I don't usually write reviews but honestly the attitude I was given and the customer service had me feeling like I was a problem to one of the staff there. I went into the store knowing that I had come in for my pickup order early. I let the girl at the front know that I was completly fine with waiting, and that if they hadn't grabbed my stuff I would grab it for them and just bring it to the front. (I was trying to not be a problem as I knew I was early.) the lady behind the desk was nice, but the lady that ended up having to grab my stuff gave me major attitude and let me know "if it says it's not ready it's not ready" and rolled her eyes and walked away from me. I was completly aware of this and was even just shopping around. When my stuff was ready she yelled across the aisle, "maam your stuff is at the front come get it". Honestly super disappointed in this service and even apologized for feeling like an inconvenience to the girl at the register. Not good. Super disappointed. read more

I verified that the Ulta store at 1311 Johnson Ferry rd Marietta Ga 30068 had a specific prestige brand lip gloss in store. When I got to the store I did not see the lip gloss. There were other colors but the one I wanted was a no show. I asked a "knowledgeable" Ulta associate about the product I was for. Well, she told me 4 times that she's the operations manager for Ulta and the product was not in stock. Okay. Well.....I showed her on the app where it showed that the lip gloss was in store-available for pickup and available for curbside. She looked at me like I was the problem and just stared. Ashley M may be the operations manager but she is not a customer oriented anything. Maybe she should stick to stocking shelves but actually assisting customers is a hard nope. I came into the store at 6:07pm, not knowing it was closed. The employees could be seen laughing at the front check out lines and it looked like people were in there. The doors were not closed or locked so I walked in to the store ready to spend 100 dollars on a fragrance as the doors were open. Usually at stores, you're greeted happily and if you show up after it's closed, you're given a gentle reminder that the store is closed and a time that it reopens the next day. Instead, I was berated out the door and yelled at like I was an intruder. The lady who yelled at me practically shoved me out the door while the other employees looked at me like I was robbing the place. I now don't want to go back or spend my money here again because if you can't be nice to your customers, you don't deserve to have their business. In contrast, the Sephora in Kohls had the nicest manager I've ever met helping me. So Ulta, please rectify this or hire more polite workers because I really do like the store and the variety. read more

Is customer service a dying art these days? Every time I go into ULTA I have to mentally prepare myself to be wowed by exceptional performance, or to be insulted by a high school drop out. Today, when I was looking for shadows, there were 2 very pleasant and helpful women, but when I approached the register the story was completely different. I had inadvertently picked up testers, that were in the baskets with the rest of the lip liners. The girl at the register helpfully pointed out that I had accidentally picked up testers, but when I said, let me see which ones so I can replace them, she made the comment, 'they are the ones with tester on them' thank you for that, 3 degrees and somehow I still can't read good. I let that slide, perhaps that was the type of instruction she needed to accomplish tasks. I then asked her about the pigment of a certain pallette. I told her I was unfamiliar with the brand and I wanted to know how rich or pigmented the colors were. She proceeded to flip the pallette over to the back and said well if you just look on the back it will tell you what the colors are....I sat blinked a few times looked around for the sense....couldn't find it, so I asked again. This Ulta knows how to run a shop...they have the nicest and friendliest people that work here...As soon as I walked in a sales girl approach me and gave me a shopping bag and offered to help me find something...which in all my years of shopping at various Ulta has never ever happened...so extra star with sprinkles on top for that...this Ulta features a salon in the back of the store...What I love about this Ulta as oppose to the other Ultas I've been to is how they have Lancome make up for sale plus they have tons of foundation samples by not only department store brands but drugstore brands like Maybelline and Revlon....which we know the only way we can know for sure if a color is right for us is...if we put it on our face...not on our wrist or hand but our face.....thanks Ulta for keeping me looking all pretty and cute... read more

I want to start by saying I know it's just hair. Hair grows back. I've had haircuts that I wasn't 100% pleased with before but it was nothing like this. It has been almost 6 weeks since I received the worst haircut of my life (no exaggeration). I was referred to Kalita by my best friend. She had had two haircuts from her & they seemed cute so I decided to give it a whirl, being on the hunt for someone new. My introduction with Kalita was interesting. Even as a new client she didn't ask a single question about my hair habits, routine or styling. She barely touched my hair before beginning. She took me to the back room for a wash & I found myself giving her info about what I was looking for & what my concerns were. I pulled up a few photos to show her how my curls differentiate depending on the day. I also asked her for any recommendations she had for curly hair products. Here we are in a large Ulta store packed to the brim with products & the only thing Kalita recommended was some glossy oil conditioning treatment from Redkin. I am left to assume this is a product they were pushing because it was the only brand displayed in the wash room. I asked her about some of the other products they had, naming a few, and she only recommended Redkin. I would ask about this again in the middle of my haircut & get the same response. The haircut. I had 2 specific requests. I wanted my usual side swept bangs & I wanted them to remain long enough to pin back for work & I wanted my hair length to be long enough to be pulled back into a ponytail. I move all day long so keeping my hair off my neck and out of my face is very important to me for the comfort of my job. She begins to cut my hair & points to the middle of my back & says "I'm going to cut it to about here." I couldn't see exactly where she was pointing and this part is probably where I should have stepped up more, but I assumed no matter what she cut off I would still have hair long enough to put into a ponytail - because that was my main request. I wasn't too worried bc in the last 10 years no one has cut my hair this short, even when I've gone a year or so w/o a cut. I'd also just had a haircut in April, less than 3 months prior, so I know my hair wasn't in terrible shape. I didn't realize how sh*tty my haircut was until I got home and played around with it for a day or two. My husband gasped when he saw my hair. My best friend was genuinely confused and upset. It's THAT bad. The technique that she used is awful - no razoring in her layering, just blunt cuts, which, if you have curly hair like mine, is a Big Fat No. My hair gets wider the dryer it gets! I am still having to straighten it just to pull it back and look decent. I loathe using heat on my hair.  My bangs. Just look at the photos I posted & that should say more than enough. Butchered. Uneven. I asked for side swept bangs and as you can tell from the photos that is not all what happened. The minute she cut my wet curly hair that short I knew that it wasn't right. 6 weeks later & I am *still* having trouble pinning them back without pieces sticking up, they are horribly uneven and top heavy on one side. Here's the thing. NOT ONCE did she apologize or take accountability. I emailed her 2 days later & explained why I was upset, that my requests hadn't been respected & sent her photos. Still, not one single apology or morsel of remorse. How do you work on women's hair every day for 10 years & not understand how upsetting a bad haircut can be? Her reply, word for word: "Omg this must be fixed I totally wasn't expecting them to go that short I can reframe them and shorten them when can you come in?" HARD SLOW BLINKS. WHAT. You didn't know they'd go that short when you cut wet, curly hair?! HOW. No I don't want them shortened again & I also don't want to drive back there, sit in your chair & have you touch me or my hair after being so dismissive. I replied that it was already too short & reiterated she didn't honor my requests & not expecting them to go that short wasn't a good defense. When she replied & the first sentence was "I'm not being defensive," I ended all communication right there. That might be unfair of me, to not read what she had to say, but COME ON. On top of all of this you're now parsing up my words and getting defensive? I said it wasn't a good defense, but however you would have worded it: defense, reason, excuse, explanation, the points the same, that was the first thing she had to say? Even if she went on to try to rectify the situation, the moment had passed. I was not comfortable with her anymore. How on earth did she let me walk out of there with those bangs?! I'd have had much more respect had she apologized and admitted what went wrong or that she was having a bad day. I will never go back, and neither will my best friend. Two potential customers lost due to poor customer service, a terrible haircut, and lack of accountability from the get go. read more

I would like to assume that this location was understaffed at the time. I came in for a certain foundation. I walked back and forth from the two sides of the store trying on different foundations while no one asked if I needed help or even speak. I ended up leaving. I visited the Merchants Walk store at around 6:30pm ET on 7/28/2022 At the check out, I was told I was REQUIRED to give them my personal email address and/or phone number or I could not buy my shampoo products. All I wanted to do was pay cash for my products without having to provide any private information for their marketing database for data mining. I don't believe their info requirement is legal. Other stores give you a choice where you can decline providing private info. The unprofessional and rude employees at this location kept insisting that I give them my personal information or I couldn't buy my products. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I was driving home from work one day when I saw this Ulta location. I frequent the store off Cobb Parkway near Cumberland Mall, so I was curious as to what this location had to offer. Let me tell you, this location is amazing! It's very spacious between aisles, things are in stock, it's bigger than the Cobb Parkway location and they also have more of a selection of Benefit Cosmetics, as they also have the Benefit Brow Bar. I've heard their brow services were on the pricey side ($20 to be exact.... I saw in previous reviews stating that services are free on your birthday, but when I picked up a brochure, the wording for that was blackened out. Call ahead to be sure), but I want try it. Love ulta. However, today my experience was not so good. I was in the aisle looking at the Laura Geller make up when a clerk with another customer came up looking at the make up directly behind me. The isles are not very wide anyway, so as I'm looking at the make up they are bumping and pushing me. So instead of waiting until I was done they just basically pushed me out of the way. I left. Poor customer service - I was looking for few gifts to my cousin's and asked ladies that work there for help on finding some deals- was hoping to get some help in picking lipsticks and eyeliners. The ladies were of no help. There were just 2 people in the store and no other customers in the store at about 8:00pm on Monday. One lady said there are no good deals and that I have to pay pretty much full price and the other lady was busy trying testers on herself - I noticed she did that till store closing time - trying all shades of urban decay on her. If I can give them 0 star, I would. Don't waste your money at Ulta. For a hair trim that took less than 5 minutes, ulta hair salon at East Cobb MARIETTA, GA charged me $80. I took my two daughters that already had straight and styled hair, and needed only a trim. It took them less than 5 minutes to cut/trim the end, and gave me an $80 bill. When I questioned why my charge said wash, style and cut, they said that is what they charge and can't charge differently even though they didn't provide the full the service. The manager that was there on Nov 19th 2018 afternoon, was no help with the situation either and didn't care about the rip off by the ridiculous charges or my frustration. once again, there goes my luck. it seems like this place is the ish when it comes to to service for everyone else. how comes I have been getting bad vibes everytime? when I enter the store, I notice there are staff around..but no one cares to greet me. do I have some sign above my head or something? I've noticed other girls (who enter before me) get greeted, so no it's not just bad timing. then when I'm actually lost and in need of assistance, every other person around gets helped out. I actually have to track someone down to get someone to help me out. like this one time, I ended up "bothering" a staff that was too busy chit chatting away with her coworker. all I needed to know was if they had more of the tarte bb cream in the back since all I saw were the sample bottles. she then gives me a snobby/annoyed remark and says "naw that's it". like really? wow. how about some useful info like when you'll be getting more in or some small talk like "oh it's so popular that they sell pretty quick".. or something! but nope, she just said 3 words and went back to not giving a care. what crappy customer service. I've only had the chance to try out this location of ulta and the one off of ashford dunwoody. both are the same way when it comes to customer service. ughh, now I see why sephora is always busy. oh and another thing, they don't give out "samples" to certain people. talk about profiling. at least I've never had a bad experience at any sephora! read more

So I was looking for an ULTA to get some NYX products, and this one happened to be on the way to my friend's place. First off, my GPS took me on the entireeely opposite part of the parking lot for this place, closer to Old Navy than ULTA. But after I parked, I found it pretty easily. People weren't particularly rude to me, but they weren't super friendly either. That's okay with me, since I actually prefer being left to my own devices unless I really need help finding something. I've been to ULTA before, though it was a different one than this. And I didn't remember just how much it has there. They have a lot of the same kind of makeup as other grocery and drugstores, such as Maybelline, Neutrogena, Revlon, Almay, Covergirl. etc. But then they also have NYX, Philosophy, Lancome, Urban Decay, and their own ULTA brand of makeup. I may have come for the NYX, but I also bought a ton of the ULTA brand makeup because it was on sale. SUPER CHEAP SALE. I'm such a bargain hunter that I couldn't resist. I ended up buying some creme eyeliner for $3, lipliner for $1, and a few foundations which were $2-3 a piece. And these products were normally three times as expensive. There were a lot of sales going around in general, actually. It seemed like most products were buy one, get one 50% off. This included the kind you might buy at drugstores such as Maybelline and Covergirl, and even a lot of the NYX products. I was able to get two NYX lipsticks for about $3 each, so I was a very very happy camper. I only wished that I could have gone here first when I was re-stocking my entire makeup collection, because I'm pretty sure I would have saved a pretty chunk of change. read more

I overheard (the girl was speaking very loudly) one of the makeup artists talking about how she wanted to marry her boyfriend, but he had to go to jail because of nonpayment of child support (winning!). My first experience at this location was a few weeks ago, and unfortunately, my next experience will be to make a return! I actually came in to find some hair products I love that can no longer be found in the mall I shop in. My husband and I frequent this area for movies/food, so this is convenient and easy, and I can finally have my hair products back! Yay! I found them with ease and then made an unplanned detour to the makeup section. I found an Urban Decay palette that was sold out elsewhere, which made my day. In preparation for the palette, I also bought a shadow primer. Here's where it goes wrong..... I paid, the checkout clerk was very friendly, and all was right with my world. A few days later, I tried to use the shadow primer for the first time and found it had gone rancid! It initially just squirted out a slick of oil, and when the product did finally come out, it was clumpy and had an odd texture. Not to mention the SMELL! It smelled so bad....very old, very rancid. There was no way I could stand that smell and put it on my face, so back in the box it went. Now I have to make an extra trip over to return it, as it's obviously a product that has been sitting around a LONG time. This worries me that their products do not move quickly, and inventory is perhaps old and sits around awhile. Was this a random event, or does their makeup sit on the shelves until it literally goes bad? I must admit, I'm scared now to purchase anything else that may have the potential to expire! Not a great first impression, but a worthy place for hair products, powders, and other things that aren't likely to separate and go rancid. Seems I'll just have to be careful about my selections in the future. I give them 3 stars for selection of products and carrying hard-to-find items. read more

Cashiers are very rude at this store, i was returning a product that gave me allergic reaction. Cashier gave me back less money then i have paid for it and when i brought it to her attention, she didn't even apologize. Overall it took her 10 minutes to process my return and at the end they gave me torn up bill. When i asked for another one, she and her coworker loudly ashamed me how all the bills in this world are torn apart because they are being used. When I explained i am taking the bills back to EU for exchange and based on my previous experience i know they will not accept it, cashier advised me how her sister has no problem like that in France, so I politely asked her, who should i call while standing back in front of exchange office in my country, her or her sister, as they obviously know the best. read more

I walked in this ulta location today to exchange some products I purchased online. The location was very clean and well-organized. The staff greeted me when I entered the store. This never happened to me at the Cumberland mall or Dunwoody location. I went straight to grab my replacement and didn't spend a long time in the store. This location has most products in stock! Ulta usually has good selections of choices, urban decay, NYX, the body shop, Lancôme, benefits, Nars etc. The cashier was very friendly too! I will definitely come back to this location! read more

This complaint is pertaining to the no return policy if you don't provide a phone number when checking out. Everything in the store is overpriced (at least 2$ more than other stores selling the same products) and I can buy most of the products somewhere else. So after I refused to provide a phone number the cashier told me these items are "finale sale". I asked why and she proceeded to tell me it is because their company policy states only products sold with a phone number attached to the sale are eligible for a return. I told her to keep them, I will shop some place else from now on. What a ridiculous policy. read more

Overbearing, pushy, rude employees. I was asked no less than 15 times if I needed help. Some of these times were by the same associate within minutes of the last time they asked me if I needed help. I am 9 months pregnant and breaking out badly due to hormones. Nothing much can be done until I have my baby for reasons involving restrictions on chemicals pregnant women are permitted to use and the fact that hormones are the root of my issue. I was shopping in the hair product sections. The same associate that asked me two times in a 5 minute period if I need help, asked me on the second interaction if I wanted her help finding a good facial cleaner!! I'm pregnant. I'm shopping in the hair product section. Maybe I'm being sensitive, but I felt she lacked knowledge (I'm pregnant, it's hormonal, and I can't use anything with chemicals anyways). She knows none of this. She's a child. No knowledge. Plus I'm not in the skin care section. Get away from me!!! The cashier (Arielle) rude as can be because I didn't want to sign up for their rewards program. Then I wouldn't put the points on a friends account. She was super hateful when I declined that offer. I hate this Ulta. Go to the mall. At least those department stores use trained make up professionals, unlike Ulta which uses children. read more

After she paid for her purchase the sales associate have a little chuckle to get co worker and I over heard her say "I took her points for myself" I thought to myself that is the same as stealing..wow glad she is proud of herself. I was impressed with their supply of hair equipment, their OPI nail color supply, and that they carry Fake Bake self-tanner, which I can't find anywhere else. They have a large supply of make up and beauty essentials, and even a small section of items for men. The staff has always been helpful and well-informed. I have reached to management, corporate, the help desk, every option I felt was available, and no one even reached to me to apologize. No one has called or emailed me about anything. So I just had to check out the new Ulta at Merchant's Walk...and it is amazing!! The yucky Ulta in Dunwoody and Sephora are now dead to me. This store is immaculate (the fact that it JUST opened undoubtedly helps), enormous, and carries a huge range of products. I'm so excited about the nice Benefit brow bar.
