I waited at least 20 mins and the first girl never came back to help. When I first came in, I showed her a picture of the color I wanted to change my hair to and she is making it happen. She has given me great advice on how to keep my hair looking great and healthy. Recently had my hair done at the Salon. I usually see Gloria, but because my schedule wasn't as flexible this time, I got in with Becca. She was so sweet, however she failed to give me the hair cut and color I asked for. When I confronted her at the end of the appointment, she brushed off my concerns and ushered me to pay and out the door, saying I was just in an "adjustment period". Went here for a bang trim, since my usual place is too far. I typically have a bad experience when I get my bangs cut, with hairdressers always chopping them too bluntly or too short. Pamela cut my bangs and was amazing at gauging exactly what I wanted, she understand the too short, too choppy issue without me saying anything and was quick, to boot. This Ulta has a super nice and modern setup compared the the Tempe Marketplace location I typically frequent. I was stopping in for a quick gift on a way to a party and was met with someone who was honestly kind of rude because I wouldn't apply for the credit card. I declined and mentioned being in a hurry (we were seriously running late) and was still pushed on it, declined again and was met with a tad of spite. I asked about a coupon because i did have mine saved, and she made a snide remark about having one but declined to adjust my transaction since I was in a hurry. I don't know what that comment was supposed to accomplish but honestly, bye. I'm sure there's pressure from management to push those credit applications, but "no thank you, we're in a rush" means no. Walking away, even my boyfriend noticed that she seemed rude after that. You can keep your rude comments and credit cards to yourself. I think I'll spend my coins @ Sephora instead. read more

So disappointed. Recently I was in the market for a new stylist. I decided after much deliberation to try Ulta. Worst mistake ever! I asked for a layered bob, same variation of the style I've been wearing for nearly 20 years. It was two different cuts in one. One side was longer and thicker, and super choppy, not blended at all. I never get upset about my hair, but this actually made me cry. I went to another location so I didn't run into the girl who did my hair. The salon manager agreed it was bad. She took photos and sent them to the manager at the location I went. I called that manager that afternoon and she assured me she could fix it, and I couldn't see how unless I had a male cut. When I went for the appointment she was not so confident. She did all she could do and sent me on my way. I should also say I don't use product in my hair, I'm blessed with great thick hair. So, cut, color, and tip were $180. Plus $40 in product, and the fact I will need to cut my hair far more frequently than I usually do just to get it back to where it was. I emailed and they said they'd make it right. After a week I emailed again and they responded they were working on it. Well, that was a week ago, and still nothing. I have a BIG problem with this Ulta. First off I took my daughter there to see if maybe they could help her with her acne problem and help get her on some good makeup. Well the moment my daughter walked through the doors the women that worked there judged my daughter due to her having acne and they where even smirking. The lady that was helping my daughter was kissing up to us until I told my daughter that I have to go and get a certain brush and that I would be right back. As I'm walking away I saw something else I needed in the next isle. Well the lady didn't see me go down it (I could see and hear everything she was saying to my daughter). She told my daughter that she will have to buy all this different makeup and have to pile it on just to try and cover up her acne (now my daughters acne I didn't think it was that bad) but she went and made my daughter feel like she was so ugly and that unless she put on heavy makeup she would never have friends or a boyfriend. I was about to go around and say something when my daughter asked about if women have to look a certain way just to work there. This woman told my daughter that she had to be pretty, no acne, and skinny. I walked around and told the woman that I guess the manager was desperate for employees there because I don't see any of those things in any of there employees there. I grabbed my daughters hand and pulled her off the chair to me then I looked at the woman and said that she was the most ugliest woman inside as well as outside because who in there right mind would talk to a teenage that way? Especially a teen that at the age she is, is very easy to feel bad about how she looks and it's not even her fault her hormones are just going at it because she's going. I did call the main office and told them everything that happened and of course it went no where. I decided to take my daughter to the Ulta in Queen Creek and they took such good care of her and taught her so many things. Her acne is doing much better now thanks to them. I came into ulta because I had a formal Christmas party that night. I do not wear makeup and own little to no makeup. I went in and it was super busy and I had no idea even where to start. I asked Erin an employee at ulta if she could help me out. She was more than happy to help and was very knowledgeable in both skin care and makeup. She was very informative and spoke about her personal experiences which made her easy to talk to and relatable . She taught me about skin care. She tried on makeup and while she was doing my makeup she explained the techniques and wrote down all the products she was using so I could replicate the look at home. She then completed my makeup which I wore to the Christmas party and received dozens of compliments. Erin was nice, she took her time although it was busy. She made me feel confident, confident in the products I bought and confident that I could achieve a similar look at home. I will be going back to ulta in hopes to buy some skin care products with the help of Erin. Thank you Erin! read more

I received a gift card for my birthday and got a paper from the mail that highlighted their sales, which I had to check out! First of all, the employees are extremely unfriendly, and this is not the first terrible experience that i've had with this business. I love all things beauty and use to love Ulta because of their variety of selection but I will no longer step foot in one the stores again. At least not the one on Market st in Gilbert AZ. I went in one late morning on a Friday and it wast too busy. Not one person greeted me but they did smile at me so that wasn't bad. However there was someone behind me and some asked if she needed help. I walked further into the store and two other people were asks if they needed help. Granted I didn't ask if I needed help but I wasl looking around like I was lost. What got me was the ethnicity of those who were asked if they needed help. At that moment I felt a little racism and wish I walked out the store then and didn't give them any business. I made a visit into this store just the other day, as I was shopping around with my little sister and boyfriend, I was rudely approached by Lisa, who was supposedly the "Prestige Manager" as well as another employee, stating "Hi, Give me back the pencil you stole"... First and foremost I am in no condition nor would I ever, shoplift. Second of all, talk about an inappropriate and unprofessional way to handle the situation. She looked into my purse, found nothing and still stood there confident in the fact that I supposedly stole something. I, in shock of the attitude and horrible customer service as well as the fact that I was just accused of stealing, offered to empty my entire bag to ensure her I had nothing that was not mine. After I did so, she never made any attempt in apologizing for falsely accusing me but continued to state that they have it on camera. Better yet, after treating me with horrible attitude and unprofessional behavior, she thought that I was going to continue to shop as she went to get me a bag to put the items I planned on buying in. I told her to not even bother, I was more than finished with her and the store. As supposed management, I am extremely appalled by the behavior and attitude toward loyal customers like myself. I went back into the store and asked to talked to a higher management and get the women's name. Unfortunately management was not on duty. In conclusion, after this absolutely awful experience with this store, you can most definitely assume that they will NEVER be receiving my service again. She introduced herself and we went over prices first which I appreciated every much because most stylist don't do that anymore. Had my children with me... 3 boys. I did not want them running around breaking anything so I decided to use a small cart from Marshall's so that I could spend the 100 plus dollars I was planning on. Anoth rude women pointed in the general direction I for the item I was looking for, helping me was out of the question since she was in an intense conversation with another employee. One women walked up to me and said they do not allow carts in the store. I did not agree that this was a regular size cart and reminded her that I had planned on spending 100 dollars on makeup. She said that did not natter that I needed to leave with the cart. I told her this is smaller then a double stroller she said they don't like those in there either. I'm an avid shopper at Ulta. Every time I've come in here to look, etc. employees are rude and on top of me the entire time. The reason it deserves one star is because I was here before Christmas a few years ago with my mom (shopping for my daughter) and I had a police man usher me and two other women to the back of the store. They made us empty our pockets, purses, etc. and we're extremely rude to all of us. They accused us all of being in cahoots with each other and planning to shoplift... I'd never even seen the women before! I was shaken up and very upset. But still very polite to manager and said I understood she was just looking out for the store and she was unbelievably rude and brushed me aside instead apologizing greatly, as she should have. Little did she know I was probably going to spend 100$+ on Christmas gifts! Very unfortunate because two or three of the girls here are angels and amazing helpers. read more

I have lost all faith in Ulta Salon. I had my hair and makeup done for my dads wedding at the Ulta in Scottsdale at the Pavillions. My hair was terrible and my makeup was worse. I looked like Cleopata! I went home and wiped off most of the makeup. So while that stylist sucks she does not represent all of Ulta and once I moved I tried the Queen Creek Ulta. I had good experiences until my last one where the stylist was "running 20m behind"...ok, I will wait. 45 min later I couldnt wait anymore and she finally stopped her yapping and finished up with her customer. My hair came out unven and the waves looked like garbage so I decided to try the San Tan next time. Well my stylist called out and I didnt receive a voicemail. So i show up 10min early as I always do (but they cant seem to run on time) just to find out she isnt here and they cant squeeze me in for another hour. Its the Sat before Christmas. I have plans. Dont waste your time. Find another salon. 3 different Ulta Salons...all dissapointing. read more

I usually shop at the Queen Creek or Mesa location because they're closer to home but I'd spent 3 days calling several locations across the valley looking for a particular Tarte eyeshadow palette that was sold out everywhere, even online. I needed it for a wedding in a week. I called this location around 11:30am and could tell they were busy but the women on the phone (Shanna or something similar...) was very nice. She initially thought the product was out of stock but took an extra second and found one available for me that she immediately put on hold. I got to the store around 3 and it was packed! I got my other products and stood in line (about 5 minutes) and met Yvette at the cash register. Initially she could not locate the palette behind the counter but after a few minutes of searching found it in the back. They hadn't put the new palettes on the floor yet because there was a Tarte event the next day at the location. Both women took the time to find me the product I needed even though it was out of their way. She was so sweet and apologetic, even though there was nothing to apologize for. I appreciated the great customer service when they were obviously super busy. Very happy! read more

I made a purchase at this chain for my wife's Mother's Day present. They advertised a "Free" Spring Tote bag with a purchase over $40. Mine was $110. At checkout I asked for the bag and the condescending clerk indicated they were out but that I could call in a couple of days when they would receive more. At that time they were actively advertising this freebie with signs at the front door and throughout the store. I called when she suggested and another condescending individual told me they would not receive any further quantities and was not in any way apologetic and made me feel like I was an idiot for calling. They offered me 20% off but I already had a discount coupon from the person who referred me for 15.00 off which is the greater of the two!! This is kinda tuff because of how much I love ULTA BEAUTY itself. I just moved here from CA to AZ and walked in there for the first time to get my monthly products band I was really disappointed. The staff was either watching me like a bird, or half of them were talking to each other while there was a line of people to check out. I was eye balling the situation hoping maybe someone would catch on. It's so rude. Like your job is so hard ? The place wasn't even stocked up nor was it clean! There was shit just everywhere, not organized, boxes of makeup trembling over eachother and headbands on top of different headbands like a slobs. I hope it's just this location because it's really going to be hard for me to be coming back. It's supposed to be enjoyable. Someone needs to run this place more efficiently considering how cooperative is. If it got audited it would definitely have some strikes. read more

I came in to get my hair cut at the salon, and to start off I was never greeted and I waited by the desk to check-in but no one came. So eventually, I just sit down in one of the waiting chairs. All the stylists see me but still do nothing. After 30 minutes of waiting I finally approach one of them myself and ask what was going on. The salon manager, Courtney, came over to me and apologized for the confusion and quickly started on my hair. She was wonderful and so sweet. When she was finished I asked her if I could use my points on the price of my haircut to which she said yes. The receptionist wasn't in today so she sent me up to the front to pay. I waited in line for an open cashier. Once the cashier saw me she didn't smile or greet me kindly at all. She simply said, "Come i'm down here." Very monotonous and a frown on her face the whole time I was checking out. (She was an older woman, bigger, dark hair. She also sat in a chair the whole time. These are just descriptors since I didn't catch her name.) I gave her my rewards information and asked to use my points on the purchase to which she responded a simple "No." I proceeded to tell her that the salon manager, Courtney, had informed me that I could. She then gave me a very dramatic and irritated sigh, turning over to the other woman behind the counter (who was not an ounce nicer either, strangely enough) and asked her if I could. I believe the woman was also a manager or assistant manager (had on a bright pink top and jeans). This woman gave the same answer. The first woman turned back and said, "Yeah no. Unless we aren't aware of some major change then you can't." I was growing very confused and upset with the attitude of these women, and again repeated that Courtney had told me it was okay and that I didn't quite understand why the answer would change up there. The cashier then began to tell me how I can earn points, and I said, "Yes. I know I have been a member for over a year." The cashier then scoffed and said "I'm just trying to explain it to you so you get it." I was horrified by the behavior of the women in this store. Been going to this store for a long time and today was my last time ever going to this location thanks to the staff. Needed help with figuring out the big and sexy hair product deal couldn't find anyone to help. I went to the cash wrap and asked this short little girl with short dark hair, name Celest or Cindy I believe. I asked her for some help and she acted like it was such a hassle to help me with one question about what products qualify for the big and sexy hair promotion. I also noticed she was texting at the cash wrap so it was as I was interrupting her not doing her job. Then at one point I asked her if I was some how bothering her and she gave me this snooty look and said no she just doesn't know every deal off the top her head and told me to just wait a few seconds. I then asked to speak to her manager, and she said okay but took her sweet ass time. I asked her if she could call her over an intercom system if they had one and said it was broken but she would go look for her. I started to follow and she asked me to stay at the desk. She went into what I believe was the back room. I waited for five minutes and became fed up with this little girl playing games. I went and asked someone else for help, but of course there wasn't anybody available to assist me. Thanks to that little 16 year old brat, I will go out of my way to other locations. read more

Rude, unhelpful and idle staff. Had bought a product in another ultra store and decided to buy another. None of the staff I asked had any knowledge of the product . One member of staff made very rude comments about my accent. She kept gawping at her colleague and giggling in a very bizarre fashion ! She claimed she was "acting manager" which is very worrying for Ulta! She was not a young woman and most certainly should have had better customer service skills. Another staff member was heard to complain about another customer and said loudly that she just wanted to go home. I note all the extremely poor reviews this store gets, and am not at all surprised. Senior staff should be brought in to observe just how appalling the staff are in this store. They all need intense training . - particularly the woman who claims she is from England . I , like many others who have reviewed this store, will not be returning to Ulta. Sephora and Mac clearly value their customers (and their staff, by obviously providing good training courses!)
