I had a very disappointing experience at this store today. This is not the first time I've felt uncomfortable here due to poor customer service, but today's visit was especially frustrating. I initially came in around 2:00 PM to redeem my birthday gift. For some reason, I couldn't access the QR code in the app, even though I was able to add the free gift to my cart online. I simply wanted to see the available options in-store before placing the order, and also asked for help locating my QR code. The associate was dismissive, refused to show me the options, and did not offer any assistance. Since I was already there, I placed an in-store pickup order at 2:10 PM and asked how long it would take. I was told it would take about an hour for the order to appear in the system. However, I received the confirmation that my order was ready just 10 minutes later--after I had already left the store. This made it clear that the wait time I was given was inaccurate and misleading. When I returned around 3:30 PM, I showed my order number and confirmation email. The associate ignored me while she was on her phone texting and only acknowledged me after she finished. This felt unprofessional and disrespectful. Before handing me my order, she asked for my ID, which felt unnecessary given that I had the full order details and confirmation on my phone. In the end, she barely checked it anyway. First time in this store because I had a $25 gift card to use. Low rating due to poor customer service and low inventory on a lot of their makeup brands. First I walked around to see what they had and then I had someone ask me if I needed help, which I did. She pointed me in the direction of what I asked for but then left me. I still didn't find what I wanted and I kept walking around the store. I had two more sales associates help me but both of them quickly disappeared. Nobody seemed like they were trying to make a sale. I noticed the color of eye shadow I wanted was out of stock and someone tried to check and see if they had it in the back but it took over 10 minutes for her to finally come back and tell me they didn't have it. I began to notice that a lot of their inventory was low. They had plenty of sales associates standing around looking pretty but it didn't really seem like customer service was the most important thing on their minds. When the third associate began to help me she noticed some guy in the next aisle that looked like he needed help. so, before she was done helping me she went to help him. Im so happy there is another location! The Rockville location is too much of train wreck. New store, different layout though but much more pleasing to the eye. Its a new store so the store is sparkling clean. They have a nice salon in the back , and they followed social distancing protocols. Lots of cruelty free products than Rockville location. I came during the grand opening week. There were no specials or freebies. Employees seemed friendly and approachable, however they all just love chit chatting away. I was gonna ask about getting my eyebrows done at their brow bar, maybe another time. Checking out was ok, a little busy. Cashiers were friendly. This location has really gone down hill. I popped in at about 7:45, unaware that they were closing in 15 minutes (the door was open). The manager was unwelcoming and rudely tried to kick us out. She was very snappy the whole I was there. I had to convince her that I was only there to pick up 2 things. When I went to go checkout the young girl was also very rude and impatient. Clearly these two missed customer service training day. I wanted to use my 20% off coupon and they insisted it was in my email and not the app. I spent about 5 more minutes searching through my email and not the app. After much frustration, they honored the discount (because I'm sure they just wanted to go home) which was kind. Turns out when I looked later the discount was in the app like I thought!!! Two very rude people who just don't know what simple customer service is. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I love this store because it's a hidden gem. I usually place an order and they have it ready immediately. If I choose to go in and shop they usually have everything I need outside of Anastasia products and perfume. I love the sales they have and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I also love the fact that you can try on products and I love the fact that they always have mini versions of things. Customer Service sucks here. I overheard a customer ask for suggestions, sounded like she knew nothing about makeup. She said she was starting to have lines and wanted something to put on under her makeup to help. The employee told her it was primer & asked what she wanted to spend and pointed her to the lower end items once she told her the amount, not knowing what the items cost. The employee didn't help her pick anything or giving her suggestions. The customer became frazzled and wanted to leave so I asked her if she needed help and gave her a few suggestions. The Germantown Ulta is clean and well stocked. I came here during their skincare discount event that they were running in January. Finding products were easy and the store was well lit. With the store just opening in the morning, I was expecting better attitudes from the staff. When I approached the cashier and checked out, I asked if I could apply my points towards my total purchase. The cashier proceeded to condescendingly tell me that this will show on the next screen if I decide to sign up their credit card which I declined. The attitudes of the cashiers across all Ultas have been consistently negative and that they do not care about overall customer service. I enjoy Ulta and the competitive prices that they have, but other competitors outshine their service. read more

WOW! I have been going to Becky Lowe for years and she is always amazing, but this was a special visit. I had lost my hair after severe COVID 2021 and she was able to assess my hair and put a plan in place for when the regrowth started. She took me step by step through the process over a 5 month period and I was finally able to get a structured cut after my hair grew out. Taking in consideration how thin my hair was and how thick my new hair was coming in, she was able to give me a cut that minimized the look of thinning while giving my crown more volume with the new growth. She has also done color for me in the past and she's a true professional having trained in New York. I'll never change stylists. As an additional bonus, she was able to detangle my hair after it had matted after a long illness where I had no energy to walk or lift my arms to brush it. She was so patient and gentle and was able to be compassionate and kind through the process. read more

Based off of the other reviews for Christina Williams- I decided to try her out. And she did not disappoint. I had half highlights and a cut done prior to coming here that I was not happy with. I consulted with Christina and she suggested that I get a half balayage done to fix the problem. And it sure did!! I felt so much better about my hair afterwards. Christina (aka healing hands) is very personable and very talented. I'm so happy to have found her. She is definitely my new hair dresser. Now I will say I wasn't all dolled up or anything. Just wanted my coffee and to pick up my product. When walking through the doors I wasn't greeted ‍ but I was ok about that. However I'm walking up and down each isle looking for the ELF product. There were at least four employees in there. No one inquired if I needed any help. As I made my way to the area in which I was looking for. I noticed I got but no help. I picked up a brow gel and the product. However got more of from the isle behind me. That's where I kind of had enough since I felt uncomfortable . I didn't want to spend my money there and yeah I had a gift card. However that would only cover one product. I am very particular about my hair and I have always hate getting hair cuts but since I've starting seeing Becky my haircuts are consistently exceptional. She's a perfectionist and never lets me leave until every strand of hair is exactly up to her standards even if it means she has to rewash it. She's also helped me find new products and ways to wear my hair to help me make my curls healthier. This location and variety of products carried by this Ulta are definitely pros. With that being said I usually purchase my items from Sephora and other retailers before having to actually go into this location. The customer service is always a negative in this store and I don't get why. I went there for some products. Being my first time and the place is so huge, staff were not helpful, they just chat among themselves and will look at you from afar with condescending stare. I went to the cashier to pay and even if there are no other people they want you to go to the other end (there is no signage where the line starts). When I say a life-savor! I mean it!! Christina saved my hair 100%... I had a terrible botch curly hair cut done by an another salon the prior day and was so upset and really hated looking in the mirror cause of how bad it was (and my hair plays a huge role in my confidence) I lost all trust in salons and my mother and I decided to go to Ulta to buy some shearing scissors to try to fix it ourselves (although I had no vision on how that was possible) we had went up to Christina for advice on which scissors we should buy & explained my situation... she didn't come off as just trying to sell me the curly haircut service they provide, gave me really knowledgeable information on why she would advise not doing so but as well gave her opinion on which scissors worked best if I still chose to do it ourselves...I was very hesitant to spending more money & more importantly trusting an another salon...but she was absolutely wonderful, she came in day she didn't technically work that day(since my birthday was in the next few days) and talked me through what she was doing, she asked for my opinion, and honestly pulled a miracle on my hair!
