When I first started coming to K&I for my eyebrows they were fantastic (no matter who you chose to get threaded by). Now it's either a hit or miss. Bhanu (not sure if spelled correctly) is your best bet there now but still not perfect. She takes her time, is very detail oriented and is gentle so the threading never hurts. Downside that she does not listen to how you want your eyebrows styled. The threader (not sure about her name) who works in the first chair on the right corner of the salon is quick but PAINFUL. She also makes my eyebrows too thin even when I remind her not to. This is the most decent threading place I've been to in the Gaithersburg area so I'll keep coming back - at least until I find a new location. read more

Anthony is awesome! I came in for a mani-pedi with my friend who comes here religiously. It was my first time here, but I was very impressed. The pedicure chairs have lots of massage options that felt so good, I didn't want to get up. Anthony made the water the perfect temperature and have a very deep calf and foot massage. If you don't like a very deep massage, just tell him and he'll do what you like. He used a milk and honey butter that not only felt like silk on my legs but smelled incredible. I was touching my legs all day afterwards! lol The manicure was equally as great. Super relaxing arm and hand massage. I picked a bright neon green color and I was impressed that Anthony knew to put on a white base coat to make the color pop. I paid $48 altogether, which included the mani-pedi and the beautiful design. I will definitely be back not only for nails but also for eyebrow threading because from seeing the results of the customers who came in while I was there, the threaders really know what they're doing. I have been going to her on and off for a year and a half, but I moved to PG County and had been trying to find a place closer. No such luck. Bhanu is talented, sweet and actually cares about what she's doing. Never unsatisfied. *Knocks on wood!* CONS: She's set up in the front of the salon and the arrangement seems a bit awkward. She prefers cash due to the CC transactional fees. All in all, this place is worlds better than many other places in the area. My experience at another place in Bethesda a few weeks ago. I was very disappointed. My eyebrows ended up VERY uneven. It was embarrassing and I had to pay $15! I am sticking with Bhanu at K&I. Well worth the trek! read more

Bhanu does an outstanding job with facial threading. She takes pride in her work, and her care, expertise, and artistry are unmatched in the greater DC area. I cannot attest to other services at this salon, but Bhanu is set up in the front of the salon with three chairs for facial threading. Her team has expanded to two other talented young Indian women who will do excellent facial hair threading. They now take credit cards in addition to cash and it's worth it for me to drive from Arlington/DC all the way up to Gaithersburg in order to have my face cleaned by her team. Their work is terrific. I highly recommend to anyone who needs their eyebrows shaped and other facial hair removed (upper lip, chin, sideburns etc.) This is one of the area's best kept secrets for women! read more

I go to Banu or Rozy for eyebrow threading. Before I came here, I went through a weird caterpillar phase with my eyebrows. I was scared to get more than just a cleaning with other threaders because I have been in plentttyy of situations where they took wayyy too much off. Banu did a great job thinning them and having it finally compliment my face. She is very thorough and will talk to you throughout the process. walk in costumer last 1/8/17 with my sis and tried their eyebrow threading i must say they did pretty good job, workers are pleasant and accommodating, however the 3 star was because of tiny bleeding on my left eyebrow. Woooow, so lake forest mall is now pretty dead and it was really empty when I came in. It was my first time here and my hopes weren't set TOO high from looking at the place but I was so wrong. The lady was very quiet but she did an amazing job with my brows, she was quick, painless, and overall very kind. I have always been to brow art in either Montgomery or Wheaton but this place is by far my favorite. She kept my eyebrows full and thick and still gave me a great shape. I do still think this salon does good work, but I recently experienced an ethical problem, I get relaxers here regularly, and it is always $85 for a relaxer, a style, and a haircut. A few days ago I was charged $95. I didn't think anything of it, then I checked their website and saw I was overcharged. I called and asked for the price for a relaxer and trim, and was told $85 again. When I mentioned I was charged $10 more, the employee said $85 is just a starting point depending on the thickness of the hair. I have short, fine hair and know people who have long thick hair...they were still charged $85. I feel I was over changed on purpose as a way for the business to get a few more dollars. Of course I didn't expect anyone to admit this, especially after I told her I over heard the owner telling the stylist that my fee is $95 because I got a haircut. I can't give my service to dishonesty, so unfortunately I will never return. read more

My mom and I come to K & I Beauty Salon and get our hairs done by Maria Santiago. We've never been disappointed! I requested a bright purple hair color and an asymmetric bob and my mother got beautiful red highlights with a layered haircut. Both hair jobs were done to perfection! And her blow drying and flat ironing skills are amazing! My curly hair was perfectly straight for a week. This salon is absolutely fabulous! When you come in, it is so pretty and modern, yet warm. First, I got a mani-pedi. After offering me snacks or a beverage (the coffee was fantastic!), the technician explained to me that the pedicure chairs they use are jetless, which means that they are very sanitary and fungus-free. Another woman had just gone before me, and I saw her clean out the foot bowl with a cleaner. How nice! When she got started, she used all tools that were just for me- panels on the foot scrubber that peeled off and was thrown away after being used, and a nail file that she threw away. It was so clean and nice. And she offered to turn on the chair's massage function which was just heavenly. Oh- and- she gave me a heated neck pillow which was soooo nice around my neck, not to mention it had a disposable cover for each use. I was so comfortable and relaxed that I almost fell asleep! She started doing the nail color that I had picked, and when it went on a little thick, she explained that she was going to do another coat to make sure it looked nice. I loved it! It looks so pretty and perfect. And then she used a special top coat which dried the nails within a couple minutes. I didn't even need to wait under a dryer or anything. Usually, I don't like getting pedicures that much because it tickles my feet a lot, but that didn't happen during this pedicure at all. Then she did my fingernails, which turned out just a gorgeous! She trimmed them to the perfect length I asked for and the perfect shape. They are all even and gorgeous and I can't stop admiring them. Again, she used the quick dry top coat which worked shockingly well. I even bumped them into something while I was getting my hair done about 15 minutes later and they didn't get messed up! Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised. Then, I got my hair shampooed, cut, and blow-dried. The shampoo chairs were incredibly comfortable, and the shampoo scalp massage felt so good. Again, I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep. During the cut, the stylist kept asking me if I liked it, did I want this or that to make it look better, how did I usually wear it, etc etc. I LOVED that she asked me so many questions so that she could do exactly what I wanted. After cutting for a while, she explained that she was going to go ahead and dry it to see how it looked. Then, after it was dry, she kept fixing little pieces and trimming here and there to make it look perfect. I absolutely loved it. Now, when I started talking to her about my hair, I explained that I wanted some layers, but really just a trim since I liked it long. She said that the right layers would make it look even longer and they would give it a great shape when I wear it wavy, which is what I usually do. When she was done, it looked absolutely FANTASTIC, and she was right, it looked longer than it did before! My husband loved it too, and couldn't stop saying how nice it looked and wanting to touch it. When I walked out of K & I Beauty, I felt so much more beautiful than I did when I went in. Shallow, maybe, but looking nice can make you feel so much better about yourself. Plus I was relaxed and very happy I had patronized such a wonderful business. They REALLY know what they're doing here. Next time I go, I will just tell them to do whatever they think will look good, because they clearly know their trades. My sister recommended Iris for a roller set, but she wasn't available at the time I needed so I ended up getting a blowout instead. It was the fastest and best I've ever had and so far it's still in good shape besides the regular daily touch-ups. My hair is very curly and not relaxed so I've had trouble finding a stylist who can get it completely straight for a reasonable price. Not only was it completely straight, it was also shiny and she didn't leave me with a whole layer of broken off hair. Then I got a pedicure from Karen, who also did a great job. Both were friendly and hospitable and the prices are good for this quality of work. The blowout was $55 and the pedicure was $30--I paid an extra $5 for some kind of dry skin scrub which was worth the money. I'm glad I finally found a salon close to home that gives quality service for reasonable prices. read more

This is what K&I (Lake Forest) did to my daughters' head last week. The butcher, Moriah told me when I came back with her that she was doing a bob on my child. That it is supposed to look like that; like I've never seen a bob. She has her senior Prom and Graduation in a couple of months. My child went in to get dead ends trimmed; a simple cut. I was told the manager was out of the country and nothing can be done. I want some senior person to contact me from K&I ASAP. You will be held accountable for damages. read more

I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for over 10 years and I will tell you now. Do not see Bhanu! She is terrible. She is rude and she doesn't listen. In the middle of having my brows done, she heard her phone go off and answered the phone. She continued to talk on the phone for 5-10 minutes and didn't even care that I was sitting there waiting for her. If it's an emergency, yes, that's understandable. But she didn't say it was and I found that extremely rude. On top of that, she didn't listen. I told her exactly what I wanted to have done. Same shape, same length, just remove the excessive hairs underneath. When she was finished, my brows were so thin, I couldn't believe it. My eyebrows pretty much don't exist anymore. I told her I was unhappy with my service and she said, "No you need new shape and hairs were too long. This is better." Um, excuse me? That's not the way this works. I will never ever see Bhanu again and if you are picky about your brows, I definitely do not recommend her. I will say, however, that I saw Rozy once and she did a great job. She is kind and actually listens. She did my brows exactly how I had asked. But she is generally not available when I am. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra $2 to get your brows done at Brow Art in Bethesda or another place in the area. read more

Thank God she didn't really touch my skin. But when she was doing the plucked, I can't hold it anymore and asked her to put hand sanitizer ... So grooss. I guess I actually have 2 reviews for this place.... First is for eyebrow threading... 5 stars It was my first time doing threading and I was a little nervous. She was very friendly and put me at ease. Not to mention the awesome job she did on my eyebrows!! They look sooo good and she has a customer for life!! $10 and the 5th or 6th one is free. Thank you Bhanu!! Second is for highlights/cut.....1 star I wish I could tell you all her name, but she never even told me (she was an older hispanic woman with blonde hair). I think she said like 3 words to me from start to finish. I asked for partial highlights, and she started doing full. You know when things start to go wrong, but its already started so there's nothing you can do but sit back and hope for the best....that was my whole experience. She only put 4 foils on top (which is very noticeable). The color is not what I asked for... too blonde! Then we get to the haircut, which was awful. I have (had) long hair about mid back or longer. I stressed the fact that I did NOT want to lose the length of my hair, multiple times in fact. I even showed her an appropriate amount of hair to cut (about an inch). My hair is now barely longer than my shoulder!!! Again its one of those things its too late once its done. Cant walk around with one short chunk in my hair. When I saw her first do it I gasped in horror, she didn't even bat an eye. I told her she cut way too much and she said it was the layer she was cutting that's why.... but I already had layers in my hair that needed to be trimmed....again too late at that point. The cut she did wasn't a bad cut if I wanted short hair, but I specifically told her to keep my length, so it was horrific!! At the end of my stressful and disappointing experience she tried to charge me $20 more than what I was told. $124 dollars later and I have to look for a place to correct her mistakes!!!! Hopefully it will come with customer service too. I will not be returning for anything to do with my hair, but I will most def be getting my eyebrows done. Its hard to find someone to do a good job on eyebrows and honestly that's why I went there for my hair... I thought all of their people would be that talented and personable... but lesson learned. I got my eyebrows threaded here and had a terrible time -- she didn't speak to me once. The lady was on the phone as I walked in and KEPT TALKING ON THE PHONE through the entire threading. This didn't seem like a business call either, as she was laughing and gossiping in a different language. Not that that would have made a difference. I was never asked how I wanted it done. In fact, the only words she spoke to me was "sit" and "thank you" as I paid. As a result, my eyebrows ended up a lot thinner than I would have liked. Needless to say, after this completely unprofessional experience, I will never return again and would NOT recommend. read more

I had Bhani do my eyebrows ($10) since she had rave reviews and unfortunately I've had better. According to her she has 25 years of experience and she does make the service painless so I don't doubt she knows what she'd doing, it's just that I've personally had better. My eyebrows looked very natural and wasn't a disaster but I was not super impressed .....it looked like I didn't have them done, like I just woke up or was born with them. So if that's your thing, then this is the place for you. She said she works every day except Tuesday but, you can call her cell if you want to have them done and she'll come in to help you out. The area as others have mentioned is on display....literally where the mannequins would go but the salon is neat so it works. There's also a younger Threader there named Lucy...I'm not sure of her skills but if I go back I will try her instead. Good luck. read more

I visit her about once a month, give or take, to get my brows done and I walk confidently into K&I beauty knowing my eyebrows are going to be looking GOOD when I walk out, and you can be sure yours will too! :) She is a lovely woman who is serious about making sure her customers have fabulous eyebrows!! My review is specifically for lip waxing and Brenda ... I've been coming to K&I for awhile now ... good location, good prices, never have to wait ... I just get in the chair, get my lip waxed, and I'm out. Way back when, I had one favorite technician named Anthony, but when he stopped working there I would pretty much go in and just take my chances ... I'd say the quality of the wax varied (though it was always quick and easy and very fairly priced) ... there was never anyone I'd specifically ask for. Until now ... I was a little overdue on the lip wax front (understatement) and popped into the salon a few days ago. This was the first time I'd gone to the newer location (they have two), the one closer to the JC Penney, and I have no idea if they use the same staff rotating between the two but they were all new faces to me. They were also, if I may add, incredibly nice and friendly ... Anyway, at the time I did not get the name of my technician ... she worked very slowly and carefully and gently (usually I'm in and out of the chair in seconds) and was very sweet. I honestly didn't notice until a little while later how unbelievably soft and smooth my lip felt ... a few days later and I still can't stop raving about it! Absolutely the BEST lip waxing I've ever had (and I admit I've had a few at the allegedly TOP places) ... I just had to call the salon to find out if they could figure out who my technician was ... The lovely woman I spoke to checked the schedule and confirmed that it would have been Brenda ... so from now on I can be sure that she is there when I need to be waxed (and next time I'll actually expand to the chin while I'm at it!!!) It looks like they also have a great manicure/pedicure set up there so I may splurge! read more

Great place to go for threading. I got my eyebrows threaded and it was only 10$. The woman who did them did a very good shape. Typically, there is only 1 employee there for threading so you might have to wait 5-10 minutes. I would say it is worth the wait!! read more

I had an outstanding experience. There was two ladies in front of me and I was in and out in about 15 minutes. I am not sure which lady I got but they did great, other reviews said that they were rude but she was not rude she was just strict. Like when she wanted me to move she'd say move or hold but she wasn't rude. She didn't make my eyebrows thin, they are even and defiantly nice. She also gave me a great arch, as the threading goes it felt odd it didn't hurt much my eyes still watered a little but that's cuz I'm sensitive no redness and no cuts. read more

She did my threading like she was mad at my face. I've been getting my eyebrows and upper lip threaded for years and it's never hurt that bad. She was too abrupt and didn't prep my face at all. The men's haircut is advertised for $14 but they wanted to charge $20. Got the haircut and was not satisfied. I came out with multiple cuts because of the inexperienced barber. While I was there I witnessed horrible customer service. Kids haircut was advertised for $12 but they wanted to charge this lady $15. The owner ended up calling mall security over a $3 dispute. I don't think she has ever heard of "the customer is always right". also, come on! you are willing to loose a returning customer over $3. It was clearly advertised that the haircut is $12. Anyways, I don't think I will be returning, I rather pay $18 at one of the many other spots in Olde Towne. read more

This was my first time coming to this place to cut my sons hair and it was a horrible experience. First of all the barber doesn't even have a license to cut hair. He left his hair uneven and had an attitude when I asked him why it was uneven. I tried getting the managers information which no one provided. The barber was so rude he basically kicked me out when I asked him to show me his license. Never again will I go to this place nor do I recommend it. read more

I was referred to this salon by one of the owners and was extremely disappointed with the subpar customer service. I patiently sat there for 20 minutes while Bahnu(?) threaded 3 other people before me and someone she apparently knows came in and she wanted me to wait so she could service her friend. Bahnu and the customer were very rude and one of the owners just stood there and watched this unprofessional behavior. The owner only said sorry to me as I walked out the door. I do not recommend taking your business to here; I'm sure there are other salons in the area that do a great job and will appreciate your business.
