I remember when Mira Mesa had an Elam's Hallmark way back in the day - I don't know if this is the same store from my youth, or a different franchise. Be that as it may, there are plenty of gifts, ornaments, and cards to choose from here, with a friendly staff ready to assist you. I don't like how the register is smack dab in the middle, making for some crowded environs inside. And yes, some of the merchandise inside is pricy, but you do get what you pay for. Lucky for my wallet that Elam's Hallmark is a little drive away from me, as my Star Wars, Marvel, and Peanuts-loving self wouldn't be able to resist making a purchase every time I come here!

You can get also something of relatively local flavor, such a Ramona olive oil (expensive, but who does not want the extra virgin golden liquid in their table and help the local agriculture?). You can also taste some of the oils they have on sale, all made with local products. My favorite items of all today, other than the Eiffer tower (I just love them!) was a nice poutpourri of dry roses and other exotic flower and greenery with mini terracotta pots in the bag. The bouquet was very small -equivalent to a $50 bouquet (as seen on their website), the vase wasn't the one that I picked out, I paid for a balloon they neglected to deliver (they did deliver two balloons the next day-anticlimactic). Getting to shop for each flower makes buying flowers such an intentional experience. The staff is always sweet and kind and hot to help. The cost of the flowers is on the higher end, but you pay for what you get. Unique flowers. Grown locally (or mostly locally). I love coming into the shop, it's an instant mood lift.
