to set me up with rewards and just be genuinely kind, not fake retail kind, but genuinely kind. I literally stopped there so I wouldn't go home to my family upset. Hoping for a kind reset before I got home. I know it sounds silly coming from a makeup store. But a store as a washed up momma, I didn't even feel like I belonged in. Instead I left there feeling seen. If I am standing in the wrong spot, why were the people in front of me helped? She was rude and condescending. I asked to speak with the Supervisor which did nothing! First of all I have to say I love long walks down the isles of Ulta!!! I literally could spend an hour and a half in here just walking all the different aisles and checking out all the various products...can we say helllloooo Ulta!! I have to say that it would be nice to have a few more people working there as the last few times I have gone it's taken me about 15 minutes to wave down in employee, however when I have met an employee there they're very helpful, knowledgeable of both products and make up techniques, and so that's why I keep coming back The pricing is fabbbbuuuulesss!!! I have gotten eyeshadow palettes for $10 that are great quality as well as they sell hidden treasures like Morphy which is only sold in one store in LA, so that tickles my heart that they are reaching out to great companies that have great quality and fair price points. I went to return an unopened fragrance that i purchased online. When i got to the cashier, i didn't get her name but it's the one that still uses a face mask, She said that i had to return the gift with purchase. I told her they were already used and she said i had to return whatever i had left so she can damage them, that i couldn't keep the gift with purchase. I told her if she was serious and she said yes. She gave me back the fragrance and said when i bring in the gift with purchase she would give me a refund. She was the rudest person i have dealt with in a while. On Wed 8/10 in Escondido, a manager told me they cannot process a return for someone who is not a Loyalty Member. So, I would have to sign-up right then, or I would not be able to complete my return. I had one item, unused; and I had a receipt which was within 30 days. I pointed-out that my original purchase was not made as a Loyalty Member. She just restated that she could not do the return unless I was a Loyalty Member. I said this seems unlawful, and she replied that the return policy is printed on the back of the receipt (which she was holding). Because the situation was becoming publicly embarrassing, I gave-in to her bullying and surrendered my personal information. Later, I read the back of the receipt; and I also read their policy online https://www.ulta.com/guestservices Ulta's online Return Policy is headlined with "Happy returns are our style" which I found to be untrue. I loathe interacting with cashiers at Ulta. They go beyond reasonable sales pressure to force customers to join their Rewards Program. I try to politely decline and move-on to my purchase, but they tell me the system will not let them proceed without a phone number. This is really irritating, and I feel like a hostage at the check-out counter. Usually, I feel sorry for the employee because they are most likely being pressured by their manager to get every customer to join. BUT I DON'T WANT TO. Victoria was going back and forth with me and another customer. She applied color remover and left me unattended for over an hour and was not checking if the color was even lifting. Another employee had to come check on me since I was sitting with the product for so long only to be told the color was not lifting. I asked Victoria if my end result would be what I asked for and she stated it was possible. Not only did my hair come out damaged and patchy, my total came out to be $405. I spoke to a manager the following day to get a refund and she stated I would be banned from coming back to their location and didn't know if she can authorize a refund. They took my number down in order to have another manager reach out to me. No one reached out to me. I had to call the store to finally get my refund.
