Just wow. Went in when the baby I was nannying was on the verge of a nap, it's my birthday month and my husband sends me on shopping sprees for anything I want. Hesitantly, this becomes $200 trips to craft stores, $300 at Costco, etc., and Ulta almost saw some of it. After entering the first young lady was awesome, I asked her about curly haired products as I'm new to figuring out my natural hair texture. She recommended a specific brand and two specific products, she was convincing and without checking prices I took the two products she recommended. I moved on to try and figure out a diffuser attachment for my hair dryer. With no one to even ask on the floor for over 5 minutes I decided to take them to the front. Now, let me clarify that I am blatantly aware when I am being profiled. As I walked towards the front of the store some older woman asked if she could take them up to the register for me. I said, "No, actually you can help me." Now as she spoke over me and gave me an appalled look that I told her NO, she seemed to have made up her mind to make this difficult and seemed in a rush instead of WANTING to help. Due to the packaging on the hair dryer, there was no information on the diameter to determine if the attachment would fit. I did not want to purchase them just to return, and clarified that. I live 30 minutes away and the closest location is still 20 minutes away from me, this is the main reason I order online. She asked for help and no one seemed to understand the WHY I wanted to know if one of their products would be compatible with another. The same solution was offered, you'd think they'd also want to know so they're knowledgeable about their products right? Nope, I was SO close to just buying both, testing the fit and then returning both immediately just to go purchase them online and not even give them the sale. Due to her defensive profiling attitude from the beginning, inability to find solutions for a CUSTOMER, and her lack of care, it's really horrible for the location and I will only be back here to RETURN things moving forward if I HAVE to. I returned all 3 of the facial serums, 2 hair products, 1 lip liner and liquid bundle pack, and the diffuser then walked out and spent twice as much at TARGET. Most unprofessional hair salon. I have been going to them for years off and on. I made a hair appointment for hair cut and possibly hair color correction. Got the haircut and stylist said couldn't do anything about hair color correction but next appointment we could discuss. Okay fine I understood. I made another appointment and got confirmation that I was good to go even the stylist called day before to confirm. Then day of appointment I got a phone call that my appointment was canceled. That I could see a different hair stylist . So I took the appointment. The stylist did a very simple haircut nothing else and was complaining about how tiered she was and wanted to get done so she could leave work early. Okay no problem I understand about being tired. Then a month later I made another appointment for simple haircut. Same thing happened I got all the confirmations I am booked and ready to go. This time though I got a call day of my appointment that I need to reschedule because the hairdresser was not available. That I would have to choose another day as all the other stylist were booked up. I talked to Stacy the manager about how upset I was about this situation and she said she would have the district manager call me and discuss this further. I never got a call back from anyone. So for awhile I have not used any make up which my face is very sensitive So i walk up to a sales lady ask about what a best product for.my face because my face is sensitive. Initially I went in to buy Estee Lauder however they were out of everything. The girls working that department were not helpful either. So I went over to Clinique Makeup and they were completely stalked and Trisha was so helpful that I spent almost $500 on makeup. However I did notice quite a bit of makeup baking in the sun in front of the window which is gross. This Ulta needs to step it up and do better! read more

This store has some of the nicest employees ever! They really take their time to get to know you and show you products that would work well specific to your skin type, tone, etc. Color matches are a breeze and I know I won't walk out with the wrong shade of foundation. They have sales often but you have to keep an eye out for them (sign up for their mailing list and you can rack up points to use too!) Some days they have vendors come in for specific brands that will give you a makeover or some free samples/gifts if you purchase anything from their line. Only downfall is that most coupons exclude "Prestige" brands, which are the higher quality name brand lines. Otherwise it's great!! read more

This review is for the salon. Would not recommend! Prices may seem good, but the outcome was not. I spent a total of nine hours getting my hair highlighted and then redone. Had my appointment rescheduled for later times and then the stylist was still over half an hour late to start beyond the pushed out time (1.5 hrs later than it was originally scheduled for). My hair looks awful, and even worse than that, it is now so damaged. The stylist told me to apply oil TWICE per day, to give you an idea of how porous it now is from the highlights. I've never had such damaged hair. I won't be going back. Thankfully, I found a stylist elsewhere that has a plan for salvaging my hair in its current condition. read more

I've shopped here now 3-4 times, and each visiting has been worse than the time before. One visit I had come in and wanted to sample some lip stains. I had applied a few using testers, and had two different associates walk directly past me and not even look me in the eye, let alone welcome me or offer help. I have, on multiple occasions, signed up for a rewards card. Yet, on every single visit it can never be located. Ever. On tonight's visit, I was less than impressed yet again. I came in to use up the remainder of a left over xmas gift card. I found some Too Faced mascara, a benefit bronzer and some hair clips. A girl sweeping glared at me as I was clearly lost, looking for a specific make up brands section & just walked around me. No offer to help. Upon check out, I am faced with the same girl who avoided me during my failed hunt for Nars make up. She rang up my items, asked if I had a rewards card (why yes I do, but I guarantee you can't find it!). I gave her 2 phone numbers and 2 zip code combos. Since that's all you need? She couldn't find it. Then asked for my name; couldn't find it. Tried to sign me up yet again, which I refused. She scoffed at me. I attempted to use a coupon for $3.50 off of $15. She rudely informed me that two brands didn't apply to the coupon so my total was on $5.99 and didn't meet the minimum of $15. Ok fine. Next, she asks again if I'd like to sign up for a rewards membership. Again I tell her no. She tells me "well you can't make any returns without it". What. The. Hell? I told her I still didn't want it. She shoves my receipt into my bag and we head out the door. Once in the car, I read the receipt and it clearly states I can return whatever I want WITH a receipt. But, if I had used my membership I'd be able to without the receipt. Get your shit straight, ulta. Buy your grumpy ass employees some coffee. I'll continue to drive my ass to Nordstrom. read more

About a week later when I ran out of my powder, I opened the new box only to find it had been previously used... SO gross! I don't live close, but I made some time to go get a new powder as I am completely out. Good thing I called, neither the Everett or Smokey Point had it in stock. I had this experience at the Alderwood Ulta but am writing it here as this is her home location. I have NEVER felt more welcomed walking into an ulta store! Today I had the pleasure of meeting Sherri, let me tell you, this amazing woman knows her stuff! I was looking for a "foundation" that wasn't liquid, would hold up against heat, humidity, and sweat. She took the time to get to know me, my skin, and how comfortable I was with specific products. She exceeded her job description and went above and beyond to help me find what I was looking for. I could not have been happier with the experience working with her and will most definitely be coming to visit this store to see her! This location is an absolute joke. I'm a customer that spends a lot of money on product and I was treated like a thief. I have never been so humiliated in my life I could not get out of there faster. $380 later and a promise to myself never to return I know I am home with Nordstrom. There were two particular employees I could even hear talking about me... the girl with the mermaid hair and the guy named Jessie, who was extremely pushy. First, she didn't tell me she charged $10 more for a haircut because she is a "senior" until after the service, I would have never agreed to pay $47 for a haircut. Be careful with the hairdressers tho came in for a cut and the lady just kept cutting and cutting. Being a platinum member, being lied to is a bit of an insult. I came in to purchase shampoo, conditioner and oil spray. Last visit, I was given a sample of "its a 10" and loved it, so this time I bought a latge package. When checking out, I asked if I could receive a sample of another "its a 10" product to see if I could find something else that worked well to add to my routine. I was rudely and flat out told "NO! I've been into this location plenty of times since they've opened and the customer service isn't even decent. The fist step to making customers feel confident and empowered as they are walking in to a BEAUTY store is to welcome them in and every time I've been in, I have never been greeted. I usually go on weekdays which is the slowest time (compared to weekends) and they are always stacked with employees, however I don't receive help from any employees which is very disappointing. Every time I shop at Ulta I spend a good amount of money, and to not receive help or feedback on products is insulting. Moving forward, I think a good way to train employees working in the beauty industry is to make sure that associates know the meaning of empowerment and what that looks like putting it into action on the sales floor and to customers. A hint: starting by welcoming customers in, asking them what they can help them find, suggesting good products, checking in on them etc. I hope my next visit is better then the past ones that I've experienced. I don't think it's a personal thing on the associates but it does need to be addressed and taught on managements side. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but had to after my appt at the Marysville/Arlington store. I HIGHLY recommend Autumn in the salon. She listens to you, and knows what she's doing. My hair looks FABULOUS. Feels fabulous too, which is an entirely new experience after countless other salon color/toning visits over the last few years, and also trying at home box coloring/corrections. After too many times of trying to relay my wishes for the color with BABY lights that I wanted to 3 or 4 different salons over the last 4-5 years, and my getting less than desirable results on that, (along with damage from inferior products used, which was totally counterproductive of my trying to get the healthy, soft looking, not fried hair, I wanted) I stopped in the Marysville store looking for products to attempt to repair my fading, overly warm with entirely too many highlights ( that I didn't want) dried out hair. Not only was I helped with that, by an extremely knowledgeable and SUPER helpful LISA, we started talking color, as she could see the damage, and gross faded color. After speaking with her, I immediately made an appt. When I went in, due to unforeseen circumstances, she wasn't able to do it ,but she gave me a recommendation to let her colleague, Autumn do the work. (I was also pretty pleased to find out during my visit, that during my wait for my appt, they had actually consulted with each other on how to tackle my hair problem and had came up with a game plan, which was pretty cool) I was heaven sent to AUTUMN. I highly, HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ladies...making an appt with her. She not only listens to you, but she did absolutely wonders with my color correction.. and a beautiful cut. I was followed by at least 3 girls the entire time now mind you I understand maybe 1 girl walking past and asking if I need help but these three women literally stalked me for my entire trip. I've been to several different Ulta's from Smokey Point to Federal Way and I've never been treated like such a thief in my entire life.
